This can best be described as two bins inside a single bin or more strictly, two compartments within the same bin, given that it only has one pedal, which operates a single lid across both compartments. It is quite stylish (for a bin) but do take note of the dimensions, given that it is quite wide and so won't suit every possible situation. The compartments inside the bin are labelled as X (small compartment) and J (large compartment) which is relevant when purchasing bags for the bin. A trial pack of three bags for each bin is included and from Amazon, replacement bags are available at just over 10p per bag. Whilst this is slightly more than the cost of a supermarket equivalent bag, they are strong and worth the money in my view. The bin is easy to operate and although the pedal is a bit stiff (probably something to do with the inclusion of a soft closing mechanism), it's still easy enough to operate, even without shoes (not sure if it's just me but I find certain jobs easier with shoes on, such as climbing a ladder as it reduces pressure on a small part of your foot). To aid emptying of the bin, the lid can be locked (in the open position) so that you don't have to keep your fot on the pedal, whilst removing the bag, fitting a new bag etc.One aspect I was slightly surprised at was that whilst each individual compartment lifts out of the bin for easy emptying, the "buckets" (for want of a better word) don't have any handles on them, which is slightly inconvenient. Having said that, each bucket does have a ridge around the outside by which it can be held. The finish of the bin is very high gloss (red in my case) with a black plastic pedal and rim around the lid of the bin. This makes it look pretty attractive and fits in well with my kitchen.

A very attractive, large kitchen bin from Brabantia. I have used a number of different bins from this brand before, and this has the customary quality and design attractiveness you would expect. It is a large capacity bin at 36 litres, with one large, deep internal bucket. The bin is supplied with 3 "R" bin liners so you're ready to go. The liners fit perfectly so there is no overhang. The foot pedal operates well, and the closing mechanism is very slow and smooth, as well as silent. There is, helpfully, a lock switch on the underside of the lid if you need to keep the lid in the open position for a prolonged period - just flick the switch back when you're done. The external metal casing is actually a little flimsy,it isn't the solid metal I have experienced on other, smaller Brabantia models. This is understandable given the substantial size of the unit, however I do imagine this would dent very easily if you're not careful. Having said that, it should withstand general usage without any mishaps. You could easily use this for storage if it doesn't fit in your kitchen, and would make a nice feature unit anywhere in the house. However, I'm very happy with it in my kitchen and it really brightens the place up.

First of all, this is a very attractive looking bin. For the amount of space inside it, it's very compact. I have the passion red variant, and it is a wonderfully vibrant red colour that pops in the kitchen. The pedal is large and easy to use and the bin closes slowly and quietly. Inside the bin are three separate compartments: I use one for recyclables, one for compostables and one for landfill. You can easily fit an empty wine bottle upright in the bin with room for more. The bin came with free samples of Brabantia's own-label bin bags, which - of course - fit the bin perfectly, but you can use a range of mid-sized bin bags or even supermarket plastic bags at a push.I cannot fault this as a sleek, plain bin that offers compartments for different rubbish. It does mean I have to empty my bins more often than I did with my older larger bins in the kitchen, but I am happy to trade that off for a lot more space in the kitchen.

I ordered this after reading the reviews. I bought the red version and it a very nice colour in reality. I have no problem with smells, the lid closes properly and the waste bin is smaller than the recycling section that is next to it. Initially I thought the lid did not hold very well when clicking it into the upright position but I just had not pushed the rotating plastic dial far enough. I just hope it lasts but ofcourse there is a 10 year warranty to fall back on. If the inner bins are not seated properly the lid does not close but if the positioning is correct they lid does close well. The Brabantia liners fit nicely and are of a good standard.I am pleased to have exchanged my 12 litre and 30 litre pedal bins for this version. It is slightly deeper perhaps but lower and as the lid does not flip behind the back of the bin I actually needed less space.Overall delighted after using it for several months now.

