I'd been shopping for step-on waste baskets because I needed firmly closing lids, due to my dogs' fascination with the contents from ordinary waste baskets without lids. I found these simplehuman 1.2 gallon compact step ons with lids at a great price, so I then read the reviews to see if they were worth the price. Nearly all of the reviewers were very pleased with them, however, many complained of them tipping over too easily because they were so light weight. Since they obviously needed more weight and balance in the bottoms of the cans, I set out to find the perfect fix. Having searched at home for anything that would work and finding nothing, I then thought about placing magnets or something similar under the plastic can liner, having a small diameter and weight, and whatever it was had to be thin enough or the lid would not close properly. Finding that fix was no easy task! Finally, barbell weights came to mind, the smaller light weight type, and voila~!! I found it! The "fix" that works for me is a Weider 2.5 lb. Workout Weight Hammertone Plate that fits the round bottom of the can perfectly, and is thin enough to not disrupt the mechanism of the lid opening and closing. They were on Ebay for $3 each, and I got one for each of the simplehuman step ons for each of our bathrooms. The weights were a perfect fit in every way, and not once has either can tipped over or even moved! The lids open and close properly every time. I'm extremely pleased with these step ons, and have zero complaints. I no longer have to kindly remind our guests to PLEASE close the bathroom door when exiting, and best of all, I've had to clean up zero disgusting shredded trash everywhere, and the doors now remain open ~ unless occupied, of course! ❤️?

I stumbled across Simplehuman products whist looking for something online. I was shocked at some of their prices, wondering who would pay those prices for things like a bin !! Do these people have nothing better to spend their money on !!I recently had a new bathroom and needed to buy bits for it which included a bin.... This small bin seemed an ideal size.. intrigued by Simplehuman products and their (mad ?) prices i decided to give them a try based on great reviews people seem to leave for their products.. Being that this is small and I felt actually a very reasonable price - I ordered it.IMPRESSED? - VERY !This bin is just perfect...Its so easy to use and not a pain like other small bathroom bins I have had in the past !This little bin does not topple over at all in use... Impressed !!It is easy to clean - just a wipe over needed..Its holds lots considering its quite a small bin. There are special bins liners available for their bins but I am still considering whether I am willing to pay the price they sell at... for something that I will ultimately thrown away... ;-/ not sure...But I am happy, really happy ! I tried out Simplehuman products... I have since bought another of their bins and when my kitchen is done I will be investing again in their recycling type bins...My opinion is that they are a very good investment and possibly would last forever ! I would definitely recommend this.Thank you.

We've had a chrome bathroom bin for the last 10 years (and it had, had it's day). I wanted to keep to Simplehuman this time (like our kitchen 60 litre bin, and other Simplehuman items) as this brand is very reliable, I like it more than Brabantia. I paid £14.99 at Dunelm Mill however, but it's only £2 cheaper on here so no big deal. It is just what I wanted, the perfect size. Our last one was only a 3 litre so it was being emptied every day, two shampoo bottles and it was almost full.It has weight to it so it doesn't slide and move across the floor when you operate the foot pedal, like some bins do. That can be highly irritating. It has a very smooth opening and closing mechanism and it's silent. This bin looks smart and the foot pedal is a nice touch, so it doesn't look too bland; and adds that little bit of style to otherwise a boring white plastic bin. 6 litres is perfect and I shall not bother with the SH bin liners for this bin as a carrier bag suffices, and is cheaper. You don't see the bin liner anyway, it's well hidden. We buy (on subscription from Amazon) the 60 litre liners for our kitchen bin so if in the future I change my mind, I'd do the same for these.Happy purchase and recommended!

