Firstly let get the obvious out the way Haze is a bit of a disappointment one again we have spent months (many of them thanx to delays) listening to how great Free - Goldeneye,Timesplitters- Radical next gen game is going to be from mags and websites, and we are where expecting something truely amazing! What we have recieved is a solid shooter with a great multiplayer and simple but effective story line. But sadly the disppointment has been too much for many to bear and have critisied it beyond all reconigition! IGN's review of 4.5 and Gamecentrals review of 3 out of 10 is just ridiculous! I mean just look at other games they have given the same score then play Haze and you can not honestly agree.I am roughly half way through Haze and I admit I almost cancelled my pre order for this game, but as I have a XBOX 360 which takes up most my time my PS3 has become increasing un-used. So I thought I would get the first PS3 exclusive in ages and judge it for myself.Haze plays very well the presentation of the game is very good the mantra blacks and yellows are throughout the menu system and looks smart. The game opens in a frantic fire fight where you taught the basics of Nectar pretty quick. Your fellow Mantra Soldiers are very funny really gun ho american (who sound like most Xbox Livers) have been completely blinded by the Nectar drug into ignoring the horrors of war. There banta is very amusing as the cheer and shout at enemys deaths. But before too long the lead character realises that there Nectar is just a way of mind control and soon realises he is fighting for wrong side. No granted the story will not win any oscars neither will the voice acting but it keeps you interested enough to keep playing. The graphics that have seemed to upset so many people are not that bad I have seen worse. They seem to range from very good for example the Mantra Soldiers look great equally as detailed as the Master Chief in Halo. From the quite bland and bad for example the swap level the graphics look almost unfinished. I am not graphics whore and can live with this.Haze keeps getting comared to Halo and for good reason they are very similar even the name Haze/Halo suggests this is not by accident. The vehicles for example are virtually the same as Holo (but not as many) there are is a humvy type jeeps with mounted Machine guns that up to 4 mantra soldiers can jump on. There also quad bikes which are the same as Halo's mules, they all handle very well and break up the FPS action. The whole Nectar gimic is pretty much unders used as you are only a Mantra soldier for the first 2 levels then you become a rebel. Now this is where the fun begins, using the nectar against the moronic mantra Soldiers is great fun.The multiplayer is also really good fun, it is very eash to work as a team and you can get involved in some great shoots out and is a lot easier to play and get into than say Warhawk! Its true there are not many modes but Team Deathmatch is always my favourite anyway. as I am sure your are also aware the there is a 4 player co-op mode for the whole campaign which is great. This can be jumped in and out of like Gears of War so if enjoying single player but are are struggling just switch to co-op and bring some mates on. The online side of Haze is very good and is really limited by the somewhat naff PS Network. So in short Haze is not the "must have title" we all hoped for but is not half as bad as the reviews make out. I have noticed tho that Ubisoft did not release a review code previous to release, this always upsets mags and website hence the bad review bandwagon they all seem to jump on. Haze is not really Sonys answer to Gears of War or Halo but there is solid shooter here give it ago!

The problem with Haze is quite simply the hype that preceded it. If you pick it up with no expectations, you get a simple but fun FPS with a nice online component and a reasonable story and graphics. If you expect it to be a "Halo killer" or the best FPS of all time, you'll be disappointed and you will hate it.Haze starts with you as a soldier working for Mantel Corporation, in a not so distant future. Governments don't have armies anymore and Mantel has stepped in, hired to maintain order around the world. The game takes place in a South American country, where ethnic cleansing is going on and where Mantel is trying to save the people from an evil dictator.Mantel soldiers not only have better and more powerful weapons they also have Nectar, a drug that makes them stronger, quicker and fearless. The first third of the game is all about Nectar. When you push L2 you get a shot of the drug which makes enemies shine, gives you more health and gives you an edge in most situations.Soon enough you see that Mantel is not so innocent and you will then turn on your fellow soldiers and join the rebels. You then lose Nectar but gain other abilities like the agility to dodge bullets or playing dead. You can also plant grenades on the floor, as traps or steal a Mantel's soldier's weapon by pressing R2 and then square. These are not bad abilities but the game takes Nectar away too soon and you miss it. Nectar is fun to use and some of the rebels attributes are somewhat useless. For example, you can steal weapons but expect to die most of the times you try it.Another problem with the game are the vehicles which are not very easy to control, sometimes being downright frustrating. The graphics are from average to bad. With Uncharted or CoD4 you really expect more and Haze is not even close to it.The gameplay is where the game shines. The guns are fun to use and the controls are tight. You can also customize all the controls, if you wish. Simply put, the game is fun. You also have online co-op with 3 other players which works flawlessly. Players come in or leave, seamlessly and everything works perfectly. It's really entertaining to play with other people by your side. There's also the usual Team Death Match and there's a mode called Team Assault where you play as the rebels or Mantel soldiers and where you have objectives to achieve such as preventing a Nectar field from being burned or Nectar crates in the caves, from being destroyed among others. The game is easy, even on harder difficulties and at about 7 hours, not very long. The AI also has problems and could have used more work but is not bad enough to break the game. The story is overly simplistic and underdeveloped but if you look closely, there's actually a message to it. The acting goes from acceptable to abysmal. Some fault also goes to some lines which are almost unbelievably bad.Haze is in its essence an average game. Its gameplay shines and nothing about it is really bad. A good online component and a fun and rewarding shooting mechanic make it a good bet for fans of the genre. Take is for what it is. It's an entertaining, flawed but very enjoyable experience. I loved it.

