No question, this is a very stylish bin, but at what price? I acknowledge that it is a premium brand, however, £149.00 as at the 19th November 2017 is an awful lot for a bin, even allowing for touch opening, stylish looks and a 10 year guarantee against defects in workmanship: we had a Brabantia bin previously which did last for 10 years, with repeated daily opening and closing - pretty much normal bin usage, but durable nonetheless..So what do you get? A pretty attractive bin, in a sort of retro-style. Our bins tend to be placed in the utility room adjacent to our kitchen, primarily as that is where there is space, but secondly, this room is cooler and better ventilated and therefore if something starts to smell a little (plastic trays from fish spring to mind, even if washed in hot soapy water) we don't have to rush to empty the bin. In that regards, this bin is a bit of an enigma, it comes with two bins, the larger being 23 Litres and the smaller 11 Litres. I am not quite sure how best to utilise this bin, we collect waste of four different types/ plus compost items which we dispose of at home:+ General waste - for landfill e.g. soiled food wrappers or things which cannot be re-cycled+ Recyclable items - paper, plastics etc+ Food waste - contained in a sealed bin and collected separately+ Glass - collected with but separate from recyclableMy thoughts are that we should use the bin for recyclable and glass, which fit in well with the ratio that we tend to generate; far more recyclable items than glass, in that way, we would not need to use the bags. The alternative would be to use it for general waste and some of the recyclable, but with only one lid, I am not sure that I would be happy with this option and therefore re-cycling it is for us.Assembly is a doddle, unpack it and attach the legs and screw on the non-slip feet - what I like about this design is that it is easy to clean under, with a brush, vacuum or mop/floor cleaner. It also being raised is easier to reach, insert bags in it and to empty: ergonomically it is faultless. I particularly liked the fact that it comes with a sample bag of bags for both bins (3 of each). Keeping it clean is also simple, I just wash the separate bins and wipe clean dry with kitchen roll - pretty standard bin setup. So why only 4 stars? I do really like this bin, but there are a number of factors:+ Price, it is a Brabantia, it is a quality item, covered by a 10 year guarantee, but even so, looking at comparable items, it is expensive - it is a bin after all.+ Practicality - there re two bins and whilst I have identified a role for the two different sizes, looking around at similar items, I have identified competitor's products with greater capacity (arguably better for re-cyclable items) and without odd sized bins requiring two separate bags.+ Style - yes it is stylish; it is a retro design and whilst I like it, it would not fit in in our rustic kitchen and would be limited to a modern style kitchen as opposed to a generic bin which I feel would fit in anywhere. If style, brand name and a 10 year warranty are important to you, this is possibly the ideal bin for you. If practicality, value for money are your main drivers, you may want to look at the alternatives - at the end of the day, its a bin.

In situ, the bin looks good--even better than I was expecting it to--and should give your kitchen a stylish boost. It has a simple press-release latch and a very wide opening that makes emptying plates fairly fool proof. Height wise, it doesn't fully open underneath our breakfast bar. I was thinking of sawing the legs down, slightly, but the shortfall is only small (about an inch) and it opens enough for day-to-day use.The 36L capacity is surprisingly spacious. I was using a 60L bin, before this, and had expected it to fill too quickly. Due to the extra-wide design, though, it seems to take far more than an "upright" bin of similar capacity would.I suppose this is due to the fact things have more room to settle into and it takes the better part of a week before it needs emptying. If it has a problem it is as the plastic legs and latch simply do not feel durable enough. With a full bin (and with it located beneath the edge of our breakfast bar), it is somewhat of a worrying process to walk it out far enough to empty. To protect the legs, I've decided to lift it out from underneath the bar, though it is far simpler and more natural to simply walk it. Perhaps this fear is unfounded, but I paid a similar amount for a Brabantia a few years back and it didn't last any longer than a cheap £20 bin.The plastic, also, seems to be midway between the easy-to-break thin stuff (you find on really cheap items) and the thicker, very durable plastic you get with heavy-duty items. I could easily see one of the legs snapping; they are locked into the base of the bin with nothing more than a thin plastic rod. If you have money to burn then it may be worth the risk, but if you are buying this in the hope that the investment will get you something heavy duty, that will last for years, then you may find yourself disappointed with it.It comes provided with three of Brabantia's "perfect fit" bags and they live up to their name. Given the usual cost, though (£10 for 30), I just use standard supermarket ones--70L bags fit fine and are much cheaper in the long run. Due to the increased width and shorter height, I also find that emptying it is much easier than with a taller bin (where the weight is concentrated on a smaller area).Overall, it looks very nice, has useful and practical dimensions and is easier than taller bins to empty. I just feel somewhat reluctant to say it is worth the cost, as the plastic doesn't feel to be of the heavy-duty quality it should.

