The Philips Hue Smart Lighting system is well established and one of the best Smart Home lighting products currently available. This new Bluetooth bulb is an attempt to simplify things by doing away with the need for a separate controlling bridge, and although this bulb is still a part of the Hue family it can be operated independently by using the ‘Philips Hue Bluetooth’ Smartphone app and by voice control with Alexa and Google Assistant. This is a mixed solution as although it does make setup nice and easy using Bluetooth you don't get all the control features offered by the full Wi-Fi bridge version of Hue – but if you already have a bridge you get the best of both worlds. There are four versions of this bulb on the same Amazon product page – the UK B22 Bayonet, the E14 Small Edison Screw, the E27 standard Edison Screw and the G10 spot – and these are available singly or in better-value multi-packs of two or three. I have a single E27 which is rated at 9.5 Watts, 806 Lumen, and by using the app you can dim the bulb to suit the time of day or your mood. On the negative side this bulb is not all that bright at maximum and at around fifteen pounds seems rather expensive for a basic Smart Bulb – although the Philips build-quality is very good. This bulb should have an average life of 25,000 hours so should pay for itself over time, and the simple setup will suit some users – however, if you are considering setting up a new home Smart lighting system you would probably be better off starting with the regular Wi-Fi hub version of Philips Hue. If you just need one or two Smart Bulbs these Bluetooth models are worth considering - if you are comfortable with the price for the features offered. Four stars for quality, value and features at the current price.

By using this Philips smart bulb it’s a big step to save energy in everyday use and also save the planet which is an important criterion for me when I’m buying a product. I think there is no any person in this word who doesn’t know how to change or how to install a light bulb but for your own safety make sure that you unplugged the lamp or you switched off the light before install the bulb. The base type for this LED bulb is E27 which is the standard EU connector. Works with 220 V and the consumption is 9.5W which is amazing compare to the old type of Incandescent light bulb with 40-60-100W. The energy saving rate is A+, you can save over 80% on electricity bill of lighting if you decide to buy them. This LED bulbs are Standard A60 shape, but made from plastic not from glass. I think this characteristic makes it even more safe to use, if you drop it, will not break or will not explode from overheating like the old type of Incandescent light bulbs. Even after few hours constant use, doesn’t warm up extremely so is very safe. The light appearance is changeable which is one of the multiple features this bulb has. Without downloading the HUE app this bulb is just a regular LED bulb but if you download the app on your phone tablet or any Android or iOS device with this you can switch on/off, dime the light or change from warm white to cool white. This application works via Bluetooth. The lifetime for these bulbs is around 50000 hours.Save money and save the planet! I will never ever buy any old style Incandescent light bulb again. I’m planning to switch my home to a smart home with a couple of more Philips bulb. Absolutely recommend buying products from them especially these LED light bulbs.

Initially purchasing this item, I was a little sceptical. I assumed that the functionality of a smart-bulb would merely be a gimmick. Hence, I put-off purchasing one, until I saw this on a sale, for over 60% off.Functionality - 5/5:This product works exactly as intended. With an streamline, easy-to-use app and simple bluetooth connectivity, this product does exactly what it says on the box. Within the app, there are several features that can serve the light as multipurpose - you can have a night light, reading light or even an extremely bright light. This can be configured through pre-adjusted buttons, or can be set using a slider between 1-100%. You can also turn the light on and off directly from the app,as well as use voice prompts to tell Alexa to switch on the product, This is great if you're a lazy person, in bed at middle of night, and you simply don't want to get out of bed to turn off the light.Design - 5/5:The design looks modern, and unlike typical light bulbs on the market. It feels premium quality, and provides you with an ambient source of light that isn't too harsh on the eyes at all.Price - 4/5:Considering this bulb is on sale a lot of the time, it is a great buy. Off-sale, however, you may think twice before purchasing, as one may find it difficult to justify spending so much on a bulb.Overall, I would recommend this product to anybody in search of a new bulb for their room. It does exactly as it states, and essentially does exactly what it says it will do. 10/10 experience.

