I don't really know how to review this. This is essentially a piece of cardboard in an S-shaped design. We purchased these because we got two new kitties and wanted them to have something to scratch on. This was affordable and had decent reviews so we took the plunge! The cardboard seems to be of decent quality. I love that I can flip it over if they use one side too much. The price seems fair. The kittens scratch on it occasionally, and they like to knaw on the sides of it. Unfortunately, they do not really use this scratcher unless I douse this thing in catnip. I am not sure why. This has become an "old boring" toy in my kittens' eyes. Further, my biggest complaint about this item is the shape of it.If the kitten sits on one side of it, the other side lifts in the air (like a seesaw). In other words, this thing is really light weight. The "hump" is not big enough for a kitten to play or lay underneath it. If the kittens do use this item, they either claw at it for a few minutes or lay on it like it's a mini cat lawn chair (haha).Overall, I would recommend this product because it is decent quality for the price. However, I want to make it clear that not all cats will love this thing, as the reviews suggest. My cats seem pretty "meh" about it.

We bought this as a change for Pepper, our moggie who loves the Catit Animal Design Scratching Board (also reviewed on the appropriate Amazon page). We replace these Catit scratching boards periodically and thought this time we'd try something different and so bought this Butterfly Design Version. These boards are constructed of dense and quite durable corrugated cardboard which, although tough, gradually gets worn away as the cat scratches it. Because of the materials used this product appears eco-friendly too.Pepper loves this new shape of scratching board, which, although slightly smaller in terms of its footprint than the Animal Print Version, is, arguably, a more interesting shape. This conclusion is based on the fact that Pepper wraps his paws around the top of it and rests his chin on it as if to say "this is mine" - he certainly seems to like it a lot. Pepper also likes the sachet of catnip that is supplied, and, which when sprinkled over the corrugated cardboard surface gets trapped scenting the scratching board and adding to its appeal. This is a well made but simple product that cats seem to like and the sachet of catnip which is included is a nice extra. Recommended.

I would recommend this scratcher for kittens or smaller cats. The scratcher is a little small for larger cats but they probably won't mind.My Henry is 11 lbs and very fluffy and long. Because of the shape of the scratcher he is able to get up on top of it and sleep on it or just lie on it. He does hang over the edges but he couldn't care less. It is now his favourite place to sleep. He looooooooves to scratch on it and rubs himself all over it and for this reason I love it too as he doesn't feel the need to scratch my furniture anymore! :)It is light, though- very, very light. It is all cardboard, after all. So it will tip over if a bigger cat goes on it if it isn't balanced. If it is on tile or wood (any hard surface really) it will slide all over the place when your cat scratches it. But if you have carpet or a little rug with rubber backing on which to put the scratcher, then it stays in one place and works great. Unfortunately my floors are tile and so when Henry uses it both he and the scratcher are sliding all over the place. For the price though it is a decent enough product, serves its purpose and the cat loves it.

I've tried several scratching posts & flat, rectangular cardboard scratchers, and S-chaise scratcher is far and away the best. If your cat doesn't like vertical scratching devices, I recommend this--your cat can hop on and scratch, with just enough dimension to keep it interesting.I made the mistake a little while ago of getting a folding screen, not even thinking, "oh, the cat's gonna love this!" and lo-and-behold, he attacked it with relish. Desperate, I looked around for an S shaped scratcher that I'd remembered seeing somewhere, and the only place I could find it was Amazon. The moment I un-wrapped it and put it out, my folding screen was saved. He hasn't even touched it since!I've noticed that some reviewers have mentioned that their larger cats don't like the S scratcher. Of course, all cats are different (no kidding, right?), but I'd just like to add that my cat is 15 lbs. with a bigger frame than most cats I've met, and he both loves to scratch on it and will lay down on it as well. The Bottom Line: if your cat has shown little-to-no interest in vertical or flat scratchers, give this one a try!

My cats love this. They have always loved to scratch one section on the back of my couch. I don't love that. When this scratcher came, I placed it right next to that part of the couch, sprinkled on a little bit of the catnip and they were both on it in minutes. My couch is no longer being used as their scratching post! WIN!The shape of this scratcher is awesome. I was really wanting to purchase the one that looked like a little couch, but it was out of stock, so I "settled" on this design. My cats LOVE to lay on it, even when they're not scratching it. It is much sturdier than many of the same type that I have found in local stores.I will caution you, it is corrugated all the way through,so when you sprinkle the catnip on it, be prepared to vacuum underneath. Next time I sprinkle it, I will use a piece of cardboard from my recycling and place it underneath first. I have only sprinkled with the catnip once, however, and they show no signs of letting up, so I'm not sure that the catnip will even be necessary to use again. Unless they start working on my couch again...

This scratching board is effectively a chaise longue for our beloved cat, Pepper. He has loved this scratching board since we bought him the first one last year and we have recently ordered him a replacement. The advantage of this design is that it is reversible, and will, therefore, last twice as long as some other "single sided" versions. The cardboard is strong and durable plus the honeycomb construction means that the supplied catnip is held conveniently in the corrugated surface without spilling over the carpet/floor. The size is just right for an adult cat and the animal print sides add a nice touch - it is used both as scractching post as well as a chaise longue. Of course, the most important thing is that Pepper loves this product, and, the fact that he uses it several times a day means it is endorsed by him. It is also recyclable, and, therefore, has good green credentials too. Recommended.