This is by far the most expensive bin I've ever owned! And I have to say from the outset that, as much as I like the design and functionality, I would never pay this amount of money for a bin (Current price £150). In order to give a fair star rating, I've had to separate the price from the device, so the rest of this review will be about the bin only. The first thing to note is that it is very big; 36L capacity and 68 x 54 x 31.5 cm. It will not fit into just any kitchen at this size. We live in a flat, and I have to say that even knowing the dimensions beforehand, I was surprised just how much space it takes up. We have decided to use it for recyclables,so it is a nice change from the old orange council sack we have used for this in the past. It is too big for our food and non-recyclables for day-to-day use. Here is one thing that we would have wished for the design; an option to "split" the inner bucket room into two, so we could have recyclables and other domestic waste separated, but in the same bin. This of course depends on the size of the family and size of the home, but for apartment use, I think this would make sense. The bin was easy to assemble with straight-forward instructions. There is even a leaflet with cleaning tips. The materials and design fit well together and are sturdy but stylish looking. The soft-touch opening is quiet and safe to operate. The materials are corrosion-resistant, which is useful in a kitchen and around house waste. And it's easy to change bin liners; simply take of the lid unit. Another advantage of this is that the inner bucket is removable, so it's good for cleaning, but also good for hiding the bin liners at the top, so they do not show under the lid.The bin is delivered with 3 bin liners and replacements can be bought either from Brabantia (bin liner code R) or you can go for your choice of bin liners for 36 L - as mentioned before, the top of the bin liner will be hidden by the inner bucket, so nobody will know.It comes with a 10 year Brabantia guaranteeAll in all a nicely designed and functional product, but it is very big and it would be nice to have the option to somehow split the inner bucket into two compartments for separation of waste. The price... well, the price is not for me.

This is a rather handsome recycling bin on legs. I use it for recycling because I need a rather larger bin for general kitchen waste, but it could be used for general waste too). The idea of having legs seems a bit odd - why not just have deeper receptacles? - but it certainly looks good. It’s available in one-, two- or three-hopper versions, and the version you choose will depend on your council’s recycling requirements. My council won’t take food waste, so I compost that, leaving me with mixed cardboard/plastic and metal/glass to store. I seem to have a lot of cardboard and plastic, and not very much glass or metal to recycle, so the 2-hopper version works well for me.Assembly is very easy: screw the rubber feet onto the legs, then snap the legs into the bottom of the bin unit. Three bin-liner bags are provided for each hopper; however, for clean recycling I’m not sure if it’s really necessary to use liners. In any case, the bag sizes are Brabantia J and X for the medium-side and small hoppers (and R for the large hopper version). My local Waitrose doesn’t sell those sizes. There are holes in the bottom of each of the hoppers to allow air to escape, presumably, but they’re arranged in such a way (effectively about 20cm above the base of the hopper) that any water that drips into the hoppers won’t escape. The lid has a push-to-open clip, and is spring-loaded to open and close easily. The most annoying thing about this product is that you need to lift off the entire lid mechanism to empty the hoppers. It would have been nice if it could have been hinged - some other Brabantia bins have this double-hinge mechanism. But that’s a minor quibble. It’s a well-made product, and if having a couple of plastic buckets for recycling (which is what I was using previously) isn’t neat enough, well, this certainly looks very smart indeed.Don’t forget you’ll need an unoccupied wall to place the bin against. It is not the most space-efficient bin, and Brabantia bins tend to be on the expensive side, but if what you're looking for is style, well, this bin certainly has that.

