I have to get something out of the way right now - how do like 90% of so called professional reviewers manage to not see the pure fun and genius of this game? Seriously, take Buffy the vampire slayer, cut out the angst, bung it into a big old grindhouse model blender then chuck in enough psychedelic colour in there to make a unicorn spew a shower of tie-dyed chunder, mix liberally with oodles of equally colourful language and a massive dose of OTT violence and you got yourself a perfect formula for the sweetest lollipop you're ever gonna taste! Read on to see what you'll love about grasshopper's latest bucket of ludicrous and what might tweak your teats about it in this handy, bite-sized,review!THE GENIUS:(+) This game is as inventive as they come - sure at its chewy core it's a beat 'em up as old as Double Dragon but there is so much nuttiness, chainsaw pole-dancing, graphical strangeness and zombie head pummelling that it just feels like one big blast! This is the gaming equivalent of getting drunk dumb with your best buddies and watching the cheesiest b-movie marathon this side of mystery science theatre 3000 and having an absolute riot!(+) The graphical flair is insane, this is not to say the graphics are amazing because they are not, they're also not a complete dog either, but the sheer amount of inventiveness is superb. From the screen being split into two bloody chunk as you chainsaw a boss to pieces to an elevator from heaven coming down replete with 2d-cut out looking cherubs just has to be seen!(+) The combat, contrary to what a lot of reviews say, is massively gratifying. Whether you are chopping a zombie in half from crotch to wig or simply decapitating a whole row of baddies in a plume of gore and rainbows it just feels nice and chunky.(+)There is tons of cool stuff to unlock from costumes, to concept art, to new combos, to different flavours of lollipop. Great stuff.(+) The soundtrack is unbelievably awesome. Eclectic but constantly rocking your ear slices numb it is one of video gaming's soundtrack highlights; some of which was put together by jimmy from MSI no less!(+) The sound effects are great too with chunky splatters to crashes, bangs and chainsaw ripping noises of every kind.(+) With a lot of emphasis being on nods to some of the greatest games of all time its hard for real, long time, gamers to not to get it and get it with a grin!(+) The voice over's are cool, I banged subtitles on simply because I couldn't believe some of the things I was hearing at times. If you thought the graphics where colourful and inventive you haven't been privy to anything yet! The most unique and downright offensive insults I have ever heard in a video game to date.(+) The overall presentation of the game has a grungy, comic book look which just oozes from the games every pore and is used extremely well in conjunction with the overall sound and feel of the game.(+) Some of the mad characters practically make Juliet (our protagonist - a zombie slaying cheerleader with a chainsaw and a decapitated lover) look sane and I loved 'em all. The farer out they where the more they fit with the overall grindhouse brain explosion that is Lollipop Chainsaw. A lot of the characters are based on musical stereotypes or high school stereotypes which makes them that bit tastier to get your teeth into.THE NOT SO CLEVER BITS:(-) It is offensive, especially to women with misogyny flying left right and centre and I'm just not sure if Juliet is a strong enough lead to take all the flak and emerge unsullied in the mind of the player. It's a judgment call - I just took it all in the name of exploitation and had a ball - others may be a bit more sensitive.(-) This is a brawler, a scrolling beat 'em up, if you never liked streets of rage or Splatterhouse and such like then don't expect this, as inventive and mad as it is, to skew your view.(-) The rating system at the end of each level can be a little bit of a mystery to work out - I did the first level without so much as a scratch and combos where flying out of me like I was divine but I still only got a C+. Maybe it's just me being rubbish, i dunno.CONCLUSION:When was the last time you just had a rip-snorting giggle and a blast with a game? When did you last see foul-mouthed zombies getting taken to bloody, rainbow-sodden, chunklets by a hot cheerleader spinning round a stripper pole with a chainsaw? If you can't answer `very recently' to either of these questions then you ain't played Lollipop Chainsaw and if you're a fan of madness, grindhouse or beat 'em ups then you are doing yourself a disservice my friend - now be a good chap and pop out and get it!

