We moved house a few months back now and needed to buy some new furniture and other odds and ends. One of the first essential things we needed to get was a new bin, our old kitchen was massive and unfortunately our new kitchen is ridiculously tiny. In fact it is so small that there isn't even any available floor space for a free standing bin, so I set out to find a built in bin which could be fitted under the kitchen sink, i ended up choosing this 10 Litre built in black bin from Brabantia.Clearly the company stand by their products as the Brabantia bin I bought came with a ten year guarantee. On opening up the box I was immediatly impressed with my purchase. It came with instructions stating that the bin was extremely easy to install along with all the relevant screws. Admittedly I am not too good at DIY (infact I don't even know where the screwdriver is kept, shame on me!), so I left the installation for my partner. It took him less than ten minutes to fit the bin to the inside of the cupboard door under the kitchen sink, he said it was very easy, fuss free and not as annoying as he had anticipated. Those with thin cupboard doors may want to be cautious that none of the screws go all the way through the door as this would be a bit of a nightmare. For those with thin cupboard doors it may be a good idea to screw another peice of wood to the back of the door and then install the bin, or perhaps purchase some smaller screws. Luckily this was not a problem for us and the bin was installed with no problems. Since the bracket has been installed it has remained sturdy and in place. The bin is easy attached / detatched from the bracket by simply clicking it in or out of place. Being able to remove the bin from the bracket is brilliant as I can take it out into the garden to clean it on a regular basis. It is made out of plastic and is amazing easily to clean, I just wash it with some bleach and hot water every other week. There is a lift up lid attached to the bracket. The lid is easy to open, it rests on the back of the kitchen cupboard when opened and stays there without slamming shut. One little added feature about the lid is that it has a small ridge at the front, not only does this make lifting the lid ever so easy but it also prevents fingers coming into contact with any mess or germs that may be lurking on the underside of the lid. We have never experience any problems with the bin falling or slipping once positioned correctly in the bracket.I do avoid over filling the bin or putting anything too heavy in it, I don't find this much of a problem and I have simply gotten into the habit of putting anything heavy straight into our wheely bin outside.Keep in mind that this is a 10 litre bin, so it is pretty small. We are a family of four and I need to empty this bin 1-2 times a day. I do find this to be annoying but I put this down to having a small kitchen rather than anything to do with the actual bin, afterall I bought it because I didn't have the space in my kitchen for anything bigger. I try to see the positive side of having to empty the bin quite often anyways, I feel it's more hygenic and prevents nasty smells developing, so that has got to be a plus!

Always had to have a built in bin due to the small, odd shape of our kitchen but up till now have always had the same style that hangs on the cabinet door where the lid is pulled open as you open the cabinet. Never really been ideal as the lid never fully opened so you'd still risk ending up with scraps and crumbs of food going on the lid unless you were very careful physically held it up.Well, NONE of those problems with this little beauty! It's lovely and compact so hardly takes up any space inside the cabinet meaning that I could still have a half depth shelf inside my new 600mm sink unit after all. I have to admit I'd been rather sceptical about whether or not this lid would really stay up completely without having to hold it BUT....it REALLY DOES!!!Also has a neat little sort of lip bit on the lid which avoids hands having to come into contact with any grubby stuff on the underside of the bin when you lift the lid!Nice touch that the bin comes with a pack of 20 Brabantia drawstring bin liners but as these are quite pricey I've found cheaper tie handle pedal bin liners that fit perfectly, just a shame I've not yet found the compostable types to fit, but I'll keep looking.Having already read a review about needing to be careful when screwing the frame into the cabinet door, my husband took the precaution of first of all fixing two lengths of oak inside the door, (one for the top two screws and the other for the single bottom screw), to then fix the bin on to rather than risking ruining our new kitchen unit with long screws poking through the woodwork but this was a simple preventative measure so far as we're concerned as modern units seem to be quite thin in the middles unlike our very old units we've just replaced. Kitchen unit's fault NOT Brabantia's.If I had one tiny little negative to say about this lovely little gem, it would be that it does take some getting used to actually knowing that you've put it back in fully after emptying it because it just sort of....hangs there, or seems to. It's not really 'hanging there' of course because it has a frame around the back and underside. All you have to do is slip the top of the bin under the top support and leave it with it's back straight against the cabinet door and then....let go....trust me, it won't fall out.All in all, I LOVE my little bin. Neat, tidy and space saving and while it may be small, we only ever need to empty it once a day.Would I recommend this bin to friends, family or anybody who's looking for a tidy bin solution? You betcha!

