I am reviewing the 500 watt model. This is an ATX desktop supply that is 85mm (3.35”) tall x 150mm (5.91”) tall x 140mm (5.51”) deep. This compact model will fit almost all full, mid, & micro ATX cases. (This is NOT a laptop AC adapter.)The connectors are well formed and well labeled.Qty: / Type of connector / # of plugs @ approx lengthQty:1 24 Pin (20+4) ATX 19”This 20+4 style connector will fit both ATX24 pin & ATX20 pin main boards.Qty:1 EPS 8 Pin (4+4) 23”This 4+4 style connector will fit both EPS4 pin & EPS8 pin main boards.Qty:2 PCIE 8pin (6+2) 1@21” & 1@26”These 6+2 connectors will fit both PCIE6 & PCIE8 video cards.Qty:6 SATA 2@17” & 2@22” & 2@26”Qty:3 Four-Pin Peripheral 1@17” & 1@22”& 1@27"Qty:1 Floppy 31”This supply is rated at the amperage below and comes with OVP (Over Voltage Protection), UVP (Under Voltage Protection), OCP (Over Current Protection), OPP (Over Power Protection), SCP (Short Circuit Protection), and OTP (Over Temperature Protection).500watts @ 40C / 3.3v 24A / 5V 20A / +12v 40A / +5vsb 3A / -12v .3AThis supply has a large fan that auto adjusts it's speed so it is quiet under light to moderate load. Under heavy load it can get a bit noisy but no worse then any other 80+ supply I've used. This supply has an on-off switch on the rear side.My experience with this supply:Power-up time and voltages were within spec when I tested them. I ran a 12 hour burn-in test when I installed it and the supply passed with no issues. (***Update 2016: I've had this power supply for over two years, I re-ran the 12 hour stress test and the supply passed again with no issues.***)The big question:Will this supply work in your computer? The list below should help answer this question.Form factor: Is your mainboard and case ATX standard compatible?ATX is the most common standard, but others exist such as like BTX or ITX, so be sure your mainboard and case ATX compatible. This information should be available on product spec sheets or contact your computer manufacturer.Connectors: Are the connectors you need provided?Take stock of your components and make sure this supply has a connector for every component. This supply has plenty of connectors so it's unlikely you'll need more then they provide.Cable lengths: Are the cables above long enough? If you are using a full size case be sure to check the cable lengths. For instance, if your supply is mounted on the top you may not be able to reach a bottom mounted SSD without a cable extension.Watts: Can your system run on 500watts of power?Use a free online power supply calculator to check the power requirements of your system. I prefer the OuterVision Power Supply Calculator but there are many others available. As a general rule you want at least %20 more watts then your system requires.+12v Amps: Can your video card run on the Amps provided? If you are using on-board (built into the motherboard) video then this does not apply. But if you have a discrete video card check the +12v rail requirement from the card manufacturer. As a general rule you want at least %20 more Amps then your card requires.Proprietary system replacement:If the replacement is for a proprietary system (store bought pre-assembled computer) then first confirm your supply is ATX standard and then replace it with one with equal or larger wattage and amperage. Check the sticker on the side of your current supply and make sure the wattage and each rail of this supply is equal or higher. If in doubt consult with your computer manufacturer.2003 or earlier power supply replacement:Modern ATX supplies do not provide a legacy -5v connection. If your computer was made in 2003 or earlier, and still has an ISA bus, it may need this legacy -5v connection. In short, if your current supply has a white wire on the ATX connector then this supply may not work for you. If in doubt consult with your computer manufacturer. In all cases I strongly recommend testing any power supply before hooking it up to actual hardware. While defective supplies are rare, installing one could destroy any or all of your expensive components. I prefer the Coolmax LCD Power Supply Tester PS-228 (ASIN B002R06PGE) for this task but there are many good ATX power testers on the market.Overall, it's an excellent supply given the low cost (about $40).Then why four stars? The first unit I received had a bad fan and was returned. I'm pretty sure this was a fluke because since then I have installed many more and had no problems with any of them. Every manufacturer makes the occasional lemon so don't let this deter you from buying this supply. In my experience EVGA stands behind their products and honors their warranty so there's no worries here.I will buy another PSU from EVGA in the future and I do recommend them to friends.

