A couple of lights popped in my kitchen. They have a habit of going at the same time and I decided to replace them with these energy efficient Philips LED Classic 4.6 W GU10 Glass LED Spot Lights (Replacement for 50 W Halogen Spot). They arrived the next day and slotted into the sockets easily and were just as bright as the Halogen ones that had popped. Unlike the Halogen ones these LED bulbs do not get hot, which is actually a benefit when used in a sometimes hot kitchen. Switch cycles are rated to 50,000 and the average rated lamp life is claimed to be an incredible 15,000 hours which means that if they are on for, say 4 hours a day, they should last for over 10 years. If that is the case I will be delighted.I do suspect that inevitably there may be some variance in these claims. And Philips is a good make, you can rely on the Dutch to deliver when it comes to bulbs, whether than is the light variety or tulips, they know their stuff. And, of course, Philips has its own football team (PSV) which is pretty cool when you think about it as I cannot imagine any other electronic consumer goods company doing this.I have since found out that these are available elsewhere for ever so slightly less that here on Amazon, and I am talking a few pennies. It would be churlish to give this any less than 5 stars as a result of this, especially as these last so long and the cost per day is almost negligible. But I will. 4 stars.

This is an exceptional product. I have spent a long time looking for a led bulb that won't have an initial flicker for split second when you switch on or give out poor area coverage..So to start off with we had 16 halogen gu10s in our kitchen and they all were 50w.... as you can imagine the running cost was not practical and we have tried various brands of led's.. we brought the LAP brand ones from screwfix various others from different supermarkets (single bulbs) to try and i must say that they all were a good but there was something about it that i cant put my finger on but i didnt feel i would be happy to replace all the bulbs with them...So we held on until we come across this and read all reviews...we finally decided to give these a try...my god am i glad i did, it has transformed our kitchen..The brightness and colour tone are extremely impressive for a 4.6watt bulb. They don't buzz or appear to give off any interference. I don't know how hot they get - but at such low wattages, I doubt it's very much.In future I will always buy Philips when it comes to LED bulbs. The quality is second-to-none.It may seem rather expensive at the momemt but like they say you get what you pay for and this is definately worth every penny. We were so impressed that we have ordered more for our hallway and dining room.

Being a Philips branded bulb these are very good quality but I did think they were a little overpriced.Had to buy this pair of bulbs as I had to replace a total of 22 50w halogen bulbs in a house we have just moved into. I was able to get a good deal on a two boxes of 10 but needed another two so got these so in compassion they were a bit overpriced even for the name brand. They are of course being LED and under 5w vastly superior in energy efficiency when compared to the halogens that were using 90% more power so really a no brainer swapping over to LEDs but for spotlights LEDs are also much safer as they produce less than half of the heat of halogens.Unfortunately I learnt that the hard way as one of our downlighters running a halogen bulb actually went on fire due to the 200 degrees centigrade plus heat.... also didn't help that the previous owner had 22 50 w bulbs running of a single 5 amp fuse that was actually a pre-blown fuse that he had wrapped the outside of it with thick solid core wire.... but that's another story. So as I say the LEDs are much safer in this respect.I cannot speak in regards to longevity of these particular LED bulbs but the LED bulbs in general will last a long time. The light produced is bright but not a stark white a nice warm white that is pleasant.

I do agree with Movie aficionado's comments about the bulb shape being fatter than the norm.If your GU10 bulb fitting socket has a chamfer like my bathroom lights - then you will be 50/50 be able to successfully fit these. I was close to returning them after spending some 20mins trying to fit them to my bathroom ceiling fixture but with a bit more pressure they did fit in.The light output in comparison to my dated Halogens is worlds apart - very bright yet warm. So bright that I've often contemplated removing one of the three bulbs from the fixture just to dim things down a tad! Hopefully these last longer than the halogens. Time will tell.

Superb quality product that (literally) outshines most other LED bulbs of this type. A very good, warm colour output makes these bulbs an excellent substitute for energy-guzzling halogens. There's no harshness or nasty blue tinge with these. The bulb housing is particularly stylish and very suitable for fittings where the bulb is partially exposed or on display. Other LED bulbs are often bulky or plasticky and look quite ugly in fittings that were designed with the original halogen bulbs in mind. These, however, look great - not only are they mainly made from glass, they're almost identical in size to the halogen bulbs they replace.