It says it is fingerprint-proof, and it truly is. I have to admit this was the key thing I considered when I bought this bin, and it totally served the purpose. What more, the bin is so sturdy, and pedal feels very solid. I have a feeling this one is going to stay a long time in my en-suite - the old one that we had to replace collapsed after 5 years. It was a £10 purchase from Next so I am not going to complain. This simplehuman bin is superb, it is heavy, and it is certainly expensive, but it is worth it.I would also recommend you get the 4.5L model if you plan to keep this in your bathroom that you use everyday. It is so much more convenient compared to a standard 3L, you don't have to change it every 3-4 days, you change it once every weekend, during your cleaning chores, it just makes life easier. and it's not that much more expensive compared to the 3 model.I wouldn't recommend the special liner though. Three samples came with the bin so I used them of course, but apart from being neater-looking and that they have a sealing feature they are merely a very expensive alternative to the standard small liners that you can get from Sainsbury's.

First of all, it's a matt white plastic and not a slightly pearlescent white as it appears on my screen! I quite like the matt finish, as it is makes a nice contrast with my white, high gloss bathroom furniture.I purchased it because I was fed up with the clang my 3L stainless steel bin made, every time you closed the lid. And yes, this Simplehuman bin does close quietly - providing it has room at the back for the lid to open. But if is placed directly in front of a wall or other vertical surface that lacks a deep skirting board, the lid will hit against the wall :-( So if I put it in front of my rectangular, wooden laundry bin (where I had my stainless steel bin)instead of the lid clanging when it shuts - it bangs when it's opened! LOL. To get round that I have had to put it sideways on, which isn't ideal but at least it shouldn't get water marks and finger prints all over it all the time :-)

This is a smart and well-built bin. We have it in our bathroom where it is just the right size - it would be too small for a kitchen bin in my opinion. I was attracted to it initially because it has a good layer of synthetic material separating the metal of the bin from the floor (I am paranoid about scratching or staining a new polished limestone floor). The metal of the pedal is also covered with a protective layer too. The pedal mechanism doesn't feel at all flimsy unlike most of the cheap bathroom bins that I have had in the past. The body of the bin doesn't seem to show fingerprints. Regardless of what the description says,I couldn't fit the bin liner so that it was completely hidden.Although this bin looks expensive compared to most of the opposition, I think it is worth the extra expense as it just looks and feels more robust.

I never thought I'd ever write a review about a bin. But here I am ..... this bin is worth every penny. It is slim enough to be unobtrusive and nestle into the sink pedestal and the bin pedal actually lifts the lid high enough to throw things in rather than bend down to feed it. It holds plenty of toilet roll inners, empty tubes, bottles etc for a once a week empty. The top has a little lip on it so should you want to, opening it by had is really easy and because it's tall-ish, the bending is minimal - great for early morning bad backs. Black plastic is matt finish so not cheap plasticky-looking at all. I bought two, after spending many hours, yes, many hours looking online/argos/john lewis etc.I subsequently bought several other simplehuman products from Amazon - their products are superior quality, stylish, modern and practical.

When it comes to bins. I will always gravitate to Brabantia - great quality stuff. But it would seem there's a new kid on the block. This bin is just beautiful. Sturdily built and excellently finished in subtle, brushed stainless steel. At first I thought it might be a bit big - having a 4.5 litre capacity compared to most bins 3 - but it suits my modestly-sized bathroom just fine. It's is well packaged and also came with 3 free bin liners (further stocks of bags are available via Amazon at a reasonable price). As with most bathroom bins, it has a removable plastic inner bin which can be easily removed for cleaning as necessary. In short, I would highly recommend this bin to anyone looking for that quality addition to their bathroom. The subtly domed lid also gives it an extra aesthetic charm... I'm delighted.

