This is a good bin, well designed! This is made particularly obvious to me because my old bin wasn't! For instance the lid of this bin doesn't open so far that it hits whatever is behind the bin. (In my case a very clangy radiator) It is also cunningly designed so that it status open if you open it by hand which makes it both practical for certain tasks and makes it easy to empty. The bin also stays permanently where I put it because the plastic ring does not slip about on lino. The white finish is fantastic and it really is fingerprint proof. Even the label which came stuck to the front of the bin was a specially chosen type which was easy to remove and does not leave a sticky mark!(It was so special that I kept it instead of throwing it away) The pedal mechanism is simple and robust which means that it is also simple to fix if it goes wrong. (Parts are readily available from Brabantia) And it is guaranteed for 10 years which is staggeringly good in this day and age of useless throw-away products! This bin is the metal bucket variety which I was surprised to discover is cheaper on Amazon than the plastic bucket ones. It's zinc plated to make it fire resistant but the reason I bought it is because I have seen plenty of bins where the plastic bucket has broken. (Usually from pressing rubbish down into the bin) This happened to all my previous bins so I wanted to make sure it didn't happen to me again! The only downside to this is that the metal bucket has a handle which catches on the bin bag when you remove it. The solution to this is simply to remove the handle while you are emptying the bin. This is very easy to do and shouldn't damage the bin at all if you are gentle. I checked the plastic bucket version at a local shop prior to my purchase and it was designed differently so that the handle doesn't get in the way. The plastic also felt pretty sturdy unlike my other bins, so you may want to consider that version instead if you are at all worried about the handle. (After all, replacement plastic buckets are available if you do manage to break it) Both versions have air holes at the bottom of the bucket so that you don't have to fight a vacuum to get the bin bag out!Overall this bin is exceptional and very good value for money when you consider some of the competition which is vastly inferior.

I had a brabantia bin for 8 years in stainless steel, but it had gradually got to the stage where I was embarrassed to have it on display in my kitchen, as it had got so grotty on the outside, despite cleaning it with a scourer. I therefore decided one month ago to invest in a new bin. Stupidly I decided to buy a DIY store own brand, as it was 10% off on the day I went to look. It alleged to be stainless steele. One month down the line, it is blindingly clear that you get what you pay for, buy cheap, break quickly! This clearly wasn't what it said, as already has rust on the top of it, and the plastic inner bin has split making it ready for going out for the bin tomorrow,as i've lost the receipt.I therefore decided to buy another brabantia bin. Wish i'd checked Amazon before, as this was only £13 more than I paid for the DIY store own! This arrived the day after I ordered it, as I pay for prime membership (I have found this invaluable.) The only downside I will say, is when it arrived this bin was a lot lighter blue, than it looks in the photo on the Amazon website. However, as it was a warehouse deal, and only £36, it will have to do in my kitchen, it doesn't look that bad. It even came with a set of bags, and they cost about £3-4 on their own. This price was a lot cheaper than i'd seen when I went looking for bins in the stores, which is why I hadn't bought a new brabantia one in the first place, expense.Unlike the DIY own brand bin, the pedal foot opens the bin quickly and efficiently and I like the fact that if you need to keep the lid open, it will do so. I tend to buy the bags specifically made by the company for these bins, as they fit perfectly unlike supermarket own brands.I recommend this to others, i've only not given it five stars, because it wasn't the colour I expected. These come with a 10 year warranty, a company wouldn't offer that if they weren't confident about the build quality of their products. So, my lesson learnt is, you really do get what you pay for, and if something is expensive, yet lasts for over 8 years, then it isn't really expensive if you look at the year by year cost. I usually live by this principle when I buy things, must have been having a mad five minutes when I bought the cheap bin!

I've had this bin for a little while now. Build quality is excellent and lives up to the quality the make is famous for. The opening mechanism is smooth and quiet and feels very solid - it doesn't feel like an under-engineered weak point which would break in a matter of weeks or months. Its slim body means it is able to fit into nooks and crannies that many other bins of this capacity cannot, which is very handy if, like me, you have limited space in your kitchen and want to make the most of the space that is available. When opening the bin when using the pedal, the lid will fall straight back down when stepping off the pedal. However, when opening the lid directly by hand, you are able to open it the entire way so that it will stay open until you close it by hand. This is very handy if you need to keep the lid open without needing to keep your foot on the pedal.I can echo what Richard says about the bucket and the outer casing - the top of the bucket where the liner wraps around is practically flush with the outer casing, so it is very difficult to ensure the liner isn't disturbed when re-installing the lined bucket. This is the only reason why it doesn't get five stars.I also echo about the box the bin is packaged in - it offers absolutely no protection to the bin inside whatsoever, so if you see signs of damage on the box, when you get the opportunity check inside to make sure there isn't any damage to the bin itself. All in all, this is an excellent quality bin which should last a long time. At the time of this review it is currently priced at £35. I'd be a little hesitant to pay that for this bin, despite its quality. If you shop around, you may be able to find it at a cheaper price - in which case, don't think twice.

