My 6 year old Thomas mad son absolutely loved this and would it give it five stars. It drops a star from me because I just think it's too overpriced for what you get. If you can get it on a good deal then go for it! Comes nicely packaged in a box and easy to open. I assembled it with instructions in about 10 minutes. No fiddly parts or ties to unsnap. The components are loose in the box. The instructions do warn you that assembly is a one time only and the parts click together permanently but don't be alarmed you can't make a mistake. Even without the pictural instructions it's easy to work out what goes where. The best bit is that it doesn't need batteries! Big whoop.Once assembled it can be played with straight away. It comes with a Thomas train but we found it also works with most of the small trains in the same TakenPlay range. You plunge the handle and the snake heads rises up and deposits Thomas at the top to go round again. This amused my son for ages. It has one fold up track which only makes the whole structure only slight 'foldable'. I'm not sure you can really describe it as fold and play. I does fit together with other Take N Play tracks which my son really enjoyed.

Thomas & Friends Take-n-Play Rattling Railsss. This toy is nice and easy to assemble - the pieces just clip together and no batteries or screw drivers are needed. The snakes head is quite easy to take off which my daughter has done numerous times. There are no small parts which makes it safe for children aged 3 plus. The smallest part is the coiled up snake which is about 2cm by 3cms and doesn't really do anything. The toy itself doesn't do a great deal - you put Thomas in the snakes mouth and press the snakes tail ( the hook at the top of the brown pole), this moves the snakes head up and deposits Thomas at the top where he then rides down the track and back into the snakes mouth. The procedure is then repeated again and again..........As other reviewers have pointed out not the most interesting of toys and can become a little repeatative. However my daughter is enjoying playing with this toy which is after all what we buy our Children toys for. This is more of a fun toy but not much educational value

Well packaged in a large box, with Thomas on view in a clear plastic bubble, this elicits excitement on sight. Inside are the various components that will ideally need adult supervision for successful assembly, which takes but a few minutes. The toy was really well received and caused considerable excitement and provided much pleasurable play. The toy functions reasonable well, by the operator needs to be fairly slick in order to catch Thomas after release at the top of the slide - maybe there is a challenge there for the young controller. The snake head has a tendency to come off during play, and I wonder how long the clips that retain it will last.My real concern, which of course applies to most of these action-specific toys is their limited use; it performs the one task and has limited scope for the child to use his imagination. A fact born out by the time spent with such toys compared with that spent simply inventing games just with Thomas and friends.

This is a cute little "take along set" from Fisher Price. My grandson played off and on most of the day with this. I think the initial attraction was the snake theme - he spent ages putting Thomas into the head of the snake and trying (not always successfully) to manoeuvre the tail of the snake and drop him off the the top of the spiral track. The tail is also the handle which enables the little ones to carry the set around. The set doesn't seem to fold terribly well so I think this is better as a stay at home piece. The die cast metal snake and Thomas the Tank engine are included, it seems a well made set that you do not need to hunt for batteries for.As with most Fisher Price toys this relies on a child's imagination to get the most from the set,and I have no hesitation in recommending as my own children had hours of fun with Fisher Price toys such as this when they were young.

This is a good quality fun toy. As you would expect for this kind of item, it is made well and comes presented in a nice box.It is not exactly a big set and in my opinion is nothing on the wooden sets, but it is still a nice modern train set accessory. The major issue that I can see with this is that, being so small it is quite limited in its 'fun value'. I would expect most children to tire of this pretty quickly if used as a toy by itself. I suppose in that sense you could make it a pretty huge set however by buying the other pieces, but this could lead to it becoming pretty expensive.I would prefer the wooden set for my children, but this is a nice little toy that would make a nice gift/addition to a child into the Thomas series.

This is a colourful well made toy and, rare nowadays, does not need batteries. It snaps together in no time and works fairly well although I found the serpents jaw was a bit slow in closing at first so Thomas tended to just scoot out of the mouth after he came down the ramp. On its own it is fascinating for a time but then has limited appeal without adding more track which is readily available. With my grandson it's got to be either Peter Rabbit or Thomas the Tank Engine and when his initial interest wanes I suspect I will have to buy more track to recapture his enthusiasm.

This was a birthday present for my 2 year old and he really does love it. He has a large wooden train table set so was worried thay he may not play with these sets but he does play with them and now he has quite a few take n play sets - this is a favourite in the top 3. It is a simple concept but he loves trying all the different trains to see which ones work the best and adding the other sets to make a big adventure park for Thomas and his friends! Older children may find it boring after 5 minutes.

Loads of fun, this train set works brilliantly as Thomas shoots down the track then is snatched up again and taken to the top of the ride.It took some careful reading of the instructions to identify each piece but after that I could assemble it in a few minutes,The six year old has had lots of fun making sure the snake is there to catch Thomas at the bottom of the track. We haven't even tried to connect it to the rest of the track yet as he's having fun with it by itself.

Mattel (Fisher Price) quality shines through here. Good quality plastic (polymer). Good tolerances and fit. It takes about 5 minutes with the language-less instruction sheet to assemble this from about 10 parts - press fit only, no screws. Our (nearly) 3 year old loved it. Easy to use - push down and the Thomas the Tank Engine model is propelled upwards by the snake back to the start of the 'fairground ride'. Simple but effectiveWell recommended.

This is a great starter piece for a kid who loves Thomas. The set is easy to click together and it is lightweight. You get a Thomas toy to use with the set. It is good fun to move the escaped snake around but really you need more pieces to get the most out of this. I plan to buy more of this for my niece as she is very taken by this toy and she will get hours of use from it.

While this is a small take and play set it can be joined to others and this proved fun for 2year olds they enjoyed pushing the tail for the train to be lifted then go back down the track to the beginning

my son loves this its basic but great to take away and clicks easily with other take a and play Thomas sets ,certainly lets my sons use his imagination and easy enough to pack away

I got this at under 10 pounds so I think it was a good deal for a Thomas set. It's easy to put together and quite fun - for a 5 year old boy. No complaints.

My son has not stopped playing with this, the more I look into the 'take and play' Thomas toys the more I realise that this was a bargain, very pleased x
