Going to try and be conprehensive here! For Honor is, it’s a brilliant fighting game. If assassin's Creed and Call of Duty had a love child this would be it! I was lucky to play the beta version and had great fun! I've been looking for game to play on weekends and occasionally evenings!Ultimately, it is a game of duels, with opponents circling each other, waiting for an opening where they can launch a barrage of savage sword swipes or maybe cleave some flesh off with an axe. Blocking and attacking, the foundations of these fights, are directional, so you can block or strike left, right or from above. Conveniently, there’s an indicator that shows the enemy’s directional position: white at rest, red when an attack is coming.Complicating matters are the rest of the moves – parries, dodges, guard breaks, counters and special abilities that let you heal or put down traps. Perfecting their timing is hard enough in a relaxed tutorial, and even more challenging when you’re fighting a proper battle, surrounded by enemies. Yet it consistently feels satisfying, even when you manage to utterly mess things up. Every assault feels weighty and powerful, and the combatants largely react realistically, stumbling, staggering and the like when faced with an onslaught.Extreme aggression is encouraged, and you really want to efficiently dispatch your enemy before another foe shows up to throw a spanner in the works, but a stamina meter adds another wrinkle, forcing you to occasionally pull back and create some breathing room. When your stamina is drained, all the colour bleeds out of the world and your warrior’s breath becomes ragged. While you can still fight, your actions are so slow that you’re just asking for trouble. That’s when backing off or pushing an opponent away becomes imperative, while also providing a brief moment to reevaluate your tactics.During the beta, it’s been fun to simply get the measure of an opponent. Each class has its own style, some favouring speed, others preferring to kill quickly with heavy blows. Gear also makes a difference, as weapons and armour that you get as loot or purchase with the in-game currency, steel, all come with different stats.Love this game already and It’s everything I was hoping it would be - close combat minus the COD snipers and map-know-it-alls. I work long hours and unfortunately have got the abundance of time to be playing cod and knowing the ins and outs like i used to.I am however a bit concerned with rest of the rest of the game. The multiplayer modes are… not great. They feel like the bare minimum required for multiplayer, absent of any real invention. Take Dominion, for instance: a half-arsed MOBA facsimile in which two teams of four fight over imposing fortresses while hordes of NPCs duke it out over a central area. But unlike a MOBA, there are no towers or keeps, just three capture points that can be lost and reclaimed in a matter of seconds. The most disappointing thing about Dominion is that it doesn’t remotely attempt to have any fun with its premise. You’re trying to conquer or defend a fortress, but each side is doing exactly the same thing. There aren’t really defenders or attackers, and there’s certainly no siege mechanics.Smaller-scale conflicts are considerably more fun. Elimination removes capture points and NPCs, while also placing each player right opposite an opponent, ensuring that one-on-one duels start immediately. Sure, you’ll still get people running away to join their buddies in team battles, but most of the time that doesn’t happen. Everything good about Elimination, however, like all of the modes, is purely down to the combat.Despite my concerns, I’m still enjoying myself. A lot. I’ve been dressing up my main Samurai dude – there’s plenty of customisation options – and I must confess that I forget about most of my worries whenever I find myself in a desperate dance of death with a wily opponent. I just pray that Ubisoft sort out the game’s matchmaking, which during the beta has generally been poor. We’ll see soon.

First of all, I've been following this game since it was announced and I per-ordered it like many other games and can honestly say I was a bit nervous about getting it. Only because some hyped games dont deliver.PresentationRight from the intro you know this is going to be good, the overall game presents itself very well and doesn't seem to cut any corners. The interfaces through the game are well done, sometimes a bit hard to find things so take a good look around :-) Everything is presented well and doesn't feel like they rushed anything.Graphics\SoundGraphics are excellent, including all cut-scenes and in game attention to detail and the atmosphere is stunning. The 3D models and overall game provide a great level of detail and run at a good frame rate. Animation has weigh which is quite rare these days and characters move extremely well , and the combat is pretty much perfect. Cannot find any flaws other than the odd glitch with the Armour collision but this is very petty. Audio, right from the intro sets the tone extremely well and in game sounds are suitable for this type of game.GameplayThis is a 3rd Person combat game, the controls feel very much like a relaxed beat-em up and you soon learn this is not a button basher. Controls are based around defending or attacking from 3 points of your aspect along with the ability to bash someone too. Verious combos exist that can be used in combat. Each of the characters present different capabilities throughout so you need to think a bit and enjoy it as its rare a game provides such complexity and also allows you to just whack away until you find your own approach. You will get owned quite easily if you just jump in against someone well versed, but one important aspect is you only succeed if you work together. There are 3 single player campaigns, each with great cut scenes and variety lasting about 30 missions overall, you can play online co-op and vs modes and the 1v1 duels remind you how complex the combat is but equally how accessible it is. It rewards you for fighting well, in a world flooded with spawn, fight, die, spawn, fight, die this stands head and shoulders above that approach of mindless game play, so it's refreshing to find a game that I can play through instinct.SummaryIn an industry that constantly releases the same crap and provides gamers with mainly FPS, or 3D Action Adventure games this game stands out as a mix between a beat em up and Gears of War and something else. It's faster and more forgiving than Dark souls and provides us with an extremely intense hack and slash games that has more layers than an onion. It's refreshing, atmospheric and challenging. It's equally funny and gory. Overall I can only advise you buy it as there aren't many games out there that actually make you feel nervous playing......tension like this exists in no other game and for that alone, it's a success and worthy of attention. Love it ! NOW FIX THE ONLINE LACK OF DEDICATED SERVERS AS THATS THE ONLY DRAWBACK.

