a totally different dragonball game ,better game story as the dragonball sagas past is being changed by an unknown enemy so all of gokus enemies are victorious instead of the other way around, all of gokus enemies appear with red eyes and a dark purple aura around them due to the change ,you create your own dragonball character after shenron grants trunks' wish ,your created character will be one of these 5 classes ,majin (male or female) ,saiyan (male or female) ,earthling (male or female) ,namekian or frieza race ,each class has different abitities then your created character travels to the past to try and fix all the changes ,excellent graphics with realistic details and your created charactercan gain experience from fights to become stronger and much more.this game is not easy to play first time round as the game has an insane difficulty even playing the first saga of the game ,your created character does get stronger the more attributes you gain so it does make it a bit easier ,you will have to rely on repeating earlier stages that you have passed to level up enough to try and pass the later stages unless you are highly skilled and dont need to do that.the annoying online servers are back aswell like in battle of z ,most of the time it cancels and sends you back to the main menu for no apparent reason or the gameplay slows down so hopefully this will be corrected sometime down the line.any stage that has the world tournament is almost unplayable due to the framerate problems of the ps3 version ,this only happens when you have more than 1 player on your team.the rate that a skill drops on parallel quests is by far the most irritating part of the game ,this also goes for the ultimate finishes also part of the parallel quests ,for some strange reason the developer thought of just randominly letting you get it instead of being skilled at the game ,in my opinion this can make this part of the game very boring as it can take many hours or days to obtain what you need/want.online provides you with a single lobby which has your created character and other online players characters and a multi lobby which is the same but everyones created characters including your own can interact with each other but unfortunately the framerate can slow down on the multi lobby due to all the players being on at the one time ,there are offline and online parallel side quests where you can obtain items for your created character provided you complete the quest ,these quests also let you play as any dragonball characters provided you unlock them in the story mode ,dragonball characters that you unlock through story mode gives you no notification that its been unlocked ,there is also other online matches 1 vs 1 ,2 vs 2 and 3 vs 3 ,endless battles and also an online world tournament but that isnt currently open at the moment for some reasonmost people say its completely unplayable ,THIS IS NOT TRUE ,the game is still 100% playable except for the world tournament stage as i mentioned earlier which can be a bit of a pain with more than 1 player at a time ,people tend to exaggerate with the framerate slowness but a ton of people are STILL playing the ps3 version online as as far as i can see more and more different people are joining online so dont let other people put you off from buying it ,overall this is still one of the best dragonball game iv seen and is a must buy for any fighting game fan dragonball or not.TIP to collect the 7 dragonballs you can only collect them on a parallel quest ,you need to defeat a time patroller ,i done the 3rd quest as its by far the easiest ,beat krillin ,tien and yamcha then the time patroller will appear at the entrance to kamis lookout ,the time patroller does not always appear but percentage wise a time patroller will appear about 70% of the time then beat the time patroller ,you know you have the dragonball if it says you got key item ,if it says you got material item then its a hercule coin for selling at the item shop for zeni (money) ,even if your created character is at least level 10 its near impossible to fail this quest.TIP to play as a super saiyan character in parallel quests ie goku press square to bring up the skills then press R1 to scroll through the available characters then choose one with super saiyan ,2 or 3 ,these characters must first be unlocked via story mode or by completeing a parallel quest ,the super saiyan form is not permenent as it only lasts for about 20 seconds but all your attacks become stronger while being a super saiyanTIP struggling to open the irritating hard parallel quest 37 ,if you are playing online look for anyone that has already unlocked it then play it with them ,if you win you will unlock it for yourself but you will have no rank because you didn't have it unlocked to begin with ,now play it again and you can have 3 players on your team instead of just one evening the odds and also vegito can now be unlocked ,most people say that this does not work but i have tried it and it DOES work ,this is how i got it unlocked as it was far too difficult with just one player ,cpu keeps spamming the ultimate moves ,this trick can be used for any hidden parallel quest if are stuck on it.TIP to open an ultimate finish on a parallel quest either complete the quest in 5 or 10 mins ,the only one to clear in 3 mins is the super saiyan god goku fight which can be difficult ,you will see ??? before starting the quest but just clear the quest in either 5 or 10 mins and you should fight the last characters to achieve ultimate finish ,unfortunately once again it is completely random when it will open even if you do clear in 5 or 10 mins but i found that using your created character opens it almost everytime.TIP super saiyan 4 goku is unlocked by completing all parallel quests ,you do not need an all z rank like most people say and you do not need the ultimate finishes unlocked either ,all you need to do is finish the parallel quest no matter how you do it ,unfortunately super saiyan 4 vegeta cannot be unlocked unless you have a psn voucher code and they are now very rare ,mabye the ps store will put him up for purchase eventually but there is no word at the moment if they will do that.TIP upgrade your character to have full ultimate and health skills ,also balance out the ki and stamina stats with the extra attribute points ,if you have unlocked the super vanishing ball and super saiyan 2 skills use them for easy wins ,also have the ultimate charge skill to keep your ki power up because the super saiyan 2 skill will drain your ki but you will be able to use the super vanishing ball all the time while as a super saiyan 2 until your ki power drops.TIP all skills awarded in battles go with the character that uses it ie fighting pose (a member of the ginyu force thats in the battle) ,if you know which character the skill belongs to but it does not drop then restart the level to save having to play it all ,the x100 big bang kamehameha skill is unlocked by defeating ss3 gotenks on the ultimate finish as its one of ss4 gogetas moves ,but as usual its completely random when gotenks will drop it just like all the other skills.all downloadable content is...gt pack 1 - kid goku ,pan and gt trunks (playable characters) ,gt part 1 story quest and 3 new gt parallel quests and new skills to unlock ,tien and yamcha also appear as trainerspack 2 - mira and towa ,eis and nouva shenron (playable characters) gt part 2 story quest and 3 new parallel quests and new skills to unlock ,pan also appears as a trainer.character movie costume pack from the upcoming dragonball z resurrection f (frieza) movie ,super saiyan god super saiyan goku's blue hair wig and super saiyan god super saiyan goku and vegeta's costumes when training with whis.

