There is quite some considerable range to the Oral-B toothbrushes and it is easy to get lost in comparing all the different models and end up wondering which are good and which have all kinds of stuff you won't ever want or use. The good news for this Oral-B Smart Series 6500 is that the brush itself is good, the bad news is that there are some things in the package you really don't need.Let's take things one step at a time. What do you want from an electric toothbrush? If you are like most people what you will want after the first day or so of playing around with it is to be able to pick it up, turn it on, and give your teeth a good clean without thinking about it.You know those days when you roll out of bed more asleep than awake and shove the brush in your mouth and want it to do what it does without you having to have anything like laser sharp focus on what you are doing? And those nights when you are ready to fall into bed and disappear into a sleep that can't come soon enough? Well during those times all you need is the first mode on this brush. The basic 'clean your teeth in four quadrants for 30 seconds each' mode. And frankly that first mode is what you will end up using almost all the time.Being that is the case, for most people the better option is to go for one of the basic Oral-B models. The Oral-B Pro 2000 is an excellent choice for most people. It does that basic four quadrants for 30 seconds each clean and that's about all it does. Or if you prefer a 'traditional' more rectangular head then take a look at the Oral-B Trizone 2000. Basic, simple brushes that get the job done.Back to the good things about this Smart Series 6500 package:The brush body feels good in the hand. It has a rubberised finish and the size makes for a nice comfortable grip. The lights on it are bright and clear. You won't miss the light on the back if it lights up to let you know you are pressing too hard on your teeth. You get two handles. Yes, having a second handle for your partner is a very good idea. Otherwise they end up using your one without changing the brush head,There is a dedicated mode selection button. On older models there was only one button to turn it on and cycle through the modes, having a dedicated button for power and another for cycling the modes is vastly better. It's a definite improvement over previous generations. And the not so good things:The Wireless Smart Guide is a bit of a gimmick. You don't need it. It can distract you so you end up looking at the time going along instead of paying attention to what is going on in your mouth. The brush works just fine without it too, as you get a very noticeable 'jolt' from the brush after each 30 second period, and an even more noticeable series of jolts at the end of 2 mins. You don't really 'need' a translucent plastic coffin to hold one of the brush bodies. It's nice enough if you travel with your brush a great deal, but for once or twice a year, no, you don't need it.The holder for the brush heads is kinda pointless. The impression I get is that Oral-B are trying to convince you that you need to buy multiple sets of heads and have them all in use all the time. That just does not happen for normal people. Who has the time for it? Most everyone will just brush and floss and get out the bathroom and not fiddle around with a different brush head every time they go to clean their teeth. The package only contains one set of the included brush heads. So you get two bodies but only one set of heads. That seems a bit cheap to me.So, overall I have to say the Smart Series 6500 is good at what it does. The brush bodies are nice and comfortable in the hand and the brush does a very good job of cleaning your teeth. But for most people the package is overkill, it has too much stuff you don't actually 'need'.

