I have been dutifully buying LMA and the old January Transfers LMAs for years now and it's one of the few games I buy on the day it is released. After playing the new 2007 version, I can say that it does take some steps forward from LMA 2006. There isn't a great deal of change from 2006, just minor alterations here and there. For example, goalkeepers have seemed to stop catching high balls and falling backwards over the goal line. Also, you can now buy and sell players in their first season at a new club and if you put your players on the transfer list, foreign clubs take an interest whereas in 2006 only English clubs seemed to make offers for your players.Indeed, the game has been polished and improved, but there is no radical departure from the previous instalments. It's basically the same game as 2006, but with several small problems ironed out. Speaking as a guy who's been buying the same £30 game for years, I couldn't care less that nothing has really changed. I just wanted to play around with the brand new, updated squad of the premiership side I love. I wanted to play God to the new players that my team bought in the summer. To be honest, that's why I keep buying this game ... the updated databases (with the proper, official player names, of course). However, you should be warned that you need to download off the internet the more recent transfers that went through towards the end of the transfer window. Without the download, William Gallas is still a Chelsea player and Ashley Cole is still an Arsenal player in the game, for example. You could buy LMA 2006 on the cheap and update your team yourself in the transfer market so it looks like your teams current squad, but often the players don't have the rating/value that they have in real life. I'm not a Man United fan, but as an example, there's no way you could get Michael Carrick 9 out of 10 overall rating and an £18.6m value unless you buy the 2007 game. There are some small gripes with the game. For example, 4-5-1 formations are used all the time in football today, but it is still absent from this game. Also, why don't free kicks ever hit the wall like in real football? Moreover, there are some very unrealistic transfer moves during the first season like John Terry going to Newcastle and Gary Neville going to Chelsea. This said, if you are looking for a football management game on the PS2, there is nothing that touches this. Recommended to new and old fans of LMA.

LMA 2007, like its predecessors, is a fantastic game to play, one that thrillingly takes you on a rollercoaster journey to the highs and lows of football management simulation. It is another valued addition to the LMA series that, while improving upon the fantastic games that have gone before it, LMA 2007 gently nudges the series that step closer to perfection.Between the 06 and 07 versions it appears there are only subtle changes that have been made and thank goodness to be fair! Firstly, there is another great, thumping music track at the start menu, slight changes to the overall colour scheme here and there though not on the scale that appeared between the 05 and 06 versions and, is it just me,the game seems to take longer to load up to the start menu. All in all, LMA Manager 2007, simply keeps up to the exceptional high standards that have been built up over previous incarnations. True, it doesnt vastly improve upon things, yet it doesnt need to and neither is there any radical departure. Nevertheless it is LMA Manager in essence and spirit with the series soul firmly intact. However, it could be argued that the series therefore continues to sit in its own perfectly created comfort zone and that, by now, it appeals to its huge and faithful following instead of working to push the boundaries as it once did and extend its fanbase beyond its market niche!Yet for those familiar or not with LMA 2007 what they will find is a more fresh and innovative approach to football management simulation than any other such type of game out there. It is a game that is realistic and hugely enjoyable to play as well as being quick and easy to navigate through. However, at the end of the day, how well the game does its thing for you depends upon how successful you are as a manager, how well made your choices and decisions have been. Success is not guaranteed though the game is not difficult to master.Lastly, one thing to take note of is that the game unwittingly murders your free time so the skill of time management is essential to playing LMA Manager 2007!Can you successfully undertake the LMA challenge?

First off, this game is understandably not up to date with the latest tranfers, which considering it was already in post production by August, it's not really suprising. On the other hand, if you do want it up to date, then there is a link aparently that if your on-line, can allow you to download the updated list. I'm not sure if it will work for the January tranfer list though. As for the game, well, the bugs are radicated...woohoooo! player increase in money and skill, and they seem to peak aroung 30 years of age, great!Buying players is now back to normal, so it's easier to do so. It's a bit frustrating that the other teams keep selling their players, then but them back again a season later, but maybe it's a way for the players to increase for the other teams, I don't know, a bit confusing, but AIs' for you.On a sad note, yes there is a slight problem with the end of the first season(at present I'm in my second, so not sure if it contiues), it does crash a lot. but I found the best cure is to save it every week, until the end of the season, that way you don't lose too much gameplay. When you get to the end of season it's fine, but it's a pity for that slight glitch.Overall the game is brilliant, it's in the same style as 06 for the game watching, slightly smoother I feel, but otherwise, still the same. Also the practice matches ARE useful in this version, they DO make a difference! It keeps your players fit and they are not so lathargic if you get a couple of weeks between games. Trust me when I say I have suffered badly for taking it off, losing to Middleborough 4-0 is not funny when you beat the likes of Chelsea and Man Utd.I have to admit, this is by far the best version so far.... Bring on 08, I can't wait for the improved version!

