Honor 8X (4gb Ram, 64gb) BlackChanged to this from iPhone 8 and wow.. I cannot for the life of me imagine spending silly money on a phone again when this 8x is so good.Phone comes with charger and micro USB cable, screen protector already applied, transparent silicon cover and fm antenna earphones as the phone has fm radio.64gb storage model comes with around 54gb free as firmware takes up approx 10gbThe screen is amazing, max brightness is very very bright and pixel density of 396 ppi really shows itself, very clear crisp images and text. Colours are vibrant and sharp. Video plays really nicely and apps like Netflix even allow picture in picture modeBattery life is ridiculous, 3750 mah battery, twice the capacity of my iPhone 8, charges quickly considering not usb c fast charging as it is micro USB but still charges quickly and boy does it retain charge well even under heavy use and screen on time, I'm blown away by the battery life, easily get two full days out of 90% (I don't charge my phone past 90% or let it go below 30%)The phone is actually very slim and light, way lighter than I was expecting especially considering the large battery. Lovely in the hand and definitely not too big (6.5 inch screen) after coming from iPhone 8 (4.8 inch screen) but the body of the phone is not huge and I'm average size in the hand department and its absolutely fineBuild quality feels excellent and second to none, very solid feel with no loose sounding areas and overall a very premium feeling phone with glass back and no plastic materialsUsing the phone is a joy, very fast in every sense. General screen navigation and app use is immediate, no lag and genuinely fast phone to use. The phone restart is very quick, easy quicker than my iPhone 8. 4gb ram really shows and I can't see how a phone could be faster to useFinger print scanner on the rear is not only perfectly placed but is immediate and not once in 4 days has it not registered my finger. Lovely tactile feel to it and lovely haptic feedback tooFace recognition unlock is also very fast and accurate and amazingly so even in very low light, takes seconds to set upThe buttons on the phone feel perfectly placed with only the sim tray on the left (room for two active sims and a micro sd card for more storage) there is a power /sleep button on the right below the volume up /down button. Both buttons feel perfectly placed and lovely to use, just a perfect feel and travel to themThe wifi/bluetooth/data connections are all flawless and blazingly fast e.g. Google searches, Web browsing, downloadingNo annoying Bixby type functions, just standard home screen and configurable additional screens with the usual widget and app options that android bringsSound quality from the single speaker is very good and loud, really don't understand how people have criticised this with the 8x, it's very good when watching you tube or Netflix content.Sound quality from the 3mm head phone jack is also very good and second to none, no issues. The phone actually comes with earphones also with fm radio antenna as there is a built in fm radio app, another bonus!Overall I cannot recommend this phone highly enough and I am a tech geek who has always had iPhone and ios. For £220 it is an absolute bargain and should really be priced a hell of a lot higher.

Big screen, great battery life, great camera, and a good price, however coming from a Samsung S5 phone I have a few things to say;The first thing about this phone is that the control buttons at the bottom for going back and the task manager are reversed compared to the Samsung S5. If you are right handed like me this may be an issue for you too because I have to uncomfortably over-extend my thumb in order to go back or use my other hand.I often catch the other control buttons (home and task manager) while trying to press the back button, and sometimes while typing on the keyboard. I think the areas the control buttons 'take up' are a bit too big, but I suppose that could just be my fat fingers, and not being used to the phone yet.The second thing about this phone is that it takes a very short time of holding the home button (middle button) before the assistant app opens. For some people that will not be a bad thing, but for me personally I have to consciously make sure I do not hold the home button for more than about half a second which is just annoying. Again it seems the buttons are bit too big/oversensitive for my tastes, but this is subjective as some people like this. You can, of course, turn the assistant off completely within the settings menus which means that this is a non-issue if you don't want the assistant at all.The final and probably most important thing that I will say about this phone is that the speakers (the ones used for ringtones, notifications, music, and voice calls) are of really poor quality. The speakers are far too tinny sounding and have no bass at all.At the higher volume settings (over 3/4 of the bar) the speakers begin to clip and just sound horrible. I rarely use my phone for playing music out loud, but my ringtones, message notifications, and whenever I use the speakerphone on a voice call always sound awful especially when compared to my old Samsung S5.In conclusion this phone is great for the price, but the speakers are very disappointing and drag the score down.

