Bought this for my son who gave his (same model) a shower from his water bottle at the gym; drying out did not revive it. An all this just a month before his exams, when it wouldn't have mattered in the same way. So had litttle option but to buy the same as he was used to. I don't use this but have used calcs since the Sinclair Cambridge and HP29 (brill!); I'm told it works fine, and it appears up to usual Casio standard. My personal view is I'm over a barrel because it's a school spec graphics calc, and price seems to be held high, for what it actually offers. The school has to loan out these units to people who can't buy it, and I'm not surprised, at two ponies or bullseye! Blimey!

Originally, I had considered buying a more basic graphical calculator such as the Casio FX-7400GII-L-EH at a Fraction of the cost. I struggled to Differentiate between the two but eventually decided on the FX-9750GII. My reason? Just Cos.However my item arrived late - I wasn't able to calculate coefficients, due to Amazon not being (co)efficient. This let me down immensely, perhaps it was a Sine not to use Amazon in the future - a topic Dividing my family. I don't intend to be Mean, but it's important prospective buyers see a Range of opinions.In Addition, upon arrival I found one of the plastic pads was slightly deformed - another complaint to add to the Equation. I would like the Root of this issue to be found,

Really great calculator. I frequently use it for A Level Maths and Further Maths and it is invaluable to my studies. It has the ability to find inverses of matrices (as well as basic addition/subtraction/multiplication) so is great for exam checking. The graphing function (whilst it can be a little buggy with zooming) is great for checking the shape of a function or even reading off values thanks to the 'trace' command. As well as having a financial mode, conic mode and many more it also allows you to write your own programs which I find very useful and time-saving. For example, I've written programs to find the roots of quadratics/cubics etc. in order to speed up factorising.

The calculator itself is great.... with an OS update.Without, it's ok, but you can easily get confused when typing in long equations etc.For example, lets take the polynomial 4x^2+3x-5With the OS that the calc came with, it would give you the answer x= 0.8042 or -1.554 which is no good for exams.With the updated OS, the calc gives the answer (-3+sqrt89)/8 or (-3-sqrt89)/8, as well as the decimal answers.Upgrading also allows you to integrate with limits, etc.While upgrading the OS isn't super easy, it's not that difficult, and I expect that anyone buying this calculator for all the functionality that it offers should be able to figure it out. I am a second year college student, i have found this calculator useful for further maths and physics.I chose four stars because I feel the calculator is a really good product, it does petty much anything you can imagine a calculator to do, plus a little more. That's because of the programming ability written in casio basic, which is simple to learn, ten minutes reading can get you started on this simple language to get the full out of this calculator.The only downside, was that it does not return answers in exact form, i.e, surds or multiples of pi, this makes no sense to me, seeing the more basic models by casio easily doing that task,

Literally. The difference between an A and a B at GCE Maths. (For me anyway)It's a great handy calculator which I only use for graphs and plotting.It enables me to check my answers and also helps with transformations as I find visual graphs a lot easier to understand than struggling to imagine them in my head.Reason it's not 5 stars is because:1. Complexity of calculator - instruction manual does not cover it in depth enough, maybe I'm just a technology noob2. Fractions display isn't in Casio's traditional box style. Instead you have what Sharp has - a little symbol at the bottom. Using a Casio all my life and having the traditional boxes, this puts me off a tad bit3. Does not display exact answers,

I bought this calculator for my A levels. It's incredibly useful, especially in C2 and C3, and helped me tremendously. I used it mainly for drawing graphs and checking my answers for differentiation/integration questions. It also allows you to solve equations in seconds saving valuable time in exams.The only problem is that it has the old style display format, so you don't get exact answers. This is problematic, as it becomes very difficult to enter complicated functions involving fractions and irrational numbers. However, this can be overcome by upgrading the OS. Although this sounds complicated, it's actually very easy and takes a couple of minutes.

This was the cheapest Casio graphics calculator that I could find and there isn't anything that I feel it needs to be better than the £100+ graphics calculators. The graphs are easy to plot and interpret, and the integration calculations are excellent too. There is still so much I haven't yet learnt to do on it and I am still very impressed regardless. The only cons that I have are that it is not a very good standard calculator - there is no fractions button like there is on the scientific Casio calculators, and it doesn't leave answers in terms of pi. But this is fully compensated by the fact you can take more than one calculator into the exam!

A mightily powerful tool indeed. There's a serious learning curve involved with the device, and hours will just vanish as you get to grips with it. By using much of the calculator's built-in capabilities, you can write powerful programs of your own in just a few lines. Some of the functions will take some effort to get your head around, but it's worth the effort. If you enjoy learning such stuff you will enjoy this.On the down-side, if you don't use Windows, the USB port isn't going to be much help. It would be nice to be able to access the storage in a generic way for backup purposes, if nothing else.

This calculator was very useful during my GCSE Mathematics exams and will without a doubt be useful for A Level Maths in September. The product is a little pricey and the menus take time to get used to especially if you are used to the Casio 85ES and therefore it may seem quite confusing at first. However, after some practice and reading through the booklet, the product is bound to aid you in your exams.Pros:> Handles very complex calculations with ease> Has very good battery life> Is easy to use once you get the feel for itCons:> Quite heavy> A little expensive> Takes some getting used to

Very sturdy calculator. It's helping me through my A-Level maths and hopefully will do next year in further maths. The graph function is quite simple to get started up on, however , you will need to keep the instruction manual handy as it does get confusing. For those who are used to Natural Display, note that this calculator doesn't have the typical fraction button. Also inputting things like root 3 will only give you the numerical answer. Meaning to check your answer you will have to divide it by your exact answer from your workings and get something close to 1.

*****DISCLAIMER TO FUTURE/CURRENT BUYERS*****Everyone who is thinking about purchasing this calculator it is an EXCELLENT and POWERFUL instrument that would aid you in studies, programming or other general uses however please note that this calculation DOES NOT HAVE NATURAL DISPLAY SETTINGS, Natural display settings are settings that allow you to keep equations in their basic forms e.g. 1/3 would be converted to 0.333333333 or surds would come up as decimal.If you want a calculator with these setting then you must purchase the FX-9860GII:

Meets my daughters needs for stats, graphs, solving intersection points etc. and more. It is a bit confusing knowing how to edit the graphs, but the end result is good. We think it's still better to also have a "normal" calculator which can do the basic calculations, fractions, indices etc., due to the different way in which this calculator works - it makes life a little easier in class. For example we recommend having the Casio "fx-991DE plus" as well for A-level maths and further maths work.

I got this for my son as it was the recommended one to get for his Maths A Level.I'd read here that there might be a need to upgrade it for accuracy; So, having got it I went online to check that the OS version on the calculator (press menu, select system, press f4 to view OS version) is the latest one. I'm happy to confirm his came with version 2.04, which is the latest available online.So all up to date and exactly what he needs and he says it's already coming in very handy.

However you will find (unless you unofficially upgrade the OS to 2.0) you cannot work with Vectors (dot product etc.) and are stuck with Matrices. By unofficially upgrading (much literature on the net) you gain not only these features but an extra 128 MB of flash storage for programs - turning the machine into a functionally identical (except for backlight) 9860GII.Very well built and reliable - I now have had mine ten years since they first came out and it still is perfect.