Great bin - just the right size for our small kitchen. Doesn't skid around the floor like our other cheap bin from Matalan as it has a clever little suction pad underneath. Inner bag gets hidden too by the lip of the bin - a nice aesthetic touch. You can choose the colour you want too - I choose Almond as we have almond units and peach walls - looks fantastic and blends in beautifully (you don't really want your waste bin in your face!). Granted, Brabantia are pricey - but you get what you pay for - a beautifully designed bin that should last the course of time (the pedal of another cheap bin I had broke soon after purchase! The term 'false economy' springs to mind.....)All in all, gorgeous (I know it's only a bin at the end of the day, but is such a beautifully designed product and so aesthetically pleasing). It was delivered fast too, and well boxed. I am definitely a confirmed Brabantia fan :-)Brabantia rules ok?!Nb Delighted with the Seller's service too!Fiona, Worcs.

This bin has a very simple design which helps it fit into very narrow spaces. Unlike other slimline bins, the base is no wider than the body of the bin.In use this is mostly good, with a couple of small exceptions. Firstly, the liners fit over the removal inner bucket, but the bucket is only a little smaller than the bin, so after fitting a liner it's difficult to drop the bucket back into the bin without dislodging the liner on one side. Also, the bucket has a handle for easy removal, but the liner covers and obscures it, making it hard to find again and use.Note that this product is not well packaged - it's essentially a metal tube inside a cardboard box. Just like food cans at the supermarket which are often dented, the first one I had delivered was badly damaged on one side.

Excellent quality, no fingerprints on the bin (as described). Easy to clean. Looks like it is going to last. I was really reluctant for buying a pedal bin but this one closes without making much noise and you can keep it open if you wish. The product is well worth the money I paid on sale - £35 - I would pay a bit more now as it definitely looks great (and works great) but I hope I will not need another bin for quite some time. The size - 20 litres - is exactly what I was looking for for a long time - it is perfect for a household of 2. The bin bags from Brabantia are excellent but I would look for something cheaper later on, see how it goes... Top quality, highly recommended.

Looked for ages for this type of bin. Gave up last year and started again. Didn't want a stainless steel lid as they show fingermarks so badly. This is the bin size I was looking for. I don't think I could obtain it from Brabantia itself, either they didn't have it as current stock or it's so popular they sold out when I was looking. Hopefully it will last longer than the cheaper one it is replacing. Looks good ie smart in the kitchen. Amazon had a good range to choose from but for me this was the best. As usual, Amazon delivery is prompt and efficient.

This is a useful medium size pedal bin. Good design; matt black and the stainless steel effect would fit well into most kitchens. Stainless steel is not too prone to showing finger marks - a real plus! Easy to operate foot pedal and ability to hold the lid fixed open is useful. Base is made of a material that does not scratch tiled floors. There is a suction button on the base to keep the bin stable which is useful but this very quickly split on our first bin. We'll be a bit more gentle with the replacement! All-in-all we think this is a good buy.

I never new I could be so excited about a bin! After having a crappy ASDA bin for over a year (it was only supposed to be temporary), this bin is well worth the 35 quid. Superior construction, soft close lid (I didn't know how great that was until I experienced it), and it really does keep the smells in the bin instead of the area around it. It also came with 20 of the bags made specially for it, which I didn't realize. Other kitchen bags aren't a problem for me with this product, but the specially designed ones make it even better.

Have the 30 litre Brabanita Pedal Bin for kitchen. It is now almost 12 years old and almost as good as new. It is the dark green colour which is now discontinued. Easy to keep clean, just a wipe over and a quick polish with dry soft cloth. Saw this 12 litre version in taupe at a good price and thought it would act as a good recyling bin in kitchen. It arrived exactly on time and is a lovely colour and same good quality as previous bin. Many thanks.

So I went all out and bought a brabantia bin, maybe a bit frivolous, but it is lovely, a nice white finish and a snazzy metal pedal, not too sure about the 'silent' closing action, but there is certainly not a clang when the lid comes down.As with all Brabantia bins if you buy the specific bin liners they do fit best, the bin actually came with about 20 bags so that was a nice bonus! Also, no assembly required which I was grateful for!

Replacement for my sadly dented (it wasn't my fault) 14 years old Brabantia bin of the same exact design with the broken lid (OK that WAS my fault, I took it apart to clean it and lost a crucial bit).It was £35 pounds last time. This version has a shiny foot pedal and a stay open lid.I am very happy! It's a beautiful thing which you really can't say about most bins, and I shall look after this one a lot more carefully.

Delivery was so quick, just 3 days after I ordered it and that included a weekend!! Also well packed. Very pleased with this smart pedal bin, it has a metal liner with air holes to make it easier to remove the waste bag. I have had a brabantia bin for at least 12 years, but thought it was now time to replace it as it is getting a bit tatty. I also thought the price was very good, I would definately recommend this item.

How much space do you need for your food waste? A separate bin would be wasting valuable space - 3 litres is enough, and means it is emptied before it gets smelly. Ideally would have preferred say a 30 litre main bin for non-recyclable waste, but otherwise it's perfect. At a third of the price of the "twin bin" it is excellent value and usual Brabantia quality.I certainly won't be "recycling" mine!

Tried most other cheaper pedal bins, they didn't last very long. The Brabantia is in a different league altogether. Build quality is excellent, made to last the test of time. Lid action is cool too, it closes slowly after use, nice touch. Highly recommend this product over all other pedal bins. Oh, you get a sample of free luxury bin liners too.