Dragonball XenoVerse is an excellent installment for the DBZ franchise, and actually stands pretty well as it's own stand alone beat-em-up game.Bandai Namco have finally developed a formula that works for these games - the combat isn't overly convoluted but is still intricate enough that you can pull off pleasing combos and don't get bored of the same repetitive actions over and over (it's still not as diverse as your soul caliber or mortal kombat, but it's certainly no mindless button basher). All game modes are accessed from new online or offline servers which see you run around picking options as your created character. On the one hand this is excellent for developing a sense of community and the DBZ world around you,on the other hand it's just straight up annoying that if you want to do a 1v1 with your mate offline, you have to log on to the server and then run around as your character until you get to the relevant desk in the virtual world to set up an offline battle.Perhaps most importantly, the story mode is interesting and different; it isn't just a straight up re-telling of the DBZ story lines, but incorporates this idea of time travel and trying to prevent this new evil from re-writing history. The result is a clever way of kind of retelling the stories but also kind of not, whilst also introducing the concept of creating your own character (which frankly I'm surprised hasn't been an option sooner). The character design is not overly limited, and each different race has a meaningful distinction from each other beyond aesthetics. As far as multiplayer goes - I haven't had a lot of experience here but it definitely seems to be more engaging and fun than previous games. The list of characters is slightly underwhelming - you can only unlock final stages of many of the characters (for example only perfect cell and final form Freiza are in the game). Indeed, the only type of transformation which appears to have stayed in the game is the SSJ transformations for saiyans. Every other character with a transformation is just presented in their final form with no option to play as earlier forms (the earlier forms of Freiza are present in the game as computer controlled bosses in the story, but never unlock, and you never even see the earlier Cell forms). So yeah, the XenoVerse franchise has a ways to go before it challenges the reigning champion of Budokai Tenkaichi 3, but it's certainly not dismal.I appreciate that many of the transformations in previous games were more of a time stall/hindrance to good combat than actually enjoyable/engaging. I'm undecided on whether the new system of having transformations as a temporary effect (rather than a permanent change for the battle) is a good idea. On the one hand it allows the buffs given to be more meaningful (i.e. unlimited ki as a super saiyan which means you can spam those kamekameha waves), but it also gives this feeling of constantly needing to power up, and your character not really being able to sustain his/her heightened form, which kind of grates in terms of the background lore. On the whole it makes sense from a gaming perspective, but my inner fan boy is just a little bit unsure!Overall it's a great game, and I'm looking forward to the second installment which is due out very soon. Must buy for fans, and something to research further if you enjoy beat-em-ups more generally.

