I was always quite sceptical about these, but having used them for about 5 years now, I can testify that they do actually work!I have been prone to calf niggles for a very long time in any case. I then took up rugby refereeing, which really puts your calf muscles to the test. I will typically cover 6k+ during a match, with a mixture of jogging and sprinting, and constantly changing direction. Even though I always warmed up properly and gave my calf muscles a good stretch, they were still a constant injury worry for me.So, I decided to try these. I just wish I had tried them sooner! The sizing is accurate, so make sure that you measure yourself as instructed and order the corresponding size. They give a good level of compression and they grip and stay up well. Mine really get put through their paces during a match and I never have an issue with them slipping down. The key benefit is the after-effect though. I have been so much less injury prone since I have been wearing these regularly. Now I never do any running or even any gym work without them. There are cheaper brands out there, but personally, I wouldn't want to take the chance on them when I know from experience that these Compressport ones work so well. I own several pairs of these now and if you aren't too bothered about which colour you want, then you can sometimes pick these Compressport calf guards up at a very appealing price.I hope you find this helpful.

I am no expert or budding age group athlete, but following cramping on a half iron distance event, I decided to look at investing on calf guards to maybe help with my problem. After reading countless technical write ups on benefits to my wellbeing in using compression products, and quite frankly only understanding only a portion of what they were saying, I opted for the compressport R2. This seemed to be a popular brand with the man on the street as well as elite athletes, reading many good reviews on the product I made the decision (although not the cheapest on the compression market by far) and ordered them.At present I have only used them for a number of training sessions and one Olympic distance tri at Eton Dorney,In honesty they feel pretty much the same as wearing compression socks (obviously) with the added advantage of already wearing them under your wetsuit. They feel comfortable, the sizing guide seems pretty bang on, as a whole feeling good throughout my runs and rides. I can't say definatively if these have improved any performance or muscle recovery, they do however seem to ward off stiffness on the later stages for distance running, and my drive home from the event wasn't plagued by the familiar fatigue in my legs.I do like this product and feel they are helping me and in this would recommend them to others looking to try compression within their sport, a good buy !!!

These are brilliant. I am a mid-40's female who runs 2 miles each way to work wearing a rucksack to avoid the tube, plus a run of up to 10k on a Sunday, & I've been suffering from repeated calf pulls. No matter how much I rehab - rest, stretch, gentle re-start via the treadmill, start walk-run-walk to work etc - as soon as I start running all the way, it goes again. Not always the same muscle, either. Since getting these, within a few weeks I'm now doing my usual 4 miles my usual 4 times a week. Sometimes the muscles get a bit fatigued-feeling - but they don't pull. Hurray! I can't describe how relieved I am because I genuinely thought that I was finished as a runner & was reluctantly investigating folding bikes.I'm miserable when I can't run & don't feel like myself, & it's such a relief to get going again. I was pretty much fully up to speed again this morning.

I purchased these for recovery after hard sessions and races, but as it turns out I now swear by them for racing. Now I can't say that all my performance increases are due to these (obviously training plays a huge part in it), but I was one of the few athletes who ran the entire Ironman Wales run last year without stopping, and I owe a lot of that to how much these reduced fatigue and ache in the calves. Unlike all other 'compression' clothing I have tried, these actually do feel like they are compressing rather than just being tight, and for that seem to help. Their material is different to anything else I've used which probably explains the different compression feel from them.Overall, my 'secret'weapon for the IM run.

I find these very useful, I wear them at work as I have to stand up a lot so my legs get tired but these really take the edge off that. Not the conventional use maybe but that's why I bought them. I'd recommend these over compression stockings which often include the feet which makes my feet sweaty and they fall down which these do not. I have quite long legs, these are not quite long enough for my legs but still do the job and as I said, do not fall down unlike other things I've tried for compression.Personally I don't wear them for running but if you have tired legs at work then I definitely recommend them! I'm going to buy some more!

