My wife has used a Fellowes mouse mat with wrist support that's very similar to this Kensington Due Gel mat. But it was looking a bit shabby so I thought try this new Kensington mat. The Fellowes mat was a different shape and had a fabric covering a bit like neoprene over the gel wrist rest which got a little worn and dirty, but in its defence it lasted well over ten years. This Kensington mat is slightly more square shaped when you look at it from above - the sides are parallel and then it curves around at the far end. The base is a clear sticky plastic and the black surface you put your mouse on is stuck in place - you need this black surface partly so your laser mouse will work, and partly because the tacky clear plastic would be a horrible material to put your mouse directly on.When I saw the duo-gel padded wrist support I was dubious - it looks like it might be sticky, sweaty and uncomfortable with that gap, but my wife tells me exactly the reverse is true. Although the surfaces of the wrist rest looks like it might stick to your skin, somehow Kensington have made it so your wrist passes smoothly over it when in contact. Apparently it's no more sweaty than her old mouse at, which may be partly down to the gap between the two pieces. And finally, apparently the gap makes it much more comfortable to use over the course of the day.The product pictures show some funky dual-gel colours on this product but ours is a mixture of clear and black - barely noticeable as a visual effect.I only have one negative comment, which is to do with the black mousing surface that is stuck to the clear plastic base - around some edges it doesn't look 100% perfectly stuck down. It seems to be firmly in place. I have no idea whether it will last the ten yours my wife's previous mouse pad lasted, it's much too early to say. Finally, Kensington's packaging. It comes supplied on a cardboard back panel, and is held in place by a big sheet of moulded thick clear plastic. The plastic has a finger-sized hole so you can feel what the gel is like when it is displayed in a shop. This sheet of plastic goes straight in the recycling and could have so easily been avoided if Kensington cared about our planet. The sticky back of the mouse pad has a sheet of removable paper, and there is another small piece of paper drawing attention to the duo gel wave effect. In summary, surprisingly comfortable and effective, a pity about the single use plastic it's supplied in.

I have had this mousemat for a while now and its still great. I used to have an old dell mouse (Dell are rubbish dont buy Dell btw). Anyway, when this mat was new it had a great grip and traction on the track ball in the dell mouse. The many dimpled surface has worn a bit but it still grips the track ball as well as it ever did.I upgraded to a laser mouse about a year ago, as that works perfectly as well, no problems whatsoever. I cant really comment on optical mice, but from my experience most of them felt cheap and jumped to the end of the screen a lot from subtle movements anyway. As for the wristrest itselt, its amazingly squidgey, you'll be poking fun at it for ages, though this was my first gel rest.Something that is annoying is that others who sit at your desk will try to pop it open so the gel oozes out, this hasnt happed though despite great efforts from various people. The rest is on the firm side and of course plastic coated rather than the softer fabric coated belkin gel rests.Another fantasic thing about it is that the underside of the mat is made from sticky squidgey rubber that will adhere to any flat surface, so it wont move about while your using it. This can lead to the eventualy build up of dust and debris on the underside, but you can rinse it off... its all plastic. For me its great, makes my pc seem 100 pounds more expensive due to its professional look. Be warned however, if you need a large mat or use your mouse in large turning circle movements this will not suffice, and it will not replace a gaming mat, which arent comfortable at all but ensure you wont run the mouse off the mat easily. But im a gamer dabbling in the old Oblivion and UT3 goodness and i have not a problem with it...BUY IT.

