Thickness? What has this to do with a tool box?Should this be robustness? But is plastic robust? Indestructible yes but robust, probably not.But its a Stanley and for the money not too shabby.I hate over centre closure more so in plastic but some of the metal boxes are criminally sharp and far too thin.So one settles for what manufactures compromised design offers to us, knowing that it might just cope with occaisonal use not the regular day to day pounding that makes Snap-On a better choice. As with all tool boxes manufacturers have no idea what you will put in them so the inner parts may or may not suit your needs. I have a larger version for bigger tools and a small version for computer/electronic servicing tools, just make sure that any soldering iron has been off and fully cooled before putting inside.Plastic means lightness and this can be an issue if you travel any long distance with your tools. There is not much wrong but there are too many compromises but if you can live with your tool box being the least worse you could do worse than buying Stanley in any of the sizes.

We all know that the Stanley brand, once an epitome of quality and one associated with knowledgeable craftsmenis now a good marketing tool for cheap tools and equipment in a World awash with other similar items.Gone are the days when a Stanley measure would last a lifetime and might even be handed down to the next generation. So this toll box should at such a low cost be measured against similar items at this or similar price and in this context it is a bargain. It is simple, one tray + two small sections on the top for screws etc bit it is ideal for a second box that holds the everyday essentials such as screwdrivers, pliers etc when you do not want to rummage through a full size and weighty box when you have a small job to undertake.I would also recommend it as a gift to a young would-be handyman who wants his/her own set of tools and can keep them in an attractive Stanley toolbox.

This review is for the:Stanley STST1-75517 Essential 16" Toolbox with Plastic Latches, Black/Yellow.I purchased these 16inch toolboxs ? to go along with their "big brother " one on wheels (see separate review). They are perfect for the odds and ends that build up and clutter your main toolbox ?. They are perfect for the job, and at a reasonable price. My only point is I would prefer metal clasps, not plastic. These would make this perfect. If you want a small toolbox ? that is easy to carry, these are perfect.I hope you found this review useful ?

Purchased to store my Bosch electric plane as the cardboard box it came in is starting to suffer from wear and tear.Hedged my bets on this toolbox as the dimensions given are external and don't take into account that the box tapers inwards towards the bottom. No surprise to find the plane won't fit.I could return the toolbox and buy a larger version but cannot be bothered with all the trouble it causes.I'll use this to house some of my smaller hand tools that are loose in my garage and see if I can find a bigger (and maybe stronger?) toolbox on line.

I was after a good sized tool box for my son who is 7. The previous one I bought was 12 inch and too small for him. He wanted to carry real tools so needed a proper toolbox. This one is ideal. He loves the fact it has a hole to lock it. He keeps the key in the top flap!Overall it’s built well, it’s solid enough and not weak at all.The inside tray doesn’t fit the whole inside by design. Which is fine.Lots of compartments and a handy size. A really good buy!Pls rate as helpful if this review helped you. Thanks for reading!

I purchased this to keep the bike tools in. Works fine exactly as should, no quibbles regarding quality, layout or function. Only thing is this was a too small for what I needed. Read the dimensions before purchasing and don't forget to measure your tools. I had a hex key set, multi tool, hammer, pliers, screwdrivers, torque wrench and all the bits. Other than the hex keys, everything else would fit but that would probably be the max tools it can hold. You can never have too many tools, always keep space for more.

Standard plastic tool box with 2 compartments on either side of lid, 3/4 length insert with 2 long compartments and 2 short and eye for padlock (padlock not included). Wanted something for basic tools and small replacement parts on a yacht and this box is ideal. I don't think it would suit someone who would be carrying it around and/or tossing it in and out of a van regularly as it is plastic but pleasantly surprised at how robust it is for the price! Happy with this purchase. Quick delivery.

I wanted something to store my ever-growing collection of bike tools and spare bits. This is essentially a large empty box with a removable tool tray that sits on the inside lip of the main store. There are a couple of little storage compartments in the lid.A folding handle is inlaid to the lid.I've got all the bits I want to be stored in the box, with plenty of room for more. It is a good, neat and sturdy box that meets my needs perfectly

Great little tool box for your more frequently used tools. Very rugged box. Wouldn’t hesitate to use this as a stool if needed, compared to other lesser quality boxes that would probably buckle under the weight of a child.Only complaint is the tray is small and doesn't fill the inside of the box. Would prefer the tray matched the size of the box so I could fit more tools in it.

Have ordered and re-ordered this product. Both delivered promptly in good order. I have one for all my bits & pieces for my bass guitar rig (cables, pedals, extensions, etc.) and one for household tools. Handy top sections (for screws, batteries, ear plugs, etc.). Sturdy and surprisingly spacious for a small tool box. Would recommend.

Nice little tool box but it is very small with a small tray and I would never pay the full price which is £14.99 for this I only paid £6.66 and for that price it not to bad it’s ok for a hammer and a few screwdrivers and maybe some small bits but not much else good and solid product though so I’m happy with it I’ve all

I primarily bought this for tools that is use for my mountain bike.Decent amount of space with 2 small compartments on the top for small parts such as dust caps, valve core, any miscellaneous screws and it's Stanley branded. Its not the best quality plastic but for what I'm using it for it'll do the job.

Really great little box. I use it for bicycle tools, you wouldn’t get anything big in it - just hand tools. It has an inner tray for screwdrivers etc. The lid has two hinged storage sections which are split.Sturdy latch and has a hasp for a padlock should you need it.Fantastic value for money.

This tool box was exactly what I was looking for! I've used it consistently for months and have been compelled to write a review. It's so nice and compact, and fits perfectly in my cupboard. It's put up with all the wear and tear too and is definately robust enough for regular use. Very pleased!

If you want something spacious but not huge and taking up lots of space in the home, this will work perfectly. If you're needing something stronger for very heavy items and going from job to job, you may want to invest in a stronger one. For the average home DIY person, this works excellent.
