I have been looking for one for over a year and I looked at the reviews and all the YouTube videos before I decided which smart thermostat i would like the nest is good but cost more and my daughter has the nest and loves it but I went for the hive and I decided to install it myself and I was worried at first but once I got it and looked at the instructions it was very easy to set up and with me having a combi boiler I only had 4 wires to connect if it for heating and water I think it's 6 wires and as long as you have the manual for your old thermostat or download it you should be fine some control unit have the wiring instructions on the back of the unit which helps hive even give you labels

I bought this for two main reasons. Firstly, I live alone and was getting annoyed with the heating being on a timer as I don’t always come home at the same time each day. Secondly, I had to remember to switch the timer back from a 6am start at the weekend, which I hardly ever do.Hive eliminates both these issues.My Dad (a retired electrician) installed it for me with no stressThe hive app is so easy to use. The scheduling function is brilliant and I easily boost it using my Apple Watch

we only had an old mechanical clock on our boiler and it packed up,bought another and that also packed up,i reviewed a couple of different wireless thermostats and decided on the hive,i looked on u tube to see if i would be able to install it myself and it looked easy enough, so i had a go,only took about half an hour,had a bit of trouble getting it to work on the app but managed it and it works great,i would recommend it to anyone looking for a better way to control your boiler

Prior to installing the Hive my house was generally either too hot or cold but now with this clever little system it always feels comfortable. The ability to set multiple schedule times and temps is a great addition over my previous thermostat, so fairly sure it will provide £'s saving in the long term. From opening the box to having it up and running took about an hour, with a tea break, so don't be afraid to tackle the install yourself if you have a basic electrical knowledge.

This Hive thermostat is a brilliant product I installed it myself without a great deal of trouble. I had to run a new 5 core cable from my combi boiler to the receiver which wasn't too difficult to do. I then had to disable the internal timer by cutting and connecting the 2 black wires leaving it connected to the PCB. I then connected up to Wi-Fi and everything started to communicate with each other and the heating is now controlled from the Hive thermostat which is ingenious.

I debated buying one for a while, thinking its just my inner nerd that wants one. Anyway I bit the bullet and bought it! install of the control unit was a piece of cake, maybe I was lucky but I removed my old control panel and it clipped right on!!! setting it all up online is a bit of a pain, you have to go online and register your devices with the code issued in the box and it took about 20 mins for it all to sync up. also bizarrely we are using much less gas than before.

Any tech savvy home owner would not want to miss out the Hive. Connect your Hive thermostat and lights via a smart hub and set up the app on your smartphone so that you can set temperature of your home remotely. You can schedule lights being turned on or off remotely too, handy if you have gone and left your lights on! Its great for security too as there is a mimic option for the lights when you go away for a long weekend, makes it look like you are home. 5 stars in my book

For ages I wasted my time with a Center brand wireless stat that kept losing its signal between the boiler and the stat. The hive was easy to wire in. Easy to set up and use on the smart phone. Now it works fantastic. I should have bought one to start with! Just beware each hive hub can only be registered once and not transferred, so ensure you only buy a sealed brand new one, or you won’t be able to register to use remote access and other features.Read full review...

Replaced a Drayton wireless system, backplates the same so a simple swap-out process. Took longer to get system activated by phoning the Hive help-desk. Wiring instruction s a little ambiguous so could be confusing for a novice. Very handy being able to remotely turn heating on/off, think this should cover cost in a fairly short time. New unit looks very good as well. Modem connection must be direct to router, will not work with mains networking system.

The Hive System is brilliant, and when linked to Alexa is quite amazing. Well done British Gas for developing a product that is simple to use, works effectively, and also has been designed to look stylish.I would recommend the Hive to anyone with an old thermostat/controller on their combi boiler. I am a Heating Engineer and have installed these in a number of client's properties, and my own as well.Everyone is delighted with Hive.

Extremely simple to install and setup..... bought original for parents to change heating from comfort of their arm chair but worked so well I bought one for myself and recommend to anyone who wants the ease and flexibility of adjusting the heating as and when, boosting for a certain amount of time or just simply follow the schedule. Brucey bonus is the other smart home kit you can add when you like such as lights and sockets.

Been wanting to purchase Hive active heating for quite a while but for one reason or another I haven't. Saw this on offer and thought why not?! Best decision I've made. I got a professional to install which was straight forward and away it went. Obviously it won't get fully used for a few months yet so time will tell on the full benefits of it but I can only imagine it will be great. Highly recommended product.

Fairly easy to setup and control.Has a very weird habit of turning the heating on and off every few minutes though. Not Good.It seems this a serious issue with Hive thermostats that's not been addressed by the manufacturer.The forums, Hives own included, are full of this issue and as yet, still no remedy. It sees that it's to do with the stupidly tight hysteresis of the stat.

cancelled order when I saw description of item,said it had hot water option for system with separate water tank, as it was delivered anyway I collected from pickup point and found it was single channel receiver suitable for combi boiler which I wanted so have kept the item ,fitted to combi boiler and working well,website description needs to be accurate.