I LOVE my new phone! After owning a 4.6" flagship compact for several years, I have small hands and was wary about changing to a much larger phone. I was also worried about spending over £500 and the chance I would drop the device and damage it. However I went for it after doing lots of research into flagship models of other suppliers at much more expensive cost of 899 and and also one of its sister models at 399 currently. I am super impressed with the ability of the honour 8X and I'm so glad I did not pay more on a contract instead the features I'm most impressed with is how fast the device is how the battery lasts for 2 days with lots of use, including watching several hours of video and many hours of Spotify use daily. As a photographer and now a dance and good camera was important to me. It is allowed me to photograph my dancers for social media and record high quality video of the choreography we learn in class.I have also been impressed with the fingerprint sensor it adapts fast and also the face recognition so much so that I have set it on lots of apps on my phone such as, outlook and Facebook as it opens quickly but adds extra security I have tested the recognition that I checking that it cannot open using several of my friends faces.I have had my phone a week and would highly recommend it. Save yourself hundreds, book a holiday!.... with the money you have saved and go take some great photos on your Honor 8X whilst you're there!Enjoy ?

I love almost everything about this phone; from the battery life to the price, this device cannot be beaten for price-to-performance.The built-in software working brilliantly with lots of easy customisation (what you come to expect from Android). The device design is slick with it's all screen glass display (except the notch). The front-facing camera is a little strange at times with odd colour shifting (possibly a software glitch), but the rear camera is great, given good lighting. The phone manages to load and run apps at a similar speed to the Galaxy S8+ (which my brother owns), which for the price is almost too good to be true. However, you may notice a slight build up of dust in the crevices of the device over time, primarily caused by the lack of water/dust resistance. Also, the finger print reader can be somewhat temperamental to set up and fails to recognise my index finger around 10% of the time (your experience may vary). If this is a problem, you can also use the face recognition feature which is even faster at unlocking the phone, if you prefer.Despite the minor floors of this phone, you would struggle to find another phone of a similar build quality and processing power. Thanks to this, I also bought my mum one :)

After Microsoft killed off their phones I was left lost as I wasn't sure what to get as my Microsoft 640XL was on the frits and crashing left and right. I first got the Nokia 3.1 however after 6 days I returned it becuase it was the worst phone I ever had. I love Nokia and have had their phones for the last 20 years, but i could literally watch the power drain when everything was turned off even in airplane mode. i sent a text and it dropped 2% and the heat generated by the phone was dangerous! ( I will never own an Apple product, not even If it was given to me)So a coworker had an Honor phone so I thought id give this a try, I'm blown away with how powerful this phone is,how great the battery life is and super easy to use. It does everything I want it to and coming from Microsoft as much as I loved my phone I was always sad by the limitations of the apps. Now I can get all the latest's apps for nearly all my home products and sync everything in my life.I'm still figuring everything out, its very complicated compared to what I use to use but at the moment I have no regrets! Also the phone comes with a screen protector and case already in the packaging and I didn't even know this! (maybe I should have read the listing better)

I've been using this phone for a few weeks now, and I'm very impressed. Phone is quick and responsive, plenty of RAM and storage for the average user, battery life is excellent, I easily get over a full day of medium - heavy use and still have a decent amount of charge. Camera is good, there are better cameras out there obviously, but at this price range its a solid contender, the AI function can be useful in some photos but not all, I am usually able to adjust the settings and get a decent photo. Night photos are a bit grainy, but reasonable. One gripe is the bloatware - there are several games and Huawei apps installed by default, however you can uninstall these easily.Fingerprint scanner works well and screen size and clarity is excellent for a phone at this price range. I would have preferred USB C rather than the micro USB connection fitted, but its not a major issue. Comes with a factory fitted screen protector and a case so you are ready to go straight out the box. I don't see how you could justify spending up to 5 times the price of this phone on the latest top model Samsung or I-phone, as despite being 5 times the price, I don't see how they are 5 times better. Amazing phone for the price and would highly recommend.

Have used this phone for 4 days and I cannot give it any fault. For the price this phone is incredible and its a real shame about the ban from the USA as Google does not work that well however, the rear view camera takes amazing pictures, especially in portrait mode and I am contemplating whether to sell my SLR. Facial recognition is good but probably needs fine tuning as it does not work well when I am wearing my glasses but the phone is very light an smooth. It will be a difficult transition from the Cat S60 which, I did love to the core due to line of work I am in, but the honor is well worth the switch. Another plus point is the battery which lasts longer than average on medium usage however, like most phones the location services option will drain the battery considerably. I noticed this on the first day using Google music with and without location services. After a few hours it dropped a few percent, compared to switched it where it dropped almost by 5 times that amount. For £200 this is a very decent phone which I question what the iPhone and Samsung can offer me more for an extra £500, That's equivalent to a holiday to mainland Europe.

