Ok this is my 4th large kitchen sized Brabantia bin. I willingly got my first as an Anniversary present after being seduced by glossy adverts for their sensor lid bin. Probably the less said about that the better as they don't make them anymore and the flap got sent back for repair pretty quickly and then when it broke again I bought this style Brabantia.Good points:It looks the Bees knees. Definitely the beauty contest winner in the bin world at a price.Low maintenance. You just have to wave a wet rag up/down it. You can detach the lid for a deep clean (also this is handy for sending broken lids back under the 10 year warranty). This shape is hugely superior to the flat backed versions as youcan fit more rubbish in and not have to layer your rubbish like a Krypton factor puzzle. The push open, push close lid is much more practical in a kitchen with pets and small children than the foot pedal type. Less trapped fingers and trying to find the lever under a pile of dogs. The lid has been updated from my past two purchases of this shape bin. The lid flap is now bigger and at a steeper angle so easier to throw things in.Bad points are:You can over fill it which can make emptying it messy. If you have teenager members of your household it will be guaranteed they will compactly squash things in so you can't tie the lid of the bin bags. If this is an issue get one of the flat backed ones which you can only fill the bin bag half full. You get a vacuum trying to pull out your 60l, possibly several kilogram full bin bag. You will have to master a Kung foo type foot hold on the bottom of the bin while pulling the bag upwards with all your strength. And usually having to try to tip the whole thing upside down to fit into a new binbag as you can't seal the top of your original one. Brabantia do have a solution for this - an inner solid plastic liner with holes in. They just haven't put it in this version bin.In my experience these bins dent from the inside over time which does detract from the look of your bin over time. You may find yourself replacing the bin for aesthetic reasons within the 10 year warranty period making it less of a bargain.

You can spend countless thousands on getting the ideal kitchen you always wanted; just the right fixtures and fittings, and the breakfast island you always craved. But what is that in the corner stinking up the scene? Bins are never going to be the first thing that you look for in a kitchen, but they could be the first thing people look at if they stand out for all the wrong reasons. Cheap, covered in stains and not in keeping with the rest if the room. If you are looking for a luxury kitchen, then it is important that all your kitchen furniture is of the same standard; including the bin.Brabantia are a top range when it comes to bins, their models look great (for a bin) and have a high build quality. This continues in the ‘Brabantia Touch Bin, 60 L - Matt Steel’, another great looking bin from the brand. At 60L this is a great size to use as you main kitchen bin, it has a large capacity, but don’t be tempted to over fill it as like all bins you will end up with rubbish wedged in. At its core it is just a bin and the cost is a high one for something that is just a functional device. However, the ‘Touch Bin’ provides the form to this function that many other bins simply ignore. The finish itself is very nice, a dulled steel silver that is easy to wipe clean and fits in with any modernist kitchen style. The lid itself is also very nice, a simple click down with your fingers allows the top to open softly – this is not a bin that you fling a t-bag at, you will need to open the lid first! The ‘Touch Bin’ comes at a cost, but it is obviously a cut above many other bins you can get on the market. It is not just a bin, but a statement that you care about the detail and that you have one klassy kitchen.

£100 is a lot for a bin. It's just a bin, right? Well not really as if you have a spent a small fortune on a new kitchen you will want a bin that is super high quality, looks amazing and is made to the highest standards. You will not get better than this bin.The bin replaces an existing 60 litre Brabantia bin which I have had for 8 years and is still as good as it was when new (I have handed it to my parents who were overjoyed). We have a gloss white kitchen with steel appliances and so the bin fits right in. It is made of strong metal but is also fairly light. The bags fit in well (see below) and they are hidden from view because they are tucked under the lid.If I have one niggle the lid can be loud when closing it if you have a heavy handed teenager, but in normal use it is pretty much silent. Not much else to add, I just love this bin (I have a similar smaller version in my bathroom, again with specific bags). How did I know I've had the old one 8 years? I looked at my Amazon orders and I have been buying the Brabantia H bags for all of that time. Yes, they are more expensive than regular bags but they are super strong, fit the 60 litre bin exactly and are designed to pull out without any trouble. I find I can order a pack of 30 bags once a year and they will last a year for a family of 4 (we recycle a lot of stuff so only use a bin bag a fortnight). So really £9 for a year's supply of tough bags is perfectly ok.Overall a fantastic bin which is not cheap but is outstanding value for money when you think it will last 10 years or more.

