To be perfectly honest, this is one of those situations where I half expected a company such as Kodak to release a similar product. They themselves envisaged 'the analogue revolution', yet it is HP that have beat them to the trick... A portable photo printer that connects wirelessly to your smart device. Not a new concept, but the execution is very good. The size of the device itself wonderful, measuring in at almost 15cm length, 9cm width. There is a lot of technology packed inside here, though I can't help wonder where the portability is aimed at. It's not so small that you could fit it into a pocket, but at the same time it doesn't need to live on a desk.I'm guessing that the concept is a printer doesn't need to have a home; rather, you easily take it to where it needs to be.HP's Sprocket App is very slick, with easy controls and no problems with the set-up process - if you can even call it that. It connects to your device via Bluetooth, which is like heaven compared to the hassle of going through a router for an inkjet printer. There are some incredibly neat tricks on offer such as the rechargeable battery, the lack of ink cartridges (which leads to a lot of money being saved), the speed of printing and the simple fact that compile a photo album entirely at home. The only drawback of the product - which I did suspect - is the quality of the printing itself. Definition is fine, but colours in particular can be inconsistent with what you see on the screen. How much of an impact this has depends entirely on what kind of look you're going for; a low-fi aesthetic can actually be quite fun, but then there's no ability to replicate beautiful tones in real. That's where more expensive printers enter the fray.Is Sprocket worth your time? If photography is something that you're passionate about then I would absolutely recommend it based on the interesting prints, though I do think it's a shady of HP to use promotional images with such professional-looking results...

This is an amazing little rechargeable portable printer that allows you to make your selfies and quick snaps into tangible prints which have a peel off back; you can stick them down or put in frames. We've owned the orignial, smaller pocket-sized spocket for a while and loved using it, so the bigger version was a welcome addition. You can see both sprockets on my pic and get some idea of the difference between the two devices and sizes of the pictures they produce. This version, the plus, is thinner but bigger and produces 5.8 x 8.7cm photos that are some 30% bigger.than those produced by the smaller sprocket. Both devices come with an app that allows you to edit the pics and add fun effects and then send to the printer from your phone or any other bluetooth device.Set up is quick and simple and it holds a charge well and the photos come out quickly and with no need for drying.I'd say the advantage of the sprocket plus over the original is that the pictures are a more practical size. There's something very satisfying about printing off your tangible photos, especially on the go. It's true that the colours are not always that true to the original - but I think that's missing the point - what makes this a great product is the portability and immediacy, perfect for the selfie generation. The plus is less pocket size but it's still very transportable. It's probably worth getting a case to avoid scratches in bag or pocket. Paper will cost you about 60p a print - so fairly good value. The only downside I can find for this is that the photos curl after printing over time, but as you can see below you can put them in a frame and they can also be stuck down.Overall this is a fun item that's an excellent gift for a teenager in my opinion - simple to use and has been loved by everyone who has seen it - really like it.

We got our teenage daughter one of the original-size HP Sprocket printers for Christmas last year, and she absolutely loved it -- it churned out surprisingly good-quality photographs in not much time at all, and although the photo paper wasn't particularly cheap, it's had a lot of use and we've all enjoyed it.This Sprocket Plus printer is a definite upgrade in terms of photo size, if nothing else. The one moan about the original Sprocket was that the photos were small; with the Plus printer, whilst still not the size one would put into a proper photo album, they are perfectly acceptable, and much better to look at as a result. The colour isn't as good as one would get from printing on a full-size photo printer, but it's still quite good -- and there's a lot to be said for pressing a button on a camera, and seeing the results printed out within seconds (well, a minute or so). After all, there's a reason why Polaroid cameras were so popular.A good upgrade to the original, and one that has gone down really well in our household. Five stars.

This is a fantastic little gadget for all age groups - but particularly for teens and young adults perhaps. It's a teeny, tiny, pocket-sized printer that you can connect to the pictures on your phone, via the Sprocket app. This is easy to install and use. You view your photos in the app and can add text and graphics to them and play around with them in all kinds of way if you wish. or you can just print as they are.Just load the printer with paper and send the photos to print from the app - it's that easy. No ink required - all you'll need to do is replenish the paper and it's not cheap so just use with your favourite snaps! The paper provided is in sticker form so when you print out your snaps you can stick them into an album or onto autograph books or whatever you like.A fantastic idea if you're going to Florida is to get a character autograph on one page and stick the photo of the character onto the facing page. This is a brilliant item.

We have bought this pocket printer for our daughter. It comes with USB charging cable and 10 self adhesive photo papers. Once it's charged it's ready to be used. All you have to do is download HP app from the appstore which is easy to use. Selected photo went through instantly and it takes around 30 to 40 seconds to print one image. Main reason we have bought this printer was for advertised augmented reality where you can point your phone at the printed image and it will start playing short movie. Unfortunately HP decided in March 2020 to remove this option. I can't stress enough how dissatisfied we are with this as I could not find any reason why it was removed or why it is not advertised as being removed when buying this product.Overall it does good job. Images are looking very good but don't expect professional images.

I love this little thing, maybe a little too much!! As some have said the colour accuracy leaves a bit to be desired but i feel that misses the point. These devices aren't meant to print pictures that are going to be framed and scrutinised. I use mine for casual, fun pictures when out and about and diary additions. Add a diary entry....add a little pic. See a person you like the look of in the street, sneakily take their pic and then stick in on their back when they aren't looking......instant STALKER Royalty!!!

I rather like this printer. The sticky back photos are ideal for scrapbooking and that is the use to which this has been put. We have made use of it both to document a child's achievements for a school project and for notes on other areas. The bluetooth works every time; the printer is small and portable; the image quality is acceptable without being astounding; excellent. The paper is not cheap, but you'd hardly use this for printing hundreds of copies.

Have had this on pre order for a week, really wasn’t sure when it would arrive, then had a message from amazon yesterday (27/02/18) and here I am writing a review, really is a great piece of kit, print quality is amazing lots of great adds to put on the picture, love the bigger size as well and the fact I can peel the back and use them as stickers, only reason I gave this four stars is the price really, but it’s a new model so I’m sure it will come down

So delighted with this gift for my husband I bought a second one for son-in-law. For the size of the picture thought quality was good. Picture fits neatly into wallet and grandchildren like the sticky back for projects.
