I have three dogs. Three lovely, excitable, vivacious and ,sometimes, a little rough on their toys and accessories terriers. Two have medium to floor length, single coats of fine, silky hair that will easily mat and tangle around a flat collar. The round elk leather doesn't catch the fur as easily, allowing it to wind around it rather than rubbing into a mess for me to brush, and is exceptionally soft against the delicate skin of their throats.A dog's skin is only three to five cells thick at the neck compared to about fifteen cells for a human so it's important to pick a collar that doesn't irritate it. Especially when considering the numerous important structures located in and around the neck. For this reason, a harness is preferable when walking, but collars are essential for identification purposes. After almost a full year of constant use, I've found these to be of excellent quality. It has grown softer and more supple with use, stretching slightly (as it is a natural product) and the colour has faded a little to a deeper red. Considering I have done no maintenance on the leather I'm quite impressed and imagine that, were I to clean them properly and oil and care for them, the collars would retain their colour far longer. As is, I'm quite pleased and will be buying them again several years from now when they finally deign to give out.Until then, I've recommended them to all of my friends and family who are similarly impressed by the simple elegance blended with functionality.I also recommend the matching harnesses, especially for longer coats, though I would say do measure your dog carefully. They are true to size but, for some dogs, you may wish to get a hammer and a nail or screwdriver (or a leather punch if you have it) and put an extra hole in. The middle chestpiece that goes between the legs is quite long and I'd have preferred it be further adjustable as well, since my dogs are small, but it would be a boon to anyone with a deeper chested breed that struggles to find something that fits. They are still quite suitable for tiny breeds though, one of mine is six-seven inches tall.

I purchased one for our Rough Collie Puppy who has just grown to big for her flat puppy collar. I have always used the rolled leather collars on our Rough Collies as the flat collars do not work very well with their ruffles.round the neck.I have used Ace collars before but have found the quality of workmanship has not been there on our last couple.I have used Hunter leads and have been very impressed by the brand ,the collar is very soft and sits round the dogs neck great and does not tangle the fur like the flat ones I measured her neck very carefully and came up with a measurement of 38 to 42 cms..When I put it on her I found the size was good lovely soft leather and well made different toones used before but their is only three holes for adjustment so I put it on the smallest ,but after a days wear I noticed that with the warmed of her body the collar has stretched so that it is now to large for her so I have got to order a smaller size in the hope that fits her untill she is fully grown My advice is if you invest in one of these take into account there is only three adjustments ,and because the leathers stretchers a lot chose the smaller size .

I have now bought four of theses collars, due to not measuring the dogs and I have got the size wrong twice! I am so pleased with the collars as they are soft but strong and as my two pull a lot on the lead it is really important to have a strong collar. The rounded shape is great for long haired breeds as the hair doesn't get so tangled around the collar. I would recommend checking the size of your dogs neck as all dogs are different, as I have found to my cost. A lovely product.

This collar is so soft & the perfect colour for my chocolate lab. She has only had it on for a few weeks so can't comment on the longevity of it really. However, it has already been through rivers, mud, sand - and collar still looks great. I didn't look at the size guide before ordering but I would advise that you do - I was lucky and it fits (on the last hole mind!). If you weren't so lucky you would probably have to reorder.

I prefer a rolled collar for my dog, with no raw leather edges to rub or chafe the dog’s neck, the quality is excellent and I wouldn’t use any other and have used these for over fourteen years, , I haven’t worn one of these out only bought the next size as the dogs over the years have grown out of them brilliant.the best collar to buy got your dog .

Lovely and soft - dog likes it - a bit smaller than I thought it would be - have to put it on the first hole - glad I only bought one initially as I have 3 dogs, and this one just fits the smallest dog - will buy for the other 2 in a bigger size. Really lovely soft leather, and as I use it just for identification purposes - it is just the ticket.

Lovely soft leather, nice and thin so comfy for our Labrador and stylish. Well made and sturdy. Dog swims in it but it stays in good condition. We had tried several collars and some very expensive but this is the best one. Bit bigger than I thought it would be so do measure before buying if not sure on size.

This red leather collar from Hunter is a replacement. The first one was a Hunter as well, was a tiny bit smaller, lasted 6 years, just now it was showing signs of wear and tear. It is a classic, it is a natural material; the red fits the grey curly hair of the poodle !

Really good quality collar. It's one of those things that you want to 'feel' as the quality can be so variable. But you can just sort of sense that this has had some care put into it. Also has the little hunter label (a pleasant bonus) that's pictured on the brown one.

Ordered this for our Boston Terrier, went for size small.Have to say it's a lovely soft leather collar and smells lovely due to the leather that's used. Our Boston has no issues wearing it (she has had issues with other collars we've bought)

Always bought Hunter collars, this one is perfect for my Tibetan Spaniel X Chihuahua. The leather is butter soft and looks just perfect against my dogs white fur. They are expensive.... but they do last for years if looked after.

Fantastic! Brilliant quality and good range available. A little confused by sizing but over all 10/10. My dog normally has skin problems with collars rubbing but has been absolutely fine with this collar!

Brilliant collar, soft, comfortable for my dog and strong. My only criticism is that the leather along the length of the collar has cracked and the coloutc is fading and we've only had it 3 months.

This is a true work of art! It’s remarkably soft, yet extremely strong. Easy to clean and looks fabulous on my dog! Highly recommend this collar for those who want the best for their dog.
