Anyone wanting something a little different than look no further than Little Nightmares. This platform/puzzle game is quite fun to play if a little short. I say short and I mean short as Little Nightmares took around 4 hours to finish! Not to say I didn’t enjoy it because I really did. The look and style of this game is like nothing I have seen before, the lighting effects are impressive and the puzzles can leave you thinking for a short while before being able to move on. What I really like is how dark this game can be at times. I found myself on edge during certain sections of this game more than I thought I would and more than some recent horror games. At times you really get a feeling of helplessness and vulnerability when sneaking around some of the games enemies. It's hard to explain the story and the character you play. It reminds me a little of limbo where the game just gets going from the off. There isn't much in the way of hand holding and you are pretty much left on your own as soon as you start. My issues are few and have to do with the controls. I found myself getting frustrated at times all because I was falling off ledges because it was difficult to tell what angle the charter was moving at or holding run and my character wasn't running. These few issues at times left me very frustrated and it felt like the game was causing my death and not my own error and I hate that.In summary, if you like a dark platform game that look no further. It's cheap enough, it's short and should you wish to find the collectibles you probably have a few play through to get everything. I most certainly will be replaying this game again and I am glad I bought it at launch.Few mentions, the game comes with a soundtrack with 24 tracks on, the music is eerie and dark and It suited the game very well. Also for those who like trophies there is no platinum.

PLOT:-The game offers little in the way of explanation of why you are placed in the Maw, which seems to be a holiday resort for grotesque beings. However, with no dialogue and no HUD the game subtly and simplistically explains its gruesome plot.GAMEPLAYI can, for a part, understand some of the criticism levelled at the save points - however i feel this is because modern gamers are spoilt. So basically, save points are quite far apart from each other, so making a wrong move can put you back about 5 minutes of play sometimes. However, this harks back to the cruelty of the 16bit era, where you got 3 lives for the entire game and a misplaced jump would put you back to the start of the level. To a generation of modern gamers who are expecting to spawn right next to where they died this is bound to be a shock! This game avoids the jump scares of alot of horror games and moves back to a more tense kind of horror. There is no way to inflict any kind of pain on the bad guys, you simply have to outsmart them, and quite often their patterns of movement are unpredictable. This tension works really well. Some criticism at the game is aimed at the game not being original - again i'd have to disagree, the puzzles are very abstract. One involves you putting meat into a sausage grinder, creating a string of sausages which you can then swing to safety on.GRAPHICS:-Graphically the game is beautiful. Rather than the washed out pallettes of its peers Limbo and Inside, the world is colourful and beautifully crafted. The characters on screen are gigantic and gross and the whole thing simply looks incredible. I'd love them to release an Art Of book.SUMMARY:-A little short, but a simply outstanding game. Dark and whimsical, brilliantly made, and almost genre defining.

This game is a like a mixture of Oddworld Abes Exodus and little big planet (or Limbo). It's a puzzle/platformer set in a side scrolling environment with 3D movement, it's also wonderfully dark and macabre. You play as a mysterious little girl called Six with only a yellow raincoat, a lighter and your wits. It's set in a very strange ocean vessel where you awake in the prison section and must ultimately escape. But several grotesque and dark creatures will hunt you through different sections of the vessel, and you must run/hide. Six is also hit by strange and as the game progresses dark hunger pangs at several points. There's not much story at all but it's the type of game that doesn't really need it much like Dark Souls (also by Namco Bandai)and leaves much to the imagination. The environments are wonderfully created with a unique art style and the music/sound effects are equally good. The puzzles and boss battles are clever, they're fun to work out if not a little trial and error sometimes. There are also strange little cone hat wearing creatures referred to as gnomes that you sometimes see scuttling about and if you can capture them can hug them (part of an achievement).Downsides, the camera at times makes it a little tricky to walk along narrow paths while avoiding falling to your death. Also the game being only £15 is about 5 hours long and will leave you wanting much more. Maybe there'll be additional dlc later on.Overall a unique and fun little horror, unlike many I've played. And one that despite it's cute protagonist and quirks will also leave you surprised by it's creepy dark nature.