Spent a lot of time deciding, do I go cheap, or get the proper one's well i'll save you the time buy these, they are great! and they make you look like you know what you are doing.... in regards the size be honest measure the calf and go for the best match- yes they feel tight, but they are compression items, that is to be expected.. they are a pain to get off, but that's because they fit tight. doh! overall i'm impressed and wear they almost every run now, have improved my calf and shin pain - perhaps its partly mental - but take all the help you can to run and feel better , also wear the little ankle socks with them, not long socks

I wasn’t too sure as to just how good the Compressport recovery calf guards would be, but they have exceeded all my expectations. I have found that putting them on 15 minutes before a run works best. They keep the calf’s really well supported, tight but not enough to stop circulation. I think careful use of the sizing guide is the key to a good fit. Pleased to say my tight left calf is now a problem of the past. However, getting the supports off is another matter. I have found that rolling the tops down first and slipping them over the foot is best, but be warned, it’s not an easy operation!

People have differing opinions on the validity of compression garments. Not me. I use socks, shorts and these calf guards as for the most part, they make me ache less after running and also they seem to aid me whilst running to feel less fatigued over distance. The Compressport seem to work as well as any of the more expensive compression garments I use and they cost a lot less than some. If you do suffer from issues with your calf muscles then the price of these make it a worthwhile experiment to see if they suit you. I love them.Fit and cost are great and I intend to get some more.

After suffering some calf tension and soreness when running coupled with a lack of energy In the latter stages of long runs, I purchased these to try. I was sceptical given the evidence against them on the internet, however the benefits were evident when wearing them! Initially ai wasNot used to the compression and felt they were making my calves sorer so took them off mid run. Next time I tried ai ran through the unusual feeling and it got better, my legs were not as tight and sore and I definitely had more energy in them. A quality product at a good price which works.

After straining my left calf fell running for the second time I needed to make sure it didn't happen again. I'd only rested 3 weeks but wanted to do a fell race. I read a load of reviews, trail runner being the most informative, and these came top. As soon as I put them on I felt confident to go running. They fully support the calf and I had no problems at all. They are supposed to speed up the blood flow through the leg muscles improving oxygen supply and recovery by shifting lactic acid quicker than without them. They are very well made and well worth the cash.

Perfect calf sleeves. They absolutely work and are terrific for triathlons. Might slow you down in T1 if you put them on in non-wetsuit races, so save them for longer distance. Unfortunately for the fit-I am 6'1" and 180 lbs. I must have skinny legs and weird body features, because I am long and skinny, it seems like every compression garment for me is either too big and the right length, or compresses correctly and not long enough. I wish these covered more of my calf, but they also covered way more than all of the other calf sleeves I tried.

I've tried compression socks before which I didn't like, so I decided to try out calf sleeves and after looking at various brands and reviews I went for these and even though they might seem expensive I think you get what you pay for.As soon as I put these on I could feel instant compression, relief and comfortable to wear. I went on my first run while wearing these and it was fantastic, no calf vibrations, no soreness and so I had an even more than usual enjoyable run.Would I but these again??......YES I WOULD!

20.7.2013

Dubious whether to buy these at the price they are, but went with the reviews. You truly get what you pay for, I've just come back from a calf injury and was panicking with the Great North Run scheduled in 7 weeks time. Wearing these through running has been fantastic, I have also been wearing them during the day of a run for recovery and have not had any niggly sensations in the calf at all.Placebo effect? perhaps, but I'm made up with them and would defo recommend them.

These compression calf sleeves had first been recommended to me by the guys at my local running shop. These sleeves are excellent! They feel very good for my restless leg syndrome, tight calf like feelings and also really helped to reduce the pain in my lower legs which was part of what kept me up at night. Great for my shin splints, keeping my lower legs warmer in the winter and they've also helped me get back into being able to do interval training on the treadmill!

5.8.2014

Really excellent product. I ran 8 miles with them today doing interval training. When my right calf felt a little tight, it didn't cramp - it just "twinged" a few times and I slowed a little to let it recover. These compression guards are absolutely great for cooler wetter runs too when your calves would feel cold otherwise. The material is thin, so your leg doesn't feel too warm. Definitely recommend. Tip: be sure to measure your calf to order the correct size!
