Cat trees/scratchers typically are covered in carpet which holds cat hair and dander FOREVER. no matter how much you try to clean it. This cat tree has a smooth laminated wood sides. Be sure to look for the directions, mine got static stuck to the back of a piece. It was easy to put together, just slide pieces into the slots. Mine came with small dents from where it got bumped during shipping. The cushions are a gray material over a foam piece. I removed a star because the fabric should have zippers so that I can take the case off to wash.

This looks really stylish in my house. It was easy to put together, and appears to be high quality. My 3 cats like it, but they don't love it. They like to sit on the top part and look out the window, which is what I thought they would like. None of them want to crawl underneath. That's okay though, as I ordered this to help give them something to sit on so they could view the world from within. This is a high quality piece of cat furniture, so if you are looking for a design like this, I recommend it.

Looks absolutely fab, but my cats hate the thin and shoddily made cushions it comes with!