This was just what we were looking for and selling for a great price as well, so we brought it straight away and also purchased their bin bags to go with the bin as well. We couldn't be happier with our product and are so glad we went ahead and bought it, highly recommended. To add we went from a big bin down to this small bin as we just didn't have enough space for a big bin in the kitchen as we just didn't have the floor space. This bin was perfect as we put it under the sink in the cupboard and meant it didn't take up any space as well as being perfectly placed for a kitchen bin.We have now been living with the new bin for several months and couldn't be happier with our purchase. We go through a bin bag every day or so and then just put it in our outdoor rubbish bin. Its just the two of us plus a few animals and we find this suits our needs well, to be honest even if children were added to the family we would keep this bin system - even if it meant going through more bin bags. For us we actually prefer the bin holding less rubbish so you empty it more regularly, it means any rubbish doesn't hang around in the house for too long and so therefore no nasty smells. So for us its been more of a positive and would never want to go back to a bigger bin again.Highly recommended, great quality and easy to fit. Its lasting well from regular use and we use this bin along side the bin bags the company do and they work perfectly with the bin.

Like many people these days, we are required to separate our refuse into various different types in order for it to be taken away. As someone committed to a green lifestyle, I'm happy to do this if it reduces my carbon footprint. My organic waste is always the one that has the most pitfalls as it needs to be collected in the house and then composted. I have a great compost system which is a bin in the garden populated with worms which gives me wonderful compost. However storing it in the house means that it can sometimes smell & on the odd occasion the dog has got into the bin in the house an eaten it. Having a bin stored behind a door looked like a great solution so I got this.Instructions were rather unclear an it wasn't easy to fit but once in, it has proved to be a good solution. It isn't big but if it were larger it wouldn't fit in the kitchen unit plus I don't want to be storing large amounts of organic waste in the house for any amount of time so you just need to empty it regularly. Does exactly what it is designed to do. Only other issue I have with it is the price. Undoubtedly well made but still very expensive for what it is - there are much cheaper options out there for similar items.

Sometimes there emerges a brand that gets everything right. Value for money, quality, design, customer service. Brabantia is one of that select band of brands. This little bin - a simple object for a simple task - is just perfect in every way. It looks good, which considering it is intended to spend most of its time hidden behind a kitchen cupboard door, speaks volumes about the Brabantia approach. It could have been ugly and utilitarian, but, no, it is handsome and minimilistic.Fitting it was simple, but be careful that your cupboard door has enough thickness so the screws dont penetrate right through. Brabantia thoughtfully warn of this in their instructions. It holds a suprising amount and it is so easy to flip the lid open with one non-greasy finger and sling the rubbish in.The lid actually stays open too - I have lost count of the moments of annoyance over the years with bin lids, box lids, tin lids, even car boot lids that seemed designed to trap one's fingers. Brabantia is extremely well-behaved because it is just so well designed. It comes with a little surprise gift - a roll of plastic bags to fit.So, Bravo Brabantia - this bin is brilliant.