Excellent and very atmospheric side scrolling adventure. Reminds me a bit of Playdead's 'INSIDE', which by the way if you haven't played yet I really recommend you do. That's also available on the Switch and is one of my favourite games ever. This game though, like 'INSIDE' is a side scrolling, left to right dystopian adventure. Only a few controls needed too, left-right, jump and grab. As far as I can remember, that's it. That fact doesnt make the game easy though, it can be fairly challenging in places. The art design, especially the antagonists are brilliantly done. Very creepy. The graphics and sound are excellent thoroughout. I've played this game previously on PS4 and haven't noticed too much disparity between the Nintendo Switch and PS4 versions.I'd have to point out though that the Switch version runs at 720p in both handheld and docked modes to allow for smoother performance. This being the complete edition, also included is the 'Secrets Of The Maw' DLC which on top of the original game's 6-7 hour run time adds a few more hours playing time. All in all then, I'd say if you liked 'INSIDE' you'll very probably like 'Little Nightmares'. If you haven't played the former, play it! It really is one of the most intense, atmospheric and emotional games you'll ever play. I apologise if this reads more like a review for 'INSIDE' but I can see many similarities between the two games, especially in the atmosphere, gameplay and the dystopian alternate reality/future.To conclude then, if Playdead's masterpiece 'INSIDE' is a 10 out of 10, 'Little Nightmares' is a very close 9.

Absolutely loved this game! I really enjoyed the creepy aspect of it, some of which got my heart racing with nervous energy! There was a great variety of challenges, and rooms were completely different. It was fun finding the statues and gnomes as I progressed through the game, as well. The scenery was incredible, and captivating. I stopped at some points just to have a proper look around. However, I did come across a glitch in one of the scenes with a chef. It was the bit where you end up in the rubbish dump. As I ran through one of the tiny gaps in the wall (adjacent to the meat blender), the chef glitched straight through the wall, rather than going through the door. He ended up catching me because of that. Not a massive problem, but might be something to look into. My platform is the Xbox One.I would have liked to know more about the world, however. Perhaps information on the monsters that you could uncover. Or even information on our little character. However, it adds to the mysterious aspect, and so it's a light suggestion! What I found a bit tricky was the controls. It was difficult to know where the edge of a platform was, so our little character quite easily fell off and died. The movement was too sensitive and quick, so I had to be careful when navigating around narrow ledges. Frustrating, especially when you're sneeking past/around the monsters!Nevertheless, this is the sort of game where I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel! I'd definitely buy it.

Little Nightmares caught my eye some time ago, and I felt immediately drawn to the graphics and frightening looking characters. Often, I have found I am disappointed when I look forward to a new game, and it’s usually best not to build my hopes up too much. This particular game did not disappoint though. The atmosphere is wonderfully creepy, with a haunting soundtrack (which you actually get with the game as a separate disc), and grim scenery that draws you in.I don’t want to give away any spoilers here, it is a game that is best experienced for yourself. There is no dialogue, but each level speaks volumes, and you will feel compelled to find out more about the environment and main character.Admittedly,I do agree with some reviewers that there are some frustrating moments where the controls could be a little better, however, it did not stop me from completing the game or enjoying the experience. You may find you make a little slip up during a chase sequence, and have to repeat it a few times over, which can get annoying. The only other criticism I could make, would be the length of the game (quite short) but that is only because I desperately wanted to keep playing. You could complete this game in one or two sittings, and I wished there were more areas to explore.I purchased this for about £14, and would definitely recommend for that price. It’s a game I will play again, and will keep in my collection.

You know when you eat the most tasty dinner, but there's still room left for more and there's no seconds? Of sorts, for more than one reason, this is how I feel about Little Nightmares. From the moment Six wakes up, to the final scene, I loved every moment. There are five chapters, 'The Lair' and 'The Kitchen' being my favourites. There's a part of me that wishes every chapter had been as well rounded as those two and that there had been just a few more to boot, but considering it was made by Tarsier Studios, an indie company with limited finances, I'm greatful for what we got.I love how the game makes you feel just as cosy as it does creeped out. The monsters are hideous in appearence to say the least, but the story book graphics and platform design make you feel like a child being read their favourite book in bed. In contrast to the cartoony graphics, there was a dark undertone that threaded it's way through the game. Suggestions of shady goings on which leave you with many questions. There are also a couple moral choices in the game which are suprisingly mature.I found the controls are very manageable, which is something I value highly in a game.I'd really recommend this short, but bittersweet game and absolutely can't wait for the DLC to arrive.

As someone who loved Limdo and Inside - I was looking forward for similar experience. First videos about this game looked promising, so I got it and never regret my decision. It's a very interesting and creepy experience which is hard to not finish in one evening even it it ends way after midnight. The game is quite short, took me 3-4 hours max. Luckily there are 3 good DLCs for it, but each is roughly 1h of gameplay. The game requires you to solve simple puzzles, crawl past disgusting enemies and find objects in order to proceed. Sounds design and music are excellent and never let you go - you feel that almost around every corner you might face an enemy and will have to slowly crawl past him while knowing that any small noise will mean going back to the previous checkpoint.I'm looking forward for another game from this developer - hopefully Little Nightmares 2. The only downside is that my 5 year old daughter wanted to see the game behind that nice box art, but for some reason I didn't want her to see it, so she wasn't happy.