By this point alot of the Dragonball games had followed a similar formula though sometimes would mix it up a little. The basic formula is1. Add scoops of basically the plot of the DBZ Anime and the movies at times2. On some games if your feeling cheeky throw in characters and plots from the original Dragonball Anime and GT if your feeling dangerous.3. Have loads of attacks and enough characters for anyone to enjoy beating up friends and CPUs with4. Have the voice actors speak alternate variations of lines they have done for Shenron knows how many years. And its a formula that surprisingly works, Dragonball Z games are actually really fun given how big the franchise is since it has a diverseselection of characters to play as but the one thing alot of people will probably have wanted is to create and be their own character and partake in the series itself. And luckily this is what we get with Dragonball Xenoverse. So without wanting to give away the major plot the story is your created character (characters later when you finish the Main Story) is summoned by Shenron to join the Time Patrol, a special made police force tasked with keeping history in check and stopping anything to contradicts the timeline. Your at once teamed up with Future Trunks, who serves as your form of helping advisor on missions. What are these Missions you ask? Well a new enemy has emerged that is travelling through the history of Dragonball Z and altering events so that Goku and his band of merry fighters are losing to their many enemies. And so thus its up to you to travel through time and correct things so the actual events occur whilst also trying to discover the reasons behind these diabolical changes.Off the bat one thing I enjoyed about this game was that whilst it does have a online mulitplayer mode where you can team up and meet other players is that you don't need to be online to enjoy the game. Xenverse luckily gives you the option to play offline and still get the same experience. So heres a list of just some of the reasons I love this game1. Total interaction with famous DBZ characters via cut screens, side missions and even training2. Customise your character how you wish with clothing, items, attacks.4. Use levelling up points to boost stats how you like it, be it for long rang Ki attacks or up close and personal5. Choose between five species of the DBZ universe each with their own strengths and weaknesses in combat6. Great Replay value to gain more EXP and new itemsMy nit picks are small, the server is still in its early days so connection can be a issue, and whilst the missions do get Star Difficulty ratings the option to change the game play difficulty would be nice. Though if you loose a match it goes make you go back to earlier missions to level up further and try againWith DLC on its way this month Dragonball Xenoverse is a must for fans and gamers alike, highly enjoyable and recommended

As a kid I loved Dragonball Z but haven't played the games since the PS1 days as I never heard anything good about them. I decided I may as well give the first next-gen game a go and see if I could jump on the bandwagon again.First impressions are good, you customize your character from several races (I chose Saiyan so I could go Super Saiyan) and start progressing. The environments look nice and it really feels like you're inside the cartoon as you walk around. You then start unlocking new moves and slowly shape your players abilities to suit your style. For me it all goes well for the first few missions and whilst I'm getting to grips with the system something changes. The jump in difficulty during this initial progression is incredible. You go from obliterating foes at the start to being battered after a few missions. Due to my inexperience with these DB games I have a lot of practicing to do to be great at it, but not being able to control my progression I found incredibly frustrating. You can't even practice with the parallel missions as the beginning ones have the same problem - they're either too easy or too hard. This really does affect the fun factor of the game for me.I feel one major contributor to this is the intelligence of the AI fighting WITH you. They are boardrering useless for me if it wasn't for the fact they absorb a bit of damage that would be dealt on me for the short time before they're killed. This can be incredibly frustrating when the mission requires for them to stay alive to succeed!Another great annoyance for me is the arena. I've lost count of the amount of times I've lost a match due to flying away and getting caught out by the invisible wall (you don't see the outline until you're right up close to it, which by then is almost always too late). Furthermore, being a Dragonball game on the Xbox One I didn't think it would be entirely unreasonable to be able to destroy a lot more of the environment than is actually possible. On the whole though the story is interesting and adds a nice twist. Personally I find the parallel missions better, but then that's perhaps because they're not as frustratating as the main story. The special moves look really nice too and when you get a combo rights it's spectacular! To sum it up, I think this game is a decent go, but I'd have expected better from a next gen title if I'm honest. It plays like a PS2 game with better graphics. I think it's worth a buy (especially once they sort the server issues out) it you're a Dragonball fan, but I honestly don't see much to keep non-fans interest for more than a few hours. I'd have given it less, but when playing with other people instead of the AI the issues I mentioned at the start are obviously negated to a certain extent. Good, but certainly a lot of room for improvement.7/10