I live alone (cue sad violin music) in a small flat, which is very short on floor space. This bin has proven an ideal solution for my kitchen as it can be mounted on the inside of a cupboard door, and luckily the space beneath my sink is not hugely obstructed by shelves or pipes. The bin came complete with a pack of liners, and the average supermarket carrier bag is also a good fit. It comes in two parts: the container and the bracket with hinged lid. The plastic feels sturdy and looks smart. The container lifts off the bracket for ease of emptying and cleaning. I use the bin for small non-recyclable kitchen waste and would guess that I empty it once or twice a week.I had one issue with fitting: the cupboard door onto which I have mounted the bin is not flat, but consists of a thin central panel with a thicker surround framing it. If I had attached the bin directly to the central panel, the lid would never stay open when required - which would be annoying! I solved this by gluing two batons to the panel and mounting the bracket on these. There are cheaper solutions, and I had to make a modification to fit it; but overall I'm happy with my purchase.

Our 2015 nearly new Compass caravan came with a light grey bin on the door that had a lift up lid and fold down front. A thin, fiddly plastic bar was supposed to hold the bag in the bin and the front closed. It wasn't long before this bar snapped in multiple places and the bin was useless. This Brabantia bin is a perfect replacement and I don't know why caravan manufacturers don't just source something like this. It's about the same size as the previous bin but it's so much simpler to use. The mounting is sturdy and the lid is attached to the mounting. The solid bin simply lifts off the mounting base, down and out. I think this bin design is up to much more regular abuse than the original. It came with 3 self tapping screws that are the same length to penetrate the door plastic as the originals. So even though the original holes don't line up, I just screwed this straight into the door. The made to measure Brabantia bags are good. They stretch just slightly to go over the rim of the bin to stay in place. They're the right height and depth and they're strong. Don't know if we'll use them all the time but worth trying with your new bin.

This is a great little bin purchased last year from Amazon with their usual excellent service. It comes with 20 Brabantia bin bags included. It comes with all necessary fittings which is only 3 screws. What you need is a 3mm drill bit. My kitchen doors are standard thickness of 18 or 20mm. And it is fitted to a 600 x 600mm door.If you would like the bin to be open so it doesn't catch when you close the door fit it as in the images I provided.Offer the bracket up to the door with the lid open, make sure it is level and then mark the screw holes. To ensure you don't drill too far offer the screw shank, not the head to the end of your drill bit and then mark that with a bit of masking tape or similar..I actually then drilled a test hole in a scrap of wood as I didn't want to have to fork out for a new door! If your doors are not that thick then you will have to either use shorter screws, pack out the back or use washers to shorten the length of the screw. In all it took me about 5 minutes to fit - this review has probably taken longer so hope it helps!

We use this for food waste mounted on a cupboard door under the sink. This bin is the perfect size for us as it will hold about one weeks worth of food waste if you use the larger 15L compostable bags. There is NO smell leakage when the lid is down. I should note that often a little bin 'juice' is collected under the food waste bag as with all containers for this purpose but this is simply emptied down the sink and quickly rinsed out with washing up liquid and it's as good as new. Another thing I have noticed in the months we have been using this bin is that the lid doesn't seem to stain much or mark from foods as compared to a similar bin we have from another brand. This means that it generally looks cleaner and smarter although we do spray the bleach every now and then. This bin is easy to unclip and clip back on. This is handy as I can unclip and carry the whole contents to the larger kerbside recycling bins.Quality is typically excellent as with most Brabantia bins, I expect it to last a long time.Easy to mount requiring just the 3 included screws.

Fitted this bin today and looks great. Had intended to fit inside a 300mm cupboard, but there is not enough room because of the angle you need with the depth of the bin - so it's now under the sink (600mm cupboard), with enough room left to fit another beside if we find it's not big enough. (looks like it would fit in a 400mm cupboard though). As others have said you do need to be careful regarding the depth you need for the screws. I fitted ours as low as possible on the door, so the bottom screw and the right one (looking at the bin) were in the maximum depth of the door and just fitted a spacer for the left hand screw as the center of the panel is thinner on the inside than the outside edges.I was disappointed that the lid did not stay open(which others have said it did)but I think this is because it goes up against the screw that holds the handle in - currently I have just put a bit of blue tack there to hold it open when needed, but intend to cut a circular piece of black velco and fix to lid and cupboard door to get round that!

