This bin is lovely to look at. Previously, we had two plastic bins in our kitchen (one for recycling and one for rubbish). Both look incredibly cheap next to this Brabantia bin.PROS* The pedal feature means that you never have to touch the bin with mucky fingers to put dirty items into the bin. The fact that the brushed metal coating on the bin is quite stain and fingerprint resistant also means that the bin should remain clean-looking.* My next favourite design aspect of the bin is that the lid comes down slowly and quietly. No more having the bin lid banging down onto the rim of the lid.* The lid can either be operated using the pedal or can be manually lifted if you want the lid to stay up.This might be handy if you are chopping and frequently putting scraps in the bin without wanting to push the pedal down each time.* There is an inner bucket into which you put a big bag. This means that you can lift the whole bucket out. This is a major advantage for us as we seem to puncture bin bags quite frequently. On occasion, this has meant liquid from inside the bin bag dripping onto the floor as we take it out the back door to our exterior garbage bins. The slimline bucket means that we will never have bin drips inside the house again.CONS* The main con I can think of is that the bin is on the small side for a family. We were using a bin with 40L capacity whereas this bin has a 30L capacity. This means that we are having to change the bin bag about every day and a half - and this is bearing in mind that we recycle all of our plastics, bottles and paper into a separate bin. I would recommend getting a larger bin for a family.* Cost. It's not cheap for a bin. It would have been beyond my price point personally. Clearly though, this is a personal decision.OVERALL* An elegant bin that has been engineered to work as well as a bin can.

The Brabantia 30 litre pedal bin is a welcome replacement to a 30 litre pedal bin from TK Maxx which we can press the pedal of for a good 10 seconds before the lid pops up. It feels quite compact for its size and if you do have to move it, there’s a handle you can lift up at the back – it’s not too heavy either.Pressing the pedal lifts up the lid very smoothly – it’s very easy so you’re not pushing the bin away from you and better yet it does it straight away and you just have to lift your foot off the pedal for it to float back down again. If you want it to stay open, you’ve also got the option of opening it by hand which is a lot easier for emptying it.The removable inner bin isn’t flushdown the sides meaning it is very easy to lift this out – very handy for removing the liner outdoors if there is any liquid in it and then you have the easy job of just cleaning the inner bin. I love that it also came with 20 extra strong bin liners which are specially developed for up to 30l bins so they fit perfectly without them hanging down the outside of the bin but even for a 2 person household, these are quickly used up.I love the colour in the metallic mint – it’s not garish at all and doesn’t stand out against our magnolia walls. There’s a 10 year fingerprint guarantee with it (although not sure what that actually gives you!) but the finish of the bin is very easy to just wipe clean. I spent a good 10 minutes trying to get an Amazon barcode sticker off it and didn’t scratch it.It is a bit more than you’d probably want to pay for a bin but Brabantia are very durable where I feel like I wasted a good £30 on my old bin which needed replaced after two years. Highly recommended.

Brabantia are to bins what Apple are to gadgetry. There are, of course, cheaper bins about than Brabantia's and there are cheaper MP3 players than iplayers, smart phones than iphones and tablets than ipads, but somehow both companies have managed to produce something you can persuade yourself it's worth paying that little bit extra for. Both produce something that - in their respective fields - not only does the job as well as or better than the alternatives but also manages to look attractive and that feels right. There are limits to what design can do to make a pedal bin for your kitchen an object of desire but this surely is as close as you can get. What we have is a well proportioned binthat will sit in your kitchen and - rather than looking the eyesore that some do - really does look good. The surface has a brushed steel surface, with a touch of blue-green to it - enough to add interest but not overpowering. The lid operation works exactly as advertised - closing gently when the foot pedal is used and staying open until closed when opened by hand. Again, it speaks of care in design and creating an object that gives more by use than mere functionality. It is lightweight and easily carried with an unobtrusive steel loop handle on the back. The only downside is the cost. It is not by any measure cheap. But the design and care that make it a high quality bin are what you pay for, of course.