I bought this Ergonomic Mousepad to use at work in the office, as I was beginning to get pain in my wrist and felt I needed to do something about it before it turned to something more serious.I've been using it for 8 hours a day for a few months now, and my wrist pain has disappeared entirely. The mousepad itself is about a centimetre thick and feels like it will last for a long time. The underside is extremely grippy and will not slide on laminate, wood or glass. There are 2 separate gel pads, as the product picture shows, and this not only looks attractive, but is functional in delivering extra ventilation to the base of your wrist on those stuffy days in the office. It does actually seem to work as opposed to just being a gimmick. I was concerned when looking at the pictures that the gel pads may not be substantial enough, but they're the perfect height. In terms of durability of the gel pads, I've not managed to puncture one yet, and I've accidentally stabbed them with my pen a fair few times, so I'm confident that I won't be experiencing any messy mishaps any time soon. One minor gripe I have is that my mouse makes a strange squeaky noise as it travels over the textured surface of the pad. I think this might be something to do with my mouse though, as the pad bits on the mouse have sharp edges.Other than this, I would recommend this to anyone who is looking to reduce wrist pain caused by heavy mouse usage. There are cheaper Ergonomic mousepads, but this one really is worth the extra few bob.

I usually use something until its dead'er than dead and seen as my old Mousemat had punctured and all the goo was falling out I decided having a top end PC that cost me north of £2500+ a decent mousemat was much in need, So I looked around and was lost as there is so many to go for, I am a gamer as well (BRING BACK JUST SURVIVE!) so I needed a mousemat with a decent circumference and by luck I saw this! The colors did the first eye opener as RED is my fav color but the make "Kensington" are a high end make of products like this, The fact Amazon had it on offer was the last nail in the coffin and I had to buy it, Well I also bought a new gaming mouse just to compliment it and WOW!They work Hand In Glove. This review is about the mousemat so I wont talk about the mouse on here (See my other feedbacks) so the one thing I forgot to look at was the size of usable mouse area on the mat? as a gamer and a prolific Youtuber who has his own channel I need the right equipment to help me generate money on my channel, Well it was luck that this mat isnt huge but its a comfortable working area for the mouse unless your a mouse maneuvering nutter he needs a seperate PC desk just for the mouse??This is a really nice compliment to a decent mouse and PC setup that not only looks the part but also has a peelable bottom which is sticky so you can place it and it wont move or you can keep the paper on it and just pick it up when you like...OVERALL i'd give the mat 9/10.

I definitely like this, in fact I wish I'd bought one years ago. In a way it's a revelation, and makes me think that it should be a mandatory accessory for anyone who uses a separate mouse regularly, as I do. I have been suffering from quite severe pain in my elbow for the past six months and it's highly likely that this has been caused by spending hours a day working at a desk and using a mouse. The Kensington Duo Gel really does look and feel as if will help in this respect. It already feels indispensable.I do have one criticism however - I wish the base on which the mouse is moved around was a couple of inches longer. I guess I'll have to get used to it but in these early times familiarising myself with it,the mouse often catches the front edge which is a slight nuisance. The gel section is great, it just feels 'right' and also gives the impression that it will last.A really excellent product, at a no-brainer price.*UPDATE*I've only had this product for a week but in that short time I can say with certainty that it has reduced the inflammation and quite severe pain in my elbow, which was caused by long periods of time at a desk using a separate mouse and laptop. In that week, the only change worth a mention was the use of this Kensington Duo Gel; everything else the same. So I am confident in giving it the credit for the improvement. Hopefully in a month or so the pain will have disappeared altogether.

Bought for my son so his review.First off, the 'product' dimensions are way out. They represent the size of the packaging, not the item itself (how difficult can it be to measure the mat, the packaging is transparent?). For information, the mat is 18cm wide and 24.5cm in length. The actual mat surface - not including the wrist rest - is about 17cm (some minor curved edges complicate exact dimensions). That was just about the size of my previous mat so not an issue.Have bought Kensington stuff before so stuck with what I knew. The mat works fine with my Logitech optical mouse. Not entirely obvious from the product picture is the wrist rest has a small channel between the coloured sections supposedly to encourage airflow and keep your wrist cool. The logic seems sound but I'm yet to be convinced. The wrist rest is 'open' gel (i.e. a previous Kensington item had a fabric type cover) so it will be interesting to see how it copes long term with watch straps/clasps rubbing against it. The underside of the mat has a gel feel to it and is very grippy (on a wood desk surface) so might cause annoyance to somebody who likes to move the mat around with any frequency. However, it does come with a protective covering so you could leave that on.If that last point doesn't become a problem then I'd buy again and recommend to others.

