I’ll begin this review by providing a bit of context. I care a lot about music quality and it is something that I have been passionate about since I was in my early teens. I wouldn’t classify myself as an extreme audiophile but I definitely know a thing or two about what sounds good. When it comes to computer peripherals I am a Logitech man. I have owned their computer speakers for years now and their keyboard and mice longer still. I have never cared much for computer speaker audio previously as I wear my headphones when I am gaming or watching anything, speakers for me were always an item that simply needed to ‘make sound’. I decided it was time to upgrade as I was looking for something a bit more in the sound department. One major obstacle I needed to factor in was space. I didn’t want a large subwoofer under my desk as I already have a large tower PC. I also don’t have a huge amount of space on my desk for the speakers to sit. With these limitations in mind I focused on 2.0 speaker set ups as they fit what I was looking for. Moving on to Bose themselves. I’ll be honest and say that I have never been much of a fan of them previously. They have a distinct ‘house of Bose’ sound that I never really got on with. I was however pleasantly surprised by their Soundlink Mini II bluetooth speaker that I was gifted one year as a Christmas present. Whilst I wouldn’t choose them for a larger cinema system I have come to appreciate that Bose have an impressive ability of making small speakers sound much larger than their cabinets would have you believe. I had done my reading around the Companion 2 Series III specifically and reviews were echoing what I already suspected – the speakers provide a rich sound and stereo imaging that are far larger than their small size. I decided to give them a go! I’ve had them for little over a week now and I am stunned. I’ll bullet point my thoughts below: - The cost – for what you’re getting this is probably the best priced speaker I have ever come across from Bose. They warrant the price tag. - They look great. They’re clean, understated, minimalist and compact. My other half even gave them the thumbs up in the looks department and she doesn’t normally care much for these things! - It has good connectivity – PC line in and 3.5 AUX connections are located on the back and a headphone jack on the front. I have them connected to both my monitor’s audio out and the PC audio out with the headphone jack on the front to spare. I particularly like the two connections on the back as my previous speakers had the AUX connector on the front and I didn’t like always having a cable protruding out. - The ‘power on/off’ mechanism is the same as my previous speakers in that you turn them on and off via the volume dial. The dial itself feels great with a smooth motion and a level of resistance which implies it is well made. - The sound is just brilliant. Dialogue is clear and forward with a nice level of timbre to voices, this was particularly important to me as I listen to a lot of podcasts and enjoy YouTube videos. The sound signature is warm with a slight emphasis on the bass which I was expecting, I was really surprised at how much bass they can produce for the size. The highs are clear but not jarring. The stereo imaging is probably what impressed me the most however. I have no idea what sorcery is being used in them but they somehow project the sound far wider than where you have the speakers placed on your desk. Would I recommend these speakers? Without hesitation. The difference in quality between these and the previous speakers I owned are night and day. If you are considering them then I would say just go for them. You would be hard done by to find a pair of speakers that look, sound or are priced better at this size and price point.

My wife bought these for me to use in our home office, or as she calls it, 'the lair'. The sound reproduction is very good, better than any computer speakers we have ever used. The only problem is the limited separation , since the standard code is only about six feet and by the time you drop it though one desktop cord opening and up through another you can only get them about four feet apart. The cable connections are non-standard, so it's not easy to remedy this. However, a very nice gentleman at Bose online support is shipping me an extension that will allow me to get the full eight foot separation on my work station.A nice addition to these would be a connection for a separate woofer.I have a very good one but no connection is available.

After several years of putting my Logitech Z-4 2.1 Speaker System through its paces I decided it was time for a change. I purchased the Logitech Z533 2.1 speaker system to replace the Z-4. The Z533 2.1 speaker system is a bass heavy system that is lack luster at best. Enter the Bose Companion 2 Series III 2.0 Speaker system. WOW, I remember back a few years ago I had the Bose Companion Series II and remember the tight crisp sound they produced. I am thrilled to own Bose Speakers again! No comparison whatsoever. These Series III speaker absolutely rock! Well rounded full range sound that is very well balanced. No need for a sub here at all. Get all the low end needed.Thank you Bose for such a great product!