This Brabantia Bo Touch Bin is well engineered and the design really breaks the mould amongst kitchen bins I’ve been used to. My descriptor for the look would be “Future Retro” because on the one hand the bin is very modern in its appearance but the legs and curved shape introduce echoes of a 1950s look too. In the right setting this bin looks wonderful and is also practical thanks to its design and the variety of internal configurations available.Set up is easy and the adjustable legs fit easily onto the body of the bin. Once assembled opening the soft touch lid doesn’t upset the composure of the unit which remains rock solid. The lid responds to the lightest touch and is damped so it opens gently. What I also like is that when opened the lid doesn’t flip backwards beyond the back of the bin, so, if it’s placed against the wall repeated opening of the lid won’t damage your decorations. The easily removable internal bin is capacious (36L) and a sample of the official Brabantia bin liners are supplied - I think if you don’t use the official versions you’ll need to experiment with supermarket versions to find the right size. Arguably, there’s a bit of lost space under the bin although you could store things like cleaning materials there but that might be to the detriment of the smart appearance of the unit. The legs ensure this bin is higher than many others meaning you don’t have to bend down to empty it. In addition, the finish is fingerprint resistant and very easy to clean without leaving smears.Whilst the design of this bin is best suited to certain types of kitchens/customers, its build and finish are impeccable and I think you’ll get years of service from it. Having owned Brabantia products in the past l’ve found their customer service to be very good. In summary, if you like the design of this bin you should have no reservations about the build quality and its usability. Recommended.

Looking modern and yet retro at the same time, this is a smart looking bin. The brushed steel look is very attractive, and it's described as fingerprint-proof and it lives up to its word - so often these kind of finishes can look a bit grubby after handling.Minimal assembly is required - screwing feet (you get a spare pack of feet as well) into the legs, which only takes a few seconds, and slotting legs into the base of the bin. Inside the bin there is a removable interior, and you can use a binbag with it so that it wraps over the top of the inner and between it and the outer for neatness. You get a pack of three Brabantia own brand bags with.I don't know if you are tied into using these bags or if some generic bags will fit.The lid is touch operated, press down to open and it gently springs open, and press down and click to shut. To remove the interior container & bin bag if used, you will need to remove the whole lid unit but this is not really a chore - it essentially just rests on top.In one sense it's large - you do need to think about where you are going to put this and the space requirements - but on the other hand not so large. It wouldn't suffice for all my recycling for one week for example (and there are only two of us in the house), but for me it will useful for certain recycling like paper, textiles, batteries & small electricals which I don't put out every week but collect until there's enough to warrant sticking out kerbside in an old carrier bag (for more common stuff, bottles, cans, plastic food containers we get council supplied boxes and bags, but not for the aforementioned stuff). It's not really the sort of bin to be hidden away in a utility room or suchlike, but you probably need the "right" sort of kitchen or wherever you are placing it to match the styling. Expensive for sure, but you are paying for the design and styling.

This is a really beautiful bin and much more practical than I first imagined. It's pricey for a bin, but the quality is easy to see and feel.I have the black bin with two compartments and knowing that there are two other options (1 large bin, or 3 small compartments in one), I'm not sure which one is the best. I really like this bin, but I think that the one-compartment bin would be brilliant too. I am currently using this one to collect all my small plastic and small pieces of cardboard recycling in one place - like my small washed yoghurt pots and cardboard sleeves, which are easier to collect together and decant into the recycling box in our garden once a week, rather than gathering them on the kitchen work surface or leaving them stacked up by the door. The main bin is deceptively large. I previously had a tall cylindrical silver bin, which drove me mad - I could hardly fit anything in - when I pulled the bag out - it would only really be half full and then I would either have to leave it in the kitchen to fill it up - or I would have to take it out half full/empty. This shape bin manages to hold so much more - you can fill the bag in this shaped bin - so that it is really full. It's so much better. The bin has a striking look - with it's long legs - which allows this to look elegant, despite it's width. If it ran all the way to the floor - then it would look bulky and cumbersome - but the legs make a huge difference. Classy and practical - in black it is chic and wouldn't look out of place in any modern kitchen. But it's still pricey!

