Super light-weight, very HQ and extremely well made. It feels like a piece of Art whilst working with this tool.I needed an emergency tool kit that I can carry day-in day-out with my biking, which can provide sufficient leverage to tighten up the 8mm crank bolt that holds the SRAM GXP Bottom Bracket together. Yet, also doubles as a hub cone spanner, when paired with another even more compact spanner (eg. super light-weight Lobster UM24SS or UM24XG) to tighten any loosening wheel hub, which in one incident work its way unloosening to the point it jammed the rotation of the front wheel, when the 15mm thru-axle bolt accidentally got loosened whilst riding...not something I ever thought could happen whilst riding in the middle of nowhere, whilst trying to repair the issue without the proper tools (the front disc rotor needs to be removed first to fix this issue).Having the absolute minimum weight made the difference. I tried carrying a compact telescopic Neiko breaker bar for a while, which can extend to 18" to provide great leverage. But the extendable breaker bar tool is too heavy for daily biking. This titanium spanner, when combined with the appropriate ratchet spanner adapter and 8mm hex bit is so much lighter and provides comparable leverage I get from the Neiko breaker bar to address any loose bolts that requires to be tighten sufficiently to address any mechanical issue. The SRAM crank bolt is particularly tricky because if not tightened sufficiently to the specs, not only would the BB start to creak, when the creak is being ignored, the crank bolt can eventually work its way out to the point the non-drive side crank falls off! It happened to me once whilst riding in the rain! Worst, this looseness can cause damage to the crank spindle and makes it more susceptible to the same issue to recur in the future, even after the bolt has been tighten up sufficiently. This self-lossening issue of the crank bolt came haunting my bike for a while, until eventually got addressed with the help of some Teflon tape.A side benefit is Titanium's natural corrosion resistance. Normal tool-grade steel is just not suited as portable biking tool. I started out with a compact Lezyne multi-tool in an attempt to save money on bike tools...but over time the tool bits corroded and started rusting due to moisture exposure (in the rain) during repair. Multi-tool also has a major issue of not providing sufficient leverage to tighten up larger bolt, such as crank bolt which requires 48-54 Nm! Try achieving this torque specification is simply physically impossible with a smaller tool and nothing worst to find out that the non-drive side crank starts to loosen up itself only having just re-tighten it, a few km down the ride! Not having the right tools for on-the-spot bike repairs can generate pure frustration!Having experienced with cheaper and less appropriate tools whilst performing on-the-spot bike repairs I found the KS Tools 28mm Titanium spanner particularly suitable, providing a fine balance between good leverage and minimal weight. The 965.008 version provides 231mm leverage whilst only weighing in at a very impressive light-weight of 141g!Whilst the impressive Lobster UM24XG achieves a remarkable 90g and UM24SS a 80g weight, they can only offer 150mm and 118mm of leverage respectively. The KS Tools 30mm Titanium spanner almost doubles the weight to 259g whilst offering 250mm leverage. The 28mm version in this case is the better option. As part of the feather weight bike tools, I also find the PB Swiss Titanium key L-wrenches a great option to compliment this tool.A quality Titanium spanner may sound a bit extravagant a first, however considering its build-quality and the ability to bail one out of various mechanical (bike) issues over a lifetime, it is a well-worthed long-term investment that will never let one down. :)