I'm sick of using ordinary mouse mats which cause my wrist to become very uncomfortable after a short period of time due to using a mobile mouse, as well as their premature wearing, staining etc. So I bought the Kensington Duo mouse mat. It's brilliant. Sure, it costs just over double the price of normal mouse mats, but you get wrist support in the form of contained gel which works great. The gel is pretty comfy, although maybe if it was a little more 'squidgy' then I feel the comfort could be further improved (but its still good). The microsoft mobile mouse I use with it glides fantastically across the pad (much better than on previous mouse pads I've used)since there appears to be less resistance. The Kensington Duo mouse mat FEELS like a quality product, and thats because it is. The raised gel is also useful for greatly reducing the chance of the mouse falling off the desk accidentally. It is a lot longer vertically than most other mouse mats however (the width is comparable if perhaps slightly shorter than standard mouse mats due to the rubber bezel around the pad).I can safely recommend this to everyone who uses their computer for any significant amount of time, especially for those who use mobile mice that typically lack that extra wrist support that a decent desktop mouse usually provides.

I've been working in an office environment for 7 years now and i never felt the need for such a thing, but over the last 18 months to two years I've felt my wrists, palms, small finger become progressively more painful during mouse use and typing.Whilst this is more expensive than other similar items on amazon, it is definitely made of good quality but at the same time akin to gathering dust in the curves (a wet wipe can be used to wipe the dust away). The mouse may is sturdy and doesn't slide on the desk surface and stays fixed in place. The wrist rest is large enough and provides a good level of comfort. I can see this lasting many years to come. The design is also nice and doesn't look out of place in an office.I've felt considerably less pain whilst typing/using mouse at my desk. I brought the Kensington keyboard wrist wrest as a seperate purchase.I would definitely reccomend getting both (mouse and keyboard rest) together and i would reccomend anyone in the office environment to use a mouse and keyboard rest from day 1 and don't wait for the pain to start because I feel once the damage is done it gets progressively worse over time.I've left a 1 star for gaming because I haven't tested this for gaming (not a gamer).

This really is quite a striking mat in the Red style, looking strangely like a large advert for Halls Soothers (the cherry ones and whatever flavour the black ones are). On an office desk it certainly attracts a lot of passing comments. Unfortunately it doesn’t end up looking that smart, since inexplicably there are some dirty bits in the gel which really spoil the effect somewhat.Functionally though it is very comfortable. The gel has a lot of give in it, so initially I thought it might be too soft, and the fact it’s non-uniform height does initially feel a bit odd because if you use the mouse at an angle (which is fairly natural in my opinion) then you end up with your wrist on the edges of the gel, where it’s higher than the middle- yet despite this, it only takes a few minutes of use to get completely used to it and start appreciating it.The surface for the mouse itself is rather nice, and mice glide really well over it. The texture underneath the mat isn’t particularly grippy, but the weight of the plastic and the gel is sufficient to prevent it from slipping about too much by accident. For office use I might have rather had something a little bit more discreet, but it definitely works.

One of the better surfaces for using a mouse, but not quite perfect, and its wrist rest is neither too hard nor too soft but extremely comfortable in use. Based upon another example it will not last forever and the skin enclosing the gel can wrinkle and rupture, which is the reason the older mat has now been discarded after about two-and-a half years, although no specific cause can be attributed. The surface can pick up dust and other particles and some will be transferred from the mouse to the mat. It can be cleaned with a lightly dampened cloth but it should not be very wet.The undserside is slightly tacky and will stick quite well to most surfaces and will not move with the mouse as some lesser products will. It, too, can pick up any existing dust from the desktop and may lose some of its 'stiction', but it can also be cleaned with a lightly moistened cloth. My current mouse of choice is Logitech's Performance MX and probably one of the largest available. Although the mouse can overlap the edges, its optical sensor is always contained within the mat's available area. Some mice with very high sensitivities may need a larger surface but no other sizes are available.