haze is one of those games which has been hyped up so much that its almost impossible to meet the expectations, much like assasins creed and most other games out there right now. however, i have to say that this game is very good IMO and not as bad as others say it is. this is not to say that its doesnt hav its really bad moments:bad things:1) campare this game to COD4 and there are many basic things which haze should have, but didnt include. AN example is the ability to run faster and most importantly the range of weapons. there are only about 3 or 4 types of weapons in all.2)the graphics are really good i think BUT they could be MUCH better and are not in line with other ps3 titles such as uncharted or COD43)bugs - i have so far only encountered 1 which froze my ps3, however nothing was damaged so its wasnt as bad as it could have been.thats all i could think of for the bad points.good points:1) very good storyline - i really enjoyed the story and found it to be very engaging, tho it could have been fleshed out a little bit more and possibly explained a few more things in the beginning. but other than that the story is what will most drag in.2) gameplay is very good IMO, its simple yet hard enough for more experienced players to enjoy. tho the A.I does slack sometimes but this doesnt take away from the fun!3)the level in the game could be seen as dull and umimaginative but look past the basic structure and there are some really interesting levels in this game and some really fun objectives!in all i think this game is unfairly judged based on first impression and even i thought it was bad at first but i stuck with it and now i really like it. so i say if u arent a very picky gamer, like me, then buy it and enjoy but if u are more experienced and a much more hardcore gamer then maybe u should skip this one.

Having read a fair few of the other reviews, there seems to be a theme of people being let down by the missions, which to be fair is a reasonable judgement. The graphics aren't amazing, and the story isn't exactly revolutionary. The only time the missions really provide any proper entertainment is when you crank-up the difficulty, which does improve the AI to the point that it is actually a good challenge, with proper tactical play being fairly important. However, this isn't remotely relevant. The missions are only really there to keep you occupied when you're internet connection is down. This game is designed for multiplayer.Pure and simple.I've personally never seen a game where two completely different types of forces are used - with totally different fighting styles and tactics - and they come out being so remarkably balanced. With the promised hand, it's all about moving quickly, leaving traps, sharp attacks and quick retreats. Total guirilla warfare. Mantel Soldiers are more like the US Marine Corp, fighting with force and speed, they can take more of a beating, but arn't particularly efficient killers. It's a good match up, and something you don't see very often. Take Counter Strike, Quake Wars, Battlefield - both sides are basically the same, just a different uniform. In Haze, there is a real difference in the way each side has to be played, and yet an equal balance is maintained between the two sides. In short, if you want to play a FPS with a deep interesting story line, get another game. If you want to have a standard set of troupers on both side's, get another game. If you want to play something with an entirely different level of gameplay, and have a hell of lot of fun doing so, all you have to do is scroll up and click "Add to Shopping Basket".

With it's constant delays and news that it doesn't run in "True HD", Haze got a lot of very bad press in the weeks leading up to its release. Listen to non of it, i've had a lot of fun with this game and in my opinion it's way up there with the best console shooters. So, it doesn't run in "True HD" resolution, so what? Cod4 or Halo 3 (apparently) only ran in 640p and it didn't hurt them. And it's true Haze isn't the best looking game out there, the details on the character models is good but the environments sometimes look a little worse for ware. The controls are completely customizable to suit your style, but the defaults are quite sensibly layed out.The gameplay itself is nothing other that what you expect from the people who make TimeSplitters. Haze has, in my opinion, by far and away the best engine of all console shooters on PS3, it just plays so easily. There are a few things that let the game down. There's a bit of a lack of weaponry in the game and with no alt-fire for them they start to get a bit bland, but i'm being picky there. Some of the vehicles also take some time to get to grips with. The story for a fisrt person shooter i think is quite a good one, there's enough of an excuse for you to start shooting someone and the game keeps giving you interesting reasons to keep shooting someone and still make you care a little bit about the characters and world around you.Haze has a short of rebellious charm to it, look through all the bad press and hype that came before it and what you have is a very fun game. Which is even more fun in co-op might i add.

