Never heard of COBI before but came across their range of military building kits and was immediately taken with them. I read a few reviews on the different products and all of them were of the opinion that these were great sturdy kits and a fraction of the price of the "other" well known building bricks. The variety appealed to me and I decided to plump for the U-Boat VIIB U-48. This was one of the larger builds at 800 odd pieces but it looked fantastic. No reviews for this one which I though was a pity as it looked really cool.I ordered it and it arrived a day early so top marks there straight away!Opening the box I found various bags of different peices and helpfully some of these were labelled as bags 2,3 and 4.Not sure if there was supposed to be a 1? Inside each of these bags were more smaller sealed bags with parts relating to what ever stage of the build you were at. I figured it out later that as you go through the manual it advises of which bag you should be using as you go along. Alongside the numbered bags though there were a number of smaller bags (see photos) which did not have any indication as to when or where they should be used and I spent a lot of time going through them all making sure that I had the right pieces to hand.The manual is simple enough to follow and I checked and double checked as I finished each piece. You have to be aware that there is a mixture of dark grey, light grey, white and black pieces and at times if you lose concentration you can get confused or mix up the colours shown in the manual as they can appear a bit to close at times as the same colour on the pages! Sometimes taking a break and coming back to it helped.The instructions are pretty clear but there were a couple of occasions where I could, and nearly did, lose the correct way of construction as I was a bit to hasty and only noticed as I double checked before moving onto the next stage.I built this over the space of 5 days and thoroughly enjoyed it. The bricks themselves are just as good as that of the other brand and I had no problems with any missing parts etc.The finished product (see photos) is a great looking submarine that is sturdy, well built and looks the part. The decals and the "wire" for finishing it off is a nice touch and adds greatly to the finished effect. The little display stand to support it is nice as well.On the whole I can thoroughly recommend this product, really enjoyed my time building it and I will definitely be going back to purchase some more of the COBI brand of military machines

I bought his for my grandson's 10th birthday and he was delighted with it. It was long and sleek which is what he wanted. He assembled it in one day. Not seen it since so I don't know about sturdiness.