A difficult game for me to review as I'm not actually sure if I will stick with it yet. First and foremost the combat system is excellent, it is as close to a sword fighting sim as you will get and as a lover of those epic sword fighting films like Braveheart, Troy and even the TV show Game of Thrones this really ticks those boxes for me. I must stress that this really is a difficult combat system to master and will be very punishing to those simply looking for a pick up and play type of experience which ultimately I do look for in games due to life commitments. The storyline in this game is really quite generic and does feel like it has been quickly put together to make the campaign feel less like a tutorial for multiplayer.Don't get me wrong I understand that it's meant to be showing you the ropes and getting you adjusted to every fighter but I feel like they could have accomplished all of this and still made a thoughtful epic campaign which could stand on its own feet. The lesson here is do not pick this up if you are looking for a single player experience. The multiplayer is where you will be spending most of your time and the real pull for me is the Tekken like mode called duel. No distractions just you versus another fighter in 1v2 or 2v2. It really feels like a couple of legendary warriors facing off with each other I cannot fault that mode although I do wish the surroundings were a bit more varied and less dull. The flagship mode for the game is called dominion where it's essentially 4v4 of battlefield conquest where you need to capture locations. For me it just turns into one big giant mess, the minions who you can kill in one hit just become a distraction and worse of all it usually ends up being multiple players fighting you if you have a weak link in your team, and honestly you really have no chance then. Maybe it's because I'm not very good but I really do hope they can somehow improve that mode as it has potential.Overall I think it's one of those slow burning games which require plenty of time and patience to eventually reap the rewards and you will eventually get a very satisfying experience and I've no doubt it will spean it's very own hard-core fanbase. I'd love to see two masterful players go head to head, this will definitely come in to esports.

I Bought this game the other day and I find it difficult to play because there is so many buttons to remember. While the concept of playing as one of these cool ancient warriors is exciting, I only wish the game play was just that much simpler. Here are some negatives:1, While playing through story mode as a Knight it does get annoying when you can't figure where you have to go.2, Your fellow soldiers getting in your way is also annoying, especially when you want to kill a enemy hero.3, NO HORSES in Knight story mode.4, Trying to throw an enemy off a bridge while storming a castle but he just laid in thin air not falling at all.5, Too many buttons which makes it frustrating6,You have to be like lightning to press the right button to enable execution of you opponent.7, I paid £46 from GAME, and I don't think its worth that at all.Now the good side:1, Good stories and 3 of them.2, when you do time the button right, the executions are satisfying.3, Lots to do, Dominion matches are great fun, lots of outfits, weapons etc.4, Visually good but that is to be expected right?5 Despite some flaws, multiplayer playing Dominion is great fun and addictive. So in conclusion, I would wait for the price to drop or buy it second hand (I am sure there will be many available soon), I bought this game because I like Knights and Samurais( I mean lets face it who doesn't?) and the many outfit customizations and weapons you can unlock while ranking up make your struggles worth it I suppose.I am hoping this game will grow on me more so I am going to keep it.Do not get this game if you get frustrated easily. But once you master the controls with patience and practice this game is awesome. Thanks for reading.