The Braun Oral-B SmartSeries 6500 Electric Toothbrush is a top-of-the range electric toothbrush that's designed to ensure that the user gets the full performance out of the device whilst providing a powerful brushing action to ensure that the user's teeth are cleaned to a very high standard. To achieve this Oral-B have firstly designed an electric toothbrush that really works overtime to get the bristles cleaning off as much plaque and 'lodged in' food as possible. To help ensure that the user gets the full use out of the toothbrush, a separate wireless monitor is included that times the use of the brush, separating the mouth into quarters with a recommended 30 seconds spent on each quarter. The monitor can also be set for a Deep Clean, Sensitive, Whitening or Massage, or indeed manually customised for specific user requirements. The brush and monitor also inform the user when too much pressure is applied to the teeth, with a glowing red light illuminating the reverse side of the brush and a warning icon simultaneously appearing on the monitor screen. To be honest, this turned out to be a bit of a godsend for me, and has already resulted in me adjusting the pressure I apply to the toothbrush after just over one week of daily use.The rechargeable battery life seems to be pretty impressive. The manual states that you can use the toothbrush for up to 10 days without recharging. I can't say that I have any idea if this claim is true or not, but it does seem to hold its charge very well.As far as the product's actual performance goes, for the week or so that I've been using it, I have to say that I've found the toothbrush to achieve excellent results; really getting into those awkward nooks and crannies, between the teeth and around the gum line. After brushing I always floss between my teeth and since using this particular electric toothbrush I have already noticed a slight but nevertheless noticeable decline in the amount of 'substance' collected during flossing. I presume that this is because the 3-way brushing action of the toothbrush has managed to reach in between my teeth to a greater extent and removed an increased proportion of the plaque that was lodged there already. The various gadgetry such as the Bluetooth functionality and the illuminating displays are all pretty swish (if you ask me) with the battery power indicator showing the user exactly how much juice is left in the toothbrush at any one given time. The toothbrush, although slightly larger than previous Braun Oral-B models, however it does still feel comfortable and its ergonomic design fits snuggly in the user's hand. The electric toothbrush set also includes an extra handset (i.e. a whole extra toothbrush), a handy stand with a brush-head storage section as well as a hard plastic travel case for the toothbrush. All in all it's a pretty impressive electric toothbrush with plenty of nifty gadgetry going on to ensure a darn good clean. It's unmistakably top-of-the-range and has a price tag to show it. All that's left to decide is whether or not all this extra fancy pancy malarkey is really worth it?

I am reviewing the Oral-B Smart Series 6500 Electric Rechargeable Toothbrush Powered by Braun - Two Handle Pack. Here are my thoughts:^^ What a great complete package, two handles, extra tips, a charging station with spaces for more brushes and an app you can download to your phone (does not work with Winows though).^^ I know it sounds silly but I love to monitor my progress and cleaning my teeth can usually be such a chore, but with this I am so much keener to brush.^^ Bluetooth toothbrushes? Who'd have thought? Some people still do not believe me when I say I have bluetooth toothbrushes but it's a great idea. You do need to keep bluetooth so the app can sync with your progress via the brushes and the timer.^^ The smart timer I have stuck on my bathroom room,so as soon as I pick up my brush and start, it jumps into action and shows me the time I am taking to brush each quarter or my mouth, from top right, bottom, to bottom left and top left. Each time it changes it buzzes and when it gets to the end of the full routine, which is two minutes, the brush vibrates a second or two longer as a sign.^^ There is a red light that flashes and a smiley face that gets upset if you use it wrongly and apply to much pressure when cleaning your teeth.^^ The brushes can also have some of these features switched off, if you prefer them to be.^^ In the replacement set of brushes I was supplied with two types, a cross brush head and one used more for whitening which has a round rubbery bit in the centre. It was nice to be able to try this out as I had never used a whitening brush before.^^ Easy to use, no setting up required apart from downloading the app, but you don't need the app to use the brushes although I find this more fun in a geeky kind of way.^^ There are seven modes including deep clean, whitening and sensitive.^^ It is supplied with a two pin plug, so you will need a plug adapter.^^ Also comes with a handy travel case.^^ Love this set! I have never brushed my teeth so much, whilst enjoying it, too! ^^ My teeth are already showing a better whiteness than ever before.Overall:This is absolutely fabulous, darling. Best toothbrush I have ever owned, although I must say that is mostly because it's a whole package: two electric toothbrushes, replacement tips, with an app and smart timer. I'm a very visual person in that I love to monitor, set goals and keep track of how I am doing. needless to say I have actually been brushing my teeth more often and for longer just to get the full 6 stars and a winking smiley face on the smart timer... I know, I am probably too easily pleased but it works and my teeth are much whiter for it.Disclosure:I was supplied a free or discounted sample for test and evaluation purposes in return for my honest and unbiased opinion. It is my hope that my views, whether positive or negative, will help other potential buyers make up their own minds. Thank you for reading. Never before has teeth cleaning been such an adventure: always used to be put toothpaste on brush, scrub, rinse, done. Now it seems even toothbrushes need to be connected to the world; the only thing missing here, is a quick post to Facebook link to share your brushing updates (note that there actually is one already, but nobody needs to mention it).If you asked me a few years ago (or even months for that matter) if I would ever consider owning a bluetooth enabled toothbrush, I would most definitely laugh very loudly, probably in your face. Here we are though, and I for one am pleased to be here. The pack - as the picture suggests - actually comes with two toothbrushes. It's not marketed as a twin pack, which seems either an obvious oversight, as it would appeal more - or a sneaky ploy to get us to buy two. As it is, I now use one, and my wife uses the other.Connection to our phones via bluetooth was simple (mine an Android Samsung, hers an iPhone 6), and coupled with the Oral-B app, we can now not only come up with special cleaning "journeys", to help with things such as teeth whitening, or bad breath, but we can also compare histories of our daily brushing. Woop.Apart from coming with several brush heads, a travel pack and charging stand; this also comes with a little clock/timer that sticks to your bathroom wall (or wherever you brush from). This is great for the connectable devices (there can be only two), as it automatically starts the timer when you switch the brush on, but also the clock is a useful reminder when your children mistake 2 minutes and 2 seconds (easily done). As far as the actual teeth cleaning goes, this is a pretty good tool; it's comfortable to hold, and easy to manoeuvre around your mouth. The allotted teeth cleaning time is split (either over 4 or 6 sections), with the brush handle vibrating when each section is up, so you know when to move to the next part of your mouth. This is good to ensure you aren't spending too much time in one area, and missing another. The brush also flashes red if you apply too much pressure, but you soon get into the habit of not doing this. After the teeth cleaning time is up, the app will suggest stuff such as flossing, rinsing etc. it can apparently also be updated by your dentist if they want you to focus on specific areas. That's not weird at all.One thing I have noticed since using this, is the charge time - the charge only seems to last a few days, which is fine - but takes a seriously long time to recharge. I put mine on charge overnight, with one bar (of three) lit. When I woke the next day, it was still charging, with only two bars lit. That is an excessively long charge time, and something I think Oral-B need to look into.Overall, this toothbrush pack is the complete all-in solution in my opinion; I thought I was happy with a £2 brush from my local supermarket, until I started using this. Now we can have competitions on who is the best tooth cleaner.

