I'm the sort of guy who has a soldering iron to my left and a microscope to my right with a computer in the middle. I'm a nerd. I also much prefer to buy quality tools as I'm sick of them breaking mid-job or worse (like a torque wrench) failing in a manner which damages other parts.This kit is actually well positioned for people like me who have bought so many screwdriver sets we have duplicate bits everywhere. This has the stuff you're unlikely to have.The iFixit designed tools are actually pretty good.The bits have been under my microscope and I must say are exceptionally poorly finished. These are good for casual, home gamer use only. If you're planning on using these regularly, look elsewhere.On the surface, they look fine and with careful, occasional use will serve you well. The screwdriver body feels really shoddy and I wouldn't trust it at all for more than again, occasional use. It's a shame the bits don't fit in my other screwdrivers. Is it gonna break on you? Nah, probably not if you're the target market which is the person who buys this kit to do a singular job cheaper than the cost of paying someone to do it and wants the potential to do similar jobs in the future. They might dig this out once a year. If you're looking for a daily use tool kit, look elsewhere.4 stars because I think for the target market this isn't bad at all. It'll do the occasional job and the tolerances on the bits look fine. If you're used to decent quality tools, this is not for you and if you're planning on regular use, I'd look elsewhere.

My MacBook pro was driving me mad, every time I ran anything that used some CPU the kernel_task process would jump up and start stealing all off the processor. I tried all sorts, SMC reset, PRAM reset, removing extensions etc.Then I read somewhere that it could be caused by dust in the fans so I ordered this toolkit and a can of compressed air to see if it helped.After watching a YouTube video on how to open up the case I got to work with the toolkit. It had exactly the right screwdriver bit to fit the screws in the back of the case and the plectrums and sucker were essential to get the back off without damaging it.The case was full of dust and the fans were very clogged up,after some careful blasts of the compressed air and gentle reassembly I fired it up and it was like being given a new MacBook - I was able to run 240 tracks of a channel strip plugin without audio breakup in Ableton where previously I could only run 32!If I had carried out the above without this toolkit then I would almost certainly have damaged the MacBook in the process so in my view it's essential for Apple laptop owners.

Super happy with these, needed to get inside an imac pro which this set enabled easily, and needed to replace a 16 inch screen on another laptop, which thanks to the various prying tools was a breeze.The bits are easy to get in and out of the case and into the driver, everything can just be pressed slightly at one end, popping up the other to enable a quick removal, but all stay solidly in place until you've done that. Everything except the spudgers seem to be magnetic so it's easy to remove fiddly screws, and flipping the case lid upside down conveniently provides a number of spots to keep screws separate and in a layout that matches the positions you took them from.Just be careful when you pickup the case,if you claw grip only the top, you may lose the other half, as it's only held on magnetically. Just strong enough to lift up the toolset but not necessarily to keep it there. Make sure you grab it so that it can't come apart.Brilliant little kit and a great price.

I used this kit to upgrade my laptop drive, it doesn't look much but it has the perfect tools for the job. All the screwdriver bits were excellent and presented in a hard foam casing, very easy to see and remove. All the blue plastic openers are perfect to get the back off the laptop and flick up the ribbon connectors inside the PC. I actually purchased a second kit to ensure I had everything I might need. This one though proved to be more than adequate for replacing a HDD with a SSD drive in a HP Envy 360 laptop. The case has a strong magnet top and comes with a cardboard carry sleeve. It looks like a well designed and well thought out presented product.I would definitely look for another iFixit product if I needed more bits or a larger kit. Very good value for money.

After seeing these tools promoted on YouTube on Linus Tech Tips and seeing many favourable reviews, I decided to take the plunge and pony up for this set. Compared to the disappointing experience with a no name set of tools, these are much better. The tiny Y000 bit is still going strong after many uses. To be honest even if it only lasts 6 months it is still wayyy better than what I’ve used so far. And you can order individual bits directly from iFixit too. The handle is a comfortable size. The suction cup is capable. The tweezers are nice and accurate too. Definitely money well spent.

This kit was perfect for upgrading my Mac Mini 2018 space gray model. I followed the ifixit videos with got the job done. You do need steady hands. I removed any static electricity in my hands by rubbing them on my home radiator.Watch out for the fragile antenna cable and the fan power cord. As long as you take care, you’ll be fine.I’ve upgraded two Mac Mini units with 32GB RAM in each using the kit and now I’m fully confident. Take your time and don’t rush anything.NOTE: DEFINITELY WATCH THE TUTORIAL VIDEO A FEW TIMES FIRST BEFORE ACTUALLY OPERATING ON YOUR MACHINE!

Used for a screen and battery replacement on iPhone 7 Plus. The box set has all the tools required for the task. All the tools are good quality and they will definitely last forever. I hope that IfixIt will produce expansion packs for future phones. Also I love the lid because it can be used as a screws organiser. Being organised is the most important part of this DIY. Just follow the instructions on their website and read all the reviews which will give you very important additional tips and have fun.

I have used this multiple times, taking apart a laptop, building a desktop PC etc. Its a pretty solid kit, it has everything that I have needed. The only issues I've had is that a couple of the 'guitar pick things' (I forget what they are called) have snapped when I haven't been putting much force on them.I liked this kit and would recomend it, however I would consider shopping around for the best price for an electronics tool kit as there are a lot out there, and iFixit is by no means the cheapest.

High quality kit. As a mechanical engineer I am picky when it comes to tool quality. These are perfect for the job of simple repairs and component replacement. Used this to open a MacBook Pro and replace the SSD. It made short work of it and I was impressed with the attention to detail of the entire kit. Thoughtful design, with high quality manufacturing. I would highly recommend and will definitely buy iFix tools for anything else I need and isn't covered by this kit.

I have opened and repaired a few things with this set.Replaced the thermal paste on my MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and my Brother's AuorusReplaced the Battery on my iPhone SESwapped screens, front camera and speaker, Light sensor and digitiser between my 5s and SE(1st gen)Even replaced an LCD screen and backlight of my girlfriend's digital Sony Camera.And indispensable tool for tech enthusiasts and tinkerers. Worth every penny.

Cracked open Dell laptop for battery change. Worked perfectly. Good basic range of tools to jobs properly. Credit cards are good for opening tight fitting cases but are better used to buy this kit. We'll made good selection in a tidy container but little expensive but if you need it you must have it. Any more expensive and I'd buy just one for all friends and family to use but at this price you can buy your own.

I have had lots of these cheaper type products before but I have to say this iFixit stuff is amazing. The quilty of everything including the box the things are stored in. The only downside its hard to see what type of head as its only inprinted on the foam inside and it could do with being white so its easy to make out.Would recommend to anyone who needs a quality bit of kit

I purchased this kit specifically for the torx heads to upgrade the RAM on my Mac Mini. Turns out this little set is almost perfect for everything. I say almost perfect, because it doesn’t have the right size Tri-wing for older Nintendo stuff. So for an all rounder kit, go with iFixits more expensive and larger sets. The quality of the box, heads and tools are perfect.

Just upgraded the ram and SSD configuration of my XPS 9700 using these and it was a joy all the way through. More tools than I will probably ever need but nice to have different prying tools as well. Would recommend to just get the bigger pro set even still as you will otherwise have to buy the grounding wristband and mat on the side, as this is not included here.

This is a great product. All of the bits are very high quality and the screwdriver holder is extremely comfortable. It's a hoy to use after years of barely cheaper but far inferior tools.I've used to replace the battery/screen on my phone, replace the screen and battery on my laptop and as part of various odd jobs. Genuinely worth every penny.