I searched at length for a suitable sized bin for the bathroom. A lot of them are very tiny and would have to emptied every day. I also wanted a plastic one because having quite a steamy bathroom I feared a metal based one would easily rust. Having stumbled across simplehuman a few years back and instantly falling in love with their unique and really well designed products I was chuffed to see they had exactly the bin I was looking for. What I love particularly about this bin is the size which is perfect, it doesn't move at all when you put your foot on the pedal so doesn't feel at all flimsy despite being plastic. Great touch to have a metal pedal as this is the part of the bin which will be used the most.Very happy customer and of course Amazons extremely efficient and swift delivery meant even happier :)

I think design is important. You use things like this every day. There are problems that can arise: ugly looking bags hanging out of bins, difficulty fitting the bin bag, difficulty getting bag out.... in short a hundred daily irritations. This thing solves those problems - I don't know how (that's the magic of good design) but it looks good, feels good to use and gets rid of many little daily irritations. In ten years, say, that's a lot of irritation gone! It is a solution. Get the bags! they cost money. Yeah, so what, you would rather be annoyed each time (at least once a day) you change the bag? Get the bin, get the bags, and each time you use this product think 'Ah, nice design, someone knows what they're doing!'.How can you gush so over a bin? Life is all about the everyday. Enjoy!

After getting tired of an old bin from Asda that was a real pain in the en-suite I opted for this Simplehuman design. Really pleased. It open easily (not all pedal bins do...I hate those dome topped bins that you can't put near the wall for fear of chipping the paint or tiles). This is a wipe clean textured plastic (only the pedal is metal..satin in texture). The bin has a removable bucket for convenience. I like the draw string bags but that is a personal choice, shopping bags are just as effective or (because of the bucket), no bag at all! I was so impressed with the bin that I soon bought a second for the main bathroom. I had considered a Brabantia as I have one of thier designs in the kitchen...on reflection this is a much better (and a little cheaper)option for the bathroom.

I have had the 10L version of this in two bathrooms. They were great and I like to buy the liners that fit perfectly. In a new house, newly decorated bathroom I decided to go for the smaller 6L, about £15 cheaper and smaller so not taking up so much room. But although it is a great size and looks the same it doesn't have a soft quiet close lid and is very light. When you put your foot on the peddle it moves a bit. I was really disappointed and won't be buying the 6L again for this reason. However it looks nice and neat clean and I put lots of pebbles under the rubbish bag to weigh the bin down. It doesn't move nearly as much so it is easier to use.It is a good quality bin but personally I would rather pay extra for the 10L,it may be just what I was used to!

A fabulous little bathroom bin. The brushed finish is very easy to care for, and the pedal action is very good; the bin doesn't jump around when you operate the pedal which is a perennial problem with cheaper bins. I bought a pack of Simplehuman bin liners to fit this size - they are a little fiddly to fit as they need tucking in around the top of the inner bin but are almost invisible when installed and the lid is closed.Overall a high quality and well designed pedal bin. I bought a similar but much larger kitchen bin some years ago which is still going strong and looking good. Both are pricier than many alternatives but I think they are worth it for the quality and the pleasure of having something that just works well and will last for years.Recommended!

How is it possible to rave about a bathroom bin? Well, along with many others, I can! This is so much better than the metal pedal bins that I've had in the past. The size and shape is great - holds just that bit more than a normal bathroom bin; there is room around the inner bin so that the bin bag can be hidden away rather than spilling forth over the sides of the bin thus ruining the pleasing look; the pedal works smoothly and the lid doesn't spring suddenly onto the wall behind. I purchased two at the same time as the reviews were so favourable and I'm so glad I did. The black bins blend very well into our bathrooms even though what I wanted was a silver one. Very happy and would buy again, though I don't expect to as they seem built to last.

I was looking for a good bin with these kind of dimensions for the kitchen. There is no getting around it... it is expensive for a bin but... the butterfly opening, the sturdy, well built construction and general solid feel of the product gives me no regrets over my purchase. It is built to last and expect it to do so for many years. It also comes supplied with a trial pack of ten bin liners. These are also strong and well constructed. I would not pay £20+ for the 60 pack though but... they are readily available for significantly less from a well known auction site. Alternatively... the 10L bin is the ideal size to take standard carrier bags as liners.I'm happy with my purchase and would nothesitate to recommend.