first of all... i need to state that this game is really for the fans. new people are going to be so confused playing the story of this game, they expect you to already know the anime to understand what they are doing. they must have run out of money because they could have had a lot more cut scenes. but if you dont care about the story then i that doesnt matter. or if you can get passed it you will enjoy yourselfthe game doesnt have any tutorials so you need to figure a lot out on your own. but its very simple and very experimental due to the supers and ultimates.this is the game DBZ fans have been waiting for. there are so many customization options its amazing and if there is a character not in the game there is a strong chance you would be able to create it.it is very fun and i wouldnt recommend if enough for a dbz fanthe worst thing about the game is the randomness of item drops. i played 8 hours trying to get an item drop to continue my progress of training under my master vegeta but unfortunately i had to give up. but not only that the items are not guaranteed to drop at all at the end of the match. it wouldnt be such a problem if the game didnt want you to get the item to progressthere is so much replay value in this game im sure i will be playing it for weeks ranking up all the different races saiyan, earthling, namekian, frieza race and the majin buu race.

This is probably the best DBZ game out there, it looks, feels and plays like the show and is pure fan service and cover the all DBZ TV story arcs, two movies and (with DLC) GT. How much of the arcs you get to play varies from arc to arc and as such isn't suitable for newcomers.Unlockable costumes and moves cover Dragonball, Dragonball Z and GT. There are "custom" costumers for the player character that can be recolour to your preference but these costumes a feel limited as they are limited to certain races.some negatives of noteItem drop rates in Parallel Quests - Side missions that yield most of the game's skills and costumes; can be rather stingy. you get certain rewards for triggering certain events. However completing requirements for the events does not guaranty it happening, and even if it dose trigger the item may not drop at all.It appears that the Majority of the items in game will alter your character stats to favour Ki (energy) blasts over melee attacks, this becomes less of an issue as you level up and your stats are high enough to overcome it but at the start one piece of clothing can drastically alter your abilities and as such i spent a lot of the game in the basic uniform as it did not effect the stats at all.despite the negative's i've played it for over 50 hours, have several characters and am looking forward to the next DLC

FINALLY, after a long time, Dimps is finally back in making DBZ games again but this time in 3D, it give you a mix feeling between Budokai games & Tenkaichi games, like it's a 3D Dragon Ball Z game that plays like a 2D game, best part about this game is they really improve the character creation from Ultimate Tenkaichi, giving more options to to choose from Saiyan, Earthling, Namekian, Freiza Clan (Race), & Majin being the best pick imo since it has the best defense you don't need to worry of taking too much damage, been playing this game since last week Feb of 17th, really loving this game, it has really smooth controls, isn't complicated to learn & I really love that there is no main menu like as soon as you start up the game & created your character you will be transported in Toki Toki city where you roam around the place checking out stuff & love the story the is completely different from other DBZ games that you go back in time to change history, really creative, so for I have no complains in this game unlike other fanboys where nothing impress them, I would give this game 8.6/10 not because I'm being a DBZ fanboy it is really worth you time & money, hope they can keep this up in the next console DBZ game release, excellent job Dimps.

Best Dragon Ball game in years. Its not an in depth fighter, but it's still tons of fun to play. There's a huge range of moves, clothes and other things to collect and use, and the character creation suite is fantastic.I particularly enjoy the Master and Apprentice system, where a famous character from the series will train your created character by evaluating your performamce in missions and testing you in battle. I'm currently being trained by Cell, and it's both funny and surreal to hear Cell say he'd hug you if he were that kind of person. There are a few gripes though. Some missions will involve fighting multiple enemies at a time, and they tend to speak the basic ki blast attack, which can get pretty frustrating when you're trying tobpullboff combos. There are also some pretty shocking ommissions from the character roster. There's no Cooler, Imperfect Cell, Zarbon, Didoria, Janemba, Android 16 or Non Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta. Though many of these character's abilities, clothes and accessories can be found.Biggest let down for me is that Amazon didn't include the pre-order bonus codes for Super Saiyan 4 Vegetation and the special armours, even though I pre-orders.