LMA Manager 2007 is my favourite game ever, it has everything, great players, great transfer system, great contract system, youth team and you can also improve your stadium. OK, so if you play it a lot you will get to know the best players like another reviewer said, but its always fun, its the same as lma 2006 but the players are updated, i have won every league and the hardest is hollands first division but i did win it in the end with a team called gronigen. If u have LMA Manager 2007 and are at a weaker club i recommend, david mcniven, adam stansfield, mark hotte. But if you want top class players who will win the league for you, dont buy ronaldinho. The best players are Gael Deniaud,Massimo Maccarone, Georgios Samaras, Hakki Senturk, Andreas Wallschlager and loads more, buy this game its amazing and i cant stop playing it, and if youre a fantasy team in the conference buy russell latapy-he scored 57 goals in 1 year, and he's cheap.

LMA Manager 2006 was a success depending on whether you are a fan of the series. The grapics were good, and little sweeteners like stadium construction and training practice matches kept you interested. These factors are why I was looking forward to LMA 2007, and expecting a few more detailed additions to bring this game in line with the football giants like Championship Manager etc. However, having pre-ordered the game and inpatiently waiting 4 weeks for its launch date, it finally arrived! I opened the package, took the CD out and installed it into my PS2. After reading the instruction manual and loading the game, there came the big disappointment.Apart from updated transfers and barely noticable cosmetic changes it was basically the same game! However, just like the English national team fans of this series will have to wait patiently and hope for the best in the future!

I dont understand reviewers by saying this game is slow!!as a fan of football manager series on the pc and the next installment not out till november time, i saw my cousin playing this and thought i would give it a try, my first thoughts were why didnt i get this game when it came out, it is actually really good, the match engine is obviously the stongest link in the game, i love watching my matches in fast mode, its also good that you can do the stadium up when and if you like..so if your low on cash dont bother..or you can even buy a new stadium(you need a lot of cash for this)overall an enjoyable game and i would recommend to any1..pity that no more will be made!!

Those of you who want a a football management game have two choices. Waste your life with tactics and tediousness with the PC football manager and championship manager games, or have some fun with LMA 2007.Sorry to the nerds who have been rating this game one or two stars, but the fact is that this game is suppost to be fun to play, to not be incredibly in depth, and to have nice arcady graphics. The audience for tediousness is over by the PC- LMA is not a geeks type of game guys so don't review it like one.

yes, lma 2007 for the playstation 2, is primarly just a stats upgrade from 2006. how ever it has been ridded of the irritating bugs that came with 2006, it is well worth playing for any football or lma fan, with the huge advancement in the series that came with lma 2006, and now its tidying up in 2007. i can see this game to become one of the all time favourites, hope this was usefull to you

Can I just comment on the review below. Any game starts with the transfers that happened before the beggining of the season because other wise how can u start the game in July when the real transfers happened in august. And the LMA routine is that every 2 years the game gets a new look so 2008 should be very gd. LMA is still an excellent game with alot of management pros!

6.6.2007

This game has an impressive - though not flawless - 3D match engine, which makes it a cut above other manager games. The game is also structured so that you can progress without looking at pages and pages of figures. I find it a good development of LMA 2005. For people who like football, not statistics, this is the manager game of choice.

If you are not the reaction type but want to manage your team to glory then this is the game for you. Run all aspects of your club or hire staff to do it for you its your choice. The games are great and results subject to the quality of both teams, choose your team and tactics, start the game, sit back and enjoy. Great value.

Still the best footie management game on the market. Even tho player updates and up to date versions are no longer available the buzz of having your team win the treble still outguns all of the Fifas, street footie and shoot em ups by miles. Grab a copy while you can because they will soon be luke goldust!!!

24.2.2014

I bought this game in 2007. This is seriously addicting game. I got an PS4 and the reason I still have a PS2 is to play this game. Why on earth is Codemaster not making a new version? i hope the make a new LMA version on the new generation console.

11.7.2011

Absolutely amazing its a shame that they haven't made a LMA Manager 2011 however you will only like it if you are into manager games if you are not then you will find it boring.

23.8.2011
