These products aren't cheap but they are excellent quality. The hi-tech use of wool means that you get a lot of warmth for very little bulk, so they work really well when layered with other clothes (or best of all, with outer layers from the Icebreaker range, although that can get expensive!).Icebreaker products really are top knotch and I've been wearing my 260 Base Layer top all through the recent bitterly cold snap. It's a really good fit and so much more stylish than most thermals -- which means it's easy to peel of some top layers indoors without worrying that you're going to look like an insane granny in weird white woolies! At first I was a little concerned that the wool would be itchy, but this simply isn't the case. The base layer is as comfortable next to the skin as cotton, but ten times warmer! Also, there's no itchy or irritating seams or labels, and great styling. Good choice of colours, too.Icebreakers are different to many other thermal garments because they are designed to be used in active sports, and so the wool fabric breathes naturally. This means they stay very toasty but don't smell -- at all -- not even after weeks of being worn regularly. And they are fully machine washable (just don't tumble dry).Icebreakers do have a very sporty image but I use mine in every day life at the moment. They are really practical, warm and comfortable, and you don't need to be walking to the South Pole to get plenty of benefit from them. There are other much cheaper thermal brands out there, but Icebreakers seem to be me to far superior. I suspect mine will last for years.HOWEVER, when ordering/choosing your garment, I advise that you check which weight/conditions the top or leggings are intended for. My 260 base layers are rated as suitable for extreme cold, yet I wouldn't want to have any less warmth from them. I wear them while working in chilly conditions, and haven't been too hot at all. So I would always opt for the highest-rated garment, suited to extreme cold where ever it's available.9/10

I've been wearing these Icebreaker merino baselayers since I first discovered them, probably about 15-20 years ago and still have some of my original purchases. This is the latest addition and is top quality, true to size (I'm a 12 and wear medium, but small would probably fit well too) with sleeves which amply reach my wrists and the body covers my hips/abdomen and tucks comfortably into trousers. and performs well beating all other baselayer tops I've tried including high-performance synthetics etc - you really can't beat natural wool. I wear them from early-autumn through to late-spring and find them comfortable in temperatures ranging from 18°C down to 2-3°C outdoors. In colder temperatures or when spending long periods outdoors, eg winter-camping, I double-up either wearing two long-sleeved tops or a vest-design from the same range beneath and the two layers together, both 200GSM, are especially snug. I often add a chunky woolen sweater on top plus a breathable windproof layer and am ready for the coldest weather. In warmer weather or when I'm especially active they wick moisture well and, even when worn solidly for a week, including sleeping in it while camping, there is absolutely no smell. They wash well, either by hand or machine at 40°C or cooler and dry fairly quickly. This 'Oasis' range has a soft, smooth, almost silky finish whereas the very similar 'Basics' range has a slightly rougher rib finish and is a little more stretchy. Both are very warm, very comfortable and there is absolutely no itch, even on my fairly sensitive skin.

I am very impressed with these Icebreaker baselayers. So far I've worn mine for walking, camping, canoeing and sleeping in. In mid-winter trips when I've been wildcamping with no facilities at all, I've popped it on before leaving and not taken it off for several days until returning home again. This is a good test of comfort and performance - and it's excelled on both. This Oasis crew is warm, cosy, the merino wool doesn't itch at all, doesn't pill beneath rucksack straps, dries fast when it gets wet (from sweat or a shower) and is still warm even when wet. Icebreaker say it won't develop any odours and - they're right. 5 days of wearing mine, including for sleeping in,and there was no smell at all.Until buying this, I'd worn a variety of Helly Hansen merino wool and polypropylene mix (never again..!), polyester, viscose, viscose/cotton blends, microfleece ... etc - you name it, I've tried them all but none comeeven close to the Icebreaker Body 200 for warmth, comfort and performance - although the Icebreaker is noticeably less wind-proof. Mine is nearly 2 years old yet still looks and feels as good as new and has become my baselayer of choice - and for daily wear too.A confidently-recommended purchase.

The first thing I thought when I saw this was: reading in winter. I just got some comfy leggings so I jumped at getting this shirt. It fits perfect.I am not a great outdoors's person and it is currently spring in Alabama (hot). But...it is rainy today. I am off work. I want to read. So I felt this would be a perfect day to test out the shirt. It is humid outside so the air conditioning is coming on every once in a while. On a day like this, I get cold. I put the shirt on for about four hours. This shirt is all wool which I am allergic to. It was a little itchy around the waist and shoulders. It is not as itchy as other wool sweaters and skirts I have worn in the past. The cost: Cowabunga. The price of a medium black is $83. The stitching looks good. It is made in China, so why is the price so high?

