I'm usually a whisky drinker but fancied something a little more refreshing during these summer months. I'd read about Jinzu online and decided to try it in a bar, being the first proper gin I'd tried I fell in love with it straight away, unfortunately what i didn't realise is that this gin made it hard for all it's competitors to keep up. I subsequently tried a range of gins including monkey 47, bathtub gin, opihr and Hendricks (not an exhaustive list) The Hendricks was also very nice but the rest couldn't hold their own with the jinzu. I found some too astringent, the monkey 47 smelled awesome but tasted unbalanced with too many flavours going on it was just messy.Jinzu is just a pleasure to drink,it's smooth, has that japanese twist to the flavour which is lovely and goes best with fever tree. Tried it with fentimans and some sainsburys tonic, both of which mask the subtle flavours of the jinzu and just end up making your drink taste bitter.Anyway after trying jinzu in a bar I ended up buying a bottle which I finished off yesterday. I enjoyed this gin from the first to the last drop and will definitely buy more of it.

Gin's having its moment and that means people trying to out-gin gin - add a new twist or 'contemporary angle' it probably doesn't need. Jinzu hops on board the Asian-fusion bandwagon by chucking in sake, yuzu and, er, cherry blossom. So far, so... uninspired. The addition of coriander also made me a little hesitant. If you like your gin fairly standard, this probably won't be to your taste. I feel it needs to be paired well with the right tonic to truly shine. Green apple seems to have the right balance of sweetness, but the flavour lends itself well to experimentation. The sake adds a smoothness and takes the edge off any bitter aftertaste, the cherry blossom provides the perfume (not unpleasant but a little more than expected.)Thankfully the juniper is still strong enough to dominate the flavour, but the other elements do add interest. It isn't bad taken with just a bit of water, either. An unusual gin perfect for someone looking to add a bit of interest to a classic, without being overwhelming. The beautifully-designed bottle makes this an excellent gift.

Love the gin, hate the stopper. Message to all the producers of top shelf booze, we get it that you want your product to look like quality, but one of these two are essential, stopper that fits tightly, plastic that is secure around the stopper. Ideally both should be the case, but at least one is a must, Jinzu neither present, luckily the carrier had kept the box the correct way up and loss was minimal, but it was more luck than judgement. I am left wondering, could someone have opened it previously, could it have been sitting around a long time, should i order it this way again, was the quality affected, should i have returned it. I still love the gin, think it is one that works really well with just a little water,it's complex enough to take it, but that stopper lost you a star, 4.5 is closer to the truth but not an option.

This is a gin I really wasn't sure about at first. I find the flavours that come through quite unusual, and one in particular is quite a potent taste. I knew I was taking a risk when I bought it, as other reviewers described flavours weren't I wasn't familiar with. However after making it again, measuring only a single and mixing with mediterranean tonic I found I quite liked it even though it was still quite distinct from other gins. So its not just a pretty bottle for the shelf after all....

We ordered this gin after a friend sent us an email about ‘the best gins you might not know about’…and this was one of them! Jinzu is made with a blend of traditional English gin botanicals (juniper, coriander, angelica) joining cherry blossom, yuzu citrus fruit and sake to form a distinctive gin with subtle, compelling sweetness and a strong enough juniper backbone that carries all the way through to the aftertaste…East meets West to great effect! (Very reasonably priced too!)

This gin is lovely. I bought it as a present for my girlfriend and it went down ohhh so smoothly. The blend of English gin (featuring juniper, coriander, angelica, yuzu and Japanese cherry blossom as botanicals) and sake really does it a beautiful creamy mouth feel. This is coupled with a subtle, compelling sweetness to its flavour profile.People recommend trying it with a slice of apple (which is delicious) but we tried out some pomegranate and woah.. new favourite drink!

Poured with Fever Tree tonic, ice and 1 slice of lemon the subtle aromatics with a creamy texture provides a highly refreshing, satisfying and easy to drink G&T. It's particularly good for those who don't like their gin too heavy on the juniper, but that certainly doesn't mean it's bland or lacking in flavour. Agree with other reviewers that it must be consumed with Fever Tree tonic.

Bit quirky for a gin:London-style dry, made in Scotland, inspired by the far East. The Citrus shows through with a good tonic, though this gin is a 1-spirit show, and does not mix with other spirits of any kind.I've experienced more balanced gins for cheaper, but I can appreciate the finish on this one, and I'm glad I tried it.

Bought this for christmas, but it was way too tasty. I suffer from bouts of sleepwalking, and on christmas eve, after a nightcap of this gin, I awoke sitting under the christmas tree, with this bottle half empty in my hands.Could be cursed, need to analyse further.

I usually opt for Roku, as I'm a massive Japan fan and absolutely love trying Japanese drinks and food. This gin is now a firm favourite in our house, even my partner likes it.It has a much deeper floral flavour and is just generally so pleasant to drink!

One of the most interesting gins I have tasted, and I have tasted quite a few! Hint of Sake,Yuzu fruit comes through, slightly citrus with some sweetness/floral from the cherry blossom. Great stuff.....

Bought as a present for my partner. The presentation is absolutely beautiful and he also loves the flavour. He has ranked it amongst his favourites and the bottle is almost empty after a few days!

Really very good, I found it reminiscent of an old tom style, so if you like that flavour profile, chances are you will like this.Had it with 1724 and lime zest, very smooth and full of flavour.

Exciting new gin, received this as a Christmas gift and it was delicious! Best new gin I've found in ages. Was a wonderful christmas morning g+t., shame it will be empty by new year.

A very pleasant gin but perhaps too subtle on the flavours that for me were too easily lost, the choice of tonic makes a big difference, Fever tree would be my recommendation.