Little Nightmares is a highly atmospheric puzzle/platform game of hide and seek set in an underwater vessel. Very charming, pretty short (around 4-5 hours in length), but this is reflected in the budget price. Several times throughout, things happen and there is genuine panic when you try and escape. Likewise, there are several small shocks that make you jump a little, as the game is very, very creepy - but in a good way!Despite it being a pretty short game, you do want to replay chapters, and there are collectables if you're that way inclined. The game also comes complete with a separate soundtrack CD of the original score used in the game. Negatives...the controls could be mapped a little better - perhaps a future update could allow for custom button configurations. That said, it's not really that bad. Also, there were a couple of times when I fell and died due to harsh precision platforming.Overall however, if you like this genre of game, and it has already peeked your interest, it's a no-brainer really.

Such a freaky little game. There is a reason its 16 + some of the content in this game is genuinly frightning and would not recommend this to little kiddies. You play as 6, who is trying to get out of this nightmarish place. Along the way you will meet with a variety of other "characters" to see how good you are at running your ass off. They are quite disturbing to look at.Brilliant fun, though I found the controls to be slightly delayed, resulting in me falling off platforms over and over again. I didnt like that at all. So if you have patience or are better and controls then I am you will love this. Its a freaky little abstract platform game that is memorable, original and has a wicked soundtrack. Some parts ot this game are so shocking it had my jaw on the florr and eyes open wide. I honestly needed a minute to get over one particular part. This game is so ODD in places and will just compell you to move on just to find out what the hell is going on. I found the ending to be amazing and moving.

Little Nightmares is a game I was intrigued by prior to release. Due to cost I usually wait awhile before getting games, but with this one being a lower priced title I decided to get it straight away.First of all, it looks fantastic. A perfect blend of cute and sinister, which makes me think of Tim Burton movies. It is dark and scary but also very endearing. Gameplay wise, this is a platform game, you need to make your way through the levels without being seen or caught, and without falling to your demise. It is not overly challenging, but depending on how much you play these type of games, might take you a couple of goes to work out each puzzle. It's not a very long game, but it is enjoyable whilst it lasts. In summary: great game, looks fantastic, wish it had lasted a little longer, although I hear DLC is coming.

Little nightmares is a short game (maybe 3-4hrs standard playthrough, longer for completionists) from Tarsier studios. It runs smoothly from area to area with minimal loading screens making for an immersive experience. You play as 'Six' a young girl trapped in a monstrous floating Island. (Think spirited away meets coraline). There is no explanation as to how she ended up here but it is made clear that this is not a place to hang around. The game plays similarly to Limbo with the level being broke into sections which you have to figure how to get through without becoming someone's dinner. It has a great atmosphere and is honestly not of my favourite games of this year. If you enjoy it,it also has a companion comic which delves further into the lore and had bonus DLC due out this year.

I LOVED this game. Not a super long gameplay but honestly it was fine. Also having the additional extra storyline was pretty cool. It’s a puzzle game and sometimes I would get stuck in one area for so long trying to get past the monsters, but it was all really fun. The loading time whenever you die is sooo long tho I don’t know why. My switch is new so I don’t think that’s the issue.I thought the game was going to be cute and for children but BOY was I wrong lmao! I’m 25 and I was creeped out for sure. It’s very dark and I got so shocked by how disturbing it was and how much symbolism there is in it. It’s honestly such a cool game and so much fun!!! Worth it for sure in my opinion.I cannot wait until Little Nightmares 2 comes out. (I already preordered it lol)

I purchased this game after having Little Nightmares 2 on my pre-order list & deducting that there was obviously a first one, which I then found here on Amazon. It arrived speedily, which was great, - thank you Amazon! Especially in this lockdown situation. And the game is really good! Its a platform game, mostly in the darkness, where you have to find your way out of the rooms, sometimes by utilising objects within the room, and you have to avoid getting caught by a terror. What's good is that it has check points as you go along, where the game recommences from if you die, so you don't have to go back to the beginning. Its very terror filled, so deffo an over 16+ age rating! But I have to say,its very good, & im pleased with my purchase ?

My son loves this game, he connected it to the TV so we could all watch him navigate the MAW as SIx, a kid in a yellow Mac.Such a weird concept for a game and at times quite disturbing . Obese humans filing into the underbelly of a big ship to feast on sausages made from captured kids who in turn get used as some type of battery by the owner of the floating human buffet ship. It’s dark and a little odd but my son massively enjoyed finding his way out of each room / level, the only downside was how short it was. He has pre- ordered the second one .