Brabantia's 'Bo Pedal' bin is a premium and well constructed bin with style in mind; I received the 'Mineral Concrete Grey, 3 x 11 L' version and I personally think it looks great which is not typically something you would say about bins. The measurements of the bin is approximately 44.cm (H) x 54cm (W) x 36.3cm (D) or 32cm (D) if you don't include the pedal that protrudes out. It's very important that you measure out the area you want to place this bin as the width for smaller sized kitchens may be a little problematic, whereas if you have a longer or decent sized kitchen where there is space and no cabinet in the way, this would be perfect. The pedal opens the lid easily and smoothly and inside you have three containers which all hold the same amount (11L); the bags required are 'X 10-12L':

Generally pleased with this item. Doesn't show the stains as much as polished, gloss or white colours. The mineral finish is sparkly, which some may like or others might finding annoying. Because it doesn't look like metal, there is the temptation to handle it more roughly, which would be a mistake as it would like dent fairly easily. The locking mechanism to keep the lid up is hard to engage and requires a firm hand or it doesn't engage properly and the lid flops down. As others have said, this is the main minus point of the bin and is a low effort design. Otherwise good. The 2 split bins are convenient for 1 person. I empty the larger compartment more regularly as I use it for recycling. But it doesn't fill up every day or every other day which was a concern when I chose it.

Brabantia started out about 100 years ago, and is well established as a market leader in the production of sleek, stylish and functional bins. But I’m wondering if Brabantia is now making varieties of bins just for the sake of it. This product is wider than the image suggests and doesn’t fit into a standard kitchen cupboard, so it has to be stand alone. We get through a lot of packaging and containers in our household for recycling, so this bin is a bit too small for our stuff. So we’ve ruled it out as a receptacle for recycling and now use it for dry dog food in the larger container and dog treats/accessories in the other. It looks nice, is well built with soft closing. But at £160+,it’s quite an expensive dog food container.

I love this bin! It's a lovely sunny colour that really brightens up my kitchen. The size is just right for me too, though I suspect it might be on the small side if there were more than two people in the household. I keep rubbish in one side and food waste in the other, and it makes disposal nice and straightforward. Really convenient to have both things in one place, and the lid does an excellent job containing any odors. It's also a nice feature to have a self-closing lid. The only niggle I have is that the 'keep open' feature on the lid doesn't always hold it open as effectively as it should. That's a small complaint, but then again this is a premium item so I almost feel it should be perfect! But it is very. very close.

This product is wider than the image suggestsIt is not suitable for the average kitchen, in that it is too wide to be hidden in a standard kitchen space.Indeed in the promotional material that comes with the bin, it is photographed as a stand alone object in a modern expensive urban kitchenHowever, it is attractive and will also work as a storage container, which is what I use it for, but the question if for what and where? Its too small for a towel container and too large for toilet rolls, you also wouldn't want to put heavy things in it as you couldn't move it easily afterwards, as it has no wheels. Also, although it is attractive as far as bins go,its not attractive enough to be a piece of furniture?Troublesome!

I think this is brilliant product and it looks so pretty with its shape and it's pretty yellow shade. It's wide and not so deep but still 36 litres. It has a pedal and soft close - not sure why it's(the pedal) black not chrome like I thought there standard is. However it's quite niceIt's designed as a bin but with how it looks it can be used for different storage uses which we have done. It's easy to get excited about this however, although it's in line with the companies other prices it comes with such a high price tag I can't give it the full five stars. It's really pretty and well made though.

Probably more suited to an office than a family kitchen, because it fills pretty quickly in our house, but it's neat, stylish and practical in every other respect. Perhaps not as strongly-built as our old Brabantia bins, some weight having been taken out with thinner metal and some non-metal components, but the closure mechanism is quiet and gentle and it's good to be able to remove one bin at a time in line with our council's recycling days. Very easy to clean and it would probably rate 4.5 stars in a fair world, losing just a little for the small capacity.

A quality brand, good bin that suits a modern home. A little bit over priced for what it is. The top had a scratch on delivery that I didn’t have the energy or time to resolve. We chose the three bin feature. The handle to keep it open inside bin is handy.

This is a lovely but overpriced recycling bin by Branantia. There are two small bin sections and it cones with starter bags. For household use I’d say it’s far too small. You will constantly be emptying it. I’ll use it for pet food storage to be honest!

More expensive than most recycle bins. But the brand is highly recommended. Bins are perfect size for small household.