Every generation sees the release of an epic game that revolutionises gaming in ways we could never imagine. There are games that push consoles to their very limits. Games that change the way you feel about gaming. This is not one of those games. This is a game about a scantily clad cheerleader that kills zombies with a chainsaw whilst munching on lollipops. If that doesn't sound appealing then this is not the game for you. This game doesn't reinvent the wheel but it sure is fun to play. The Good:* You get to kill zombies! If you enjoy slaughtering the hordes of the walking dead then this is a game you should dig. This isn't Resident Evil. Survival Horror is not what you're in for here. It's hack and slash and it's not ashamed of the fact. The controls may like depth but you get to kill zombies with a chainsaw that's something we should be glad of. We're living in the Twilight age I'm just relieved it's not some creepy necrophiliac romance simulator.* The story! Okay it's not exactly Shakespeare but it's fun. With input from Hollywood screenwriter James Gunn (Super, Slither, Tromeo & Juliet) the story is crude and very funny with daft characters and offensive humour by the bucket load.*The Voice Acting! The legend that is Tara Strong (Timmy Turner, Bubbles, Batgirl)voices our heroine Juliet Starling and she is as awesome as she always is. She's brilliantly supported by Michael Rosenbaum (Smallville's Lex Luthor) as the head of Juliet's boyfriend Nick.* It's fun! Remember fun? It's something that's often lost in the world of constant updates and downloadable content but Lollipop Chainsaw is good old fashioned offensive fun.* There's a fair bit to do. There's plenty of collectibles, high scores to beat, online leader boards and a full compliment of trophies (only one of which is an online one which is a treat for those of us with little patience for online play or an abysmal internet connection).* There's a rocking soundtrack. Little Jimmy Urine of Mindless Self Indulgence contributes a plethora of banging tunes for boss battles, cheerleading classic "Mickey" is there for your super powered moments and who can't enjoy Dead or Alive's "You Spin Me Around (Like a record)" whilst mowing down zombies in a combine harvester? The Bad:* It's too short! Even with all the collectibles and trophies the game is just too short. It's a real shame and knocks off at least one star from the score. You can probably finish everything in 2 play throughs if you're a better gamer than me anyway.* It can get a bit repetitive! There are combos and special attacks and what not but overall it can get dull after a few hours. The bulk of the fun comes from taking those undead suckers down but it would be a lot more fun if there was more variety. In summation if you're unsure about this game wait for a price drop. The less you pay the less likely you are to be disappointed. I bought this game mainly because of it's links with James Gunn and I wasn't disappointed at all. If Amazon allowed half stars this would probably be closer to three and a half stars than four but if you want a fun way to kill a few hours and a few thousand zombies you can't go far wrong with this game.

I bought this game thinking it was a Bayonetta spinoff, but the minute I turned on the game my mind was literally blown. seriously the trophies are the most random and fun to unlock (one including a certain voyeuristic approach), the way you kill zombie opened up a new path and the upgradeables are even stranger. Juliet Starling is an 18 year old Zombie hunter who has to plow through zombie hordes on her birthday carrying her boyfriend on her belt, not to mention the unlockable clothing is quite a treat to behold, by beating high scores or buying them in the store will provide a wide range of costumes (some even include High School of the Dead costumes)which made me even more surprised.Pros:This game is literally over the top from start to finish; from the minigames to the boss battles, it is a roller coaster of rainbow colours and zombie gutsThe Bosses; now this was what really got me to play the game; everyone who loves a good boss battle will not be disappointed with the battles and who your facing: each boss is literally an incarnation of a rock and roll genre being based on real life music iconsCons:Length: y'know this game is something of a pace into new ground so I can understand if it is short but as a gamer I would have expected it to be longer but the fun it produces can keep people hooked for a while

I know that a lot of people had their doubts about Lollipop Chainsaw - after I saw the review on IGN.com, I was shocked at the poor words that its gameplay was given. Sure, depending on how you play, Lollipop Chainsaw is short, but overall enjoyable! Never before has a game had a zombie/cheerleader cross over, and I was kind of wary about it too. But the head-banging rock 'n' roll music, Nick's witty banter and the super-awesome chainsaw moves that Juliet proudly displays makes this game one of my favorites! If you are a zombie-gamer and are wary about buying this game because of reviews, be brave and get it! Zombie/horror is my favorite gaming genre ever, and I was NOT disappointed in this game one bit!The price is good for a new game, and I hope that perhaps there will be a possibility of Lollipop Chainsaw 2!!!

