Needed a replacement calculator for my work as a financial advisor, as well as to do some further professional exams and projects.The calculator seems light in weight and would be easy to carry in a suit pocket. I probably won't bother to use the soft plastic case that came with it, as it seems slightly awkward and most likely isn't necessary in reasonable and responsible day to day use.The calculator feels robust and well made and I would expect it to be good for years of use in a professional environment.The keys are clear and operate with precision. Their various functions are easy to see and work out.It seems easy to use and the quick start manual answers most questions straight off - there is also a full manual available on disk (and online from HP)if needed. Off the record there is also a good image of the calculator available from iTunes, so you can replicate the calculator and most of its functions on your iPad or iPhone if required, which is a boon professionally if you are with a client or in a meeting and you realise the calculator is at home or in the car but you have your iPad or iPhone.... The most significant thing about this, whether HP promote it or not, is that you can use the same calculator and work method across several platforms seamlessly.Time / value for money calculations, such as mortgage repayments, 'what if' scenarios and amortization seem quick and easy to carry out and are in fact a little quicker and easier in most cases that the manual tells you, as often the clearing of specific memories or setting of number of payments per year isn't necessary (that being said, when you need them or just have to be sure, the ability to clear specific memories or set payments per year to something other than 12 is invaluable.Everything seems to work as it should, in a clear and efficient way and there are no obvious eccentricities in regard to how you input data.I could easily imagine this is an instrument that you could 'grow into' in that it certainly looks as if you could use it for more and more advanced levels of work as time went on.I made a trivial error the first time I used the calculator and managed to blank the display having set off a complex calculation but a quick press of the reset button inside the battery compartment sorted it out perfectly.Delivery was quick and on time, despite what I suspect might have been a heavy workload on a busy Saturday.In summary the calculator is light but solid, easy to use and will grow with you to the most advanced levels.

Excellent machine, good big & clear numbers display, good tactile keys, lots of functions - what more can you ask? Answer: RPN (Reverse Polish Notation) and Programming. HP: this machine DESERVES RPN as operating mode. I'm a big fan of the HP41C & HP12C and I'm very happy with them after more than 30 years of use. I compared this calculator with them because I was having difficulty to see the orange text.The background around the keys on this one is too dark (compared with the old "chaps") which makes the orange thin labels difficult to see. Suggestion: make the background in lighter color and use yellow text instead. These are NOT defects but improvements that HP can make on this calculator to make it one of the best.If the user does not know what RPN mode is, good - continue to use the Algebraic or Chain modes (this calc. does have both) because once you learn to operate RPN you will not go back to the other modes.More to ask to HP: include the date format yyyy.mmdd - It's used nowadays by IRS, CRA (Canada Revenue Agency), NASA, Japan and others.HP: I'll buy also in a hart-beat the 10bii+ RPN with the improved features I'm suggesting.

Bought this for a required course at school. It's great for doing financial calculations and I can see myself using this outside of class as well. It's very slim and compact, the buttons are nice to use and the ways to use the functions are quite logical. Only downside is that I would have preferred a traditional, plastic slide-on cover; this one comes with a faux-leather pouch/cover which I find a bit out of place.

I purchased this calculator on the back of the previous reviewer's comment about his purchase for the CII exams. I found this calculator really good and easy to use with a bit of help from the user manual. Although originally purchased for exam use, I envisage being able to use this in my day to day work as an alternative to spreadsheets.

I bought this calculator to help me with my CII financial services exams, it has done everything I have asked of it (and can do lots more), I strongly recommend this to anyone considering it, especially if you're taking R02

Not good with all the fancy calculators but need this for work and exams. Good as it comes with a CD to show you how to use it as well as an easy to follow manual.

Does what it says on the tin. If you are buying this for uni it is a good option as it is one of the more popular models used in examples in textbooks etc
