'Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2' allows you, the player, to take control of a variety of Marvel's most famous characters, including Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, Wolverine and the Fantastic Four, in an action-packed game loosely based on the 'Civil War' comics event, which sees the superhero community divided into two factions in the wake of a disaster caused by super-powered beings. On one side, Tony Stark (aka Iron Man) and S.H.I.E.L.D. believe that the way forward is for superheroes to be registered, trained and controlled by the US Government. On the other, Captain America leads a group of rebels fighting for their freedom from these draconian measures. The format of the game is fairly straightforward - you control a team of four heroes, each with their own special powers and moves, and it's up to you whom you utilise from one level to the next. Some combinations make particularly effective teams (the Fantastic Four, or X-Men, for instance), and all have the scope to work together for especially powerful attacks on their enemies - 'fusion' moves. There's an impressive range of playable characters available, and the more you play with them, the more abilities and options you can unlock - there are new moves and alternate costumes available, for instance. You can train up and test your heroes' abilities in simulation modes, or participate in a Marvel trivia quiz to gain additional experience points.Unfortunately, the gameplay itself can become a little repetitive at times - a selection of boss battles aside, a lot of the levels are fundamentally similar, and require similar kinds of actions. After a while you'll be left with the feeling that you've done everything before. However, it has to be said, it's a pretty compelling game nonetheless, and the variety in the kinds of characters you can play with helps to keep it fresh. There's plenty of scope for re-plays, too - not only can you revisit past missions, but the plot takes you in different directions depending on whether you ally yourself with the pro or anti-registration camps.Ultimately, this isn't a complete success - but it's certainly the most enjoyable superhero game I've played by a long way. All too many of them are carelessly thrown together film tie-ins that frustrate more than anything else - 'Ultimate Alliance 2' does an excellent job of bringing a diverse range of Marvel characters together in a way that should satisfy both gamers and comic fans young and old.

The object of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 is rather simple, destroy the baddies. You control your chosen Marvel character in a team of four where the other characters are controlled by other human players of the computer AI.There are loads of Marvel characters to choose from, all with their own style and special moves. You have the ability to change the team line-up during the gameplay if certain characters skills aren't working for you in various scenarios. The controls are well laid out. You'll have no problem at all working out what to do with your hands, and the game guides you through the learning process during the early levels. You can get by with button-bashing,but if you take the time to learn the controls in-depth you'll be able to pull off tricks/combos and other powers which makes the game much more satisfying.A new feature has been added to MUA2 - `Fusion' moves' The more enemies you kill the faster your fusion meter builds up, once full you can use a tag-team move with any of the other heroes in your team. There are a whole range of double-team manouvres available, and they vary depending on which pairing of superheroes you use. There are also additional missions, collectables and even a quiz to be discovered, these bonus bits help soften the blow of having to shell out the money on this title.Overall I was rather encouraged with MUA2. It's a worthy sequal, enjoyable to play online with friends and of course it has superheroes!!

The games graphics from 2009 are not it's strengths but rather its addictiveness & creative vision, it's also a (hard gem to find) no longer available to buy on PSN only on disc format for the PS3. But having said that the huge roster of characters & the story are more than enough to keep you glued to the screen for hours. The sound effects are rich & authentic coupled with fantastic visual effect's, most impressively when (Storm from the Xmen series) combines her powers with other mighty heroes. One big bonus of this game is the ability to unlock (free in disc alternative costumes for all your characters) without having to splash money on extra DLC costumes!.Please note that the previously available downloadable DLC for the U.K included extra characters such as Psylocke,Magneto,Cable,Carnage & extra characters sadly no longer available for download from PSN (damn shame!). To conclude, if your a fan of co-op action RPG then get this game for it's originality & funny voice acting (ICE MAN) & yes there are newer/better super hero game's out there mostly available online & for PC owners but not that many like this for PS3 system so I would definitely recommend buying this game for under (£25.00 in mint condition) if your nut's about Super heroes & special FX like me!. overall score (7.5/10)

The gameplay in this game is quite good, the graphics are great and there are plenty of characters. Certain characters are really fun to play (for example, Venon, Nanite Nick Fury, Luke Cage, Blade, Deadpool). You can complete the storyline in a day if you work hard or are a good gamer. I enjoyed playing this game but after I tried the first Marvel Ultimate Alliance, I realized that it had better characters and a better storyline than the second game.In this game I wanted to have characters that weren't included (for example, Juggernaut, Magneto, Black Panther, Nightcrawler). Not having access to alternate costumes is a limitation in this game; alternative costumes are available in the PS3 and XBox version of the game but not for Wii version.Doing multiplayer is difficult unless you and your partner are good at working together because it is easy to get in each other's way.Overall, this game is fun to play.

If you're a fan of Marvel comics then I'm sure this game is all ready in your collection, if you're not then the odds are the you won't be buying this game until it's significantly reduced. It's a fun game that at times, disguises itself rather well as a out and out button basher, but it deserves more respect than that. The most notable improvement over the original is the physics, it feels so much better to play and I found myself more inclined to make an effort in applying anything resembling tactics due to this more solid feel. The graphics are an improvement and this time the storyline is lifted straight from one of Marvel's recent events (Civil War to be specific). Simply put,it's a fun fighting game with an interesting enough story and an obvious improvement over its predecessor. It's not pushing boundaries, but then nobody expected that, did they?

I've just finished playing the game for a second time and I could even play it for a third if not more. What can I say - great gameplay, graphics, menu setup, story - I really can't think of something I found disappointing. It's got great addictive value, which is helped by the fact that there are loads of items you can collect and loads of trophies to be earned (my favourite was unlocking all the second hero costumes, which implies you have to play for a while with each character).Of course I'm biased because I'm a great Marvel buff - for fans like me it's a dream come true, but I think that even people who aren't into Marvel comics could have fun with this. Can't wait for a third instalment!

Best games of all famous Marvel Comic characters. I admit that I select the medium difficulty game to play and find the game very receptive, conquering all way against baddies bosses to defeat the boss e.g. Nick Fury at final level. Likewise I enjoy this Marvel Alliance 2 game better than MA1. Recommended buy!

My son is an only child, he had a friend over for the day, they got started on MUA2 and were instantly playing as a team and rather than competing with one another (which always ends in tears) they were supporting one another and sharing tips. They both had fun for hours on end.

the game is really fun, and the co-op with another playerand up to 4, makes it even more. the only thing it missesis a mode or challenges to make the game last longer.but recommended

9.10.2013

Great. Great. Great. It is unfortunate that they won't be making any more of these games but the first 2 were the perfect blend of super hero, RPG, and action game.

28.9.2013

It lacks the character depth that the first one had but it is (sometimes) graphically impressive and fun to play. Not quite worth the hefty price.