The catnip that comes with it, wasn't needed. The kitties ( bro & sis rescued after Storm Sandy, approx 8 months old now) LOVE it, claimed it as soon as it was unwrapped. They scratch on it, lounge on it, sleep on it. It immediately entered the kitty rotation of places to be. I have two other rectangular scratchers and was inspired to get this, when the kitties began laying on and fighting over the newer one. Well, those other two are abadoned. This lovely S shape gets moved around the floor, is incorporated into peek-a-boo games, is flipped over, and used like a spring board. The spotted side strip delaminated upon arrival. Since I'm not fond of the pattern, this did not displease me, Indeed,I tried to pry the other side off, but it was firmly attached. I may buy another, so the third cat (11 years old) might have a chance for access.

I have had lots of cat scratchers over the years but this one is by far my cats (I have 5) favorite. Not sure if it's the shape but no one can ever seem pass by it without stopping to give it a good scratch. Sometimes they just like to sit on it, again may be the shape. I had bought one from a pet store but it was 70 miles from home and couldn't find locally so was really happy to see these sold on Amazon. I've had others that cats ignore after awhile but they seem to enjoy these. I sprinkle some fresh catnip on from time to time too. The catnip will go through onto your floor/carpet somewhat but if you're a cat owner you won't mind since you probably are used to vacuuming frequently anyway - goes with the territory. It's worked well with my cats so if you're looking for a new scratcher for your cat this one is definitely worth trying.

I bought this for my cat for Christmas along with Cat Dancer 301 Cat Charmer Interactive Cat Toy and Kong Premium catnip. This scratcher replaced a flat scratcher that I had. My cat had to learn how to use this...she would scratch it and it would move around. She figured out that it was best to lay or stand on the scratcher, then scratch it. Then it wouldn't move underneath her. She learned this pretty quick. Now she enjoys laying on the scratcher periodically throughout the day, and she really gives it a good scratching a few times a day. I sprinkle catnip on it for her, and I can see that she will probably go through this one quicker than she has other scratchers in the past because she'susing it more.

This is the only scratching post our cat will use. I've tried a sissal one, one with carpet, some flat cardboard ones, one that looked like a fish, a nice Kong cardboard one. I'm getting ready to donate them to the animal shelter. She uses this and only this one; don't know what we'll do if they quit making them. As one reviewer said, pieces of cardboard do get on the surrounding area. Our cat is a heavy-duty scratcher. However, I can vacuum them up easier, and this one saves the sides of the sofa and chairs. It must be something about the angle that she likes. Whatever it is, I'll keep purchasing them 3 at a time.Three will last a good 6 months or so before the sculptured ends are just nubs.

I bought an exact version of this scratcher elsewhere and I wasn't fully expecting my cats to use it but had to try since they wouldn't stop scratching my carpet and furniture. They ended up absolutely loving it!!! The catnip that comes with really helps attract them. The shipping was super fast since it was delivered literally the day after I ordered it. I love how this scratcher allows me to flip it over to a fresh side so it's kinda like a 2 in 1 deal. Ever since I bought these scratchers, the cats haven't laid a claw to anything else which makes me so happy they have something to full out shred to their content and leave my furniture/carpet alone. Best thing I ever bought!

Our cat absolutely loves this. We even took it with him for his recent holiday at the cattery and the owner remarked how many cats seemed to like them. He sleeps on it, plays on it, even eats his treats in it. When he comes into the room this is where he first goes to... And the room is full of other beds and scratching posts. It is cardboard so when he scratches it, there is little pike of shredded cardboard underneath - but easy enough to collect up, and better than shredded carpet or sofa! I with they did this as a 'double bed' as I know he would love that. We did put two together with double sided Sellotape but it did separate after a while.

I just got two new kittens...darling little balls of fluffiness. However, the little monsters were targeting our carpet as the bane of all evil and ripping into it with abandon. I bought two different versions of corrugated scratching equipment, the Scratch Lounge and this Butterfly Chaise. The kittens will lounge on the Scratch Lounge without much scratching activity...but they rip the holy crap out of the Butterfly Chaise and spend time just hanging out and running around on it. I have no idea why the shape seems to tap into their little brains the way it does...but they treat the two units in very different ways. Definitely worth the $20.

I bought this on a leap and a chance for my cat because they normally do not use cat fruniture at all but I was getting really tired of them ripping up my furniture. So the first day I got it they were a little hesitant to get near it but i poured the cat nip that came with it and they instantly became attached to it. One of the cats actually lays on it and also rubs on it which has helped keep her shedding down in the rest of the house. My other cat loves to squeeze under it and almost hug it. But I've had it for three weeks now and I am really impressed that it is still standing. And for the price you cannot beat it.

We recently moved into a new home and were getting a new sofa. Historically my two cats have been notorious for tearing up the furniture. They have also not be know to use the scratchers I have purchased for them. I bought these because they were inexpensive, decorative and could be strategically placed around my home. My cats love them. There is not a day that goes by where I am not hearing them using them multiple times. I have both this design and the urban bench. These seem to have done the trick because my new furniture and even the chairs they used to scratch on are untouched.
