I don't normally writte a review for a product but this phone has simply deserved one. I didn't have too many expectations from a £220 phone yet I did a lot of research and the G8 power seemed to be the right one. I must say I ordered the phone from Argos as the delivery time was better than here. The phone made a good first impression: the screen is bright enough for most days outside (especially in England( and crisp, the colours are natural and the resolution is more than descent. The camera is surprisingly good and I would say almost excellent in good lighting conditions. There are some fun features that come with the camera like a 118° ultrawide and a macro mode. The Android 10 version is a pleasure to use and the phone comes with few pre installed software, which I personally love! The phone comes with a Hybrid Sim card slot which means either 2 SIMs or 1 SIM and 1 SD-card to extend the 64GB memory. As I have most of my photos/Videos on a cloud, memory space doesn't really matter to me that much. The CPU is fast enough - Apps load decently fast and gaming isn't a problem either. I can imagine that pro gamers who use more demanding 3D games will have their difficulties but for me it's more than sufficient. But now to the best feature of this phone: the Battery! Yes, the phone is thicker than others but this battery lasts and lasts. I tested the phone on the weekend with semi heavy usage and I got 2 full days. During the week (and me working) I get almost 3 days out of this phone. That's incredible and exactly what I was looking for. No more commuting and being afraid that the phone won't make it for the journey home and a camping weekend won't be a problem and no additional power bank needed. The missing NFC (Contactless) is the only real disadvantage but I can live with that very well. Not having to fear that my phone dies in the worst moments outweighs the disadvantage of having to pull my credit card out of my wallet at the till. Overall more than surprised with this big and heavy yet "premium feel" phone. Would definitely recommend!

I've had phones from the Moto G series for the past few years, upgraded regularly and passed the old one on within the family. I had the Moto G7 Power which I was very happy with, particularly the extended battery life which totally removed any "battery anxiety" no matter how heavily I used it. Unfortunately, for the only time in my life, I dropped it on concrete and badly cracked the screen and decided to replace it with a Motorola One Action. That phone was absolutely fine except for the fact that it doesn't have the very long battery life of the Moto G7 Power which I missed much more than I expected to. As soon as I saw that the Moto G8 Power was due to be released I decided to go for that as soon as it became available.Ordered from Amazon Tuesday, arrived Wednesday (yesterday) and I've been playing with it all day today.First impressions - Great ! I've got the extended battery back, no notch in the screen compared to the G7, speakers (clarity and volume) are better and the camera upgrades are significant. Easy one tap switch between standard lens (x1), wide-angle (x0.5) and telephoto (x2). You can still "zoom" the lens with finger swipes in the normal way. The close focussing macro lens is fun and I've created some original images of textures from items around the house to use as screen wallpapers. Everything else works fine as usual. There is a change in navigating "home" which initially seemed odd but within today I have completely adapted to it and now feels better than the old way.If you've never had a Moto G series before, this is the one to jump in on. Well made, reliable, looks fine and does everything you need unless you are one of those "must have a flagship phone" people. Excellent value for money compared to other big name brands and most of all, the battery life (5,000 mah) compared to most mainstream phones is a real game-changer. Trust me, you will never want to go back !

A superb phone, I have previously owned a G5S phone and G2 phone.I got this Phone Capri Blue on the 20th February for £220.Amongst the great points about G8 Power -* Superb battery life - I have gone for two days before it requires a charge. I must admit its a little disconcerting that I leave the house in the morning with my phone at 55%! But I know it will last me the whole day* incredible Turbo charging speeds - 1% per minute so after 60 minutes it will charge the phone by 60%.* It comes supplied with a transparent case* For the average user who just uses their phone for texting, phone, tv shows (netflix etc) without the worry of running out of battery power then this phone is highly recommended.I've not tried it for gaming.* Due to the improved resolution/bigger screen, I can fit a lot more icons and movies look great on it. Also reading articles on it is a lot less scrolling as more text can fit on it.* In comparison to the G5S, the G8 Power is about half a cm bigger but it has a much better bezel to screen ratios and is a bit heavier.* From past experience of Motos, I can expect the Moto G8 Power to receive one major update in early 2021 (Android 11), and during this time there will be a series of security updates for about couple of years then before being "abandoned" by Motorola as they focus on new models. The only downside I have found with this phone is that there is no Front flash. With the G Moto models, there is no notification light so as a workaround, I have had to install third party flash notification software to alert me to missed notifications via the front flash which would flash every minute. Unfortunately this is now not possible with the Moto G8 Power due to its missing front flash.Another downside, I believe there is no NFC but does not affect me as I do not use it.Taking one star off due to missing front flash light.