I used to have one of those plastic bins that have a swing lid and it was always annoying me when you were crapping food into the bin as it would go all over the lid and the lid would never stay down. This bin is like the answer to all the frustrations you have in a bin! The pedal allows you to hold the lid open with your foot while emptying/scrapping the food into the bin, eliminating the need to touch the bin and also the mess! You can also lift the lid by hand yourself and it stays up so you don't have to keep a hold on the pedal to keep it open.I have changed it a few times and the inner bucket comes out with a metal handle which makes it easy to empty and change.I live at the top floor of flats so it is great as I just carry the inner bucket down to the bins and then tie up the bin and empty. This is so good because it means you will never have a burst bag again!Love the sleek stainless style and the fact it has a 10year guarantee on it being finger proof is an added bonus to this high quality branded product.I do love this bin but the price tag is the only off putting thing about it but it is an investment and if you have this money to spend on a bin then I would get this one.Cassandra220689

i miss- ordered, expected something twice the size, but i quickly realised this is best size for the 2 of us pensioners and 2 cats . changing the smaller bags [ every day now] is so much quicker and easier , no risk of the great bag- burst disasters of old , no need to ask for help to drag rubbish out.the white finish was the reason i chose it [to match my kitchen ] and it looks fresher and cleaner for longer than the stainless steel it replaced and doesn't need a specialised cleaning product.the silent and slow- closing lid is a joy, unexpected and something i didn't know how much i needed till i had it, i'm never going back to the clanging or the feel of dirty lid on the back of my hand.finally, the green insert. this coincided with the arrival of an order from the council to separate food waste. i had been avoiding doing this as it's gross to lift the lid and scrape waste into my smelly special pot, then empty and wash it and change the filters. however, now, it is as fast to do as any other waste , no mess or smell, quick to empty and rinse out each day.so an unreserved 5 stars, every home should have one.

I know this might sound a bit sad but I love this bin! I have always been disappointed with bin purchases in the past and generally speaking the bins I have previously owned were rubbish. This bin is the king of bins and stands proudly in my kitchen shimmering in the sunlight and with zero fingerprint smears (my 10 month old has thoroughly tested this claim and so far it holds true). The soft closing lid is almost ethereal and I will be sure to demonstrate this feature to anyone who visits. The inner plastic liner means no more trying to awkwardly clean out that horrible gunky bin juice that collects at the bottom of hefty old bins. The bin liners included in the box fit so neatly you can't even see them when they're in.The only thing I would question is the stated colour of 'metallic mint'. Having gazed lovingly at my new bin for the last few days, I am at a loss as to how to describe the actual colour. Perhaps glinting grey-green sheen may be more apt? I'm sure that when you purchase this bin you will find yourself as hooked as me and it will make tidying up and throwing things away a pleasure.

Quality is what you get from a Brabantia product and this is no exception. As mentioned elsewhere, Mint Green is more of a metallic grey with a hint of green so not bright or garish as may seem suggested. Some basics, height closed 65cm, lid fully open 94cm - this may be important if placing under a counter for example. As a family bin, 30L is OK for us as we have seperate recycling for food and dry waste so a 30L bag (20 quality Brabantia bags are included, draw string) will last a week with no problem on our bi-weekly collection. Best thing is not the super quiet opening on the foot pedal (which is 9cm wide by 4.5cm deep), or the removable inside container (marked as G - 23-30L)or even the 10 year warranty - it's the Fingerprint Proof guarantee label on the side!!We've had standard chrome Brabantia bins, still going strong (5L in bathrooms etc) but the fingerprints! This model has a slightly textured feel to it and with 2 children (and 2 adults) - not a fingerprint to be seen. Ever. Guaranteed (Suspect Mud or Paint doesn't count)Brabantilliant as ever.

I have never had a Brabantia bin before, and was impressed by the attractive and functional design of this product. My previous bin was a cheap plastic affair that was easily stained, so this is a massive improvement. I like the mint colour, which will go with a wide range of kitchen furniture, and it seems unlikely to be easily damaged. One of the best features of the bin is the inside bucket, which allows you to remove full bin bags without them leaking over the rest of the house. Another useful feature is the lid, which will lower silently if you use the pedal to open the bin, but if you pull it open manually, will stay open, so you can keep the bin open easily if necessary. The only issue for me is price - although it has a ten-year guarantee, I'm not sure I would spend this much on a bin. However, I'm looking forward to using this bin in my new flat.