This 100% Merino Wool is premium quality and fantastic. It is soft and supple yet strong and durable with a just right amount of stretch that allows you to easily put it on and take it off. The size medium sample fit great and as expected. The flat seams are not noticeable when worn for extended periods of time. I don't find them to irritate or itch at all. This particular version is for their 200 rating thickness. It is for warm to cool conditions. It wicks away moisture and keeps you cool or keeps you warm and dry. If you need a base layer for cold environments then look to their 260 thickness version. The great thing about Merino is that it only gets softer with age.A great base layer that will last a long time. Great. 5 stars.

Merino wool is essential for any physical activity in cold weather. It's light and stretchy, it doesn't weigh you down or restrict your movement like normal wool. At the same time, it keeps you incredibly warm, especially given how light the material feels. It's also moisture wicking and breathable so you won't freeze if you get sweaty.I have a number of merino wool clothes, and Icebreaker are truly some of the best.In terms of sizing, I would recommend ordering one up if you're on the taller side.I'm 5'6'' and 120lb and ordered a Medium instead of a Small.I like to be able to tuck in my shirt during the winter (keeps you warmer) and the Medium is just long enough.

I bought this for my wife and it fits her very well. Moreover it's warm, keeps down odours (no problems when worn for several days over a camping & rock climbing trip in the Peak District this October) and washes well too provided you are careful (we use zip bags for the washing machine and a wool-specific washing product). I've owned several icebreaker items over the years and they are some of the best baselayers around. My only caveat is that I choose a synthetic top if I'm going to be on water (rowing/kayak/canoe or whatever) as wool does take longer to dry and gets heavy if you take a dip.

Of all things I've purchased for our many traveling adventures this has been the best one. I take this with me everywhere I travel to. I wear it when I hike or on the plane. I love that it keeps you warm when you're cold and it keeps you cool when it's hot by wicking away sweat. This is my "Go To" item when I start packing my bag. The material isn't itchy to me. However, I usually have a tshirt or tank top as a primary layer underneath. But I have very sensitive skin and I hate anything rough touching it. I've worn it as a primary base layer a few times and it didn't bother me.

Not the cheapest, but this top performed very very well on a recent 7 day backpacking/camping hike around scotland. Needing to pack super Iight I wore it every day for walking, washed it only once during the week with no sign of smell appearing on the top (20 miles hike a day so thats amazing, it smelt better than me!). I wore just this top most of the time with a jacket during rain, and it felt comfortable on the 20 degree sunny hot day and also on the 5 degree wind and rain lashing days. Also not see through like some base layers, and long enough in the body. Recommeded!

I am so impressed with this vest. I didn't buy it for sports purposes but because illness has stopped me from walking briskly and I was trying to keep warm while walking much more slowly. The vest is quite close fitting but comfortable with nice long sleeves. I wondered if the wool would be tickly or scratchy but it's not. It's soft and stretchy and I quickly forgot I was wearing it other than being pleased to be so warm when out on my walks. I've bought the leggings too which are equally excellent. Although pricey, these are well worth every penny!

I love these Icebreaker shirts - I have several. So, when I saw the orange one on the Amazon site I was thrilled, because it's a color I don't have. However, when the shirt arrived, it was BLUE! I double-checked this Amazon site and it still shows the "whirlpool" color to be orange, and it is NOT. Whirlpool is blue. So I thought I was ordering an orange shirt and got a blue one instead.

This is a wonderful top that is form fitting, very soft with a tight weave, allows plenty of room for movement, and keeps me warm. I can wear this by itself as an outer garment and look great, but I could have done without the obnoxious logo on the sleeve. I wish I had gotten this in the fall for the Erie winter. It's quite beautiful.

I bought this for a weeks motorbiking holiday in Spain. It is amazing. It feels soft no itching. It fits well. It washes well. It keeps you warm when cold and cool when hot. I even wear it to work under dresses ! It doesnt smell even when temp was 29 Celsius. You can wear it for days . I thin this is a top quality product.

Excellent quality top, so comfortable to wear. I wore it for 7 consecutive days skiing in December, it was fresh to put on everyday & did what it said - held no odour. Brilliant for anyone wishing to travel light, or have a really comfortable top that was snug on the slopes & perfect off the slopes.

Awesome base layer! I purchased this top after reading several positive reviews about it on hiking and backpacking sites. It was the very best clothing item I purchased for a backpacking trip. It keeps you warm while keeping the sweat away from your skin, and it's very comfortable.