As other reviewers have said, this is a stylish and very well-made example of a bin for rubbish that can be used around the house since its looks bely its more prosaic function. In short, it doesn’t look like a rubbish bin! The legs and body combine to provide an effective and capacious container that can be placed in a kitchen, or indeed in other rooms without standing out as a rubbish bin. It is certainly capacious and the plastic bag liners provided (a sample pack) mean that you can easily fill and empty it without making a mess. The exterior is finger-print resistant so you are not for ever needing to clean it. Since the legs provide height to the bin, it is at a convenient level for use,and the touch release and close lid works very well rising slowly and smoothly on its damped hinges. The bin is very easily assembled and the screw in non-slip fit for the legs ensure that the bin does not slide on smooth floors and the level can be set precisely if necessary. There is a large bucket lining the interior which easily lifts out so you could fill this then place back in the outer section if, for example, you were tidying a dining room of napkins, and other post meal detritus.Although designed as a bin for unwanted items, the size, shape and elegant design mean that it can be put to different uses. It would, for example, serve as a dirty clothing receptacle in your bathroom.Well-designed, well-made and functionally perfect. Not cheap but worth the money for a quality utensil.

Just received my trash bin and have taken it out of box and assembled. Based on my initial reactions:Color: 4/5Slight off white color. I read this from other reviews but proceeded to buy anyways. In my picture, you’ll notice the slight shadow difference in whiteness between the bin and my white counter. But this doesn’t really bother me (although might to some).Appearance and build: 5/5When I first saw it, I thought the legs were silly looking. But now I like them! I didn’t need a big bin, but I didn’t want a small bin where I had to bend down to use and I wanted an easy to open/close mechanism. I also was looking for a combined waste and recycler option. This bin checked all my requirements. The legs are great for giving height and I don’t have to lift or move to sweep under. Also they’re equipped with adjustable rubber bottoms so the bin is leveled and doesn’t scratch floor.Easy to use and clean: 4/5You can’t take out or replace liners without removing the top which is a slight peeve. Fingerprints are also noticeable on the white coat (but not lid which is nice). The liners they suggest fit perfectly and snug so that was great too. The lid also works great and is fairly secure as long as you don’t move the bin.Durability: 4/5I could foresee the bin being dented if it toppled over. Seeing how expensive it was - that’s not refreshing to know. However the plastic on interior and legs seem strong and well made.

I have had various bins over the years and had a Brabantia touch bin 50l one for the last 10 or so years. We moved house and had to always have the bin in front of the large glass doors of our kitchen, so always looked a bit stuck out. We are a family of 4, so a hidden bin under the sink was never an option. So when I saw the bo bin I had to have it! And it has not disappointed - I love it!!! Because; 1. I can now have it at the end of my kitchen breakfast bar and it is almost invisible. 2. The legs meant it was off the floor so the under floor heating does not cause the bin to heat up 3. Easy to mop underneath. 4.Although it is smaller than my last bin by 20l I did not appreciate how much easier it is to pull the bag out - I used to really struggle doing the bin wiggle before lol! 5. I chose the one insert as we have a recycling bin already. The way the 30l Brabantia bin bag fits over this is a perfect fit and the lid clips over the top. The designers have really thought about the way it is used as just the little lip on each side of the bin insert makes it super easy to lift out to change the bag.6. The bin is really easy to wipe/clean and the top is a lovely Matt finish that is easy to wipe off greasy finger prints. There is not one single negative about it. This bin is amazing!!

I was a bit dubious ordering a bin with chair legs but this is gorgeous. Well built and stylish with an ultra modern look which would best fit sleek, newly built kitchens. It does have a slight modern uptake on a 50s shape to it.It's easy to assemble with the legs just needing pushing in gently and the feet stoppers twisting in by hand. It's light enough to carry but sturdy enough that dogs and toddlers won't knock it over. The great thing about this is you can mop and clean under it with no unsightly floor rings that can happen under solid floor bins. The stoppers in the feet also unscrew again so you can give them a deep clean. There is an internal removable bucket the rubbish bag fits around. It's deep set so there is no plastic showing to spoil the look. You get 3 free bags to start you off.Being oblong the footprint is quite large so you need a decent size kitchen or utility room to fit this in.The lid takes a push down to click it open and and a further push to close it. It's a smooth quiet mechanism. The instructions say if it stops working clean the lid mechanism. You can fit a decent amount of rubbish or recycling in this. I currently have a larger capacity round based Brabantia bin I struggle to lift the bin bag out of and empty so this is better.

