This bottle came as a gift box package which does mean the bottle doesnt get delivered just loose, so the only real advantage of this is if you was buying it as a present for someone. Personally it is not worth buying the gift box version if it is more expensive as the box is nothing special and I would rather have the bottle on display than the box. Upon opening the bottle is and feels premium which is as expected, upon tasting the dark copper coloured cognac neat it is pleasantly smooth and I could taste and liked the vanilla, oak and even a small amount of cinnamon. Cinnamon is not one of my favourites but it is subtle enough to not be overpowering.Hennessy also encourage you to use this spirit in cocktails or even with a dash of water also, there are several recipes included on this website. I havent tried any of these yet but plan to do so as I dont normally have cheaper cognacs in the house (like I do vodka for when mixing). This being a premium drink has the price reflected when compared to its competitors like Remy Martin, Martell etc but it is a premium drink and if you can afford it even for a change it is recommended to get a bottle and you may find yourself re-purchasing at a later date.

This arrived in a colourful branded ridged box with the bottle secured at the top with a card insert. I am familiar with Hennessy V.S.O.P as it is a Cognac blend I drink on occasion so was pleased to try this out.The bottle is a simple but classic and easily recognisable design with a traditional cork stopper rather than the rubber ones now often used, or even screw top on lesser brands, the stopper has a foil seal which is easily removed with a pull tab. After opening it up I tried some without ice or mixer, I normally drink Cognac over ice or sometimes in a coffee, the aroma (nose) is quite sweet with the a fruit mix coming through, I like the mix and the taste is not as sweet as the aroma would suggest, the fruit breaks through well with a vanilla hint, there is a spice flavour to it but very muted. The consistency is nice and smooth and I find it is broken up well or more complimented when over ice as I normally drink it.Overall I am really enjoyed it and have since had it as I normally do over ice and in a night time coffee, it is not a heavy Cognac and I find it easy drinking and certainly warming, I can’t really fault it as I find it delivers a great taste so have given top marks.

This version of this Hennessey V.S.O.P. (Privilege) Cognac arrived attractively boxed which is a theme that is continued in the elegantly designed bottle.Although I am normally a Bourbon drinker, I was interested to try this premium cognac. The colour struck me as being on the lighter side. The taste is deliciously smooth without too much ”alcohol burn”, there's a clear taste of dark fruits like plum and cherry with a hint of spice. This Privilege version of the cognac is noticeably more refined than a basic version. I personally love the taste and feel you discover new subtitles all the time.I’d prefer to drink a cognac of this calibre with just a little ice or neat.I think the refinement and subtlety of the flavour could be lost in a cocktail for which I’d use a more run of the mill cognac.Overall, this is a noticeably more refined and interesting cognac which, IMHO, justifies its higher than “mainstream” price and it’s very moreish too!

An interesting drink so to say. Available in a nice-looking gift box, and an even nicer bottle, so I gave it to my mother with the intention to share around. Having not tried a cognac before, I found the experience a little startling. All in all, it's a very warm drink with a slight fruity taste, though the burn is quite strong- of which reminded me of drinking hand sanitizer. On its own it serves a powerful drink though in a cocktail it may be quite good! I haven't managed to try it in any of the cocktails shown in the product description, but with some locally produced Lovage, it wasn't as fearsome as the initial taste test!A drink that possibly isn't for me, and would make a very expensive experiment for another to try,but I'm sure many others with a good taste in cognac will find interest in this drink.

This bottle of Hennessy V.S.O.P Privilège Cognac arrived in a striking black, orange and gold box, and would make an attractive gift for someone special. The designation V.S.O.P (which stands for Very Superior Old Pale) indicates that the Cognac has been aged for at least four years, though in this case the blended ingredients are between four and 15 years old.Upon pouring the brandy, the first aroma is of honey and oak, followed by a hint of vanilla custard coming to the fore. The taste is cold with alcohol and very smooth on the palate, with hints of muscatel, aniseed and brown sugar giving way to a fruity flavour like sultanas, with a final sharpness. Hennessy V.S.O.P is V nice, provided you can afford it.

This came nicely packaged in a presentation box and it would make a nice looking gift. The bottle looks classy as well. It has a nice rich dark golden colour. It has an attractive smell that makes you want to try it. The taste though is of a really good rich quality cognac. It has a delicate array of flavours and it is so smooth. This is not cheap. It is perhaps expensive for what it is but you get what you pay for. This is a top quality cognac and one of the best I have tried. Early days yet, but it might become one of my favourites (if I can afford it!). If you like cognac, my guess is you will be impressed with this one.

I have tried Cognac before, but this Hennessy V.S.O.P tastes much better and very smooth. There is a taste of a bit fruity, and I like that taste of spice is mild. It comes in a nice box, which makes it very much giftable, but it's a bit expensive, though.I like the dark golden colour, and the smell is fantastic when I open the bottle; also, I like that it has a cork stopper rather than a standard screw-top; it feels very premium quality. If you are not a regular drinker and can afford £48.99 ( on 12/06/2021 ), this is definitely for you.I hope this review helps you to make a purchasing decision.

It's a premium Cognac, with a fairly premium price. It comes in a gift box. So it's a fine cognac, I must say that the regular drinkers I know thought it was great until they discovered it's 50 quid. Most muttered that you could probably do better for that amount. Me, I thought it was fine as well, but I don't drink it often enough which is why I canvassed opinions. If I had been hoping the gift box would be special, I would have been disappointed. It's a glossy box with gold writing - that's it. Since that's a key selling point, along with the reception, I'm afraid I have to knock off a star.

I'm not normally a great cognac drinker - I enjoy a good quality gin. TBH, I'd always drunk cheap cognac in the past and disliked it.I got this bottle thinking of my brother as he enjoys cognac. However we shared a drink when I opened the bottle and I certainly did not hand it over but kept it to myself! It was delicious and I fell in love with this taste. In future I'll probably add water or soda but either way I'm never drinking cheap cognac again!Incidentally, I feel the same way about cheap gin!

This Hennessy came really well packaged in its own box which would make a perfect gift for someone. When poured into the glass you get a mahogany colour with light tones. The first notes I get when poured into a glass is a lovely fresh fruit one which is wonderful if this is something you enjoy – not too sweet but just right with the taste of vanilla, fruits and spices.I preferred this more in a cocktail as opposed to on its own so well worth trying both ways.5 out of 5 for me

Having sampled lots of different cognac's of varying ages this one to me has a distinct barrel flavour of that of a scotch. It has a beautiful flavour and tastes a little like you're drinking a single malt. Once it's mellowed on the pallet after a few seconds the cognac aroma and flavour develop. Smooth to drink with only a slight initial warming to the throat. Very nice with a giant spherical ice ball.

A really sensational brandy. I usually drink Martel VS Single Distillery but it's pretty much out of stock everywhere. This Hennessy is a far superior drink though. Smooth as you like and with loads of toffee notes and flavour. One for the special occasions unless you can afford more often. Mine came in a lovely box unlike other reviewers. Thoroughly recommended.

I haven't drunk brandy for a long time and never paid fifty pounds a bottle for it when I did. The question in my mind was whether this brandy was three times better than, say, a 15-pound bottle from Tesco. It's definitely superior to an ordinary brandy with a rich, full flavour and I'm very much enjoying a small glass after dinner.