Who knew brushing your teeth could become such a technological palaver. However, that said I was sent this all singing OralB 6500 toothbrush and so I have now been using it for 5 days and I thoroughly recommend it.I have to confess the Bluetooth thing hasn't rocked my boat or changed my life and I see it as a pure marketing gimmick. However, the toothbrush as an everyday implement for brushing your teeth is superb. The toothbrush wands took almost a day to charge up. I selected which brush head to use, click it on, add toothbrush and put in mouth and switch on. The pressure is just right and the cleaning has been superb. I adore black tea and am well aware it can stain my teeth. In just a few days my teeth look visibly cleaner, brighter and whiter. I don't use a whitening toothpaste either.I have had most success from the simple precision clean head and the flossing head. There is one for sensitive teeth and despite the fact I feel I have sensitive teeth I am happy to use the other brush heads. The motion is just right; I say this because I reviewed a Colgate Omron a while back and felt it was going to pull out my fillings - too noisy and too harsh. This Oral B 6500 seems just right. If you press too hard on your teeth the wand vibrates to tell you and then it does the same again in a different rhythm to tell you you have completed your brushing time. Then turn off the toothbrush, take it out of your mouth and rinse well. I say this as if you take the toothbrush out of your mouth with it still on, then your bathroom walls will be suitably splattered! I did that in a rather sleepy state the other day - oops. When you place the toothbrush back on the charger it automatically turns off (the timer ...) and recharges. The incredibly detailed instruction booklet states the toothbrush will easily fulfil 10+ days without charging. So, day 5+ - and I am very pleased with this electric toothbrush - and will continue to use.I thoroughly recommend it as a toothbrush but still remain highly sceptical of the bluetooth gadgetry and have now abandoned it. The thought of brushing my teeth and having to check my phone is too much. I cherish not switching my phone on until my working day is about to begin and it is switched off early evening.

