I like it, I bought a second one.. it's small enough to be handed easily but not too small in terms of what you can carry inside, it's just a good size. It's sturdy enough and easy to carry around.. not sure about the tray, depends on what you wanna store in it. I have my 'electrician tools' box with screwdrivers, pliers, etc.. I keep different colors insulating tape on the tray + tape measure, mains tester, scissors, voltage detector, a mini level, a stubby hammer (lightweight) and a couple of screwdrivers I use the most. At the bottom I keep multimeter, bigger pliers, crimpers and an empty tool belt etc. Then for the second toolbox I removed the tray, and in there I keep a few chisels,3 hammers, a hacksaw, pipe cutter and some long SDS bits.. it would all have fitted in with the tray also, but it was a bit of a squeeze and I had no use for it (mainly because the SDS bits are a tad long, so I need to keep them in diagonally.. and keeping the tray became like playing tetris, so I just took it out). The compartments at the top are quite handy, I keep rawl plugs there, cable clips, electrical screws etc.. Overall I like it, if you need a toolbox that is manageable, sturdy and you can carry around with ease. The box with the hammers is quite heavy too, it's been around for a couple of years now and it hasn't broken yet (or changed shape). If it will ever break one day, I'd buy it exactly the same again.. 15 pound is a very good price.

I ordered this Stanley Toolbox as my old one broke and it is a worthy replacement. I'd describe the box as mid-sized and it features a large main compartment with a drop in tray that's handy for keeping smaller tools to hand like measuring tapes and screwdrivers etc. so you don't have to scramble about in the main compartment. There are two external lidded compartments (sub-divided into two) set into the lid which are handy for nut and bolts etc. but be careful not to overload them as otherwise when the main lid is lifted the compartments can open accidentally. In terms of construction the box is plastic with metal locking catches and whilst there's a padlock eye the hinge pins are formed by acouple thin metal rods so this isn't a high security product and you wouldn't expect that at the price. Overall, this is a basic, low cost tool box ideal for a novice DIY person like me, if you are trade you might want to look for something more robust for everyday use. In my opinion a good value solution for the home user.

I have 50 of them. If you lift from the handle when the closer is towards you, it will hold 70 kilos at least. If the other way than the handle will pop out. Do not sit on it, it will crack and than the handle comes off ... again. The best toolbox I ever head. Easily can be stored on the top of each other. Very strong and reliable, long life. Worth every penny. I use a light trolley to carry it around and than I can lift it up to carry on stairs ... full with tools. If you fill up the top little gray section with heavy accessories (drill bits, tubular, screws etc..), make sure the lid is smoothly closed and than when you open the big lead, do not swing it violently, otherwise the small lids will pop open.Usually I open the big section and it rests on bars of the trolley or a wall. This way, I can use it happily, never have a problem with it. Drills, flex and other big tools fit in it without problem. Can be carried in a vehicle or stacked in van on top of each other.maximum rating.

A tall and wide toolbox of fully plastic construction. Tote tray is a little flimsy but serviceable. I dislike how the tote tray can be placed in incorrectly, it doesn't have drop-in-place guides like my old box. This means that I have to check the tray is centralised correctly otherwise it moves when the box is closed and can lose contents. I'm unsure whether this box is intended to be used as a step like my old box so haven't tried. I think not as the quick trays on top of the lid would likely break. The clips which hold the lid closed are sturdy enough for the approx 8kg of tools I carry in it. Handle is good n chunky for easy lifting. I'd have liked it to have been metal base, but this would have added to the weight. It has a padlock hole to secure the box shut (padlock not included). If it breaks in a few years I'd likely buy another. If it breaks sooner then I won't.

Perfect size for your hand tools etc; very sturdy and has a padlock locking eye and an internal top shelf. Now the first thing you may want to do to make your box a little more secure is to remove the 2 metal hinge bars from their holders, they just slide out, and cut 10mm off each then reinsert them, using a lighter or a heat source melt the 4 ends of the plastic hinge holders so the bars can no longer be slid out so easily(see pictures) sounds complicated but is very easy to do, otherwise when you lock the lid using a padlock all someone has to do is slide the hinge bars out and then their able to help themselves to the contents! Not sure why this wasn't done in the factory? But apart from the security issue these are great little tool box's and are also stackable, locking into place with small guide lugs.

I mostly like this - it's a reasonably priced toolbox with plenty of room. I'm using it as my mobile toolbox when I get called on to run up to my mums for a job and I know roughly what I'll need but don't want to bring all the tools, so it'll get emptied and filled a lot and carried around. The handle is sturdy and comfortable. I like being able to lock it and the clasps are tight. It has handy storage on the top for things like cable clips which somehow don't take room away from the box itself. It's lost a star because I don't like the way the inner piece fits, in that it doesn't. It's not that easy to line up so it stays in place and seems a bit flimsy.I usually find them handy for a few most used tools but I can see it getting abandoned pretty quickly.