If ‘vikings vs knights vs samurai’ sounds like the formula for a comedy game, rest assured that Ubisoft’s trademark deadly seriousness is all present and correct. Hilariously, an opening cinematic even tries to justify the conceit in an entirely straight-faced way. Something about an eternal war arranged by an evil ladyknight, though I didn’t take in all the details because oh for God’s sakes. All that matters is you get to choose to be a viking, a knight or a samurai and then you go sword/axefight a whole load of enemies from across those factions. This being 2016, there’s a heavy focus on unlocks, both in terms of skills and equipment and purely aesthetic stuff such as helmets, tats and even how the shaft of your weapon looks. You can spend in-game cash earned from fighting and levelling up on random packs of unlocks, and I’ll go tell a real-life viking that he’s got girls’ hair if there isn’t ultimately some option to do this with real human money too. In any case: a move from guns to blades does not involve a move away from the tropes of a modern multiplayer game, but admittedly armour and melee weapons are a whole lot more fun to tweak from a visual point of view than fatigues and machineguns. As for the fighting, inevitably we’re not in reticulesas any more. This is a game about timing and blocking, not aiming. The idea For Honor’s come up with is that you can hold your weapon in one of three directions – left, right, above – in order both to block which angle you think an attack is coming from, and to ensure your own hit connects rather than bounces right off the enemy’s blade with yer classic clang or donk sound effect.Read full review...

It's a game soaked in adrenaline and testosterone, it smells sweat, blood and dirt and every other type of human stench that a battlefield most possibly would smell. It's filthy, at times I even felt bad for playing it (maybe I've grown old and I've softened when it comes to violent games).I remember being a child or a teenager, always designing the "perfect action game" in my head. It always involved swordfights, ok mainly placed in ancient historical battles (e.g. persian wars, phalanxes and loyal to actual historical facts, gear and way of fighting), immersive as a real battle experience, but I also always fancied the idea of a free deathmatch game where players, instead of shooting each other with laser guns or M16s, used actual steel and technique on man-to-man fights. Then we got Chivalry which I loved to pieces. And later, For Honor was announced. And it looked cool. Well here it is, perfectly delivered, it was a long wait but it was well worth it in my opinion. Insane graphics? check. Savagery? check. Game modes? check. When I had those "game designs" in my head about swordfighting games, the biggest challenge was the battle mechanics and how it would be a game of skill instead of rapid button rampage. The controls have been well designed but they do need getting used to as it's an unusual battle system for most multiplayer/arena gamers who are used to crosshair shooting.I've only completed 3 hours in the game and so far I'm really happy with it. I haven't seen any need for microtransactions but I can tell it's still quite early.

now what can I say other than just pure fun played both the story and campaign and couldn't get enough. The combat system is enjoyable and gives you the sense of reacting to the principles of sword play. The story is simple but something you keep playing as you want to know the reason for things being the way they are.The classes and characters you play have all thier own strengths and weaknesses against another class. It's all about learning to choose your moments when to strike and puts you in the sense of danger. The graphics are amazing as well as the frame rate but ubisoft are always on form with this in most of the games they produce.Movement from the characters are all based on class and are fluent physical obstructions such as if your too close to a wall or your opponent strikes will hit the wall leaving you to master the parry and find your way out. There are three races to choose from which are vikings, Knights and samurai all of which are fun to play but I must admit I do love the samurai. All have 4 classes to choose and all have unique ways of fighting. From the use of daggers all the way to broad swords and battle axes. There is one thing that I could Deem to be a flaw and that is the need have constant connection with the Internet. While this isn't a problem if you do have connection it begs the question if Playstation network was down then this game wouldn't work.so I would give this 8/10 overall it would be a 9 but the constant Internet connection is what let's it down.

As usually, I ignored all the pretentious hate surrounding this game and enjoyed it for what it is - a brilliant, action packed, violent slash ‘em up game with great mechanics and stunning graphics. The Truth- The story mode is really great, following the knights, vikings and samurai over about 5 battles each. I have happily re-played several times on several difficulties and had a blast. I’ve probably spent about 15 blissful hours violently beheading people on the battlefield.- The game mechanics and battle violence are brilliant and i haven’t seen anything similar since Ryse: Son of Rome, which received similar hate despite being a fantastic launch game at the time.- Looks astoundingly beautiful on PS4 Pro,especially the gore.- The multiplayer servers are undoubtedly an issue, with annoying dropouts and load times, i’ve experienced nothing worse than Rainbox Six Siege though, and recent updates on the servers have fixed it up considerably. But again, there’s a lot more value to the game than just whining about the servers when there’s a whole campaign to play. For Fans OfRyse: Son Of Rome, Dynasty Warriors, Shadow Of Mordor, Assassins CreedDon’t believe all the negativity, for £20 odd pound, it’s worth it for the head crushing, fire bombing, slashing violence and gore of the campaign alone.