The Oral-B Smart 6500 comes with two toothbrush handle sets, four brush heads, a wall mountable LED unit, a nifty holder to keep your toothbrush heads in when not using them and a mains charger. The handles will need to be charged for a good few hours before first use and I have found that the charge lasts about a week for two people brushing twice a day. The four heads that you get all do different things: whitening, flossing, sensitive etc and are probably included to showcase the variety of heads that can be purchased separately and used with the handle. The LED display works via bluetooth connection with the handle of the brush; it shows you a countdown of brushing time per quadrant of your mouth whilst the handle vibrates once to alert you to move to the next quadrant. At the end of the two minute marker, the handle vibrates twice and flashes green and a smiley face shows up with four stars on the LED display. Do you need all that to brush your teeth? Probably not but it makes it more fun and actually ensures that you brush for the recommended amount of time.Brushing your teeth with this toothbrush is like using a Karcher Power Washer in your mouth. There is a booklet that comes with this set that will tell you all about the number of oscillations etc; however, bottom line is, NOTHING is left behind when using this brush. It really gives you the most incredible clean and leaves your mouth feeling refreshed, healthy and just clean, clean, clean. I now feel that I could not go back to using anything else as it just won't give me the depth of clean this toothbrush has.Is it worth the money? Yes definitely. This has improved my oral and dental health and I can't get over the clean feeling that I get every time I use this thing; nearly a month into using it and the novelty hasn't worn off. The extra bells and whistles of the bluetooth are bonus extras but the key thing is that the brush itself is exceptional. The fact that you get two handles and four heads plus storage unit also makes this brush worth the price tag in my opinion, especially if you have a family. Fabulous

I have been using Braun Oral-B toothbrushes for many years now, and never regretted buying one. I only have 2 complaints,1- after a few months of use, battery charge lasts less than one week. Fortunately I have both a 2000 series and a 3000 series handle. This means I can have one permanently on charge.2- The 2nd problem is the very small power button to press with wet hands. The smart series 6500 handle is substantially larger than previous models. This means the power button is larger and I hope it has larger batteries (only time will tell) this pack came with 2 handles so again one will be permanently on charge. On charge, a column of blue LEDs on the handle flashes in a moving pattern. When the flashing stops the handle is charged. When brushing your teeth this column of LEDs act as a power meter, a very useful function indeed. The smart series 6500 comes with an interactive wireless display. This is very easy to set up with the current time in either 12 hour or 24-hour mode. It is easy to synchronise the smart guide with both handles. When a handle is turned on the smart guide indicates how long you have been cleaning your teeth and every 30 seconds indicates when you should change quadrant. The motor on the handle also pulses and the green light flashes. After the recommended 2 minutes the motor pulses several times the green light flashes several times. The Smart guide also shows what mode the toothbrush is in. There are 6 modes, daily clean, deep clean, sensitive, whitening, gum care and tongue cleaning. My previous toothbrushes also had these modes but I only ever used daily clean. If you apply too much pressure, a red light in the handle lights up and the smart guide pulls a face.Handles have Bluetooth, you can download an app on your smartphone. Personally, I think that expensive smartphones and bathrooms do not mix! So I have not tried this function. All in all all though, this is definitely a very good toothbrush. A minor concern that the price is too high, but undoubtedly this will reduce dramatically nearer Christmas.