I bought this game as I had seen it reviewed on a game show and wanted a FPS for my new PS3. I was quite surprised by the quality of this game, the storyling isnt great to be honest but the gameplay is ejoyable.Half of the game you are fighting with the treasured necter which makes you semi-super-human, you heal faster, run faster, can see enemies, mines etc... and it is good fun getting your "hit" of necter. Then, things take a turn for the worst and you are without necter for the rest of the game (I wont go into details as I dont want to spoil the story for people). One of the down points is that your character can only carry two weapons at once, it is good how you dont need to rely on health packs, you just need to douck out the fighting to let your health stabilize. The vehicles are good fun to drive, and there are a good amount of levels to play. The game is great value for money and worth buying for the solo play and for the online play. The game gains longetivity from this, alas it is the way these days that people say a game will not be popular unless it has online content. I feel this is not true, the game is very playable solo, the online content is a nice little extra, capture and hold levels, deathmatch, etc... There is also free downloadable content from the PS3 store, which is always a good touch. Also, download the Haze theme for your PS3, it is quite nice :)And so, I give this game 4 out of 5 stars, it is good, but not the greatest FPS I have played, but do buy it, it is fun.

I had played all of Free Radicals previous games before, and the Timesplitters series were some of my most played fps games on my xbox.I heard about Haze on release and decided it would be worth buying if I had a PS3, at the time I only had a 360.So after I got a PS3 for Christmas, I decided I should buy Haze and judge it for myself.Graphically the game is mostly excellent, there are some textures that appear low-res, but this is an issue in nearly every game I've played, lots of the textures in Half-Life 2 have exactly the same issues so I don't really see how Critics can blame Haze for this. The Storyline is excellent, there were many sections that actually made me question what NATO and other forces were doing in countries like Iraq and Afghanistan, and how the insurgency encountered is actually an act of defence not aggression. The controls work well and there are a few places in the game where the six-axis controls work well, noticeably when your character is set on fire. The online is fantastic, as well as standard deathmatch gamemodes that Timesplitters did so well it also features more in-depth skirmish modes, which are like mini-missions with 8 players on each side.Overall Haze is an excellent game that unfortunately got shunned by the critics.

Well, according to usually reliable internet site reviews (!) Haze is the 'Lair' of 2008!Seems to me this now infamous review is more 'hyped' than the original media circus surrounding Haze. I just wonder how much Mr Gates paid the reviewer at the aforementioned website!!Admittedly, not the ground-breaking 'Halo' killer it was meant to be - but all in all an extremely solid shooter, which at it's heart has a user-friendly and (dare I say) excellent user interface - very easy to pick up and great 'fun' (something missing from a lot of modern gameplay) to actually play.Interesting storyline, not particularly well realised with OTT and cheesy dialogue, but it draws you in enough to keep playing. Now onto the 'alleged'abomination which are the graphics - a total untruth!!! A little behind the time let's say, but constant framerate, no loading during gameplay, nice smoke effects, reasonable to actually decent character animation - the only downside being some of the rather bland backgrounds - hurried and unfinished.I've played it through to it's single campaign end, thoroughly enjoyed it, and haven't cried once 'cos it's not COD4!! I'm not a 'graphics whore' I just like being entertained - I have been.

