I got rather confused when I realised that there were no instructions with this product, as I couldn't figure out how the tube was meant to push up. But, I quickly realised that there's no outer push-up motion needed - you just unscrew and the wand pops out as normal. This has the most unusual brush I've ever seen, as it's more like an eyebrow brush - there are only bristles on one side, and the brush is curved so that when you apply the mascara, you do so in an upward motion that coats and lengthens the entire lash, pushing it upwards and making it long seriously longer.Application is really easy once you have the brush the right way round, but the lid is so smooth and shiny,it's a little fiddly to grip so make sure your hands are free of cream before handling; I actually found it better to hold the wand with slightly damp fingers. This is a true black, a jet black and it made my black lashes look longer, thicker and there wasn't any clumping, as you can't really get too much on this brush. The mascara is thick enough that one coat is enough for day use for me, though at night for a more dramatic effect, I'd probably use two. This lasted me an entire 9hrs of wear, with only the tiniest bit of 'feathering' towards the end of the evening, and then again, only because my eyes were a bit watery from the cold wind and I ended up blinking a lot.A great buy, even at the full RRP.

I was very pleased with the performance of this mascara, but it wasn’t ideal for my lower lashes. I like the contoured design of the slimline brush for my top lashes - the curve of the bristles align nicely along the eyelid - and the brush holds a good amount of mascara and coats the lashes well. The actual formula is first rate; the consistency is very good and it doesn’t clog lashes when applying a second coat. My top lashes looked thicker and longer and I was very impressed. My lower lashes are not as thick or as long as my top ones, nor is the curvature of the lids the same as the uppers. I found that if I applied the brush using the middle section, I was left with smudges.Using the very thin end of the brush instead, I had to keep loading it with more mascara in order to get a decent coating. This was more time consuming than using a normal thickness brush.I won’t be buying this particular mascara in future. However, I was very impressed with the quality of the brush - if not the curve - and the no-clog formula. I will definitely look at other Maybelline mascaras and hope that they have this same formula with a regular sized brush.

Maybelline Push Up Angel Mascara, in Very Black, is a very effective product. It surprised me, initially, as I found the mascara wand to be the strangest design that I have ever come across. It is made of such tiny little brush hairs, and I thought I had somehow broken it when I unscrewed the top and it appeared. As it turns out, this short-brush design is ultra effective in what it needs to achieve. The curved wing to it also helps to flick the lashes outward a little, as well as curving them upward. It makes for a dramatic look, and I have had a lot of compliments since trying it out!The strange brush is not only effective in applying the mascara, but also in helping you to comb out any clumps that may happen as you near the end of the bottle. The design has clearly been very well thought out!The overall look of the product is great, It makes your lashes look much fuller, longer and a lovely deep black. It isn't waterproof, but it lasted a day's work beautifully well.Overall, this mascara is a really good product, and I would happily recommend it. I will definitely be buying more of it!

I took the opportunity to use the Push Up Angel Mascara for a Christmas ball and got a few compliments whilst reapplying in the ladies! My main problem with mascara is that one of my lower eyelids seems to have lost a clump of lashes on one side (I still don't know when this happened!). I find wearing mascara only draws attention to this, however as the brush is curved and has short bristles I found that it didn't clump, which can escalate the problem further, and I was able to put a thin layer on my bottom lashes which gave them more volume but not enough to draw too much attention. The brush did however still allow me to put a couple of thicker layers on the top eyelashes which created lots of volume. They only downside I've found is the long stick on the brush, I tend to be quite clumsy and a smaller stick would give me more control and less opportunity to poke myself in the eye! Overall I would recommend this mascara, even for the less coordinated of us, it's worth the volume and flexibility it gives! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Wow, I simply love this mascara. It's absolutely perfect. I know the wand looks totally different from your usual mascara wand, but for me, it didn't take any time whatsoever to get used to. The wand makes it easy to apply mascara, it's very flexible and you can load it up with as much mascara as you want. The formula itself is very good, it's smudge and flake proof. I usually use two different mascaras to achieve desired effect (big, bold lashes) but this mascara does it all, so I don't need to mix anymore. For me, it takes two layers to get those full bold yet not clumpy lashes. I put on the first layer as normal combing lightly from roots to tips. Now on my second layer,I go in little zigzags from roots to tips and viola!!! My eyelashes look amazing. I never buy the same mascara twice. Just because I am a makeup junkie and like to try out new things each time. And let's admit, there are so many mascaras in today's market! But this one is definitely a keeper. I am not cheating on this one anytime soon ;)