From the very start of our relationship we were in love; right from the delivery at my office I was glowing with pride reciting the various reviews on here to eager colleagues, enjoying the delicious promise of installing and using this sleek little beauty.Installation was a cinch; a few screws into the under-sink cupboard and it was solidly in place: a rock in my life: something to really depend on in the world of kitchen waste disposal. It's been several months now, and whilst the initial excitement of the relationship has worn off we've formed a lasting bond built on mutual respect; I of the bin's fantastic waste storage ability and the bin's of my ability to fill it every other day with various vegetable peelings and oily residue.Speaking of which its hygiene is exemplary: never smelling bad after I remove the payload. After all this hyperbole the really practical reason that this bin gets 5 stars: I can use carrier bags as bin bags and it's sized so perfectly that I've not had to clean it ;)

I had an old bin and it was stickin' like a rat had crawled in there and died. It also broke just after a year so I wasn't best pleased. I was going to go for an all singing all dancing bin with 3 sections and all that sort of thing, but then I stumbled across the Brabantia bin and thought yeah why not.I had one of those Brabantia washing lines in my old place and that stood up to a right battering and still survived for over 5 years so I knew if Brabantia was doing good with a washing line then they must be able to handle a bin.I wasn't wrong either. This was so easy to fit in less than 5 minutes and I purchase a bag of liners as well.Really easy to use, access and empty even my 2 year old can do it.So,if like me, you need a simple, effective, easy to clean and easy to fit bin that just does the job then please don't waste any more time searching and just get one of these. You won't regret it and even though it's just a bin, it's a well made, sturdy bin at that and won't let you down.

We've very recently had our kitchen refitted, and somehow ended up with nowhere suitable to put a 'big bin'. I wasn't too keen on having one under the sink as I thought they used carrier bags, and that they'd split everywhere etc. I was pleased when I saw this bin on Amazon as it is much sturdier than similar products, and is a decent size!!Despite the fact that the bin comes with small screws, we realised our new kitchen had cupboard doors that were thinner in the centre and only thick wood around the edges. Therefore our bin is only attached with two screws rather than the 3 (I'm sure it's 3) provided, but it's still a great sturdy fit. With having a local council provided food waste bin,and putting recyclable rubbish straight into our special wheely bin, this bin lasts a few days before we have to change the bag. We use the special brabantia bin liners (some come with the bin), and am very pleased with them also (as bin bags go!!).Would recommend to friends and other 'bin buyers!'

Hooray a bin that our greedy dog does not go scavenging in when we are out of the house. I had brought many different bins that lock and unfasten with a press of a button in the hope it would be more difficult for our dog to break into the bin eat any left overs and spread the remainder around our back porch but all failed. Although this is small and we find that we empty it more often than a bin that stands outside the cupboard, this item is strong, fits more in than we expected and most of all we don't come in from a day out to find all our waste strewn across the floor and us having to clean before we can put the kettle on for a cuppa. This item is easy to fit, does not take up as much room in our under sink cupboard as we expected (we expected to loose half a cupboard storage space, but with a little clever cutting of our shelving managed to keep some space behind the bin) and with our added child safety cupboard clips keeps the dog out. Highly recomended.

We downsized last year and our kitchen isn't the world's largest so it was annoying that a big floor standing pedal bin was taking up valuable floor space. We didn't think we could fit a bin inside the cupboard under our sink but this one does the job. It's made of thick plastic and the design is so simple that it allows easy removal of the basket for emptying and fitting new bin liners. Any old bin liner will do rather than stump up for the more expensive Brabantia liners, who cares if you can see a bit of overlap when the bin is hidden underneath the sink.Screws are supplied for fitting, to a standard thickness kitchen cupboard door. My tip is to ensure that you will be able to shut the door with bin place before boring three holes in your door,it needs to be 7cm away from the outside edge of the door to avoid hitting the carcass of your cupboard when closing. Obviously you'll also need to position it to avoid hitting any under sink pipework too.