This is my second Brabantia bin and although they are expensive, this really is a case of getting what you pay for. My first bin is now ten years old, in daily use and still looks great, with the lid mechanism working perfectly after all that time. The matt steel finish on this new bin is sleek looking and doesn't show finger marks as much as the shiny finish. It is very easy to keep clean, with a wipe of a cloth with a bit washing up liquid usually all that is needed. You can take the lid to pieces for a deeper clean if you need to. The lid has a light touch push button mechanism, so when you touch the front of the top, it pops up, and then clicks shut when you push it down again. There are small black handles on the side to make it easier to move around. Also included are three brabantia bin liners. I would say that it is definitely worth using these. They fit perfectly and are strong so it is a very rare occurrence that they leak or split on the way to the outside bin. At a capacity of 60 litres, this is definitely family sized bin. It probably won't need emptying every day, but because of the well-fitting lid, you don't need to worry about smells lurking in your kitchen. And ultimately, although this is a utility product; it's a bin after all, it is good to know that it won't be an eyesore in your home.

This is not a cheap bin but the sheer size and quality help justify the price as well as the excellent customer support from Brabantia backed up by a 10 year guarantee that actually means something. The bin has a stylish look with a sleek stainless steel construction and a quality push to open, push to close mechanism with a damped lid that is a pleasure to use. I have the stainless steel finish but other colours are available to match your kitchen. This is a big bin but the format is fairly wide and stocky which makes it easy to fill and empty. It is 400mm in diameter and 920mm when open so may struggle to fit under a standard kitchen worktop but other size and formats are available. The whole lid flips off when it's time to change the inner bag providing excellent access. I use dedicated bags with this bin as they are strong and do not hang over the lid but because of its size it is not emptied very often and the tight fit of the lid contains any smells within the bin. No liners were supplied with the bin which was a bit disappointing however the Brabantia size H liners are available from Amazon and are strong but not too expensive. So while this is expensive it is a stylish, well designed and quality product backed up by a reputable brand.

After spending a good amount of time reading the reviews of this bin and some competitors (mainly by simplehuman) I decided to take the plunge and buy it. This cost over four times the amount of my previous kitchen bin, but the glowing reviews and the good experience I've had with other Brabantia products convinced me.Having now used the bin, I wanted to add my voice to say that it is worth every penny. It looks great, no smudgy fingerprints and a nice, easy open lid. However, the real benefit is how well it works. Yes, I know it's just a bin, but the extra wide opening makes a huge difference when scraping plates etc. The additional capacity means I'm not emptying it every couple of days, and when I do, no desperately trying to squeeze the bag out without it splitting (you know, the dance where you hold the bin between your knees, and slide your fingers down the side of the bag to try and coax it out!). The liner just lifts out.I was a bit worried it would look huge, but it doesn't - definitely a bit larger than our previous bin, but not massively so.I paid full whack for this, which seems an inordinate amount of money for a kitchen bin, but I am sure it was worth every penny and am confident it will last many years.

I moved "up" from a 30l Brabantia bin to this 60l version. I had never found the smaller bin to be too small, but, with hindsight, think I was in error. This really is a large bin, with room enough that, for my family of 3, it fills only maybe weekly. The bags appear more robust than Brabantia's 30l bags, and the lack of an inner bin means that the bad removal is easier, meaning fewer tears (in fact none so far). The wider opening means that it is easier to sweep items into the bin without spilling on the floor, and also seems to aid bag removal by allowing contents to settle without snagging. All of this is unremarkable, it is, after all, a big bin. The surprising thing for me is how compact the bin appears, despite the evident size. It has Brabantia's excellent finish and build quality, although feeling slightly less bullet-proof than the smaller items (there's some flex in the large plastic lid, for example), however, there's something intangible about the form of this that just blends into the kitchen. Not 5 stars because, well, the price, but if you can afford it, and have a family, I'd say worth the outlay.

In the tradition of Brabantia bins, this is a fantastic, well constructed 60 litre bin.I got this for our kitchen at work to avoid the teabags on the floor scenario. It has a matt brushed steel effect and is light but sturdy. It fits in the corner of our kitchen (see photos). The lid takes a light press to open and closes very smoothly. It comes with 3 complementary bags but larger bin sacks fit perfectly well. The lid comes off but there is no inner removable bucket (as the Simple Human bins have). This would make cleaning a little more challenging but this has not been a problem yet. This is a kitchen bin with a huge capacity but seems to not have the footprint that such a large bin should have. Not much more to say. Please feel free to ask any questions if I have missed anything out.In summary, this is a huge bin with a moderate footprint. Brushed steel appearance so nice and smart and easier to clean than a gloss finish would be. A press sensitive opening lid which can be opened with an elbow. Removable lid but no removable inner bucket.I love this bin. It's perfect for our needs. Recommended

Brabantia continue to be the bin of choice for me, for three main reasons.Firstly, quality. I bought a cheaper brand after my last brabantia gave up the ghost and it was broken and in the bin itself after only 4 weeks. This bin I know will be here for years, the lid and and the metal body just feel heavy and well made.Secondly, Brabantia customer service is SUPERB. My son seemed to have broken the catch on this one and after just sending Brabantia a message enquiring where to get a new one, they simply sent me a whole new lid a couple of days later, completely free. (I later found and refitted the original the catch easily,it had just dropped down inside the bin because a bit of plastic had got wrapped around it and popped it out)Thirdly - have you seen how hard it is to find a 60L bin now? Brabantia continue to deliver.A tip for buyers, if you're not bothered about the colour of the lid, click the drop down at the top of the page and choose the cheapest option. I saved £25 by choosing a black lid over a steel one. Its every bit as good.

