I have had this bin a week and love it! I spent absolutely ages on-line looking for, and reading reviews on every bin that was out there, and this was the one that appealed to me most.I wanted one that was at least 50 litres as I previously had one of the 45 litre Living Eco-Bins, with the three compartments, of which only lasted 6 months before one of the lids snapped; plus it only gave me 15 litres for household rubbish. This Simplehuman bin is a great size, without being too intrusive, and it sits nicely to one side of my kitchen. It fits in perfectly with the brushed steel appliances, and it could almost pass for an appliance rather than a bin - which I like ;) I love the way the bin-liner is concealed within the bin,and I love how silent the bin is on opening and closing.Finger-print proof.....very true to it's word there! The only part that does mark is the pedal, but then it is being pressed 10-20 times a day. With my last bin, I had to take it out to the garden weekly and hose it inside and out, as food would get stuck inside the lid and around the edges.... I won't have to do that with this one as I can see it won't need it, which is pleasing! One good thing is that when the bin-liner is full, it is so easy to pull out...with my previous bins they have become stuck and torn when pulling them out, so this is great. 'Simplehuman' also supply 3 'free' ' Simplehuman' bin-liners, and these are great, strong liners...I have just purchased a 20 pack of these for £6.99, I prefer them to the standard black bin-liners, and they are far stronger!I like that this bin has now reduced daily trips to the outside wheelie-bin, to just one trip a week!I actually purchased this bin from 'Leekes' as it was on offer for £95, as at the time it was £127-£150 everywhere else. I now see it is here on Amazon for £89.97, and just a few days ago it was about £72. However I am totally happy with having paid £95 and would have been happy to have paid full-price as it is the best bin I have had - and all the family agree! :)Yes.......I highly recommend this bin, I cannot see us needing another for some time, and when we do it will be another 'Simplehuman' bin!

...just as flat. :-)Jokes aside, this is a realy nice bin with it's shiny surface and two compartments inside...one for the boys and one for the girls. I spose you can use it for recyclables and non-recyclables if you must. It was big...bigger then I thought it would be (should have studdied maths a bit more, I spose). So do check the dimensions of the bin before you buy. Otherwise, like me, you'll find that the bin is bigger then your actual kitchen. The 'pedal' worked nicely during our time together.I would love to have kept it but we were destined to live apart. It came with a dent on one edge. I don't blame the seller for this but probably a callous courier with slippery fingers. The packaging was the original one used by 'Simplehuman'.The dent was the downfall. People would compliment and say 'what a lovely bin' and I'd automatically respond 'yeah it is lovely...it'd be gorgeous if it weren't for the dent'. Eventualy the 'dent' would have become the focal point and people wouldn't see the 'bin' anymore for the dent. Look don't judge me okay. My friends are nice and not at all shallow. The seller was awesome. The comms were brilliant and I was offered 'options' in sight of the DENT that came with a bin. The refund was fast and the collection quick. I would definitely recommend this seller to people and advise you not to base your decision on my misfortune. I am, perhaps, an unfortunate person (I did once lose an argument...with a tree. No, let's not go there).I would've given a more in-depth review, touching on subjects such as;Finger prints on the bin,Bag in Bag out,Bang no more (the soft closure feature),To Bin or Not to Bin (a discussion of modern bin-shaped art)..but our time was as short as a 'silent sneeze' (and just as embarrasing), so I'll leave it for others to advise you.Bin Well.

I was looking for a new kitchen bin and already knew of the reputation of Simplehuman. After a little research I quickly decided to invest in the 30L butterfly pedal bin. Arriving quickly I was surprised at how compact the unit is (smaller than I expected in comparison to the photo's however for me this is not a negative) I was so pleased to see that the stainless steel finish truly is finger print proof! I really do not like stainless steel products as it marks and scratches so easily and is a nightmare to keep clean. Thankfully this is not something I need to worry about with this bin! The bin itself is very smart and discreet and you really can see the quality in every aspect. The unit is lightweight yet robust and easy to handle. The bin is functional as the butterfly lids allow full access to the can (unlike my previous Typhoon Capsule pedal bin which had a tiny opening making it difficult to scrape plates etc) I like the way in which smaller details have been thought of such as the soft close function and how you can prop the lids open for longer use and bag changes. There is even a built in rest enabling you to tilt the plastic bucket at an angle allowing for easier bag changes. I have also purchased the Simplehum can liners and will continue to do so. They fit perfectly and ensure no liner is seen when the lids are closed. Not only that but they are strong and well constructed with reinforced seams and useful tie handles. I am the kind of person who will invest in a quality item and if you are looking for a new kitchen bin that will not only function perfectly and look great in your kitchen then look no further; you've just found it!