I feel I have already gotten more than my moneys worth with this product and can can wholly recommend it at this price (Bought at £33, June '19 - Currently £50 and still advocate). The EVGA W1 600W Offers: 2 x 6+2 VGA/PCIE plugs, 2 x 3 SATA power ribbons, 1 x 3 Molex + floppy, along with 4+4 Pin and 20+4 Pin Power.I purchased this 600W power supply a year ago when my EVGA 650G died, after 4 years of service. While this power supply is a lower wattage than my previous one (a 650W Gold), I have yet to experience any crashes or blue screens due to missing power. This PSU comes with a 3 year warranty - pretty meh, but for the price i cant complain if I need to replace it after that period. While this Power supply is non modular, its low profile made it easy to install with space to stuff the extra cables if needed. After the initial setup I haven't needed to touch it since. I had some trouble fitting the CPU power in my case as it was a tight squeeze and the two halves were difficult to lock into place on my motherboard. While not holding a bronze 80+ rating it is still incredibly good and quiet under load. This power supply is barely audible ticking by despite not having an eco mode. While I don't have inline power readers to measure the power usage of my system, using software including GPU-z and HWMonitor i gauge my PC uses around 460-500W of Power under load. When I found this power supply, i was surprised by just how small it was - just an inch or so off made a huge difference in my case.An advantage in my case is the shorter size has let me properly fit another intake fan on the bottom of my PC tower (that was previously wedged in between the old PSU hard drive cage). [Fractal Design Define R4].The cables are braided, though that doesn't cover the fact that they are a spaghetti rainbow! Chiefly the 24 Pin and 6+2 Pin for the GPU which brandish their red and yellow veins rather prominently. With some clever cable management, I imagine it is possible to minimise the eye sore of the motherboard power cable. Personally I am uncomfortable bending these wires into a tight turn to get them hidden behind the motherboard tray.(I feel like a salesperson after writing this review, but I am honestly shocked at how much this little £40 PSU has to offer - when my 650G died, i searched for a while before landing on 3 options; one of which was this and I feel it has been well worth)

I have a Dell Inspiron 530 mini-tower, Core2 Quad. It's about 8 years old, but upgraded little by little. It's my workhorse.A few months ago, my system started having problems turning on. I leave it on most nights to run BOINC jobs. It could have been the few power outages every now and then, damaging the power supply. Pressing the power button sometimes would not turn on the computer. I would have to unplug the power cord for a day, then plug it back in, and try to turn it on. It was a 50/50 shot. If it didn't work, I would have to unplug and wait another day. After a couple of months, I got tired of it and did some research, which pointed to the bad power supply.I decided to try the power supply replacement. It took a little searching, but finally found out the power supply was a standard ATX size. The original power supply, Delta DPS-350VB-1A, matched a few listings in Amazon, but I didn't like a lot of the reviews for the ones that matched that model number. I decided to just look at all the replacement power supplies that were standard ATX sizes. I made up a short list, and decided on this EVGA 500W 80Plus model. (After I placed my order, I found out I could have bought the slightly better one for the same price, EVGA 500W 80Plus Bronze. Oh well). The reviews were very good, not all over the place like some other brands. I decided not to go much higher than my original 350 watts. I wasn't planning to add a new video card.Prime shipping, two days later, got my package. I removed the old PSU and connections, installed the new PSU and connections in about 10 minutes. Perfect fit. Took a minute to double check everything. Closed it up and powered up. Good as new. Time will tell, but I hope I can keep this Dell Inspiron 530 running for at least another couple of years.I like all the connections available with this model. I had installed some power splitters previously, but now not needed. The cabling is nice, wire bundles are protected nicely. Unfortunately, the mini-tower is a little cramped with these all these larger power cables. Had to do some creative winding to fit cables into some voids to keep airflow inside.Highly recommended.

My almost 9 year old PC has been having some noisy fan issues for about one year now. First I replaced the CPU fan, the noise was still there. Did a thorough pressurized air dusting of the inside of the PC cabinet and all the fan blades, still had the periodic up and down whining of the fan.Thought I had found the noise to be coming from the power supply so after much research I determined the EVGA brand to be the best replacement option.I received this new power supply just a few weeks ago so I cannot give a long term feedback on how well it performs at this time but it seems like a very solid unit with wiring that seems to be heavy duty.I had only ever replaced a power supply one time in the30+ years I have owned a computer so once I got the old unit out of the case I laid it on the side of the case and proceeded to replace the connectors one at a time rather than trying to remember all of the connections from memory. Everything went smoothly but after starting the PC back up I could not get my DVD drive to work. Seems that the power cable from the old unit had pulled off when I moved it out of it's bracket. Hooked up the new power supply cable to it and all is well. The unit is quiet and proving an extra 40W over my previous 460W unit but just as a note to anyone else with fan noise issues - replacing the power supply did not resolve my fan noise issues. Ultimately, after much more trying to narrow where the noise was coming from, I finally found it was a fan on the bottom of my graphics card. I had no idea there was a fan there and there was no indication in the original configuration of the PC. So now I have a partially rebuilt PC that should last me a few more years and this new power supply will help it get those extra years.

