What’s good:Handy space-saving designGood quality10 year warrantyWhat’s not so good:ExpensiveOfficial replacement bags are really expensiveStandard black refuse bags are too big for itI gifted myself a big Brabantia touch top bin about a year ago having put up with the bottom half of an old plastic bin for many years, trying to convince myself that I could live with it. Moving to a Brabantia was like a revelation as it just worked and I had chosen a size that accommodated standard black refuse bags. This new bin has the same matt steel finish that I like (which is not exactly fingerprint-proof but it’s not too bad), and it managed to conveniently partition itself into two sections for you to use as you wish.Typical usage would involve general waste in the larger black section, and recyclables or vegetative waste in the green section. It’s your call how you would wish to use it. Personally I find that we continue to use our large Brabantia bin for general waste as it allows the black bin liners to get quite efficiently full, then the two compartments of this bin we can use for standard recycling in the black section and vegetative waste in the green. Our kitchen is quite large so we can fit them both in, but others might find that excessive.I have so far not needed to use the Brabantia 10 year warranty but I understand from researching bins before (yes, really) that the warranty is effective and Brabantia are allegedly good to deal with on customer service. Until such a time as I need to call on them myself, I cannot comment from personal experience. For a price of £135 (at time of review) I do think that’s rather expensive, even for a Brabantia bin. I think I got my other one for a good price at the time, and noticed that there was quite a wide variation in prices, so do your homework. Rest assured it’s a good product either way though.

Having just moved to a new house, where the council demand greater segregation of waste than at the old property, I was glad to be able to try this product.Externally the bin presents an attractive stainless steel design - though my particular version does show fingerprints. It looks and feels well designed and constructed. The lids opens quickly and smoothly with a single light press and is quite satisfying to use.Internally there are two removable sections; on the left, a larger section takes 23l or 30l liners, while on the right it accepts 10l liners. A small selection of liners is included from Brabantia, three 23l, drawstring bags and 10 10l bio-degradables. The bags are expensive to buy from Brabantia, though other brands produce similar bags at a significant fraction of the price. The bags are easy to remove as there are air holes in the sections that allow air to enter as the bag is removed. (On a minor note, the 23l bags came printed with one of the most pretentious phrases I've ever heard: 'Warning, contains evidence of a fabulous life', I won't mark down for that though!)Being able to remove the two sections also allows for ease of cleaning.Though the bin's price does appear quite expensive, it is likely to last for a long time and the word is that Brabantia customer service are very good in supplying spares.

Brabantia makes very good bins - we've owned several over the years and rarely look elsewhere these days. This is no exception though the black plastic lid isn't as much to my taste as the steel flip-top lids on other models. It is, however, very practical especially if you've got limited space. Unlike the fliptop bin you won't accidentally crash it into a wall with an over zealous tread either...Inside you have two tubs - both long and slender; one much larger than the other. The larger takes your 'dry' recycling items and the green bin, which comes complete with biogradeable liners, takes your compostable waste ready to go.It's a sensible concept but I'm not totally sold on the execution - it remains tricky for a clumsy oaf like me to keep the compost out of the dry recycling especially when it starts to get full and I'd also tend to prefer a basic tub which can be washed out rather than committing to paying for compostable bags. It's a well considered design with a couple of minor irritations and - to my view - a slighty compromised stylistic look. Hence I find it a bit expensive and would choose two different cylinder bins if space allowed.

Brabantia make great bins and we have had an older style of this bin for years - a foot pedal style. This touch bin is so much easier somehow than the foot pedal bin, and a lot less noisy too since the top of the bin and the lid is plastic. It's a good size and it's nice having the compostable waste separator bin and the regular waste bin. The only problem we have had so far is with the compostable bags. It takes us about a week to be able to fill the compostable side and by that time, the biodegradable bag has started to biodegrade and so when we come to empty it, the bag falls apart and then we get a lot of food waste on the floor or in the bin. So we have had to give up on using those bags for that purpose. The other issue is that the bags for the other side, the brabantia 23L bags are really quite expensive, so we do kind of grunge shelling out for these plastic bags. I will say however that they are really good bags and have never leaked once. Apart from the bag issues, the big is great 4/5

I just love this Brabantia Recycling Touch Bin!Having fallen out of love with my battery operated bin I was delighted to receive this. It looks smart and has two plastic inner containers - a 23litre one for general rubbish and a 10 litre one for recycling. I am using the smaller one instead of my usual compost "bucket with a lid". The box included some bin liners that will compost. I will try these out in my garden composting bins and then decide whether I will carry on using them or revert to a newspaper-lined bin which I will just wash out every time it is emptied. This is a really solidly built bin which comes with a ten year guarantee. The touch mechanism works really easily and I like black plastic lid.My previous bin had a shiny metallic top which needed constant buffing up as every water splash and finger print showed up on it.Yes, it is rather expensive but bear in mind that it should give good service for many years.

Brabantia offers good design and a nice finish as well as practicality and for sensible (non-designer) prices. We had the old version of this bin with one (35l) compartment inside, which served us well but was getting tatty - so i was glad when this offer came up.The new one has 2 compartments, the larger for general refuse and the smaller, green bin, for composting. An advantage i have found is the rest of the family are much more likely to put compostable stuff in the green bin than go outside to where the old compost bin lived. as an avid recycler, this gives me great satisfaction. The downside is that it is a little small for family use - for the 4 of us we need to empty the bin every 2 or 3 days.this is not a disaster, but you might want to bear it in mind when considering it for your own needs.

This is such a stylish and practicable bin. It has 2 compartments- one for general waste and one for compost waste. Mine came with liner bags which fit neatly in the storage buckets without showing on the outside. The compost ones are biodegradable but check with your refuse company before putting them in your recycling bins. The lid is simple to use, just one touch to raise lid quietly , thus making it easy to place rubbish in the bin without making a mess. The price of £135.00 is a little high, not sure I'd pay that for a bin, but having said that I am delighted with this item.

Really good size inside and will hold a good amount of rubbish or recycling/compost. Despite its internal size it fits into the kitchen well and does not take up much space. It comes with a few bags for each side included which fold over and dont show on the outside. Both sections are a good size and the easy open one touch lid makes life easy. Easy to empty and easy to clean. Im not sure its worth its current price of £135 but is a very good quality bin which is stylish and does everything it should.

Can't fault the design. Smart, classy matt steel finish. One large 23L container + one smaller 10L container for food waste (with compostable liners), and a smooth push-to-open lid.It is a bit larger than I'd expected (72.5cm high, 43.5cm wide), but it is a good size for a family kitchen.A little bit pricier than I would probably pay (but then, we're moving from a carrier bag hanging from the door handle!). But it is built to last.

Would have liked a bit bigger food waste compartment _ cant see why they couldn't have done this tbh- however otherwise extremely happy with this product - won't be buying the biodegradable bags for the small side though as empty everyday

Bought this to replace my old one which lasted about 15 years. Brabantia are great forupholding their warranty and this bin is great for keeping recycling separately. Looks great in the kitchen too.

Great bin but obviously a little delicate - I had to send 2 back as dented otherwise it would have had 5 stars.

2.11.2017

Expensive but very convenient. Recycle bags tend to dissolve quite quickly with damp waste.

Always buying Brabantia, highly recommended