I'M addicted to this can't stop playing it, it's good fun better than expected. If you have no sense of humor don't play it, it won't suit you at all. If you can't handle swearing or some smut and quips don't bother as it will offend you.I can handle it all so I don't care. It's a combination of many old games in one bayonetta/ DmC/ jokes based on films like pirates of the Caribbean and more.. added bonus it plays runaways cherry bomb too! THis game is great, she looks like vanille form final fantasy and when you kill zombies rainbows stars and hearts pop up it's a but animie/managa based too. But hey I like it makes me laugh.I'd like to play more games like this LOve it

Lollipop Chainsaw is another delusional trip from Suda51, famous for his insane storytelling and crazy games, that pits Juliet Starling and her family against hordes of the undead and other craziness alike. Armed with her chainsaw and that head of a boyfriend, this hack 'n slash is perfect for releasing stress while enjoying some nonsense story. Visuals and sound are both great but the gameplay might seem a little repetitive at times for people that don't truly appreciate the genre. It has that special Suda51 touch in every corner and it is filled with tiny bits that make it a blast.

hey mickey your so fineyour so fine you blow my mindhey mickeyetc. This is all the cheerleader chainsaw fun you can handle, and then some.Technically there is not too much new here, all the novelty is in the execution and the subject matter.you play a nubile cheerleader who is also a zombie executioner. This is classic arcade style fun with certificate 18 visuals, with the gameplay on very tight rails. Each section features a boss. There is a lot of US high school girly stuff going on as well.

24.12.2012

Therapeutic, basic hack-and-slash, RPG-ish, mob-fighting with a silly, hilarious, fetishistic slant.Jimmy Urine from Mindless Self Indulgence composed music for the game and voiced a character, so if you're a fan of theirs this is well worth checking out based on that alone. Tara Strong is fantastic (as always) voicing the lead character who's certain to be a cosplay standard for a long time to come...Turn your brain off and enjoy the awesome :)

Think this game kind of went 'under the radar' as it were, but i believe its a bit of a cult hit now.... although a bit 'pervy' in places it has good American Shclock horror comedy in it, nothing like brightening up your day by beheading Zombie 'Jock's in school lolGreat gameplay, if a little simplistic (for saying it's rated 18!) and over much much too soon.

8.9.2012

funny, witty, its a hack n slash game at its best. its abit short. i got it on release day and finished it in 2 days and thats with going to work during the day. but i love tooo much to trade in. my favourite boss is Zed, due to his big letters that kick your butt! and shawnie smith is amazing (just saying)

1.4.2013

17.6.2012

Lollipop Chainsaw is a very good and different game with good solid gameplay. The only downside to this is that its 6 hours long so I would not recommend buying this at the £30 price tag, £20 seems like a better deal for this short and fun game.

26.3.2015

Loved this. I managed to play through it all in a few days. If you love killing zombies then you'll love this. Its one of those games you could play for an hour a day and still manage to complete it in just a few days, which is what I did.

2.9.2013

Very quirky, fun and addictive game.It has a steep learning curve to begin with but after the first two levels it's simply fun and simple enough to play. A lot of fun to play, pretty insane and should keep you entertained for days.

31.5.2016

This game is so comically ridiculous It is hard not to find it fun and entertaining. The entire concept remind's me of Buffy the Vampire Slayer(more so the '92 movie) in many way's. The soundtrack is fun aswell adding to the comedy.
