This Corsair K83 Wireless Keyboard is more compact than I expected and is distinguished from most keyboards by its integrated touchpad and joystick. The construction seems robust but its look/feel is a good average rather than being premium. I tested this unit with my Windows 10 PC and a Sony Smart TV.The unit is powered by an integral rechargeable battery which is charged via a Micro USB socket - I'd expected it to be USB C. To get going you need to charge the unit, download the iCue software and update the firmware, these operations went okay. Battery life is quoted at up to 40 hours. You can connect the device to your computer or TV etc. via Bluetooth 4.0 or the supplied USB dongle and Wi-Fi (only 2.4GHZ is supported).Connection by both methods was straightforward. Once connected there was no discernible lag on keyboard, trackpad or joystick. The iCue programme supports overlays for many common games such as Warcraft, Diablo, GTA 5, CoD etc. and you can set up macros plus reconfigure the control functions via the Corsair software. The software package seems quite well designed. The ergonomics of the keyboard aren't too bad either. The overall size is quite compact and the keys are chiclet style rather than the usual mechanical gaming variety – for hardcore gamers used to large mechanical keys this needs getting used to but works okay for me. There are a full range of multimedia keys and numeric keys are arranged in a row above the alphabetic keys. The keys also feature adjustable backlighting but the colours range only between white and grey. The trackpad works well and there are two mouse type keys below it, plus, if you are holding the keyboard there's an action button underneath and one along the front edge - the position of these latter keys feels very natural for game playing. The joystick is okay but doesn't rival a full size one for total control. I really like the roller type volume control which is easy to operate.Underneath the keyboard features long rubber strips which act as feet on a desk and, if you have the keyboard on your lap, they provide a bit of stability but there are no feet fold-out or otherwise. There are LED indicators for features like connection, low battery and caps etc.I’ve got to quite like this keyboard especially for use with my TV. In use the unit is quick and free of lag, the keys are an acquired taste but the overall ergonomics are reasonably good although the appearance is understated.

This keyboard feels like it's hewn from granite, so solid and stable is it, and one can see that the (rather high) asking price went into the chassis design and materials used. The keyboard key design akin to the newer Apple Macbooks, which is rather Marmite as far as opinions go. Personally, I prefer a little more travel and bit more bounce, but as this is designed for media use rather than all day report writing, I think it's perfectly acceptable. I'm not sure they keys are great for gameplay as gamer keyboards usually have more travel and are mechanical, but as I'm not an authority on gaming, that is really my only comment on its suitability for gaming.I really like the touchpad in terms of responsiveness and it's multi-gesture support.I might prefer it to be a little larger, but again - perfectly adequate for media control. The trackpad position isn't ideal for long typing sessions as it means you move your right hand from the main keyboard, but again - not its intended purpose. Just don't expect it to be perfectly suited as your only, do-everything keyboard.I've been using the keyboard lightly for a few weeks now and I haven't suffered any connection drop-outs nor any noticeable drop-off in battery strength. If these were issues in earlier models, they seem to have been ironed out now. Again, though, I am a light user rather than a hardcore gamer. For its intended use, I think this is a good, if expensive keyboard. If you're only going to have one keyboard in your life, for all uses including report writing, I would suggest you look elsewhere, but to control your media centre, it's a good, sturdy bit of kit. The missus might not appreciate its utilitarian looks, though, so check with the Boss before making it part of the living room.

I haven't experienced the problems others have. I've used it with a Mac (to enter Mac mode press and hold the FN and = keys until the caps lock and scroll lock indicators blink) and a Samsung TV running Tizen, connected via Bluetooth. I've had no disconnections as yet. However, on a Mac you have to connect via USB dongle unless you want problems (the keyboard not connecting when the computer is restarted being the most obvious). Corsair has come up with a Mac version of its iCUE software, but still a lot of the hotkeys don't work as they should. The trackpad and other controls on the right-hand side of the keyboard do work OK. For me, the trackpad isn't good enough for desktop use on its own though. It's OK for HTPC use, though with a desktop computer I need a mouse as well.I like the backlit keys. They're a bit more spaced out than other keyboards, and feel very nice to type on. The lighting is more bluey/purply than white, but I don't care about that. In fact, I prefer it to pure white. The topside is aluminium but the underside is plastic. The latter is probably better for placement on your lap. The A, S, D and W keys are a different colour to the rest. There must be a reason for it, though I'm not keen on the look. The price isn't ridiculous for a desktop keyboard considering you get keyboard and trackpad combined, backlit keys, and it can double as a living room/HTPC device. I'm using it as a main keyboard for a Mac computer, mainly due to the feel of its keys and the backlighting. It could be improved, via an ambient light sensor for the backlighting, USB-C for recharging the battery and better Mac compatibility, but overall I like it.

