I am posting this review on several 'Hue' products. I have mentioned the qualities of specific items in the final paragraph.I wanted to move from tungsten bulbs to LED's and need to have dimming control. Initially I tried the Varilight dimmers and Philips dimmable LED bulbs. Whilst bright enough the dimming feature was stepped rather than smooth and even changed if the supply voltage varied.I decided to try Philips Hue. Amazon were extremely helpful when I made the transition.Our system uses two Echo Dots and One Echo for voice control. You will also need a Hue Bridge for full control.Our Lounge (11 bulbs), Dining Room (3 bulbs), Kitchen 2 Light Fittings & sensor and Bathroom (2 Bulbs)& sensor are all Hue with Alexa control in the three living rooms. It is amazing.AdvantagesSuperb smooth control using the Hue switches. These can be placed anywhere or used as a remote.Alexa control is absolutely precise, "Alexa, Lounge 50%" and it is. "Alexa, lights on" and ALL lights come on, in all rooms.Each bulb may be controlled individually or in a group.There is no need for an electrician - there is no wiring to do, just change the bulbs and set up the wireless control.Extremely well made, quality products.Easy to extend into other rooms as each bulb acts as a wi-fi extenderStarter packs are good value and easy to set-up.In time, most of the disadvantages are eliminated and it really is fun to have a lighting system that is fully flexible.DisadvantagesExpensive - VeryNo easy to find set up details. Do no try a complex arrangement unless if you're familiar with wi-fi systemsNot all bulbs types are available. The Hue bulbs may be too big for your existing fitting. Check carefully before buying.Sometimes a bulb cannot be found by the system and patience may be required. We have never had one that wouldn't work - eventually.You need to keep your original wall light switches ON all the time.In the event of a power failure, all the lights come on when power is restored. Switching them OFF the old way (wall switch) and ON again solves the problem but it could be difficult if you're away on holiday.Alexa can misunderstand and possibly start playing music instead.Hue White Ambiance RunnerBeautifully made. Great range of angles for light direction. Much smaller than I anticipated. With the hub, bulb can change light temperature for reading, relaxing etc. Difficult to fit. May be fiddly to make the connections. Could use the Wago range of connectors instead of those supplied.

It’s pretty good quality. Despite the drop in quality of Philips lightings in recent years, these ones seem to be the premium range.