I'm finally free of battery anxiety. 48 hours after last charge, I apperently have 77% battery remaining :-) Superb. I just hope it carries on this way. The only let down is the deliberate 'hobbling' of the phone with the hybrid SIM/SD tray. My old Moto G4 worked with dual SIMs AND an SD card. This phone has been downgraded so it's either dual SIMs OR one SIM + SD. Such a shame. If you can live with that gripe though (as I have grudgingly decided I can), it's a great phone.I was also please to find that my existing Moto / Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 chargers still work with 'TurboPower' fast charging mode here. A four pack of Anker USB C adapters also mean I can continue to use my old Micro USB cables, rather than replace them all.[Update] I have discovered that the G8 Power will operate in 'TurboPower' mode both with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 chargers and with chargers using the more recent USB Power Delivery standard. Good news in that it means it will work well with a wider range of fast chargers.[Another update] As others have pointed out, the other functionality you might reasonably expect the be present on this phone, but which is missing, is NFC and 5GHz WiFi. Neither happen to be significant issues for me, but it's still a bit odd that they're absent. That said, 5 months on, I'm still very pleased with this phone.

Having only had the phone for today it's quite a good deal. I currently have the Samsung Galaxy S8 so size is comparable, the G8 Power is slightly bigger but not by much. The screen is not as good for a start but still nice, just not the super amazing screen of the Samsung. It performs great, literally everything I've done is fluid and fast, just what I'd expect from Android 10.It feels nice, good weight and build quality but again not the premium feel of the Samsung but hey, you paid £220 for it what do you expect.Great amount of storage, great dual sim option, or expandable with SD card, one or the other, I doubt many buyers will require 2 sims and also more than 64GB storage at £220,if you do then you're just cheap, get something more appropriate.Cameras are great I've tried all the combinations and they work marvellously. The so-called AI is more Android than Motorola I imagine but they still take good photos. If you are in the market for a good phone that doesn't need to be number one in every category then this is one of if not the best option on the market right now(since it only came out today). My advice would be to wait a few weeks before you buy in case the early adopters find something seriously wrong if you don't want to jump straight in.

Although not purchased through Amazon, I got the Motorola G8 Power through Vodafone as an upgrade. I have two phones, the other one is an Oppo Reno 10x Zoom. The Oppo has a Snapdragon 855 chipset with 8GB of RAM and to be honest, I can't notice a difference in speed between to the Motorola and the Oppo. I'm sure if I put them against eachother at the same time, the Oppo may open apps and games quicker but using them both separately, I never felt the Motorola lacked power. The battery life is great, currently I haven't charged the phone in 38 hours and it still has 62% battery and that's with almost 5 hours screen on time. The camera isn't amazing but it's definitely acceptable for the price, just one of those things you have to accept when buying a budget smartphone. It still has a wide angle rear camera and decent quality but it isn't as good as my Oppo which to be fair, is a camera focused phone. Gaming isn't a problem either, I played Call of Duty Mobile for a couple of hours without problems which was surprising as it's a demanding game. Overall, it's a very good budget phone and highly recommend it.

Hubby has had motorolas for years but this is my first one after having many android phones, a windows phone and an iphone. this phone has a very good battery life - 3 days , even with quite a bit of useage. It recharges completely in around an hour and a half. Also a bonus compared to my other phones which all had to be recharged overnight. The screen is large and bright and the colours vivid. It takes a bit of time to learn how it is different from other makes - it has different gestures, for example, and slightly different menu and file systems, but once learned, it is fast, responsive, and easy to use. I bought a flip case to put it in to keep it protected.i'm getting used to the Hd photos - video calling is a challenge when i can see all my wrinkles, and the photos are automatically backed up . You need to make sure that the settings are for photos to only be uploaded when on wifi, else it will eat into your data allowances. All in all, I'm very happy with it and expect to remain so for the next couple of years or more.Read full review...