I know MOST people hated or will hate on this game but despite ALL of that... this is the BEST FPS shooter out there under COD! Here is why...Pros- Driving in this game is awesome where it helps you get around in HUGE maps in multiplayer. ;D- Playing both side of the campaign is great as well, where you can be a Rebel or Mantel.- Having nectar to use is better then having anything to boost your power to see and shoot your enemies.- Characters dialog in the game are funny as hell especially when they mention to you "Don't forget your promise to Marino!" hahaha you will never forget that!- This game is great for snipers!Cons- Weapons could use some attachments- Proning and sprinting in this gamewould nice especially getting around the HUGE maps they have online.- Game needs trophies to make it even more fun- Graphics aren't ALL that great but gameplay is soo much fun that you don't even realize it.As of now that the developers of this game have went bankrupt and now we miss out on a sequel of what happens next to Mantel and Rebels.. I'm sad to know that people still judge a game by it's cover without even getting the chance to play it to see how it is really like! :(

Haze was announced what seems like a decade ago. It really was a long time, but after delay after delay, it is finally released. The game was really exciting people, until the demo was released. For some reason, that demo made an awful lot of people lose interest completely.Well, if you played the demo, and enjoyed it, you will be pleased to know that the full game is all a lot more fun. That is probably the most boring level in the game, and after it, everything becomes very exciting and interesting. But the real fun comes when you become a rebel. You have so many new abilities, and it is much more fun. This game was originally known as the PS3s answer to Halo, amongst the fanbase. It was supposed to revolutionise FPSs. Everyone was really excited. Then everything was lost, when people realised it wasn't quite as good as the hype. But it's still an above average game, definetly worth a purchase, and dare I say it: The best game I've played on the PS3.

All the negative reviews about this game are laughable-seriously.Im not biased because i play and like my 360 more than the ps3.People raved about resistence fall of man-this game is more fun.IGN moaned about graphical issues-i honestly couldnt spot them. Also stated was that some of the graphics would look average on an early ps2 game-ive seen some lovely looking games on ps2,but graphically its better than resistance-which i thought was ps2 quality.(maybe i just have a great tv but ive seen much worse graphics on 360 and ps3)The gameplay is fun but its just a shame you dont get to be a Mantel soldier in it longer-thats where i had the most fun.People moaned the game is too short-it lasts thesame roughly as Halo 3 on the same difficulties.Havent tried multiplayer yet-so i cant comment-and yes the AI is sometimes foolish, but overall i loved it-i hope it sells and id love to see an expansion pack where you are just a Mantel soldier

What do some people want?! IGN reviewed this as a 4.5. It was an absolutely disgraceful review which put Haze on a par with the much maligned Blacksite. Maybe the reviewer had been taking too much Nectar himsef! OK Haze is not the greatest game you will ever play but it also really great fun and surely that is the point nof any game. Playability is excellent and the graphics whilst not brilliant are not anywhere near as bad as some people have made out. If anyone has plaed Blacksite they will know just what can happen when a game goes wrong but to put Haze in the same category is totally out of order. Nice game, great gameplay. Give it a go.PS..Much has been made of the poor voice acting and dodgy scripting..again I think some people are missing the point...all the characters are meant to be drugged up boneheads not RADA trained thespians. Haze ain't the best but it's a good laugh with great gameplay.

The servers that enable us to play Haze online multiplayer have been discontinued by Ubisoft, the game's owners/distributors. We played Haze online until about mid october of 2012 when suddenly you couldn't get a multiplayer match anymore and your screen would display a message saying 'could not connect to server, please try again later'. Nobody was told that in reality, the servers had simply been pulled by a corporation that doesn't give a damn about it's customers. Haze is a great game, the campaign mode is crap but the multiplayer is the best,so is the Haze community, and they are the reasons we want Haze back online. Ubisoft won't tell us if they'll ever reinstate the servers for the game,it took us a while to find out they had indeed been pulled. Help us get it back and sign the petition we started to do just that, we'd really appreciate your help in this: [...]

Ok this game is not fantastic but its still great in aspects of gameplay. The graphics are below par for sure! and its a very short game! BUT the gameplay in my opinion is what saves this game, sure its no COD4 but its got really great multiplayer fun gameplay, both on storymode and team deathmatch's etc. The storyline is better then what reviews have made it out to be, again sure its no uncharted but its intresting and at least makes you want to continue. What i see is, this game was so amazingly OVERHYPED that it doomed the game with awful reviews when they just got this average FPS. So everyone was so bitterly dissapointed because they didnt get this AAA exclusive that they were so hoping for!Its a shame because this game deserves better then 4.5/10!

Some of these reviewers seem to think they are working for IGN and this is the latest COD or Assassins CreedThis is not the greatest game of all time but for this price if you expect that then your standards are far too highThis is a middle of the range game and they are a dying art, most of the games are either the blockbuster games like COD or the small indy games like Limbo, this was a well made middle level FPS and it should be judge as such. This is a VERY fun game, i enjoyed playing every second of it, the cop op campain was the best I've played on the PS3 and the multiplayer both online and LAN is excellent with some unique momments.Well worth buying!!!!