On first look at the mascara wand I was confused as to why it didnt look like every other mascara, instead of a mascara wand it was a curved comb, the bristles only ran along one side starting short and getting gradually longer. I didn't think much as it didnt look like all the other mascara wands I thought it would be rubbish. Oh! How wrong I was! As I coated my lashes with the smooth formula I could feel the bristles on the wand combing through my eyelashes coating every single one, I only had to go over my lashes a few times before I had that long thick eyelash look, no clumps! None of my eyelashes sticking together, I was amazed! Honestly the best mascara I've ever used, most mascaras make my lashes point straight out but this one curled them upwards and elongated them, very glam! The ideal mascara for anyone who wants that false eyelashes look without having to wear falsies, I'd recommend this mascara to everyone, it's a must have! Oh brilliant - somebody has FINALLY realised that not all of us appreciate mascara brushes that look as if they could clean the toilet, that pick up clumps of product that can be seen across the room.I love all of this product, the easy to hold bottle, the deep, deep black and most of all the clever little narrow brush that really combs and separates lashes but also leaves them with a decent amount of product. The product went on beautifully, no clumps clinging to the narrow but deeply bristled brush that is the perfect size for really getting underneath lashes and lifting them. I normally associate Maybelline with the youth market but this compared extremely well with a premium product for older women that I have just trialled for review. The brush is really good at lifting lashes,it isn't just hype.I really hope to see this design of brush more widely used in the future and a move away from the massive unwieldy spikes that put product everywhere but where you want.

My wife has been using this Maybelline Push Up Mascara for a few days and is really happy with the result. The eye catching purple tube unscrews at the top to pop out the brush, which is an odd curved purple plastic with spike-like plastic bristles. At first we thought this wouldn't really work, but after trying it we were quite surprised to find that it allows the mascara to go on easily without clumps of it sticking to the eyelashes, even after a second coat. The top eyelashes were easier. probably due to the way the brush curves, and certainly have a better effect than those at the bottom, which were slightly harder to brush on, though still manageable and although the results didn't look as thick or long,it was still easy to see a big difference between that eye and the other, which hadn't had mascara applied yet.One thing to note, we couldn't replicate the length or 'wing' style of the pictures on Amazon from the advert, but the results were still good.

This is really good mascara and I use it a lot.It is not too heavy and maybe doesn't give false lash effect, but that is not what I am after. I don't want that my eyelashes look fake. I like how natural, long and black they look opposite false lash look, if that makes sense.I like very few mascaras and this is one of my favourites. Stays on all day long, no black circles under my eyes and I just love the fact that I can top it up during the day (if I need more dramatic look) and it still looks great without any clumps. The mascara wand is quite unuqe, it is not like those usual mascara spooly brushes. This is firm and tiny. Can reach even smaller lashes.I like to wiggle it through my laahes in kinda zig-zag motion and I just love the way it looks.Sometimes for more natural look, I wait when the mascara dries a bit on my lashes and then I comb through my lashes with clean spooly brush. Looks great.

I've tried so many mascaras over the years and ended up buying Maybelline's mascaras because they work so well. But this one is such an improvement on their other mascaras. The brush makes all the difference. Think about it - you have one thin line of eyelashes and manufacturers produce brushes that go entirely round the wand - meaning that most of the mascara on the brush is never used. The other problem with these types of brush is that the brushes that are not used can accidentally coat the eyelid with mascara. That doesn't happen with this mascara since the brush is a one-directional brush which targets only the eyelashes. It means you get through a lot less mascara and don't put it where you don't want it to be.It also is much easier to separate the eyelashes with a precision brush. Now I just have to hope they don't discontinue it because after 35 years, I've finally found the perfect mascara.

*sorry for the shoddy camera work** but I HAD to review! Bought this mascara because I'm on the hunt for one that doesn't leave big panda eyes which every mascara except bad gal lash by benefit, does to me. Bought this after a browse and I'm so glad I did!! The brush is weird compared to a conventional mascara but once you use it, it's so good! Catches every lash even the corner ones and lengthens and separates so well! I have a slight lift and tint left by the salon so can't really comment on its lift longevity BUT boy does it stay! Picture taken after a very sweaty 45 minute HIIT session at the gym and no smudge in sight!! I'm so pleased!! Would definitely recommend to anyone!!It also came sealed and bagged which was very reassuring after reading some mascara reviews on here which seem to suggest some are sent out second hand! Not the case here!!

Maybelline Push Up Angel Mascara Very black is one mascara I was simply amazed at how well it worked. I have been using mascara for years and they all stick to more or less the same design when it comes to the main applicator. This is where this mascara has a main unique design, the actual brush has short bristles on one side of the applicator. This helped me apply the mascara to even the shortest of eyelashes, and when I applied the mascara my eyelashes looked so long and full, which really brought my eyes into their own zone. This is an exceptional mascara which needed a bit of touching up through the day, but I have to say I was so pleased with the results I received from using it.Even the shortest of eyelashes looked so much better.I would happily recommend Maybelline Push Up Angel Mascara Very black as it delivers every result it promises.

On first opening I was a little put off by the unusual design of the wand which is like no other I have tried before. However I needn't have worried because the mascara itself is great & I got used to the wand very quickly. The wand is the rubbery type, it's really thin with bristles in a line rather than all around. It's perfect for getting right to the root of your lashes which lifts them & makes them appear longer.I really liked the formula, it goes on smoothly, gives good length & thickness in just one application.A second coat is easy & Its not clumpy at all.The black colour is a nice deep colour giving good coverage & it stays put ALL dayEasily washed off with warm waterThis is a really good mascara for one in the mid price bracket (£8)& easily equals if not betters many I have tried around the £20 mark