I love this bulb more than I should. As someone with mobility issues I can’t tell you just how useful this smart bulb has been, especially during the night when I find it difficult to navigate in the dark due to a heath issue. This bulb saves me fiddling for a light switch whilst struggling to find my way, it connects to my Alexa device so all I need to do is ask Alexa to switch it on for me before even getting out of bed & without moving a muscle, within a couple of seconds the light is on. It also has a dimming feature which is nice, if you like to gently settle in to your evening you can even set up an evening routine through Alexa which will slowly dim the lights for you, play music, read you a story etc. Obviously this is made possible through an Echo device but it’s a nice way to unwind!I bought one on a whim when amazon had a special offer for Prime members and I would struggle to go back to a regular bulb in honesty. I think it’s more than just a novelty especially for someone who may have similar issues to myself. It just makes life that little bit easier. It was very easy to set up, I had downloaded the app and got it up and running in under 5 minutes. Alexa pairs up very well & I haven’t had any issues yet in almost 6 months. I will definitely be buying again.

There are plenty of 'smart lamp' options around some of which work with the Philips Hue system and some that are more generic and I have a few. However, for ease of use, integration and reliability, no-one comes close to Philips Hue.First off, this is a very well made bit of kit. It feels quality and it is quality - which, it should be given that it's not the cheapest item out there.Secondly, it just works. Out of the box, screw in and then add it to your Hue gateway hub. Takes seconds and is utterly reliable. Now, the one thing that I didn't notice at first is that you can use this without a hub and simply connect via Bluetooth from your phone. For me that's not an issue as I already have the hub (well three to be honest)and use the full range of options. However, if you just want a couple of lamps to be operable from your phone then this works well. The light quality is excellent and of course can be adjusted to suit easily either in real time or set up for a particular routine. As for looks? Well, this is perhaps the downside of the Philips lamps. Mostly they don't have the kind of 'designer' look that is suitable for bare bulb implementation. Nope, these lamps need to be in a shade for sure.Overall, there is no better smart lighting system on the market.

It's an A+ energy light bulb and it works. Would be nice if one were able to get white light, 6k, instead of warm light which tends to be a little too yellow for my taste but I can't seem to track any down of the smart light variety. Is it easy to link? Yes, especially if you tick the little option box to link with your account, or does that not matter? Anyway it worked out of the box and it then took me way longer to figure out how to set it to come on at a specific time with the Alexa app! Very confusing, well for me anyway. Once I'd watched a very helpful Youtube video by some chap on how to do it I was up and running. I do like the ability to dim the light and not have to have a dedicated light switch to do so and I am enjoying the novelty of saying 'Alexa, good night' and the lights turning off. Little things please little minds and all that. Just remember that to make them work you need to have either a forth generation Echo a hub thing or a smart plug, which of course is the cheapest option. 25/01/2021 - Had to return this as the bluetooth side of it decided not to work anymore! The bulb itself continued to work but only if you got up and turned it on/off. Amazon replaced it so lets hope this one works way longer.

Easy to control and works well, I am a more recent convert to smart home devices starting with smart plugs using an app to control and set them but more recently purchased an Echo dot, I wasn’t quite sure if it was more of a gimmick item than useful but after using it for a while now it’s certainly useful. The bulb arrived in a simple box along with instructions and a link to the Philips Hue app which I installed on my Android phone, installing and setting up the app is very straight forward and connecting the bulb via Bluetooth. The app works very well and along with a fine adjustment screen dial you get seven pre-set button defaults which work well.I went through getting my Echo dot to recognise the bulb again very straight forward and renamed the bulb to Lamp (the device I’m using it in)and went through basic commands such as Alexa turn lamp on and turn lamp off, dim and dim more, I tried the pre-set adjustments some worked and some I could not get Alexa to understand but that’s probably more to do with my inexperience using it than any limitation.Overall easy to install, highly controllable and works exactly how it should so I can’t fault it.

Since they first came out, I've been a big fan of the Philips Hue range and now have a wide selection of the different lights around the home. While the original selling point may have been the colours and the ability to control it using your smart home - recently things have been simplified a little with just shades of white/yellow making them more reasonable and useful for the main ideas. This one contains one of the white lights. Now while I have the coloured versions of these in another room, actually I find myself using the different shades of white the most - there's a bright and concentrated white through to a more calming warm yellow shade. The E27 screw can also be added to with adapters to fit smaller or larger sockets - though these are not supplied.Overall, this makes for another great addition into my Philips Hue collection and I can see plenty of occasions where this would work.