If your building a computer or upgrading one, this power supply should be your first option to look at. For people who are upgrading from a ordinary office computer to a more multi-tasking machine, this should be your main choice for power. In addition, if your building a budget gaming computer then this is a good start. The 3 main aspects of this product I found was that the cables are well sleeved, and the length of the cables will be great for a mid-tower gaming case. However, there are not enough molex cables for extra cooling. The cables coming out of the power supply are all well sleeved. All of the cables are sleeved so as to keep everything organized and to keep everything grounded to keep electricity in check. In addition, if you plan on using this power supply in a new PC case, then any mid-tower gaming case will be perfect for this PSU. I have not tried it on a tall tower case so I cannot base my thoughts on that. I use a Corsair Spec 02 Mid-Tower case for my machine and all the cables went through to there destinations without any problems. However, if you plan on installing extra fans for cooling then you MIGHT get dissapointed. Unless your motherboard has a lot of 3 pin connectors, you will use molex connectors as a second option. But there are only 3 molex cables in this PSU which, if you are crazy about cooling, will not be enough for you. You can connect a splitter to one of the molex cables to connect two things in one spot, but this will lower the power voltage to each of the things connected therefore slowing your fans down. In the end, this power supply works great for a demanding computer. Wether you are upgrading or building, you should look into this PSU to see if its right for you.

Just got this as a replacement, for my Gateway DX-487-UB17 works flawlessly, very quiet has every connection needs plus, So far it works great as designed and better than the OEM. I will update it if I have any problems. UPDATE: 8/14/2016 OK so initially I purchased this item because I thought I had a defective PS unit for my LEMON GATEWAY DX-4870-UB-17 no it turns out Gateway sold my a lemon and the motherboard seized exactly 1 year 1 month latter as you can see they only give you 1 year warranty please if you are purchasing a computer from anywhere you need to purchase an extended warranty to protect your purchase as you can see I just lost 600.00.I was able to get a loan from a friend and Purchased a new Desktop model #Acer Aspire TC-605 and installed this P/S unit in before I ever turned on this new PC and I am so happy I did this power supply has done wonders I can add more memory an graphics card and not worry about under powering or a faulty P/S. Bottom line mostly all Computer Desktops are under powered and some will cause a short and fry your Hard drive, or Video card etc a faulty P/S can cause lots of damage as per my case into further inspection it turns out the Gateway Desktop P/S that came inside the unit stock shorted out my motherboard. so it's either a new motherboard around $300.00 or spend $200.00 more and have a new desktop for me it was a no brainier as I could always mess with the gateway brick.Hope I have helped you. "O" Sorry almost forgot to mention the best warranty I have ever dealt with is from Square Trade right here on AMAZON.com, very easy very cheap do some research it pays to have a warranty, thanks for reading my review.

I was looking for a cheap PSU from a reputable brand to complete a build with some left over spare parts from a recent upgrade. Although there are cheaper 500W PSUs out there they are from uncommon brand names and most of them have terrible reviews and reliability - the phrase 'buy cheap buy twice' comes to mind!EVGA PSUs seem to be really good quality and their aftercare support is second to none. The 3 year warranty on this model also offers some extra piece of mind too.The PSU is well built and is finished in black. The cables are not modular but they are sleeved in black nylon which slightly disguises the renowned cable colours of red, orange and yellow ;)They were long enough for a Fractal Design XL case which is fairly large although you might struggle with anything larger. It does have the standard 8 pin CPU cable but does not include the additional 4 pin CPU cable for higher TDP CPUs. You should probably be looking at a better PSU if you need that connection on your motherboard. This PSU was easily able to handle a constant 400W to the computer for several hours when the CPU, GPU and fans were all under full load during a stability stress test. Although rated for 500W you really don't want to be running it too close to that, it is a limit after all, and not a target! I would not recommend using this PSU for dual graphics cards especially as there is also only 1x PCI-E cable with a 6 pin and 6+2 pin plug. It's also fairly silent in operation which is always a bonus.Great PSU for the money and very happy with it. Highly recommended