I got a six pack of these bulbs and decided to replace the whole room even though only one halogen had gone. I've had many LED's over the years but never really been that impressed and the lifespan had been poor at times. Well these are a game changer, at just over £2 a bulb they offer whole new level of light, I wouldn't have classed our room as dingy before but it looks totally different now, the light is really crisp and clean as well, very, very impressed.I did buy the 10 pack a day later and didn't get exactly the same bulb, the results were good but not as good as the 6 pack.

Very good light output for the wattage. However the WARM WHITE is too yellowish for my tastes. I have mixed cool white and warm white lamps to achieve a balance. I like the lens system in this neat glass cased lamp is gives roughly a 30 degree spread and with a soft edge. Many similar type lamps are NOT spotlights as the spread of the light is over 90 degrees - something one need to be aware of when ordering. These lamps are in a different league to the cheap Chinese aluminium cased imports. I am very happy with these Philips spots - How long will they last - wait and see - -

I have just installed these to replace eight halogens in my kitchen and six in my converted garage. I tried one at first along side the good quality halogens that give a lovely warm light and there was no difference, even the wife said there was no difference. So I swapped them all over and am very pleased with the quality of light- very bright and warm. I've had led spots in the past and vowed that i would never use them again because of the awful light given off - they made our kitchen look green and people in the room look very unwell.

The 6-pack was great. Nice warm light, slightly brighter than the halogen equivalent and more even (less harsh and sparkly). The 2-pack, on the other hand, contained one bulb whiter than the other and both seemed to be rather shoddily put together (although original Philips product, as far as I could tell). Tempted to return, but stupidly threw the packaging immediately. May just keep them out of interest to see whether their lifespan is affected, since those two aren't for anywhere aesthetically important. Will update if they fail.

I bought these to replace some failed halogen bulbs, but they were so good that I decided to upgrade some previous generation Philips LEDs & will be buying more. They are seriously bright and have a good dispersion angle with a pretty even spread. Although they are sold as "warm white" I would say they are a bit higher up the scale, but not as far as cool white. The one downside so far is that there is a bit of patterned back-projection (see picture) so if you are using with a surface mount or exposed fixture you may have issues.

Excellent quality LED, look good, and the light tone and quality is excellent. So many LEDs out there have only the virtues of energy-and-cost saving as a plus point - I have been consistently disappointed with the quality of light they produce. Not these!I don't know how they compare with 50W Halogen, but in my kitchen they are every bit as bright as the 35W halogen bulbs in the adjoining dining room - I hope these are around when I eventually to switch from Halogen to LED elsewhere throughout the house.

Attached photo shows these lights, the Philips LED warm white 2700K on the left, and Philips LED cool white 4000K on right. The walls in my flat are predominantly painted white and found the warm white simply too yellow for places such as the kitchen and bathroom, making it a little difficult on the eye. I still decided to use these however for the living room. They are bright, just more yellow than I had thought (even more so than my previous halogens), but my fault there for not researching.

Expecting it to be a quality product from a trustworthy brand. Obviously not that easy to review a light bulb after only a few months. One nice thing about these particular bulbs and the reason I bought them is that the backs of the bulbs are clear and some of the light spreads across the ceiling, making the room feel brighter. Cheaper bulbs have a closed plastic back and only focus the light beam forwards leaving the ceiling a bit dark. Much happier with these.

Bought these to replace inefficient halogen spot lights that came with extractor hood fan setup in my kitchen above the hob.The previous halogen bulbs were complete energy leeches and ran too hot, you could feel the heat they gave off more than a feet away. These new Philips LED bulbs give out the same amount of light for a fraction of the power usage and its practically a straight swap without the huge energy bill and heat output.Highly recommend.

i got these to replace the 4 50w halogen spots in the kitchen, well i moved in here june 2017 & i thought they were leds until 2-3 weeks ago when 1 blew, then i realised they were halogen not led, i cant vouch for longivity yet as i only had them in 2 weeks or energy efficiency yet, but i can tell you that they are just as bright as the 50w halogen bulbs i had in there before & hopefully these will last longer than 2 & half years or so ..?