Now I love this game but hey they really need to name this game "NO HONOR" because there literally isn't any. The gameplay is an intense rock paper siccsors layout and to be honest it works really nicely, the graphics are stunning, the gameplay is solid. Story is a little bland but it's a nice edition I deffo recommended playing it with a female character to get that nice narration. Online matchmaking is complete balls you'll be lucky to ever find a equal match, they need some manner of using gear level and pre selecting characters before this is even fair on newbies however when you go on no gear games such as 2v2 or 1v1 you'll probably just find yourself being throw of an edge then taunted to death.I love this game to bits but honestly the lack of honor frustrates me and most days after a game or two I'm so infuriated that I don't want to play it anymore and ill end up going up against bots which are either too hard or too easy, I also fear they're going to nerf and buff characters via stats much like they do for siege which will probably kill the game. Another main thing to mention is it's peer to peer connection so expect lag switching on PC and maybe even console occasionally, lots of drop outs etc. This game has so much portential but I feel it's going to be wasted. Hope I helped

This game is the first in a while to get me excited! There are multiple online modes including dominion, death match and duel 1v1. You have to learn how to play as this isnt a button basher. Learn all the moves for your character and level up the weapons. The assortment of characters and weapons is great as well as perks for each. If you jump from character to character you wont level up enough to be competitive so stay with one for a while. The maps are really good with variations of each relating to the three factions - viking map are damp/snowy while Samurai ones are green and humid. They also change from night to day giving a totally different atmosphere. The controls are a steep learning curve, you have to decide when to attack and when to defend and not to overuse your energy or you will die quickly..Overall this game is a lot of fun and if you take the time to learn it, its very rewarding. Doing a compo ending in an execution is very satisfying. There are a couple of negative reviews but as a gamer for the last 4 decades I cant recommend this game without question.

Just got this game and liking it so far. It's going to take time to settle in but I feel it will be something I will play a lot.I must say I was surprised that not only was the voiceover female, which I hardly really noticed to be honest, but the character I'm playing in the first part of the campaign is also female. This came as a bit of a surprise to me. I don't remember being given the choice to chose the gender of my character so I will go along with the makers plot for now and see how it pans out. But really! I hope when I meet some big opposition I'm not wearing the skin of a women and hammering them with the arms and strength of a man as that would be ludicrous (taking into account the fury anger and rage only a testosterone fuelled opposition can call on).I will see how it goes but I can only suspend so much of my disbelief that that will work as an idea.I like games that allow me to chose gender, be it woman, man or alien; and colour, be it green, blue black or pink. And anyway why have gender and colour become so important in games? Can we not just play?

Decent game to playmajority of people saying its bad is because people seem to spam the same combo online once you get around that they tend to rage quit most of the timeheavy on micro transactions with buying steel (upgrades items and buys new items) they have made it so you will be playing awhile to get various of stuffyou can get a 10 day bonus exp with amazon prime/twitchprime account link until march 4th or something..campaign id say is an average , a lot easier with a friend if you plan on tackling the hardest difficultythe game online itself is filled with either people running round in circles gaining a cheap way of EXP or people who go on youtube and find the cheapest way of winningwhich is a repeat of spamming stun then hit.overall its a fun game and a lot better if theres a group of you so you can communicate.Gameplay - 7Story - 5Multiplayer - solo - 4- with friends - 8

I bought the gold edition, which really isn't worth the price but the game has only just come out so there is room for improvement. The fighting system is excellent and requires time and patience. If you want a game where you button bash and kill loads of enemies, this is not the game for you. Get shadow of mordor that'll tickle your taste buds.It can be repetitive and it's a game where the riches can get ahead of others but yet again if you're patient and practice against Ai before jumping straight in, you'll get used to it and you'll stand a better chance against other players. I started on 1v1's and 2v2's which a few people say that's where the hardcore players go but it's not really in my opinion. It give you a better chance to concentrate and try different moves without 4 men and women beating you down lol

Positives:- Fun combat, all dlc is free, micro transactions are cosmetic only and can be earned through in-game currency. There seems to be some confusion on gear stats, which can be in theory be "brought" to give you an "advantage" however you can earn these pieces of gear through playing the game, and this also only effects the 4v4 modes which are in my personal opinion are the casual modes. This game is built for 1v1 and 2v2 combat, and in these modes gear stats are turned off!Negatives:- I dropped a star because it requires always online, which even though does not effect me will cause issues for others. Also the game lacks to a certain extent content, unless you really enjoy the in-depth combat and learning the ins and outs of the game then maybe hold off till later when more free content will be released.

To be honest I would gove this game a 4.5 star review. Reason being, this game is very good and you can tell Ubisoft Montreal have spent a long time making the mechanics for each character perfect but there are still some minor actions which they need to fix. Therefore people that get angry/easily annoyed at online games then you might get 'extremely' frustrated at the minor faults. Apart from that, the multiplayer and the way the factions work with the territory's is fantastic. It is extremely addictive because winning means you can contribute to your faction. (You can still contribute to your faction for losing but not as much as winning.)Really hope this game takes of and makes to MGL.Cheers Ubisoft
