I would have given it 5 stars alround apart from few issues. There are not enough pockets on the inner removal insert. Because I also bought the smaller back pack with out wheels that has a double insert. I have just swapped them around and this has solved that problem. The front netted pocket is not tough enough, and has split. This needs to be made of tougher material or just the made the same as the side pockets. Oh yes and the side pockets should be deeper like they are on the smaller back pack. The handles for the zips have pulled off, and I have had to replace them with key rings to be able to open the bag.And now the big complaint. The wheels, they are not made of a tough enough material, and have broken after just 2 months work. Because this bag / back pack is advertised as a bag that can be pulled along, the wheels should be the last thing to break. There are no obvious replacements. The caring handle is okey and is still working after now 6 months of constant use. But I think it should be the same as the one in the smaller back pack which it is much sturdier. The extending handle is good and works fine if it is not abused like I have seen some people doing.I do carry a lot of tools in my bag / back pack. It might sound as if I am slagging this bad off. But quite the opposite, it is a pritty good design over all. I will buy it again when I eventually kill this one. I just think with a few tweaks it could be the best on the market.

As a mobile IT engineer, I was searching for a backpack that would be sufficient enough for carrying a laptop, some additional cables, tools, equipment, and still leave enough room to pack some lunch into and have the protection from everyday bumps, and wear/tear.This backpack lived up to those expectations. It is quite large overall, but not over-sized for the decent storage space it provides. It contains a folding removable tool carrier and there is a padded compartment for a large laptop. (it would easily fit a 17" laptop) there is a small internal pouches at the top of it which can be secured with a small velcro strap through a buckle, along with a small external zip pouch at the top for quick, easy access. Then there are two additional external side pouches and a front net-pouch. So plenty of packing options there. On the base of it is hardened plastic. So it will maintain its shape, stand upright with you set it down somewhere, keep it dry, and stop things from piercing through the bottom of it.The adjustable shoulder straps seem to be sturdy and comfortable even when carrying heavy weight in it. This is backed up by a plastic re-enforced top handle for lifting the full backpack up when you are not using the shoulder straps.Overall, it is just what I wanted from a backpack for my everyday jobs. I would recommend it for people who need a lot of packing options and mobility too.

Had been looking around for a new laptop bag and looked at various different places, luggage shops, stationery stores, but hadn't found anything as durable and hardwearing as my last piece of kit that lasted over 10 years. But this popped up in the search, and after an initial chuckle, I started looking at the features.- It's a solid, heavy canvas fabric, hard-wearing backpack/trolley case, built to be abused on a building site. So it's well constructed and will last.- It's also built to protect a laptop from whatever else you throw either at the bag or into the bag. So there's a neat padded section at the back, locked against the frame, which should keep your laptop or tablet well secured.- The rest of the bag is spacious, especially if you take out the tool tray accessory. Easily enough space to put 2/3 changes of clothes plus other essentials as an overnighter.- Fits precisely within standard RyanAir/other no-frills carry-on limits.- Discreet passport/document pocket at the top of the case, mesh grab-n-go and two huge external pockets with retainers for tools - or washbags, umbrellas, champagne (yes,I've done that) etc.- Looks more discreet than a high-end business bag and therefore less likely to get interfered with.In short, whether you're on a building site or a business class flight, this should be a choice to look at seriously.Read full review...

hi,bought this as im a joiner and had a job coming up on the third floor of some flats and only wanted to be carrying the tools i needed for the job rather than humping my heavy tool box up and down the stairs i found the fatmax to be quite good its well made has pockets and strapps on the outside i straped my two foot leavel to oneside and my silicone gun to the other side plus other bits and bobs in the pockets inside there is a lift out devider with slots for screw drivers and such i took this out to make more room inside i carry a cordless screw driver two batries and charger screw drivers hammer silicone and fixings so did my job spot on its quite heavy when fully loaded but wen you arecarrying with the comfy shoulder straps on your back its ok and also leaves your hands free to open doors or carry somthing else and once you reach the top of the stairs you can put it down and roll on the wheels on good floors dont think the wheels would cope with ruff ground as they are just like suit case wheels,so overall its prety good would of given five stars but it is a little heavy when empty.