Oral-B without doubt make the best electric toothbrushes in the world. I've used one for many years and honestly would not change to anything else. The feeling of cleanness you get from one is just unmatched. This particular model is one of the top ones in the range. It has multiple brush programs, a vibration alert every 30 seconds, a pressure sensor and light and two other things that are Bluetooth related. The first of these is the bathroom clock/toothbrush timer. This is superb. The toothbrush links to it automatically and when you start brushing a timer starts counting. At 30 second intervals, a different part of a mouth diagram starts flashing to remind you to move to the next section of your teeth. It then gives you a star rating at the end of your brushing, and a smiley face. I really like this little device! It also acts as a bathroom clock when not timing your teeth cleaning sessions. Having had one of these for ages, I can also report that the time works for multiple brushes of the same type, and that the battery lasts for ages. The second Bluetooth feather is an App for your phone. To be honest, I found this to be a bit of a waste of time and stopped using it after a few days as I found the clock/timer device to be all I needed. This pack contains two handles and an assortment of heads and a charging station base.I do like the charging station as these are simplicity to uses. It must use some form of induction charging as there are no exposed electrical connections at all.The only strange thing with this double pack, is that although you are supplied with two handles, you only get one travel case. I strange omission, but not one I feel is worth deducting any stars for though.Overall, this is my favourite in the Oral-B range. I love the Bluetooth times and the brush feels more powerful that others in the range.Highly recommended.

I've used a couple of different electric toothbrushes over the years (including some cheaper Oral B models) and this is by far the best one I've used to date:- comes with 2x toothbrush handles (both identical, one with a large plastic protective case)- charging base- selection of 4 different brush heads to try- standalone timer unit- small stand for charging base/toothbrush heads. When using:- The toothbrush handle feels solid with a good grip- When switched on, it really does feel heavy duty and leaves your teeth feeling clean- The standalone timer unit switches on automatically when the toothbrush is switched on and displays a timer as well as shows you which quafrant of your mouth you shouldbe cleaning (as well as a smiley face!)- There's a bright red LED that comes on if you're brushing too hard against your gums/teeth- You can change cleaning modes using a button on the handle; the mode used is displayed on the timer unit- When finished, the timer unit displays a number of stars if you've been good and cleaned your teeth properly!Other points:- Charging is easy and the same as other Oral B units (toothbrush sits upright on charging stand)- There is an indicator to show the level of battery charge- There is a free, downloadable app for iPhones (and I think Android)- But I couldn't get my toothbrush to connect via Bluetooth to my phone therefore can't use the app properly (I'll keep trying but I do know that iPhones can be temperamental at times).Overall I think it is a great product - a little expensive but if there are 2 of you using it then the second handle makes the price a lot more reasonable.

I have yet to be disappointed by an Oral-B toothbrush. I like this one. If I were mad about everything technological, I should probably love it.The contents of the box are generous: 2 handles; 1 case for carrying around; 4 toothbrush heads, each of a different type; a charger; a plinth for the charger incorporating a head hold with lid; and the kit for the Bluetooth connection, including two batteries. The manual is multi-lingual and the print a sensible size.At this point, my reservations crept in. At 71, I still have all my own teeth and am good at making sure they are properly cleaned. I am truly grateful to the inventor of the electric rechargeable toothbrush and I use one all the time and would not be without it.For me, the device under review does more than I need. The handle is comfortable to hold and the on/off switch well positioned. It's attractive when it lights up. The vibration it gives off to indicate it's time to switch to a different area to brush is clearly felt. I enjoy using it.I think the extra technology will be a boon to parents who are having trouble getting their children to clean their teeth properly and this will make this particularly product an excellent buy, worth five stars and the purchase price. For potential buyers similar to myself, I would suggest looking at cheaper models in the Oral-B range. Even the most basic are very good. There is no point in paying for refinements you will not use.

The networked toothbrush. It sounds like a joke, but Braun have made it a reality! These toothbrushes (you get a pair of them in the box) really do talk to your smartphone, or the included LCD display unit, using Bluetooth, allowing them to report back on your daily brushing habits. Clearly, nobody needs this. Humanity has coped perfectly well for years with standalone toothbrushes. However, it is quite fun! And the toothbrushes themselves are excellent. I've used Oral-B brushes for many years, and prefer them to the Philips ones. These 6500 range are slightly chunkier than the more basic models, but this is presumably in part to accommodate the larger battery. These easily last a full week between charges, which is great if you don't plan on keeping them permanently on the charger (which most people probably won't, unless they have multiple shaver sockets around the house). The over-pressure alert light is a very useful feature. The little LCD unit provides a timer and a quadrant display. Personally, I find this a little unnecessary, since the brushes themselves mark the passage of time with a stutter and green light flash every 30 seconds. It's a gimmick, but it may help encourage people (especially children) to brush for a full 2 minutes, if they're reluctant to do so otherwise.

