It was an Irish barman in Valencia (sic) who first alerted my wife and me to the joys of gins other than Bombay Sapphire, which at that time seemed to represent the very zenith of sophistication. Since then, we've sampled a number of other brands, chiefly via the Amazon website, and have had a great deal of pleasure into the bargain! The first gin my wife and I tasted (and it is she who is the real aficionado, incidentally) was on the recommendation of the said Irish bar owner, Gin Mare, a super premium gin produced in a small fishing village on Spain's Costa Dorada. In addition to the "traditional" botanicals juniper, bitter orange and lemon peel, cardamom and coriander, are other, less expected botanicals grown in the Mediterranean region; rosemary, thyme, basil and arbequina olives. These are apparently distilled in a custom-made still before being hand-blended to produce a gin of distinctive quality. And what quality! My wife (to whom I bow in all matters gin) reckons that this is the best gin she has ever tasted, but stresses that it is best drunk with a superior tonic water (Fever Tree is our tonic of choice). I have to say that it is absolutely delicious...and the savoury herbal elements are clearly evident when tasting "neat".

I have something of a gin habit and rather geekily score gins for both g&t and martini on a spreadsheet (I mix 1:5 with a twist of lemon, well I don't mix it myself thats what husbands are for ) . I score out of ten and I give my go to gin (Bombay London) a 5 out of 10 to act as a baseline to judge against. We score more than once so I get an idea of how they taste over different times and occasions. Please remember these scores are personal and what I like you might not.So on to Gin MareG&T 7/10Martini 6/10This Spanish gin makes a very nice Mediterranean gin. It is superb with a sprig of rosemary but also works with the more traditional garnishes in my opinion. For the martini we paired it with Noilly Pratt. It definitely isn't a classic martini but it is still. The flavours of the Mediterranean botanicals are very distinctive.I will definitely be buying Gin Mare again. It isn't particularly cheap but it is a lovely gin.

The gin was amazing. It was a present for my dad who is a big lover of gin, and he couldn't find a bad word to say about it. I had asked for next day delivery, however there was a problem with the seller getting the product to them so it was a few days late. But the seller informed me of this straight away and gave me the option of cancellation or a refund of my next day delivery fee. I had no problem waiting the extra few days as I was kept well informed of the situation. I would highly recommend this gin to anyone who enjoys a gin and tonic, it is so smooth and easy to drink that it is actually a pleasure to drink it on its own over ice and lime.Thoroughly pleased with the product and the seller.

I usually drink my gin wirh a bit of everything added (lime, lemon, orange, rosemary), which I did with my gin Mate at first. There was me thinking what was all the fuss about it didn't have any distinction about it. Then I had a glass with just a sprig of rosemary and I was hooked. All the taste of ingredients were bought to life, especially the olives. Love it. Now my bit of escapism (in the present lockdown) is sitting in the evening sun in the garden with my gin Mare and dreaming of past holidays in the Mediterranean. Bliss

First things first, I ordered lat on Friday evening, and had this delivered on at 10am on a bank holiday Sunday. Couldn't ask for more.In terms of the gin. I find it difficult to say how much I like the flavour of this gin. It's made in the Mediterranean style, and has a 'herby' taste, the Rosemary undercurrent is very subtle, but is there. Teamed with a premium tonic, either Fever Tree Indian Tonic, or Fever Tree Mediterranean Tonic, this is one of the most refreshing G&Ts I've drunk in a while.

Unbelievably smooth gin. You wouldn't normally think of the Spanish as a big player in the global gin market but this product, from the outskirts of Barcelona is a joy.Best paired with Fever Tree Mediterranean Tonic, it exudes notes of olives, rosemary and basil.Much preferred than the needlessly complex Monkey 47.This hits all the right notes and tastes a cut above the rest for a pricepoint that is not entirely ridiculous!

The gin itself is nice enough, not overly strong in flavour like some others. It has quite a long aftertaste but not unpleasant. Overall, I prefer Hendricks and Roku especially when I found the Roku ar 23 quid. They have to do something about that lid though as mine was like it was superglued on. I was on the verge of trying a set of locking pliers after damp cloths and hefty gloves failed when it suddenly opened.

Gin Mare has got to be one of my favourite of the new wave non-London dry gins. Mixed with Fever Free Tonic is perfection. One of the rare occasions when I don't add any citrus or other infusions. It's almost a savoury gin. I can only imagine those that hate the taste of Fennel will be put off. You can drink this gin neat and I would say that it can even work as a Digestif

What's this...Spanish Gin...no way...!!! Yes way...and it's absolutely gorgeous, especially when mixed with Fevertree Mediterranean Tonic Water. Gone are this cheek sucking, Juniper Bitterness flavours, replaced by a smooooooooth delicate mixture of deep exotic nasal aromas...Gone are the Bombay Sapphires, Gordons & Sipsmiths...Hola Refreshment, Hola Gin Mare... :-)

Beautiful gin in a beautiful bottle! It's a shame to throw away empty bottles like this. You can taste the green Mediterranean botanicals, especially the olives. One of the most distinctively flavoured gins I have ever tried and one of my favourites, even at £30+ a pop. Go on, give it a try, you know that you want to.

what a gin!!! I've never tasted a gin so full of flavour and with such a wonderful aroma. served it with a lemon infused olive and also a slice of lemon, loads of ice and topped up with tonic. fantastic. not the cheapest of gin, but you only pay for what you get. it would be hard to go back to a run of the mill make.

This is one of the finest gins I've tried. I'm a fan of a variety of classic British gins such as Hendricks, Tanqueray Ten and Sipsmiths, and this provides a better gin & tonic than any of them - as long as it's created properly and garnished with rosemary rather than anything citrus-y. Absolutely worth the money.

Fantastic gin — I can taste that the juniper is there, but the flavour quickly moves over to olives and especially rosemary. I don't normally drink my martinis dry, but for this one, I made an exception: 50ml Gin Mare, 12ml Noilly Prat, tiny pinch of sea salt. Stir for 45s-1m and you get a delicious martini!

This is a beautiful Gin, smooth enough to drink over ice but best served with a very good tonic and a slice of lemon. We had a bit of a drama with delivery but amazon were brilliant and had it sorted out very quickly. I would recommend this to any gin lover, we will be purchasing another bottle very soon.

Bought this as a wildcard gin for a small gin tasting event we were holding... everyone agreed it was the best of the lot. A unique taste but still identifiable as gin... works well with standard tonic and even better with fever tree Mediterranean tonic and a sprig of rosemary. Definitely recommended!
