Compared to woolen filter media roll this is night and day difference.The only issue I have is that they could give you 2 blue ones and 3 white ones as according to instructions white have to be replaced every 4 months if I remember correctly. Will buy new ones obviously as they're very effective ( first time I used all new media my water turned from yellow into crystal blue in 2 weeks).It's definately worth buying media from same company as your external filter.

The filter system is very good, everything fits well and is easy to replace. My worry is that in this day and age we shouldn't be throwing away plastics (like these filter pads) on a regular basis. I've had success in soaking the old pads in biological detergent to get them clean but getting rid of all traces of detergent on the old pads is difficult and quite time consuming (lots of soaking and water changes).

Use this stuff all the time since the last 3 years,Had no probs with it,It does a good job holding all the fish and food waste,

Perfect fit for my filter although it would be better if it had another coarse sponge as there was only 1.