This bin is absolutely a thing of beauty. It's bold, stylish, well made and convenient...but it's massive. The kitchen in the Amazon promo picture must be in a giant's house. To visualise how big this bin is, think of it as a dressing table - it's about the same height, width and depth. If the place you plan to put the bin could accommodate a dressing table, then you're fine. If it can't, you're not. For me, there's no way I can fit this in the kitchen with reducing cupboard accessibility, and the other obvious spots for it around the house are in front of radiators. With all that in mind, this is more a bin for the workplace than the home. But it's lovely, and I want to use it.So after a brief spell in the bedroom as a laundry bin, it's now in the garage holding the recycling due to be taken down the tip. Hopefully that's not where its career will end, but it's more likely to come back into the house as an impromptu table than the bin it actually is.As an observation, I find the bin is better used without the legs in place. With the legs on, this really is a dressing table. Flat on the ground, without the legs, it's a better hight for a bin or storage chest.

When it is made by Brabantia to look like a class piece of furniture. Designed to let you separate your waste into two, easily removable, internally fitted containers, this bin offers an attractive and innovative alternative to traditional waste containers. It also features a removable lid to access the waste buckets when full. The lid fits simply, but offers a hygienic seal. It opens silently when touched softly and closes just as efficiently with gentle pressure. The bin stands securely on four easily fitted legs and its good looks means it can be placed in any room in the house, or about an office. You have a choice of 5 colours. The one sent to me for testing is in red.I really like it as it highlights brightly against neutral backgrounds. Capable of taking up to 34 litres of waste, it has a reasonable large footprint. Make sure you have sufficient room for it as it is not cheap. Being a Brabantia product, it is beautifully designed, made from quality materials and comes with a 10 year guarantee. I would expect it to last much longer and think it could be in danger of becoming a design icon. One for the environmental connoisseur.

Really stylish looking bin. Reminiscent of 1950's/60's style of furniture. Will look good in any kitchen. Oddly for a bin too its become quite a talking point for visitors to our house. On unpacking its a breeze to put together. Basically all you need do is push the legs into the base and place the lid on top. Empty its surprisingly light weight, but robust too. So is easy to move about as required. The bin is well made and the lid opens easily with just a gentle push and closes firmly again with the same gentle push. The inner bin bucket just lifts out should you need to clean it. With a 36 litre capacity it holds plenty of rubbish, so shouldn't need emptying too often. The bin comes with 3 made to fit plastic bin liners. Brabantia replacements can be purchased as required or you can just use generic bin liners or black bags etc. Other varieties of inner bucket are available so that should you want to separate your rubbish, say between recyclable and non-recyclable, you can.Another reviewer commented that it looks too good to be a bin. I'd agree...If you wanted it could of course also be used as a storage bin/container

I love this bin! It has the same capacity as one of their traditional "pillar" bins but is altogether more stylish - it looks great at the end of my worktop. The touch lid mechanism is both good and bad. The good is that it stays open until you press the lid back down rather than having to press the pedal to keep it open. That bad is that it is not as hygienic as a pedal bin because you have to press the lid to open it but that can be overcome with regular cleaning!Apart from the cost of the bin itself, the bin bags are much more expensive than the usual Brabantia bags. At the moment, these bins require a special size of bag which does not fit any other bin in the range. As a result I found them hard to get hold of (out for stock on an Amazon Prime option when I wanted them so that I had to go to a third party Amazon supplier to get them). Hopefully, they will make more of this size of bin in the future so that the bags become more popular, stocked in more places and cheaper. You only get three bags in the box so consider buying a packet of them at the same time as placing your order.
