I've had these for over 12 months and I agree with most of the comments re: black tabs, I've not lost any yet and I find spraying them with a little silicon makes them smoother to lock and unlock (Swish curtain rail spray). I have 9 Makita and 4 Festool cases all of various sizes (they all lock together). Price difference is high and I do like the Makita type. I own mainly Dewalt 18V portable tools and I use only one of the inserts (only Makita available) as I can get more into each case. I did buy the proper inserts for the one that holds all my screws as mine holds a double layer. Stuck pictures of the tools on the outside so I can easily identify what's in each case. They do get abused. The acid test is would I buy them again - without any doubt. So no matter where I go I just pack the units I need, knowing everything I need should be in each box - don't spend ages looking for things. I have to pack everything into the back of a VW Golf.

These cases are great as they fit various tools, especially when used with the tool specific plastic inlay.I bought the Makpac Type 3 case together with the plastic inlay to fit my Makita DTM51ZJX7 cordless multitool. The downside is that there is excess space above the tool allowing it to move around, especially if the case it tipped over. But this could be overcome by stuffing some foam over the tool to keep it in place. Makita do sell foam, presumably for this reason?Instead, I decided to store my Makita DGA456 angle grinder in the case on top of the multitool, this stops any movement inside, and I get storage for two tools with just one case.Without the inlays the storage cases are still fine, and can be used simply as a series of stacking boxes for any tool that happens to fit inside.A handy Makpac inlay & case look-up tool can be found online, helping you choose the correct inlay for your power tool.

Quality- they are brand new, individually boxed and pristine. They have stickers on for drill sets which are easily removed.Extras- they have the inserts for twin drill (x2) and drill /hammer combo which can be taken out.Size - frankly are massive and can easily swallow the double 18v charger and 4 batteries or a jigsaw, batteries and all the accessories.... and a packed lunch.Durability- as long as you don't throw them on the floor or into the back of your van from 6 feet away they are strong and should last yearsValue - great value cheaper than high street shopsRecommended for others - absolutely, but then while they are in stock

A handy size and 'footprint' that fits away nicely.Additional boxes (which come in varing height sizes) can be cliped together and kept neatly in a 'corner'.Larger, or less used items, can be kept in larger boxes at the botton and everyday tools in a shallower box that can be conveniently and firmly clipped on at the top.The way additional boxes can form a rigid column is a very useful way of keeping things in one place. For plastic boxes they seem expensive but their design can save time and money and with the clever way they fit together cost effective.

The insert system is a clever approach to tote boxes and of course these are stacking modular units - neat.I have other Makita MakPacs and find the catches are a bit of an issue, some being excessively tight and difficult to unlatch - so you made need a small adjustment with a file. Better than a foam filled Dewalt Tstak: no, because of the latches but then there's no hacking of the foam to suit your too if there's an insert available. This supplier does have a great guide to the inserts - not that easy to find though on the site

Ok, it's cheaper here than it is in most places... ...and it is nice... but... It's still >£20 for a plastic box because it says Makita on it.It's tough (I regularly use my type 4 Makpak as a step stool, although I wouldn't necessarily recommend this!), it's practical (I know, most boxes are practical, but these clip together and are all regular sizes and clip together), and it looks nice.I do recommend it - my only reluctance is that for the price of 3 of them you can probably get a fab Makita LXT sander or drill/driver.

Bought this for my Makita drill and driver set, and a second box for my SDS drill. Love the way they clamp together. Hard to carry them both, but fit on a trolley to wheel onto site. Like that this makes you keep your most valuable tools safe with an insert in their own case. Cases are robust and when visiting a new customer this gives a professional and organised impression. Makita kit is robust and you could carry it around in an old sack if you needed to, but the MakPac keeps your most important tools safe...

Birthday present for my son, he knows what he needs so I let him choose which tool box he wanted. He has other Makita tool boxes & sticks to what he thinks is best. He tried a different make of tool box awhile ago & the thing fell to pieces within a month. so on behalf of my son he gives a big ? up to this tool box. Plus it was a little cheaper on Amazon than where he usually gets his tools/& tool boxes. It came before given date, & well packed.

Great product and an improvement over the previous bespoke cases of various different sizes. For those that complain about lack of inserts - these are available separately which makes sence if there are 4 case sizes and 50+ different inserts. See [...] for which inlay is required, these typically cost around £15. Please also note that compartment inserts and foam inserts are also available.

Great box. Strong with lots of room. I use this to carry my Makita planner ( cordless) bag and Makita multi-tool (cordless) both with batteries.Could probably hold the same tools corded.Slight issue with the front plastic fastening clips. These can be a bit fiddly to secure the lid, sometimes they come off. (Might just be mine?)Overall a good solid build. Might get another soon.

I used this product to put some of my new makita power tools in. The catches can be a bit hit or miss, some are good, some are very stiff. Overall, it's a good idea from Makita, but it is a real minefield identifying the correct inlay for the correct power tool. But the boxes can be stacked, and clipped together and with a separate trolley, are easy to move around.

A good sturdy carry case, not too heavy and a decent size. It came with the plastic insert for its original contents which was not much use to me but this lifts out easily.Good value at the price. The sticky labels came off quite easily but the Makita emblem is molded into the plastic. Not that much of an issue, I can always cover it up if I wish.

Excellent for stacking in the van and easy to transport to and from jobs. Lightweight but sturdy enough to be dropped and knocked about. Nice size for a variety of tools and accessories. 4 boxes enough for virtually all equipment. Adds the quality look to the already popular makita brand. I would definitely recommend these if you like makita

Good product but not particularly cheap when you've already paid hundreds of pounds for the tools inside. You don't get the option to choose the insert either, so a free foam internal base would be better than an inappropriate inlay.Fine tough boxes though, but could do with a way of labelling the outside when you've got 6 identical ones.

For the money i payed the box is great value for the money. I have brought the Makita boxes before for more money and i found there is no difference between the boxes i have. they stack together easy and i am looking to get one more so all my tools are together in one stack and not allover the work shop