I am NOT a fan of Bose audio, because I find Bose to make impressive-sounding equipment that is however very artificial, doctored, coloured .... BUT i was seriously impressed by these multimedia speakers and decided to lay my money on them. I am not disappointed! I do NOT expect hifi from multimedia speakers, but i DO expect sound that is not distorted (clipping) or with cabinet resonance or overly-bright midrange ... the bass is a bit bloated 'Bose style' for sure, even for their size, but they are most satisfactory at low to mid volume. No better way to listen to 'background' music while sitting at my PC.

i've had my speakers for almost TEN years. we are avid bose fans and owners. we've had the 901s for something like 20 years and they're still kickin'. and we also own the lifestyle 12 for about 10 years. i've had these companion 2 speakers for a long time and they've travelled with me all over the world and i've had them plugged into all kinds of computers. the style is sleek and timeless (the original grey). the sound is just now starting to go out on the right speaker. i use them almost daily since my computer is my main source of music in my house. i will be replacing and upgrading when i get the chance.

I used to have two Pioneer 12" 3-way speakers and Magnavox head hooked into my computer as general purpose use since my computer also acts as our TV for movies. I replaced those with these to cut down on space, and while these little speakers aren't going to have the same SPL or low end as large tower speakers, they put out quite a bit for their size and have a significantly better sound stage (depth, width, and height). These appear to use the very same drivers as the Bose Waveguide that I have sitting in my living room. Just make sure you use an external DSP with these, and you will be happy!

Bought these to replace a Loewe Soundport for my office – and can report that for less than a third of the price of the Soundport, I'm getting a doubling of sound quality. Soundstage and range on the Companion 2s is impressive for the price; the bass output is surprising for desktop monitors. Not going to compete with really good quality audiophile speakers and amp, but more than adequate for my office. Size is great – small and discreet. Build quality looks good, and it's nice to have two separate inputs.

I cannot say more than this: They have an amazing sound, clear and detailed. They project the the perfect amount of a rounder bass, no distortion unless you tweak the eq sound sent to them, or you hear some bad sound recording. They have the perfect volume for their size and perfect for using along with a laptop, PC or even TV screen. They are small and easy to set up. Once you start using BOSE products, you simply forget all the other options available from other brands.

We all know the Bose name but rarely do we associate this with desktop computer speakers. These two speakers, for a very affordable price, will literally shock you into submission. Transforming your music listening, gaming, and video entertainment into a realm that is astonishingly authentic to its source. For any music aficionado on a budget this product is a must have. Bose is my lifetime choice for crystal clear music and sound. Enjoy!

I bought these speakers earlier this week. I did not know how much I was missing out on when I was either using my computer monitor speakers. I needed some speakers because I was getting tired of listening with headphones while laying in bed. These speakers sound awesome and will continue to by Bose speakers so long as this quality of remains the same or improves. Thanks Bose for making an awesome product that is not terribly expensive.

I got my pair of these speakers and over all I'm am very satisfied with its performance, i have been using as a sort of studio monitors and overall they deliver. I have also used these on maximum volume for a long duration and and they still sounded great. They both sound great in low volume and high. i have even made my own volume control knob and removed the stock built in one for a more cleaner look and wrapped them

Bought these a couple of years ago to cover the joint task of being monitor speakers for my video editing and for my music server. The depth of bass for something so small is nothing less than outstanding, the clarity of the treble is crisp and clear. Bose have somehow managed to package the sound you would expect from full sized audio speakers into these desktop pc speakers...totally amazing.

I recently bought these speakers and I am so happy that I did. They yield a big, full, rich sound. A perfect balance of bass . With my old speakers I used to have a hard time understanding what the words are, because of the the high pitched sounds. I truly do not have that experience with these. I am planning on buying several more sets for my family members. I recommend Bose to anyone.

I replaced my laptop computer speakers with these speakers and I LOVE them! I had speakers attached to my laptop but the connector was bad and I didn't know how to fix it. I wish I had purchased these Bose speakers sooner! I have been shut-in for very long...since before the pandemic crisis, with health problems. These speakers have added so much joy to my bland, dreadful life!

I give narrated powerpoint presentations in schools and libraries and use several short video clips complete with sound. Even though the hall may have its own sound system I use for the microphone, the small Bose system, quickly installed and turned up full tilt, fills all but the largest auditorium. Not knee bending bass, but clarity for the verbal and instrumental content.