A very good toothbrush, with 3 heads, and two handles, It's also bluetooth. There are different settings for the toothbrush. Tongue, whitening, normal, gum care . . . All the heads feel different on the teeth, and there is a buzz on your gums when you're done, which is never a bad thing.I definitely would not pay the original £280 asking price, but would till have trouble paying the sale price (£120). I come from a family that buys manual toothbrushes every 3 months or so, probably £2 - £4 max. So this would have to last me a long time to make it worth the while. It charges fairly quickly and the feedback when you press too hard works well. It cleans the teeth well, and helps keep my mouth fresh. So, it does what it sets out to.I'm not certain about all the bells and whistles, but then again you get what you pay for. I'll say it again, it does what it says it's gonna do. Each head does feel different, the handle feels good and solid in the hand. There's also a wireless smartguide, telling you if you've been good or bad in your brushing (hence the bluetooth). It comes with the battery for it, which isn't always the case these days.Overall, I like it. However, as a Scotsman (which I am) it's a lot of money for cleaning your teeth. :-D

I've always been a fan of the oralb electric toothbrush handles as oralb refers to them I had their very 1st one & have upgraded to various versions over the years. This purchase was also an upgrade (and there's nothing wrong with my other electric oralb handle, it still works perfectly after 10yrs).This handle is far more superior than the previous handles & has the different modes to work in conjunction with the various brush heads, it comes with the nifty timer clock, which kicks in when you start your handle up, or you can download the oralb app & use that timer via Bluetooth or set your own times into the app to suit your tooth brushing needs, the app also comes with other features as well. The handle comes with its own charger & storage for 4 heads & a great travel case, which I never had with other handles. I've used all the modes & they do all truely work doing a fantastic job on the knashers, tongue & gums.If you're considering investing in an oralb electric toothbrush, because this one is certainly not cheap to purchase I do strongly recommend it.I didn't purchase mine on Amazon, I did manage to get mine for a much cheaper price than was offered on Amazon.

This is my first real experience with an electric toothbrush. I was under the impression that they did not provide much more benefit over traditionl toothbrushes, and never had the opportunity to try one. I was pleasantly surprised with this model. This set comes complete with two brush units, charge station, replaceable heads and a timer. The headset is ergonomic and comfortable to hold and brush with. There are 6 various settings to brush with. The bristles are soft, yet firm, and provide a good clean. There are four extra brushes included in the set, and a range are available to purchase separately, so you can find your ideal size/shape. The headset can also connect to your smartphone via bluetooth s you can follow your brushing time, receive pressure feedback of how hard you are brushing, etc. This is quite a nice feature, but may be overkill for a lot pf people. Battery life is good, and I keep my headset on the charging unit between brushes.I feel that this toothbrush is really good and I am so happy that I jumped onto the electric bandwagon. The bluetooth connectivity is the icing on the cake of a fantastic brushing experience. 5/5

I have tested quite a few electronic toothbrushes for Vine over the past few years, some better than others. This Braun/Oral-B model contains two toothbrush bases and four heads, which is both useful and economical. In the set, there's a carrying case, a clock/quad timer and a brush head holder; the ability to connect via Bluetooth to an Oral B app is also a possibility. The initial charge took more than seven hours to rise from zero to power level two. The brush was adjustable and the quadrant timer was rather useful for ensuring that each quarter receives a thirty second clean. My teeth feel squeaky clean afterwards and there's also the option of a three minute deep clean function. So,why doesn't this product receive a 5* rating from myself? Well, it's a good system, but there are a few too many twiddly bits for my taste. Most toothbrush systems emit a tiny beep when the thirty second quadrant clean is complete, so the LCD clock isn't strictly necessary. Saying that, I appreciated the extra toothbrush.