I've had Motorola, Nokia, Sony, (Not smartphones of course), Timmy, Blackberry, Oneplus, Samsung (S7 edge the most recent), so I can compare from experience. The best operating system by far was Blackberry, but they blew it big time. Even then BBM left Wotsapp standing, but I cry over spilled milk!Of the Android smartphones, with which it has now to be compared, my comments are :-WOW, throw away the overpriced 'top branded' ones and get an Huawei/Honor! This phone is a dual sim expandable storage acephone! There was no bloatware or adware on my phone. Though of course there are company apps to keep the phone updated and running well, etc. (i.e. only useful apps). It never falters or 'skips a beat'.Unbeatable.No wonder the USA is keen to stop this winning Chinese Company from beating the others. (It still is).

Brilliant phone! The camera is the main reason why I chose this phone as I take lots of pictures, I am not disappointed, the quality is fantastic and I've even been able to use some of the pictures on my website. The keyboard isn't the most accurate, you have to have pretty nimble fingers for this, however once you get your head round tar aspect it's actually not to bad really. It has an excellent memory and can run a fair few apps, equally I have music, over 1000 photos and 2 books stored and it is still running smoothly. Weight wise it is easy to carry, size wise it is comfortable however I would consider one of those mobile phone holder things which go on the back. Over all I highly recommend this phone,it is a game changer for the lower end of the midrange market.

I am impressed with the Honor 8X as smart phone. It is quick and responsive with good screen. All the 3rd Party reviews that I read before I decided to buy gave it excellent ratings. However it was all about camera, video, battery life etc not one mention of how good it was to make and receive calls.I am sure that it does make/receive calls but the 108 page user manual that I downloaded gave chapter and verse. However not one page on how to answer a call ?So onto the crunch.. What will happen now that Google has proposed to stop Huawei/Honor using The Android operating system. Our phones could be useless .I wonder if Amazon will allow customers who have recently purchased these smart phones to return for a full refund as they are no longer "fit for purpose "

Bought it by the end of last year at what appeared to be cheap price for a 'super spec' mobile. So I've taken my time to get the full feel before this review.Nice 2k display screen with one of the biggest size in the market. Like the default ring tone too; two tones for the two sim cards, in fact. Camera shots are super clear and so the video recordings. The system didn't like 'Outlook' during the set up but budged in the end. With fingerprint log in, 6.5" 2k screen, 20MP camera, double sim, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage this Honour brand from Huawei is a monster of a phone.I've been using Samsung while others in the family had iPhones. Now I feel like having the upper hand with this no nonsense hand kit.

I brought this in the week of release and its been top notch ever since. The battery lasts me average 3 days with normal use. The camera is best without the AI but that maybe me getting used to it. Have 2 4G sims and all seems ok so far.Having the gel case is a real bonus as you dont have to buy a case straight away if you're happy with the supplied one. Screen saver factory fitted.Have removed a few of the default apps which i dont need. There is one app that should have been installed as a default and thats a call recorder, other Chinese phones i've had [also Alcatel] have this included.Anyway early days yet but hopefully all be ok.

Good phone, great for the price! Fingerprint scanner has been perfect most of the time, but it has dropped off occasionally and will take a few goes. I am not a fan of face recognition features, so I've disabled them, but they work really well if that's your cup of tea.Battery life is fantastic, best smart phone I've owned by quite a stretch in that department. All in all it's a great bit of kit, never slow or limited in any way really. Kind of wish it would run Fortnite because it certainly has the specs and capabilities, but when I actually think about it I would barely be on it anyway.

I've had a LOT of Chinese clones, all of which did a good job for me, but this is a cut above - everything you could possibly want in a smartphone for £250. There is a review site which actually rates this above an iPhone S. It's made by Huawei and they are already doing some serious damage to the big names. The camera MAY not compete with the blue-chip phones when it comes to lab tests but who cares? I don't feel I have compromised on quality or performance in ANY way by choosing this phone. I think anyone who pays any more than this for a phone is profoundly stupid...Go get it!

16.1.2019

Over the years I've had various phones, my favourite being the wonderful Huawei Nexus 6p, so buying this was a gamble. Oh boy, for me it was like stepping from now into the future. I won't bore you with how big and beautiful it is, but more of what it can do. As mentioned by other reviewers, I would strongly recommend downloading the official Honor user manual. I didn't know you could have a lock screen button on the screen instead of wearing out the power button every time you want to turn it off, and also there's a secret chamber where you can store things. Brilliant!!!!!!!