This has been my work toolbox for nearly two years so far, filled full of spanners, sockets, screwdrivers etc. The box has stood up very well especially as it usually weighs nearly 20kg. I particularly like the useful storage in the lid of the box, handy to have a few nuts, bolts, fuses etc with me. Being plastic and having good rounded corners means it doesn’t scratch paint or vehicle interiors. Catches work well, and latch securely, strong hinge and the handle is decent and comfortable to carry round. Just a shame about the gap in the handle of the tray as this lets the small bits you put in the tray so you can find them fall through into the box underneath, otherwise perfect.A good size box for a tool kit, well made and lasting well.

I already had the much larger Stanley box on wheels which I keep my sander and drills in etc but needed a smaller alternative to carry around the new home whilst assembling shelves and hanging pictures etc. This toolbox is lightweight and yet roomy, enabling the DIY enthusiast to accommodate all of the essential screwdrivers, wall plugs, screws et al either in the top tray provided or in the main storage box itself. There are also two handy compartments set in the lid for screws and such, When finished, the sturdy metal clips ensure your tools are tightly secured. I have seen similar items selling at a much higher price in the High Street so I was very pleased with the cost and the delivery was very prompt.Highly recommended.

A necessity for any DIYer.This toolbox is large enough to accommodate all of my tools ( Power drill, drill bit set, hammer, several screwdrivers, a set of spanners, screws, nails, multiple allen wrenches, torque wrench, tape measure as well as other bits & bobs. The only thing that doesn't seem to fit is my rather large Stanley saw.The toolbox itself is constructed from durable plastic, which should be able to stand wear and tear pretty well. The 2 compartments at the top of the toolbox come in handy when storing screws, nails and other bits & bobs. The metal latches keep the contents of the toolbox secure at all times...If this review was in any way helpful, please 'gimme' a vote :)

Excellent for keeping things in. This has numerous compartments. Careful though they are of varying sizes. I suggest keeping things of a similar type in this storage box as there is no way to alphabetise the contents that I can see. Perhaps I'm not understanding. Also two sturdy latches are provided on the front (opening) side of the box. These are very useful when picking up the box to relocate it and it's contents. Warning it's easier to move when closed and latched, especially as a sturdy handle has been placed centrally on the uppermost platform of the Stanley 194. It's also central which helps with balance. Can't wait for the 195.

I am happy with this box. I took 1 star off for build quality. Rather than being a well made box selling cheap, it feels like Stanley have compromised on their standards to manufacture a cheap box. I have a ten year old Stanley box in the shed which is made from thicker plastic same size and very similar design which feels so much sturdier - I weigh 14 stone and can stand on it. I wouldn't want to stand on this one.At the end of the day it cost me £12 delivered. I only intend to keep electrical tools in it - soldering kit, wire cutters, pliers, multimeter etc. I wouldn't want to fill it with heavy tools.

Needed a large box for some bits and pieces for the truck. Fits everything I need with a little room to spare. I got rid of the black tray that come with it but If you use the box for just tools it would be very handy. I managed to fit a large torch and a jack and some other bits and bobs so it is rather large. The top compartments easily house the small stuff, batteries, Swiss army knife, matches ect.. It also has a hole on the outside for a padlock (which I used) It takes a decent size padlock too! Its also waterproof and really strong! What more can you ask for. Fab tool box!

This tool box is robust and solid, though ever so slightly smaller than I'd expected. However, it's still got plenty of space for what I need. However, what makes this box stand apart (and is the reason I chose it) is that the locks at the front of the box are solid and have stood up to some wear and tear. Too many tool boxes have clasps which are secured via a thin plastic bar. Of course, the clasp takes quite a lot of strain when you lift your toolbox, and when the plastic perishes you can throw your tool box away. This Stanely box howevever uses all metal and it is excellent.

When you start looking for a toolbox to store your DIY tools, it soon become apparent there are more than a few to choose from. And being of a certain age, the name STANLEY has long been a brand that people can lean on knowing they make decent stuff. The STANLEY Toolbox with Metal Latch that I plumped for ticks the boxes i needed it to cover and so far, allows me to carry my DIY junk with relative ease. I would be happy to order another one if the situation demanded.

Brilliant, wish I'd bought one years ago! For ages I've had all my tools floating around in a horrible old container. They're now nicely organized in a proper tool box. It's big, lightweight, and feels well made and solid. It has nice compartments for screws etc, a tray for your everyday tools and plenty of space underneath for all your other bits and bobs. Perfect for the home DIY enthusiast.
