Didn't have high hopes when I bought these but I thought I should try as the alternatives were not appealing. I had snapped the head off a bolt on a Rover v8 water pump. These extractors bite hard into the metal just like a tap and as they are chome vanadium they flex rather than snap (like the hss ones do) when you get close to their yield limit. I leant on the second smallest of these without problems and managed to get out a bolt that had cold welded itself to the aluminium block. So glad I have these in my toolbox now.