You either know if you're conceptually on-board with spending this much on a bin. I'm not going to sway you on that one. If you are okay with the price, this is a great bin. I'd ummed and ahhed between this one and the Joseph and Joseph bin which was a similar price, but pulled the trigger on this one and would recommend it for the following reasons.- The silent close mechanism. I work in an environment, with foot pedal bins with no silent close mechanism and it grates every time I use one of them. At home I don't want this. And a foot pedal bin is a must for the kitchen I think - it just makes waste disposal easier and cleaner.- The individual compartments - how have I thought I was doing rubbish right without having nice discrete compartments for waste and recycling. They are a good fit and easily removed if needs be. They may well feel a bit small, but I think that's going to be a matter for your home life. For a family of three it feels plenty big enough.- The bin bags. If you're the right kind of nerd, having bin bags designed to perfectly fit your bin and be pleasingly thick and robust, it is deeply satisfying. You get a starter set of both the kinds of bags with the bin and even their packaging is well-designed and allows you to pull a single bin liner out and even has a little tab that gets pulled out when you're running low. If you live in the states they even have an app to help you order more. Sadly not for the UK, though.Yes, it's expensive and the liner are more expensive than the ones you buy in Tesco. But it works so well. And either that's enough for you to justify the price or it's not.

I was really hesitant about spending this much money on a garbage and recycling bin, but we had one of those open recycling bins, and a cheap run-of-the-mill garbage bucket that wasn’t anything special. I have nieces and nephews in my life now, and they were always getting into both of them which wasn’t ideal, so I purchased this item.I must say, it’s a lot bigger than what I expected, however the bins and especially the garbage bin is rather narrow, but is very deep. I have the two big garbage and recycle bins available in my garage for larger items like that, so it’s not a big deal for me. If you’re going to rely on this solely for all of your garbage and recycling needs like if you’re inan apartment it may not be ideal because it won’t fit everything/large items.I didn’t buy any bin liners, because I thought I could get away with some bags that I already had, however I was surprised to find that there was 20 free bags to try out! I’m not gonna bother with a liner for the recycle bin as I can empty this into my big recycle bin outside, but you will most likely want to purchase the liners for the garbage bin because it’s so tall and skinny, and most bags out there won’t fit it.I love the footpedal, it feels nice and sturdy. The lid closes very slowly and doesn’t make a sound when it closes. The button to keep it open is handy too. I provided lots of photos to get an idea of the size of it. So far it’s great and it compliments my kitchen and other stainless steel appliances beautifully.

fantastic bin!*ADVANTAGES*1) Excellent size2) Stylish - looks amazing in the kitchen3) the rectangular size rather than a standard circular bins means it's easier to fit in places and doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.4) no need for the more expensive simple human liners, the standard ones fit fine.5) self-closing lid is perfect, closes very slowly and smoothly, so you never need to get your hands dirty by touching the outside.6) it is has a fingerprint-proof brushed stailnless steel finish, meaning it leaves no finger marks.7) easy to cleanDISADVANTAGES1) Slightly pricey but a worthwhile investment. This is a totally utilitarian product that, however, also looks great, particularly in kitchens with stainless steel features. The self closing lid, which closes satisfyingly slowly, means that you never have to handle the the outside. However, even if you do handle it the fingerprint-proof brushed stailnless steel finish means that no evidence is left behind - a Godsend if you have sticky little members of your household with sticky little fingers! The bin's shape also means that if you want to site it in a relatively narrow gap it is possible as it fits almost right up to the wall. The only potential downside is the cost of the bags. The bin comes with 5 when new but replacing these is a bit of a pain. However, I fit any white liners and secure them to the inner black plastic bin with a large elastic band - so problem solved!