We looked at a few bins before settling for this one. It was not the cheapest, but when it arrived it was well packaged (survived the trip to Spain) and it was obvious that it was a quality product. Some good things:We did not know that it had a silent lid action (whisper lid or something like that). This is a nice feature so you do not get clanging lid every time the bin is opened. The seal around the lid is snug so there are no bin "smells" when the bin is closed. The inner bucket (container) is easy to remove and clean. The size is just right. Not too small, but not so big that you end up with a smelly bin even though it is only half full.Much prefer the peddle type rather than the press lidas you do not have to touch the bin with your hands - much more hygienic. In general a good bin that fits nicely into our kitchen - we like it.

Excellent product. Got a "refurbished" one from Amazon but arrived looking as good as new to be honest and about £20 cheaper along with three Brabantia bin liners, G size. Soft close lid as described, rubber on bottom of bin to prevent slipping, handle on back of bin which you can use to carry the bin (e.g. out to the main bin to empty), foot pedal, and inner bin canister made from plastic which can be removed via handle to change the bin, or clean it, bleach it, etc. There are ventilation holes in the inner plastic canister, which is a good feature. The outer of this bin is metal, which was important to me, as I have had enough of cheap looking plastic bins. This one seems like it will last me a while at least, justifying its cost.

I never thought I would rave about a pedal bin but this has been a great addition to our kitchen. It is so well designed in every way that it fits that famous criterion of William Morris: that things should be both beautiful and useful. I have a bad back and the bin has made it far easier for me to get rid of the waste I generate as a keen cook. The inner bags are so efficient that they keep the bin clean and it does not need to be emptied so often either. I could not have afforded it, though, unless I had been given a generous Amazon voucher by my sister in law. She was horrified when I told her I spent it on a bin but she recovered completely when I showed her the picture.

I'm a serial bin buyer. Sometimes they don't fit well under the sink; sometimes he dog has got into them; the ones on the under-sink door have given me problems with the lids (this is a story lasting 40 years!), Touch lids are exciting to watch but there is the "machinery" on top. I worried that this slim line one would be too narrow, but it isn't - well not for me. I have osteoporosis, and now I don't have to bend; the foot pedal opens the lid very wide. For me it is the best ever. The platinum colour is inoffensive and quite demure and the handle means that I can stand it in in one part of the kitchen, pull it where I want it. then put it back.

After a disasterous experience with a similar, cheaper bin from a well known upmarket department store (which had flimsy lid that opened with a clang loud enough to wake the dead), we gave in and bought a Brabantia. Very glad we did - this is a quality bin that will last years, it has a fantastic soft close lid and looks as elegant as a bin could look. We had a Brabantia before (only replaced as it acquired a large dent when moving home) and I'm pleased that we have another. I've learned that you get what you pay for with kitchen bins and I'll stick with Brabantia from now on. Not cheap, but well worth paying extra for.

Well made and with an excellent finish to the almond coloured paint - it's very even and smooth. Soft and silent close system is excellent, a lot better than my earlier version of this bin without this feature. Lid can be lifted by hand rather than using the foot pedal if/when required, and will remain in the open position for you if lifted to a vertical position (it won't stay open when opened with the foot pedal, it just lifts whilst the pedal is depressed). Overall, great quality but pricey, though I think worth paying the extra beyond what you'd pay for a similar, cheaper inferior bin.

The Brabantia Pedal Bin arrived very promptly, beautifully packaged may I add! My previous bin was also a Brabantia (12 litre) so I thought it was about time I had a decent sized bin in my kitchen as I was forever emptying the smaller one! I love the looks of this new big white bin - it's very smart, fits neatly into my kitchen, holds loads and closes quietly. It was a nice surprise receiving a free pack of bin liners too, which fit perfectly. Very pleased with this purchase - fairly expensive but worth every penny. I recommend this product to anyone who wants quality in a bin.