Motorola have always offered impressive specs for the money, and this phone is no exception! The 6.4 inch screen is full HD 1080p resolution 399ppi, excellent viewing angles. Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 octa-core processor which handles everything without effort. It has 4gb RAM with 64gb onboard memory with the option of inserting an SD card. The fingerprint reader is very fast. I find the huge 5000mah battery a real beast and I just can't kill it no matter how much I use it. Build quality is solid and I have the Capri Blue which personally I find so refreshing from the usual black. Camera takes really good photos I have to say and with Android 10 this really is great value and performance for the money.Oh, and for the record, this phone's screen has a considerably higher pixel density (399ppi) than the iPhone 11, iPhone SE 2020 both of which are new phones and only (326ppi) so go and do the research and see for yourselves. In a nutshell, I'm very pleased with my purchase!

Got this to replace a Cubot Note S which had run out of app space and the GPS never worked properly from new. I hadn't realised it was a rebadged Lenovo until it arrived. The dual SIM feature is useful if you are going abroad and want a cheap SIM for local calls whilst retaining the home one as backup.Very pleased so far, the most noticeable feature is the amazing battery life, it only gets to about 50% after a week from a full charge! (I turn my phone off at night to avoid interruptions). Love the flick gestures to turn on the torch or camera. Very little bloatware. Would have had 5 stars if it had a magnetometer but not a deal breaker for me.The only slight niggle is the USB C charging cablerather than the more standard micro although I suspect the type C might be a bit more robust and is reversible. I put in the SIM and SD card from the old phone and it was up and running in a few minutes.Read full review...

This is a great phone. For a little over £200 you get a nice large screen (visible in sunlight), a great camera (macro thru to panoramic), almost unbeatable battery life and a reliable operating system. You could spend twice the money and still only get half the phone of this Moto G8 Power. My last two phones were Sony Xperia an a Samsung S8. This is a way superior phone in my view. Certainly far better value. I almost opted for an iPhone 11, but so glad I didn't spend all those extra bucks on a phone that's may have a bit more "flash" but is really only marginally more featured than this Motorola. OH and the sound from this G8 is pretty good out of the two speakers too and it has a headphone socket for those of us who favour cables over Bluetooth (which has a good range by the way).£200 well spent!

I have been using this phone since release. I expected this phone to be average for £220. New operating system functions are intuitive and easy to use and it gives a bit of a computer desktop feel. By holding anywhere on screen I get drop down menu options. And other little things for me works great. Haven't had a single issue with a phone. Mainly bought for battery life, especially when last year was top phone battery life. I don't feel any difference between premium phone and this. Makes you think. There is no fiction to pay with this phone. I don't know why they went that route, I guess helps to push battery life. I just got a smart watch for payments.

This is a very good phone for what it costs. The battery can last from around 2 to 4 days depending on how much the device is used. This would be it's standout feature. The camera works just fine and produces clear photos in most situations.Beware that the screen is not an amoled display meaning the colours are neutral and not vibrant. But, otherwise the clarity is good. The colour or lack of it is not an issue for me, but may be for someone.Included in the box is a clear flexible cover that protects the back and edges of the phone. Nothing fancy just functional.

I have been really happy with my Moto G6, but decided the time was right to upgrade .I wont go into all the details, there are plenty of pro reviews out there , for me the main draws were the camera , the battery life, better speakers and the bigger phone size. All were as expected , esp pleased with the wide angle camera on the rear , and the substantial extra settings, inc manual, over the G6 .If you have a G6 it is well worth the upgrade to this phone, in my opinion. For the money, not sure how you could possibly not give this phone 5 stars.

I'm going to try and keep this short as nobody wants to read a book when looking at a review. This phone doesn't do anything amazing and doesn't exceed in anything. What it DOES do is bring a very balanced feature set that it does just right. You won't get an amazong camera or amazing sound, but what you do get is something that is more than good enough for the average person. This is hoenstly the best phone i've ever had, and i've had more than 30 in my lifetime. It would've got 5/5 if it wasn't for the fact it doesn't have NFC on this phone.

1.8.2020

I've had all the Moto series since they came out . This unsurprisingly is an improved and evolved G8 . Fast and runs everything I need to run on a phone. Don't share the camera gripes expressed by othe reviews. Pics are sharp and colours good . Apart from slightly skimpy 64gb it's at least as good as a Samsung a70 I've used . I could have used a slightly bigger screen option and storage option . I can't keep excess apps on the SD card as per other Android handsets . The huge battery can do 2 days . Excellent £200 phone .