We recently moved from a house where the kitchen had a fitted bin unit in an under-counter unit. The new house didn't so we needed something stylish and practical to take over... My main concern was: will it be big enough? So many bins are tiny, and need frequent emptying. Also - would it be robust enough to take the constant use that goes on in our household.First of all, I bought this through an offer on Amazon Warehouse and got it for under £100. I think at its recommended retail price it's over the top: but paying about £80 didn't seem exorbitant.Unlike some other buyers, it didn't have any dents in it, so we could start to use it straightaway. For two adults (no kids) it's about right size,I reckon. Needs empyting about once every three days - more at weekends. The pedal/lid action is smooth, no noise, and the slow-close is a nice touch. Getting the bins in and out can be tricky when they're full, but it's not impossible. So - overall, yes, I'm pleased we payed what we did: but I certainly wouldn't have wanted to pay more! Being able to position the bin right up against the wall is a plus, as it means it takes up just a little less space. We don't use a liner for the recycling part, but we are currently using Simplehuman bags for the main bin: they seem not too expensive so I'll probably order more rather than making do with other bags that don't really fit.A good buy; good quality; stylish; easy to use. Bit expensive.

After researching different kitchen bins I came across the superhuman range and fell in love with this model. Because I don't have an inbuilt bin in my kitchen I need to keep it out on display. I know that bins are functional items but I also wanted one that looked great as a piece of equipment in the kitchen. This one looks really lovely in the kitchen and a couple of my friends have seen it and gone on to buy their own.One really important thing about this bin is how slim it is. It is about half the width of a standard swing bin and so it can easily slot into a small space or go up against a wall and not take up too much room. However, because it is smaller in width than a standard swing bin it does hold less volume and does need to be emptied more frequently. The bin is brushed steel which doesn't mark when handled. It is also easy to keep clean, just a quick wipe down with hot soapy water, dry it and give it a very light coat of WD40 to keep it looking brand new.I like that the lid opens by use of a pedal, I'm not a fan of using my hands to open and close bins. The great feature of this bin is the butterfly opening lid - it is split in half. When you press the pedal both sides of the lid open outwards. You don't need to close it with your hands, just take your foot off the pedal and walk away and it will close on its own.If you want a bin with a bit of 'wow' appeal then this one nicely fits the bill.

I spent ages researching the perfect bin for the kitchen in our new house. We had a narrow space next to the patio doors which we needed to fit in a bin with capacity for recycling. My husband hated pedal bins as he always tripped on the pedal and I didn't like flip top bins as I think they can trap germs too easily, so we were at odds. I found this bin, the pedal is slightly tucked away, it fitted in the space and the butterfly opening meant it didn't bash into the wall every time we opened it. The slow open/shut mechanism also stops this problem. My main problem was the price - £150 for a bin, ouch! But I couldn't find anything as good, that ticked all the boxes, anywhere else.I admit to trying to find it cheaper elsewhere but I couldn't. So I held my breath and clicked buy. However, nearly two months later, I've never been so pleased with a bin. It has a large capacity so we only have to empty the non-recycling every fortnight - this saves on the bin liners (which fit perfectly btw). The recycling bin's capacity means that, even with squashed up 4 pint milk bottles, wine bottles and tins, we only have to empty it a couple of times a week, even at Christmas. Not bad I reckon for a 4 person family. It's also easy to keep clean, inside and out.Despite the price, I can thoroughly recommend this bin.

This has got to be the best Pedal Bin I have ever owned/used! I only wish I'd found it many years ago... but never mind, I have it now & love it so much that I bought my Daughter one! I've had mine for 2 years now & it looks as good as the day I bought it, so it's true what they say... you get what you pay for!It looks gorgeous (for a bin!). It's easy to keep clean. It's the easiest bin EVER to use, with the soft close lid & the ease of emptying. The Simplehuman Bin Liners just glide out.. no-matter how full they are! The soft close lid can be clipped open to empty/clean & that's a great feature. The outer Stainless Steel is actually fingerprint proof..sometimes you read these things about a product before you buy but never quite believe that what they say is true but it actually is. If you do need to clean (I don't put food waste in mine because I recycle it all) the outside, a soft cloth does it really easily. Obviously, should you put food waste in your bin, then an anti-bacterial cleaner would be advised & I wipe mine over & buff up with a soft cloth.Honestly, this bin is so worth every penny you pay for it. It will last a lifetime if taken care of, so easily pays for itself in the first couple of years. Brilliant product & highly recommended by me!