My old porch light got broken so I bought a new one. The bulb in the old one turned itself on and off at sunset and sunrise. Unfortunately, its idea of these times was wholly dependent on ambient light outside. Also it used about 36 watts.Having bought several coloured Hue lights before, I thought I would get a white only for the porch. This fits the bill perfectly and I can now program it to switch on at sunset and off at sunrise far more accurately than the old bulb. It is nominally rated at 9 watts but I have turned it down to about 50% as it is still bright enough at that level. I guess that means it's now only using about 4.5 watts which is next to nothing.I can also control it via Alexa. It also has bluetooth which means it will operate without a Philips Hub. However, as all my other lights are on the hub, so is this. I can't comment on the bluetooth aspects, therefore.

These are the cheapest Hue bulbs - just warm while (not quite 2700k more like 2900) and standard 800lm (so say 60W incandescent). They used to look different - but now all the bulbs have the same design (warm/ambiance/colour). So don't buy these thinking they are Ambiance or Colour. These still have BT (BlueTooth) but to be honest please invest in a Hue hub - best get a starter kit. Thankfully now after link-up BT is finally turned off in the latest firmware. Yay!As these are the cheapest, these are the best in places where you don't want to use expensive bulbs - say outside lights, utility/garage rooms and hallways. But for normal living rooms I'd say get Ambiance. For bathrooms since there are no Cold White bulbs perhaps again get ambiance.

It is well made and good quality ' Philips Hue White Single Smart Bulb LED [E27 Edison Screw] with Bluetooth, Works with Alexa and Google Assistant ' .To start using it was easy, just screwed in the smart bulb and downloaded a ' Hue ' app to my smartphone, than just connected both via bluetooth.I like that after that I was able to control the bulb, switch it on or off,or change mode to reading lamp, shade or downlight from any corner of room.So I use this smart bulb in my bedroom and found it really comfortable ,I don't have to get out from the bed to turn it on or off. Also,it is great that the lamp can be connected with Alexa and Google Assistant,so here would be option for voice control.Goodvalue for the money, recomend.

Bought to go alongside our new Echo Plus. We’ve only previously had Hive smart lights as I didn’t want to have to have any additional hubs/bridges cluttering up the house. With the Echo plus this isn’t an issue, so I was excited to try a Hue light.Setup was a breeze - just plug the bulb into the fitting, turn it on & ask Alexa to find new devices.Once set up in the Echo app, the bulb is very simple to use. It gives off a bright light, which is dimmable to create a more subtle environment if you prefer.I’m very impressed with the bulb & will be adding to my Hue setup in time.Thank you for reading my review. I hope you find it helpful.

This was my first go at using Smart Bulbs and I liked the idea of using them with the Echo Dot or the Alexa App. The pack contains two bulbs, both of which were really easy to install and to connect to my Dot, picking them up almost instantly as I installed the bulbs and knocked them on. If you are looking to turn you house into a smart house, these are a really good start and are a really good value. Ensure you check you are buying the right ends to fit your needs (screw end, pin end etc.)However, they do come at a higher price than regular bulbs for what is a little ease.

The Philips Hue Smart Lighting system is one of the best smart home lighting products currently available. This new bluetooth bulb is an attempt to simplify things you dont need an controlling bridge, and although this bulb is still an Hue family it can be operated independently by using the Philips Hue bluetooth Smartphone app and by voice control with Alexa and Google assistant. This is a better solution because it uses bluetooth does make setup nice and easy using bluetooth and you don't get all the features offered by the bridge version of Hue.

This is the white version of the Philips Smart Bulbs that works with the Hue setup. It does the whole range of white, from cool white to warm white, with 0-100% brightness control.I would say these do work better with the bridge; the connectivity and ability to set routines and programming, as well as remote control when you're outside of your home, really brings this technology in to it's own.LED is super efficient, so it might take the whole year but it will save on electricity. I think £15 is worth it.