You know exactly what you are getting with a Brabantia bin.We have just completed a kitchen refurb and my old Brabantia was looking a bit shabby, so I rather stupidly purchased one of those funky new "sensor" bin that opens automatically. What a pain that was. It opened when anyone went within 1 foot of it - and the design meant there were all sorts of nooks and crannies that held dirt and bits of food.I then decided to go back to Brabantia and found this lovely bin at a fantastic price. It is described as mint - but is is quite metallic and certainly not overly green. My kitchen is mainly white and grey - this fits in beautifully with it.It is a wonderfully sturdy bin - and I am pleased to see that Brabantia have improved their design even further since my old bin purchase. There are virtually no hidden bits where crumbs can linger - and the manual touch opening is smooth. Will never purchase anything but Brabantia in future - you know the saying - buy cheap, pay twice !

A fantastic product, as expected from brabantia. This bin is huge, and the wide, round shape means all that internal space is useable. Our last bin was a Simplehuman one with a capacity only 15L less than this, yet the difference in how much it holds seems far more than that, as the narrow rectangular shape meant it was hard to fill that bin efficiently. The brabantia bin liners fit like a glove, and I was surprised how strong they were. This bin holds a LOT, and a full load of normal kitchen waste is heavy, yet the liner pulled out smoothly with no tears. Saying that, I have also used extra strong generic black sacks in it, and found they work just as well, although don't look quite as neat as they tend to peep down below the lid if you don't spend time ensuring they are tucked in fully. The grey and chrome finish looks super smart, and it still looks as good as new several months down the line. I can see this bin lasting us many, many years!

Not the cheapest bin on the market but probably the best looking and best quality. Was hesitant on spending so much but its worth it will look good and perform for years to come. If you use the matching Brabantia bin liners they fit precisely without leaving anything visible and they slide out easily without catching the sides or the top. The wide bin opening is excellent you can clean plates chopping boards into without catching the sides or making a mess. What a great piece of engineering looks great feels great does exactly what it should. The reassuring feel of the lid closing mechanism the quality of materials used are all very good.Even when you take the top off to empty it comes off and goes back on effortlessly. The quality and feel of the product is excellent you can even say its tactile and the fingerprint less finish works. On the whole great piece of kitchen engineering and will give years of excellent service.

delivered well before the anticipated date ... came with three bags in the bin which is perfect as the bags I requested at the time of order have not yet arrived ... fits where I want it to go with no issues ... is very smart ... and very spacious ... is perfect for the job both aesthetically and practically ... I need it to accommodate recyclable items ... is just what I need .. big enough to take large milk cartons and cereal boxes etcI previously had a double pedal bin which was far from inexpensive but more trouble than it was worthMy son, a Chef, had had one of these bins for years in his domestic kitchen ... when he purchased it I thought he had more money than sense and it was a chef thing ...infact I have purchased three bins prior to this one against the one my son has and his is still going strongJust goes to show you get what you pay for and the ten year warranty is an added bonus

This bin replaces the same model albeit it in a different finish. My previous bin has lasted over six years without any issues at all, so I'd expect this to last. One point to note on the materials used, is that the handles feel a little flimsy, not a big issue, just wondering if they've scrimped on the plastics to keep the costs down. The metallic finish will stain as it will more than likely be used on the kitchen, but the surface is easily wiped clean, Keeping a nice clean finish to the surface will require a bit of elbow grease, but it will be worth it to keep it looking nice.As the bin capacity is a large 60 litres, you may find yourself only empting once or twice a week.If you're putting food waste and other smelly refuse into it and it may sit there for a few days you could get odour in warmer weather. You may want to look at a smaller capacity bin if this is the case.

Ordered this as I wanted a sturdy, large kitchen bin, and as far as those requirements go, I'm very happy. Would have been better if it had handles (little bits of plastic sticking out on the sides don't count and are next to no use!) to aid moving when cleaning the kitchen. Cleaning the bin itself is tricky - even using bags, there's always going to be a smell eventually, but there's a ridge around the inside of the bin at the bottom which traps any little bits which somehow make their way in there, and it's very hard to clean as it's quite tight between the ridge and the walls of the bin itself.Other than that, am happy with it, although it is a bit overpriced even for a metal bin.Hope the lid (which opens and closes very nicely, and doesn't seem too fragile on the catch) lasts as long as the bin itself, as a replacement is about half the price of the entire bin!