I've used EVGA 500 W1 to replace the original PSU of a Dell Studio XPS 9000/435T that I bought in September 2009. The machine had started to freeze randomly while in use for quite some time and then, in the weeks prior to replacing the PSU, it failed at startup (freeze or reboot on its own, a couple of blue screens) almost every time - sometimes during BIOS startup, sometimes during OS loading, sometimes while/after logging in. Interestingly enough, lately, once past the startup angst (as rarely as it happened), it then seemed to run just fine. So much so that I had started to keep it on for days. With a fairly new HDD and memory and no reasonable software cause found,I went with the hunch that my aging PSU might be a good explanation for what I was experiencing. Someone else had a similar experience and a PSU replacement had a positive outcome.I have it for a couple of weeks now and I'm super happy with it. I turn the computer off every night and restart it every morning and it runs 12-16 hours every day and didn't see any glitch whatsoever. I should note that I needed to make a small adaptation to the case so that all four screws could be used to secure the PSU in place (which, btw, is slightly smaller than the original - no complaint there). Two of the four screw holes fit perfectly. For one of the other two I needed to make a new hole in the case and for the other I needed to "nudge" it a little so that it would properly overlap with the one on the new PSU.

As I was building a new PC naturally I needed a new power supply and of course since my last build things have moved on including the cost which, for a name brand power supply is quite a bit more than the last time I did a build. Thus I searched high and low with the main emphasis being on high quality and a name brand to go with it. I'm not into rebuilding computers all the time like some people.I arrived at this which appears to have the right balance of power, price, quality and sound level for my needs.First off this is not a modular unit which many people want despite the far higher price. As the PC I built was going in a desktop unit for doing Photoshop tasks not playing games with a PC lit up like Blackpool in winter I was not bothered about reducing the wiring loom.I simply cable tied off the unused supplies and put them to one side.In use it's silent. I mean really, really quiet. I can hardly hear it going even when I put my ear to the PC case. Happy wife and a big tick in the box marked 'VG.'Power is plenty for my PC. In fact a bit more than I need which, helps keep things cool and under control. I'm not one for pushing the limits as I prefer reliability over absolute performance.Build quality appears to be excellent with solid feel to this supply. Unless I'm unlucky I expect long service from this bit of kit.Overall, a quality item at tolerable price.

Decided to start my adventure into PC gaming and as with everything, you have to start somewhere.I was gifted an old Radeon HD5850 gpu to uprate from the Nvidia GE Force GT705 that came as standard on my pc. Not going to be playing 4k anytime soon, but in order to jump in graphics? You have to jump your power. 300w as a standard psu wasn't nearly enough to make the grade and after much research, I happened upon the EVGA 600W PSU. Tad daunting at first, trying to work out where the cables went but as I unplugged one section, the new section went in immediately.Basically, I couldn't be happier right now. Very simple to follow the instructions that come with it,I don't get any coil whine as some of the reviews have said can happen. It was a sealed unit so brand new and not a refurbed model. I genuinely can't tell the difference in noise output, if anything I'd say it's quieter than the dell unit that I've removed.Enough SATA cables for those who are packing weapons grade gaming towers so no issues there. Luckily I did have some cable ties, as there was a lot of extra cables laying around but the tower isn't windowed so not too fussed at the moment. It does state to have the fan unit pointing down, and to be fair, it makes sense.Pro's:Easy to install for first timersQuietAll the cables you're ever likely to needCon's:Wish i'd made the jump sooner!

This is one great budget PSU for heavy load. Bought one with 600W mark. Price gap between them is so small that buying 430W doesn't make any sense. You can probably run 2 GPU's on i7 without any issues. Theoretically, 12V rails are marked just below 600w, 80% of that is around 500 watts. so 2 GPU's each one at 200 watts would ran on it without any issues, theoretically. GTX 1080 is using less than 200 watts each so if anybody can test this PSU on i7 with doubled 1080 I would love to read that review to know for the future being.PSU box came completely sealed so this was brand new one.Now cables. All rails are shielded with protective coat. You get two separate rails for SATA drives. One rail for MOLEX.Also, there is 4+4 rail for CPU power. One rail for GPU 6+2 pin BUT doubled, so you can use 2 GPU's out of the box without cable adapters. This PSU probably can handle it. And theres one for Motherboard ofcourse. PSU is very heavy and cables are long enough for large cases. All details you can find on PSU webpage. And for the end, the only thing I didn't like is "Made in China", hence the lower price. I would suggest doing some tests during first week just to see if it's capable of running as expected. I will test it more to see noise levels and heat while operating at 50% load max. Will update review if any issues arise but for now working as expected.