I started getting discomfort in my mouse-using wrist several years ago and have been using a foam wrist rest. This Kensington wrist rest is perhaps a little more comfortable than my foam wrist rest. I do know from experience though that gel wrist rests tend to last longer than foam; foam ones tend to squash down after months of use whereas gel seems to be much more durable. One thing I did notice about this Kensington mat is that my on-screen cursor seems to move faster now than with my previous mouse surface. I don't know whether this is simply because this new Kensington mouse mat is cleaner than my old mouse mat or whether there's something special about the coating. However,it does seem that I have to move my mouse less in order to get the cursor to move the same amount. This could be a good thing if you are trying to minimise movement in your wrist; however, this could be a bad thing if you are used to moving your mouse a lot in order to get the same degree of movement of the cursor.Overall, a good mouse mat and wrist rest.

This is my second Kensington Duo Gel Mousepad Wave (my first was blue). I had my first one for 8 years before the wrist pad split and the gel gradually leaked out and became sticky (it took over a year from splitting to gel leaking), and the only reason it split is that the wrist area 'hovers' over nothing on a corner on my cockpit style desk, and the weight of my wrist on it eventually caused it to split, but it did take 7 years for that to happen. The mousepad also gets moved often, as my son uses my desk when he visits, and he's a righty and I'm a lefty. The stickiness of the underside has never lessened with all the moving about. When it gets a bit gritty or the stickiness seems to have gone,I take a wet-wipe and clean it, and voila it's sticky again. On initial use, the gel rest itself is very firm, but this gradually softens after 6months, but does not get too soft and continues to support the wrist over its lifetime. Incredibly great value considering how long it lasts and how good it's support is.

I don’t have particular problems with my wrists/RSI, but I thought this mouse mat might help prevent any from developing. Since I mainly use my laptop at home, I took it into work and use it in my office, in place of a cheap, thin mouse mat that I had before.I’m rather impressed. It’s not an especially large surface, but there’s enough space to move the mouse. It’s fairly heavy for its size and the underside sticks well to the table, so no sliding about. The wrist support is soft and comfortable.I was intrigued by the suggestion that the channel in the wrist support helps ventilation and prevent your hand from overheating. My hands are prone to sweaty palms, so this could be useful. However,I’ve only been using this over the last couple of months (October-December). Therefore, I can’t really comment on how effective this feature is, as I’ve not been dealing with summer heat.(I’ve rated it 5* for gaming, because I didn’t want to down-rate it, but I haven’t used it for this so can’t really comment.)

I have only started using this, but so far it's going great. At the base, are two interlocking teardrop shapes of squishy gel. Mine are black and smoke. (I think the colours are just decorative.)Your wrist sits comfortably between the intersection. It feels cushioned and it raises your wrist around three quarters of an inch from the base. And it is cool to the touch, although your wrist soon warms up the gel. And because these gel sections interlocking, there's airflow beneath your wrist which adds to the coolness and comfortable. The mousing pad, which measures around 7 in.², is squeaky black vinyl. I wasn't expecting this -- but my mice slide over this more slickly than a regular mouse mat.Initially it took me a while to get used to moving slightly less to get the same effect but I think I like this. I think it's going to save on movement. The pad, itself, has a nonslip base -- so it doesn't slip about on the desk.Definitely an improvement on my cheap and cheerful wrist rest. Recommended.

I had a Kensington keyboard wrist rest not long ago, which was too tall to be comfortable, but more importantly, smelt of cigarettes. This mouse pad has the same issue regarding the smell, which leads me to wonder if either the Kensington factory is next to a cigarette factory, or the staff smoke a lot.Either way, the smell does actually go after a few days, so if you can get over it for the first few, you're good to go.Using a full size mouse (I'm using a HyperX Pulsefire Core), the gel cushion is pretty much the right height. It's comfortable, but if you aren't used to using one, it will take a while before it feels right.Other reviewers have commented on the size of the mouse mat; it's a similar size to the mats of yesteryear, and I've not encountered any issues with using it on a dual monitor display. My mouse does have adjustments for DPI, but even on the lower settings it appears to be fine.Overall, a good price for a well built mat and cushion. Recommended.