If you are a fan of the Dragon Ball Universe then this is certainly the game for you. That said, the game is far from perfect. For starters the game's combat system is hampered by the camera. If you have more than one opponent on in the battle which is probable, then you will have likely experienced the camera jerking around to pick out the nearest enemy. It's not horrible, but it does mean enemies not targeted are off camera and get the drop on you with heavy attacks.Other than that, the combat itself feels very Dragon Ball and you find yourself learning from varied masters in the game like Goku and friends. Eventually being taught their moves..Those thinking they can create multiple characters be warned though, the create option allows for one character up until you complete the main quest. After which you can create other, but the main story quest will only be available for the first character. second characters onwards will have to grind through the various quests and missions to gain the levels..As stated.. if your a fan, this is the game for you.

If you are a DBZ fan, you will not be disappointed as this brings back a lot of childhood memories. At first I didn't know what to expect, there were different race classes and it was very interesting (Namek, Saiyan, Human, Frieza race, Buu)the gameplay is in a 3D environment with stunning backgrounds true to the anime. There are different categories to level up, vitality, Ki, Super ki blasts etc. so be sure of what you want to lvl up if you want to get into serious fighting. It takes some getting used to and can become frustrating if you do not have enough energy levels, correct skill sets etc. it is always good to be prepared prior to the fights. There are also side quests should you get bored of the story line.I found myself after having completed the story,I did not feel like replaying, it is a strange set up where if you create a new character, it does not let you replay the story with your new character unless you select through the levels - you can challenge any level but as I say, it is a new character??

Arrived very quick from Amazon very good service. This is one of the best DBZ games in a very long time I wasn't really a fan of battle of Z, in my opinion Id say Xenoverse is better than ragging blast 2 an thts not an easy feat, the graphics in this game are very neat an polished, loading times I'm surprised are very short for PS3, I like the 3V3 fighting style I thought the controls would be a lot harder than I expected but play one or two matches and you get the hang of it, is this game worth it? Yesss definitely to a DBZ fan even or to a person who wants a 3D fighting type game, £35 good price watch a YouTube video on it so you know what to expect you won't be disappointed, only problem atm is people keep getting cut off the servers which means you can't go into online lobby's but I assume that's to be expected as it's just been released I'm sure it will be resolved in a couple weeks you can still play with other people doh that factor won't change on or off the servers. Overall very good game!

I seriously could not recccomend this game enough! I haven't been able to put it down since I got it a couple days ago. The RPG elements mixed with the great new take on the DBZ story and very well done online play and character customisation make this game really great.I would recommend it more strongly to DBZ fans as it will most definitely and obviously appeal to them more but also people who enjoy fighting games in general I think would enjoy this, the gameplay is much improved from past games and I know at a glance it looks like battle of Z but it is definitely worlds apart! The only fault I have with it at the moment is issues connecting to the servers and have been chucked off a couple of times, but it mainly runs smooth and I have played many online battles and quests without a problem, just the odd moment now and then so I hope they can optimise it more.

Great game, by far the best dbz ive played, although it comes with its flaws, you can tell they were in a rush to get it out an make the most out of the popularity of the recent movies and new series, it has its own story (kinda) and a ton of side missions and items to collect, there are certain parts that will drive you nuts because its simply unbalanced you'll find that you will be spending more time doing the same side missions repeatly just to level up than actually enjoying the game itself, all in all though it's a great game an really really fun albeit abit stressful at times, huge amount of things to do on it an unlike any other dbz ive played I haven't got bored it within 2 hours,an it has chris ayers's frieza in it!! AND it got delivered a couple days earlier than expected! :)

This game has both good and bad points the good being the fact it has an amazing storyline as well as a bunch of additional quests the story is based on the sagas from dbz with people such as broly thrown in later in the game.it's really fun time will fly and you will wonder how long you've been staring at your screen. The badThe destruction is pathetic barely any maps provide dbz style destruction and when you use abilities such as final flash it will create a massive hole in the ground then 5 seconds later the ground will be back to normal which i really don't like, I love destruction! But overall its a great fun game, I reccomend buying it...if you are a dbz fan,if you aren't you will not understand the story at all.

This is one of the best dragonball games I have played in a long time so very much worth getting. You can choose between 5 races like saiyan, majin, human, namekian and one of friezas clan. You can level up your charaxter, customise them with over 400 different things so the possibilities are endless! So far my character has the ginyu force armour with a katana, so awesome!Playing online is so much fun as everyone you play against has a different character with their own abilities and their own master who they train under. The main story is fun to play with the who time travel thing going on which is fun.If you are looking for a fun fighting game with some bits of an RPG thrown in then DBZXenoverse is your game!