When looking for a power supply you have to be extremely careful, keep in mind all the other components of you PC are on the other end and if anything goes wrong it all goes bang together (usually quite spectacularly). So when i decided to buy this EVGA 500w i had my fingers crossed. It arrived on time and the packaging like with most computer components these days was fairly flashy. With that out of the way upon unboxing you'll find the power supply itself and some documentation, i would call the packaging as "good enough" but nothing fancy. My initial intention was to install the power supply in my bitfenix prodigy m case but to my dismay it wouldn't fit in the bracket!this was due to the metal shroud being slightly too thick and giving clearance issues. so after this mishap i ended up installing it in another case and all is well.Pros:Looks nice and simplisticNot too loudAmple cable lengthPlenty of connectorsCons:Might not fit in all cases (especially a small form factor)Overall the power supply is serving me well and i really like the clean aesthetic it has, my only gripe and work of caution would to be to look out for clearance issues, check online to see if anyone has used the power supply in your case just to be sure before you buy. But on the plus its reliable and gives you 500 watts of headroom for your next PC Project.

I just installed this PSU and I have no clue on anything on how to manage wires and what wires do what etc. and I say for a learning experience this was great! I have a pre-built pc (ASUS TUF Gaming PC) and it is a decent starter PC but the case is not the best on this pc you're looking for upgrading parts other than a GPU and RAM. I had to uninstall the HDD to get to the PSU which took me a while to figure out because the screws were under the PC I put the new PSU in attached the necessary cables put my HDD back in and.. huge problem.. the cables that attach into HDD's SSD's etc. seems a little bigger than need be. My old PSU had a smaller less longer cable which worked great with the case I got,but with about an hour of fiddling around and thinking of ideas, i put the cable into my HDD, rescrewed the HDD back onto the case and the cable was now bent at around a 25 degree angle, it looks very scuffed and this is because my case is not the best of cases, minimal spacing etc. Overall I got everything to work, no noises, no scraping, HDD works, everything is fine. It seems like a great upgrade from my 300W PSU but hopefully this will last me a while longer, 200W+ extra W's should be good right? I bought this to upgrade my GPU from a Gtx 1050 to a Gtx 1660 super. Thanks.

The fan in my old psu was making quite a noise so the choice came down as to whether to just replace the whole desktop or replace the power unit. I've replaced fans and added disks in the past, so I decided to have a crack at installing this rather nicely packaged beast. As to why this make and model, I read in a few places that this is a good make, that it is was similar to the existing one in that it is non-modular and the same wattage.I went at this rather carefully and slowly, and I must admit it took me more time to remove do all the planning and take the old one out than it did to add the new one! I did make a silly mistake, however,in that I installed it fan side up whereas the accompanying document says put it in fan-side down if you have a vent below the case. But that was easily rectified. The cabling is of much better quality than the one replaced and easy to fit. (Fittings to the motherboard, two sata drives, an ssd, a graphics card and two dvd drives were really strightforward. A liberal use of cable ties then seemed essential to stop all the spare cables rattling about in the case. There's a little noise from the new fan, but well within my expectations given the price of the unit.Hopefully it will last me a few years!

As any PC builder will tell you, NEVER buy a CHEAP PSU, it can be a very expensive mistake!EVGA is a big name in the PC world, supplying Power Supplies and Graphics cards mainly so they are a name you can trust! They have a first class warranty (should you ever need it) and their customer service is excellent. The PSU delivers the power it says it will, quietly and efficiently and of course reliably! The connections are vast, 8 pin CPU, 24 PIN, PCIe for your GPU (2 of them) as well as a couple of molex and a wealth of Sata plugs too!Build quality is perfect, there is a definite weight to the PSU and the fan is hardly audible!500w was all i needed but there are smaller wattages available as well as larger ones! Its standard ATX size so in a desktop case its a standard replacement of the old unit, unplug all cables from PSU that connect to the motherboard and devices, undo 4 screws at the back but make sure you check your case hasnt got a retaining clip inside (Dell and HP are amongst the culprits here) remove, slot in the new one, tighten 4 screws then re insert all the plugs you require! Power on and job done!!If my review helped, please hit the Helped button!