I am Stanley fan. I have lots of products from them (at least 100).I had to buy another Fatmax wheeled because on the other one several problems occurred. First the wheels' axles bent, than pealed the tires off from the wheels. I was able to pool it on its plastic bottom. Than the handle came off. Then most of the zip handles broke off. But, the zippers themselves did not brake and holds tools together, The material did not brake either and its very strong. Easy to fold the long pooling handle and now I pool the new one on straight and smooth surfaces only. If that ends, I take it on my shoulder because after all its a rucksack, as well. It works out well for me just need to take better care for it.Its a little expensive. The wheels need improvement: both the axle and the wheels have to be stronger. The latch (blocking mechanism) that holds the pool handle in place will get loose and come out eventually. Now I know its weaknesses and the new one I bought lasts very well. I can use the old one as well as a backpack and I am sure it will not brake.Read full review...

I generally work straight from the back of the van but more recently I have started working in city centre's where parking can be a real pain. A backpack seemed the best option as it leave's your hand's free for carrying steps, more tools, opening doors or using the phone.I went for the Stanley based on the reviews, reasonable price and size. There's plenty of room in the main storage area, made accessible with a heavy duty zip. There are lot's of additional pockets and loops and a removable tool storage board for screwdriver's, chisels etc. It has a hard flat plastic base, which when you take the backpack off and put it down, it sit's upright allowing you easy access to all sections of the bag. When fully loaded it's heavy, plan what you need for the day/job to keep it as light as possible. Personally, this size was ideal, any bigger and you may struggle to lug it about, especially if walking longer distances.Overall it has exceeded my expectations, built to last and an excellent solution for carrying tool's and part's.

Firstly another fast delivery from Amazon and well packaged. This is by far an easy and best way of lugging your tools around if your always on the move. Is great for home to home jobs too as is very organised and can fit all my hand tools in one convenient, easy to transport bag. I am a plumber so I need a vast array of tools to Carry out a number of complex jobs and this bag has made my life so much easier. I work and travel alot in London on the tube, buses and trains and was always a pain to carry boxes and tote bags around. It's very heavy when full and has no signs of giving way at any time. I love the removable tool pouch for easy access to everything I need and besides all my wrenches, pump pliers and everything else I need i can also fit in my gas and burner too allowing me to be extra mobile for may job. Definitely recommend if traveling by foot is part of your job but also if local work is for you but need a decent, robust tool station!

I was about to buy a conventional tool case and changed to this at the last minute.Great decision , it's easily the best i've ever had. It's comfortable to walk with , slung over my shoulder when i can't park close to site and my keys and PDA are easily accessible from the large side pockets. Drop it on the floor , zip open the chunky zip tag and i'm good to go.Inside there are numerous tool slots of myriad size and shape and every strange device i have has found a secure home.Plenty separate pockets for documents and even padded space for my iPad. The large handle on top is ideal for grabbing quickly when lifting out the car or moving around on the job.The hard shell base is marvelous and keeps the whole unit secure and standing upright as well as providing protection against wet floors. This was obviously designed by a worker for workers. I just wish the people who made the kit i work on took a leaf out their book. An essential purchase.

As an archaeologist, I've used a few bags while working on site, they either got too small for all of my tools, couldn't keep my kit dry or broke under the strain of constantly being wet/muddy/too much equipment in too small a space. I decided to spend some cash on this little beauty and so far I can honestly say its been worth the price. The bag has kept the contents pretty dry under some of the most atrocious weather I've ever worked in, my wet weather gear giving up the ghost first ! The ease of accessing my tools inside is brilliant, less rummaging around for that elusive line level and nails. So far, after several months of use, I would strongly recommend this piece of kit for any one using tools in the field.Pockets on the outside are useful for the essential flask and the attachment straps are good for any extra long kit (ranging pole !) you may have to carry.