I've had this simple human bin for nearly a year now and think it's fantastic. Okay, so it's kind of expensive but the quality, finish and utility make it well worth the expenditure - I live in a small upstairs flat and so the facility to have both recycling and ordinary rubbish in one bin is extremely useful, and the way the bin fits plus against the wall really minimises the space it takes up (plus it's so stylish it's like a little work of art anyway - seriously friends have actually complimented me on my bin!!).Having had a couple of disappointing cheaper purchases before, the quality of this is excellent (and I appreciate the guarantee). The "fingerproof technology" on the brushed steel curiously works fantastically - there are rarely smears or grease marks on the metal and where they do arise, they wipe off easily with just a damp cloth. The purpose made SH bin lines for the bin (although I don't bother for the recycling section) are strong and neat.In a small kitchen where the bin is always on display, a product like this really makes a difference to the appearance of the home - and ease of keeping the place tidy. I would definitely buy this brand again and am extremely happy with the purchase.

This week I was forced into spending a disproportionate amount of time researching kitchen bins and analysing the reviews, looking for one that is dog proof. Our little hell raiser westie pup Florence was knocking over our old bin and vandalising the contents to maximum effect. She taught our other 6 the skill of knocking it over and getting the lid off which rather forced the issue. We already spend a small fortune at our vet and so I finally tracked down this bin. It arrived promptly and is a massive success, even forming the focal point of our kitchen. What a magnificent thing it is. My only problem is now who to leave it to in my will as it will certainly outlive us!My husband reacted strongly when he knew how much I had spent, considering it overpriced for a kitchen bin. Now that he has seen it and witnessed the effect on 'the pack' he is totally converted - and appreciates the potential vet bills it will save us. No regrets at all. We have now reviewed it on our rehoming charity facebook page and are going to recommend it on our website. I would consider this bin a 'must have' for any dog owner. An excellent purchase.

Bin Size 50L:So like many others I was unsure as to whether or not to order this bin purely because of the cost aspect, £130.00 is a lot of money for a rubbish bin, albeit a nice looking one, but fears were unjustified as it is superb! Fits perfectly in my newly renovated kitchen, I went for this model as the newer one (that has the bag dispenser) does not seem to sit flush against the wall whereas this one does, and this has the ability to keep the lid open and has an inner bucket. Foot pedal is really solid and easy to use, 10 bags came with the bin already but I ordered the extra set of 60 along with a charcoal filter kit, the bags are really heavy duty feeling and fit very snug around the inner basket,I am really pleased with my purchase but have had to knock 1 star off for the top lid being marked, looks like a coffee cup ring of some sort or where a sticker used to be (see photo) I really should of returned product for a refund / exchange but had already thrown out my old bin to make room for this one, I have tried to remove the mark but it will not budge, will try customer services and see if they have a solution.

never really paid much attention to the bin...but very happy I went alittle beyond the basic types...+ looks good...stainless steel all round, easy kept clean feel more hygenic - if you cant hide you bin then this ticks the box+ Its really easy to clean the exterior - it really doesn't stain/finger print easily like other stainless items in our house like the fridge, oven etc.+ soft close via a dampened lift mechanism - surprised how much I appreciate this, less bangin around while cooking/cleaning.+ latch - there's a switch to lock the door open when your changing bags.+ solid steel pedal - looks nice but also means you have less pick of germs from a touch to open/close type.+ comes with 10or so free custom sized bags with draw strings.+ rubber feet - doesn't slide or move on our hard floor.+ 10 year warranty on moving parts?- thin walled, it could dent easily if courier isn't careful.- perhaps smeller? depends whats in it but due to the soft close lid it can be open much longer than really required so lets out possible smell- more stuff to go wrong, but with a 10yr warranty a very minor worry.

The design of this bin has been well thought out. It speaks quality, is very practical and, in my opinion, is worth the extra few quid. It would look good in any kitchen but, particularly, in a modern steel-based kitchen. The exterior is a brushed-steel and is easy to clean. The lid closes slowly and quietly. The bags sit hidden and overlap the interior plastic bin which, in turn, is housed by the exterior brushed-steel shell. There is an option to lock the lid when open by pushing a red switch forward once the lid is fully raised. I find this very useful when preparing meals which would otherwise require constant opening and closing of the lid (e.g. peeling onions, garlic, trimming fat from meat, peeling carrots and potatoes, topping/tailing green onions, etc). Removing the inner black-plastic bin from the exterior steel shell is quite easy and you can then tie the plastic bag prior to removing it from the inner bin, thereby preventing accidental spillage. The bags are designed to be a tight fit around the edges, obviously to keep them taut and in place. Overall, it's a lovely modern kitchen item.
