I am a fan of the film Conan with ole Arnie as Conan, and I saw this game on the playstation store, I downloaded the demo and was pleasantly surprised by how good the game is. You play as Conan, walking through a stage and come upon encounters, you could be walking down a lane, and come to a village where the inhabitants want to chop you up. This is where things get interesting, with your character you have a few fighting styles to choose from, there is the single sword hack and slash, sword and shield so you can defend yourself somewhat, dual swords, so you can perform lots of little attacks and double handed fighting. Double handed entails finding an oversized weapon i.e.a sword three times normal size and wielding it with both hands, performing slower attacks but dealing more damage when you hit. Coupled with this is the option of performing moves, e.g. circle, circle, circle ends in a three stroke attack performing more damage at the end if all the blows connect.And therein lays the fun of the game, for every enemy you kill you gain experience points and as these mount you can "buy" better attacks for each of the fighting styles I have mentioned. You must then use these attacks to become more proficient in them, so a % meter is listed when you view the attack you want to use from the menu bar. One of my favourite moves in the game was grappling a person and then performed a pile driver, so Conan grabs the baddie, jumps in the air and then turns the person over so their head explodes on the ground. The other favourite was picking someone up and breaking their spine over Conan's knee.What I am trying to get at is that the game is quite gory, which was great! Wielding two swords and then chopping both arms off of a baddie, or decapitating them was great fun.For mindless violence, this game has it all, I have given the game four stars though as I found the storyline very wanting, Conan is just sort of pushed into each stage with there being a Boss at the end coincidentally to help the storyline along.One note of advice I will give - when able in the villages, burn down the huts as there are sometimes goodies inside.Claudia Black and Ron Perlman provide the voices for the main characters which is nice as this game helps celebrate the 75th anniversary of Howard's firstpublished story.For £15, this is a game worth the money or even pre-owned it is £8, it is a fun hack and slash game, and there is replay value as you can buy different abilities the next time round.

Conan was a game i didn't really care much about before release. It didn't look particularly interesting in all of the footage and media shown. The graphics appeared relatively dated and the gameplay made it look like a God-of-war clone which probably wouldn't be as good. After waiting a while and playing the demo from the PSN i was intrigued as the game seemed like it might be quite fun. I finally picked the game up from Amazon at about £8.00 and i was shocked at how awesome this game is!! I mean don't get me wrong, it may not be the next block buster title you were waiting for. But it sure isn't the shovel-ware that many people & review sites have pegged it to be,and for under £10 you really can't go wrong with this one. The visials are actually quite nice, def not Uncharted or Heavenly Sword standard but nice enough that they don't detract from the gameplay at all. There are some low-res textures here and there but the overall level & character designs are very nice, so along with the camera perspective, you kinda don't notice unless you're really looking out for it. I'd say graphically it's on par with GTAIV. The story is the high point as it's told very well and is quite interesting (so far, as i haven't completed it yet). The characters are very likeable and the voice acting is solid. Overall, not comparing this game to any other game in it's genre (as i believe that's how reviews should be done) this is a fun and enjoyable game. As i mentioned before, for the price it's a damn steal (maybe all the low reviews were a good thing in this regard). I'd give it a 7.5-8.0 out of ten as it's not perfect, but it's a solid and enjoyable game. A must for any PS3 owner who's waiting for the next blockbuster.

Bought the game yesterday - and it is absolutely fantastic. I am really enjoying the game. It is very difficult to prise yourself away from the console to do anything else!It reminds me of a favorite game on the PC called 'Blade of Severance' The graphics are not in the same league as 'Gears of War' or a 'Killzone' but they are still beautiful. As an owner (and fan of) God of war 1 & 2, in my opinion they are better. The higher resolution makes the difference, and the makers have captured the ambience and atmosphere of the Conan world perfectly. The audio is very good too.I don't think the Videos online do this game justice at all. I've played it a Samsung 226CW PC LCD screen and on an Epson Projector and the game looks stunning on both.Admittedly,the cut scenes are it's weakest part especially if you were to compare them to Heavenly sword but they do the job of progressing the story. The game-play itself is superb. Arms, legs, and yes Heads too all come flying off sometimes in slowmo when you perfect a particular attack. There are loads of cool moves to learn as well.The other thing I really like about the game compared to God of war, is that I prefer the weapons used. You can use Two-handed swords and pole-blades, single swords or axes with a shield or two swords. The bloody combat seems more realistic than when you are swinging two blades around on the end of chains. You can see more of the action during close combat. Plus they have modelled the Conan character brilliantly.This is one of my favourite games at the moment..

Basically, PS3 isn't the word for this Conan title, it's definetly more of a PS2 job.The graphics are nothing to get too excited over, the movie interludes are also nothing that will blow you away. It's definetly late PS2.Now to the gameplay, what we're interested in! - This is actually a really good game for gameplay.. It's something you can carry on playing over and over, because it isn't really all that hard and some of the kills are pretty gruesome, like actually chopping people in half!If you want to buy this game, wait for after christmas.. I have a friend who deals with selling computer games online and he told me that this game is currently not much of a seller with him,and that the RRP of this game is getting dropped after christmas.So hold your horses! Please!!Hope this helped you choose your game!

OK, I think that every reveiwer for this game has pointed out that this game has better and more boobs than God of War, I agree with these people. So for the rest of this review I'm going to do comparisons to God of War, so here goes.1st of all the bits better than God of War:NudityBloodFightingCombosSlo-mo enemy deathsNow, all of bits worse than God of War:GraphicsLack of puzzlesYou get into your head that Conan isn't an antiheroConan isn't as cool as KratosNo minigame when you encouter topless babesI still prefer God of War actually.

Enjoyable gameplay. I played the game on Hard, and found the challenge just right.End of level bosses are excellent. Sometimes split into multiple stage fights. Each boss requires some thought on how to beat it.I was expecting nothing from this game when I bought it (on the cheap), but was pleasantly surprised. I played the demo on the PS3 and thought the game would be really average, but the demo doesn't do the overall game justice.

Very much like Heavenly Sword in places, such as the first 'boss' battle in an arena with the big man facing waves of enemies cast down by the bad man. The voice acting and dialogue are cheesy enough to have come straight from a Conan movie and match the game perfectly. Weapons are well balanced and overall the gameplay is pretty smooth.A definite purchase if you like hack and slash!!!

This game is so much fun! Slice the hell out of your enemies, loads of moves to learn and lots of different upgrades. Fight your way through pirates, lions huge gorillas, flying lizard things and more. One of the best things i thought, was the topless women you get to save through out the game with their classic catchphrases when you rescue them. It's Great, trust.

I wasn't really interested when it was released, but i always liked the Universe of Howards Conan, so i finally bought it.Nice and gory hack and slash, good atmosphere, well done combat system, nice and huge Bosses, graphics nothing outstanding but for Action fans and Conan-Fans worth a look. Especially for a low Price.

Great and really fun game. Plenty of blood, guts, and slow-mo death sequence. Loads of moves to learn, with one or two weapons. Nice graphics. You will enjoy learning to dis-member you foes in various ways, and its hard not smile as you do it.

This is an excellent game fun to play, the boss fights are challenging (I played it on Hard mode) however its a shame about the nudity

Awsome game! Too bad Conan wasn't modeled after Arnold Schwarzenegger, though. =(