Fantastic bag with fair storage and cushioned straps, making carrying it really easy and comfortable.I have fair few tools and meters in there with no extra space for parts ect but it peavs me with two hands to carry them now so better for the back I guess. The straps inside are beleive are to stop the zips getting ripped appart more than support the front, when this is opened fully the front falls down to the floor. The centre comes out allowing access to bigger tools and the base is thick and solid waterproof.Big pockets on the sides, mesh pocket on the front and key ring bits with extra hooking points down the front.Carry handle on the top is thick rubber rather than horrible plastic so that'sa bonus. This is well padded down the back and other than I can't throw all my rubbish and crap I end up with normally, it's a great bag for most common tools.

Have been using this item everyday for over a year now and its still like brand new. Can't always get parked close to the various premises that I work is so it a major advantage that you have the weight evenly spread on your back and not hanging off of one shoulder.Bag is very well made from thick sturdy material so that there is no chance of blades or any other sharp tools poking through the bag and the thick plastic base is an excellent feature meaning that the bottom of the bag does not wear out when getting set down of rough surfaces like concrete. Zip is also of heavy duty quality meaning that it doesn't split or separate when you overfill your tool bag with items as we all do!Woulddefinitely highly recommend to and tradesmen who have to carry a tool bag over any distances and are looking for some longevity from a tool bag.

Good pack but......The removable tool holder section is great if all you carry is screwdrivers! Lots of long thin pockets. I modified mine to take pliers and crimper etc.. By cutting the stitching between some of the pockets to make wider ones. I can fir a 16inch hacksaw on the outside side pocket and a 20oz hammer and end.cutters on the other side. I found I can hold a clamp meter, volt stick(fluke t110) and a mains socket tester in it, full set of vde screwdrivers, wire strippers, pliers, junior hacksaw(for SWA cable), etc.. Even à compact impact driver(12v) plus loads.of stuff. In all 23kg!!Some slight pulling on the carry handle seams but easily fixed with needle and thread. No nag is perfect no matter how much it costs (veto pac at 200 quid!!) perfect for me as an on site sparks needing to carry it all in one bag.

It's a great rucksack, let down by a couple of simply mistakes. Firstly - the net pouches the back; put stuff in there for more than a few weeks and the netting starts to get holes. Two taller, full fabric pockets there would have been brilliant, or even two full fabric pockets the same size and location as the current net ones, but a full-width pocket of the same height, with some depth at the top would add valuable and usable space. The second problem is the little pouch that hangs inside the top of the rucksack with the zip at the top of the bag. You can't put much in there as the bag then pulls the top of the lid down and makes it a pain to open the rucksack and find what you need, because there's this little colostomy bag thingy hanging in the way.Two significant niggles in an otherwise perfect rucksack.

I've been after a backpack style tool bag for quite some time and this one certainly does the job well. Well though out design, well made, strong, loads of storage ( too much actually ), well balanced whilst on back and in transit although a waist belt would be useful.I like the way it stands level and doesn't topple when unzipped - excellent.A bit of advice is to remove the core partition on arrival at place of work as access without doing this is a bit fiddly to see everything. The main issue I find a pain is the top hoop should stand higher to enable pulling up to and over back - this depends on the method of strapping it on your back but if you are like me,I always pull sack up high to slide in opposite arm and accessing the tiny low hoop is a stretch!! Still - cant have everything!!Nice one Stanley!!

I have been using an open top tool bag with a single shoulder strap for years but having switched jobs, and now having to transport my tools over longer distances I thought I'd look for an alternative solution to make carrying easier. This pack is sturdy and can fit more tools in it than my open top bag. The organiser inside is well made and keeps all hand tools and spanner sets neatly arranged and easily accessible. The bag also has a good couple of storage pouches inside for gaffa tape and drill sets and spare drill batteries. The back can also fit an 18v drill between the tool handles at the top which is handy. The plastic base keeps the bag upright when on location and the bag opens wide enough to access everything inside easily.Highly recommended.