The keyboard is very well made, the keys are touch keys rather than mechanical keys, for a gaming keyboard I tend to only see the clicky mechanical ones. I don’t like the noise the normal ones have, this feels more like my normal Apple keyboard. The keyboard has a touchpad, a small joy stick control and a metal type scroll cylinder thing.Connects via Bluetooth or via the USB wireless connection supplied.I like this keyboard, its not a gaming keyboard in the sense, its a keyboard with gaming functions, I’ve used this on my smart TV which is really good, I’ve used it with my HP Spectre windows laptop, no issues, worked perfectly well.I guess the main issue is the price, its it worth just under £120?thats a lot of money for a keyboard, however, there are plenty of gaming keyboards at that price, and a lot of them are not good, this is very good in my opinion. This is a great Entertainment keyboard, ideal for your TV, use it for TV gaming, searches etc, its a doddle, for PC gaming, probably not, although I’ve played a couple of games on the laptop which worked great.4 stars as I’m unsure about the price, I’ve had gaming headphones from Corsair which have been brilliant and expensive, this is brilliant and expensive.

The quality of this keyboard from Corsair is outstanding - it is beautifully made and well featured with aluminium chassis, back-lit keys, track pad, and a choice of wireless connections via Bluetooth or USB dongle. I found it easy to connect to an LG OLED TV using the USB dongle, which I usually find is more reliable than Bluetooth connections generally. It is a pleasure to use with a responsive track pad and keys. I am not a fan of the round track pad though - I found myself regularly coming to the edge, probably because I am used to a more traditional wider track pad.As well as a means of browsing using your TV, the keyboard is clearly designed with gaming in mind - with the WASD keys a shade of grey to stand out,a single thumbstick in the top right corner, and triggers on the edges. It is a bit of a weird mix though and I can't help but think that most gamers will either want the full keyboard experience or will get an Xbox gamepad if they prefer thumbsticks to keys. The K83 is a weird hybrid that is unlikely to satisfy anyone.I can recommend the K83 wholeheartedly for use with a TV or entertainment system. There are far cheaper options available so worth looking around, although few are as good as this.

This loses a star mainly because it doesn’t shine at anything but is good for a lot of things.I’m using it with my Xbox (despite Corsair saying it won’t work - it does) and it’s very handy. I am not sure why they say it doesn’t work. Not everything is flawless granted, but it does the job well enough. For a PC, again it has flaw in that you would not want to write a novel on this keyboard - it’s light, portable and very much aimed at media or games consoles.Being all in one it’s a space saver and for gaming, having access to the buttons underneath is a genius feature that is very intuitive to use.Compared to the Logitech all-in-one equivalent, it’s much nicer to look at and hold.It feels much better quality, the Logi is very plasticky. I’d pick this one very time - but you do pay a bit more for that.Easy to connect, easy to use - but compromises on every platform. As a media all-in-one keyboard for the TV/games console it still does the job - but don’t expect it to become your de facto control accessory. It fills a gap, no more than that.

i really like this keyboard for using with a media pc. Back light is nice for when your using in a darkened room.. the one and only issue i have is the touch pad for the mouse sometimes becomes unresponsive requiring you to swap usb ports to bring it back.. that being said it could be an issue with my pc and not the keyboard/dongle.And also this only happens possible once a week for me.The build quality is lovely for this keyboard and with the brushed metal top it feels premium and solid with minimum flex.Typing on this keyboard feels ok but just dont expect it to feel like a premium mechanical gaming keyboard..On a plus point the keyboard comes with a nice long (1.8 meter)flat usb power cable which feels good enough quality.I dont use this keyboard every day but from the time iv had it i found the battery lasts ok i only have to charge it every few weeks.. But i only use this keyboard when using my pc as a media center so possibly 8 hours a week.

I’ve been using this with my Firestick which is plugged into a Optoma projector. I really like it and haven’t experienced the problems people are suggesting in other reviews.I bought it after seeing a couple being used by the IT guy at work (he rates it). Have been using for 4-5 months now.It interfaced with the Firestick immediately, with no setup required. It would be good to remap it slightly as there’s a button on the underneath of the keyboard (I assume for gaming) which is quite annoying as it acts like a ‘back’ button and is easy to inadvertently press. However I think you need a PC to do this, which I don’t have!Battery life and wireless range have proved to be good, haven’t had any problems with this. The lock key is very useful!Build quality is very good.

I really like this keyboard. Its compact, has everything "on board" and feels really well made.I don't think I would use this for my normal PC needs (I have a mechanical keyboard which I much prefer) but as a keyboard for a Smart TV or similar device you could do much worse (and I have in the past). This feels responsive and the touchpad works well enough for TV browsing (its never going to be as good as a mouse so set expectations accordingly). I haven't yet used the joystick for anything but it feels ok - again not a gamepad replacement but sufficient. At £81.99 its expensive - I dont think I would rush to get one specifically for TV browsing (there are much cheaper options available)but in terms of what it is and what you get its a quality product.

This is my third wireless all-in-one entertainment keyboard. Previously using Microsoft's media keyboard, then Logitech's TK820 (awful). This is by far the best of the threeI am really happy with the build quality. It has a metal surface which feels really nice and we'll built. The trackpad is.... good. I wouldn't say great as sometimes can be a bit delayed. But I got used to it pretty quickly
